Posted 14 years agoSo, NaNoWriMo was a complete bust. I couldn't get things lined up how I wanted for the story. So, I'm scrapping this project and I'll come back to it later.
I may start my "snow" story instead, as it should be a lot easier to get down. Pretty straight forward porn. I'll come back to my fantasy series later. After reading a few articles, I think there's a better approach I can take for those stories.

Posted 14 years agoAhhh, much better. Had a great vacation this past week. Gave me some time to clear my head, and got some of my story ideas cleaned up. Time to knuckle down and actually get them done.

Posted 14 years agoSaw Hop at the movies today. Cute film, very kid-friendly. There's very few jokes for the adults in this one. It's a simple plot, one you've seen a thousand times before, but it's not bad for a children's film.
My big disappointment was that the girl bunnies (the Pink Berets) didn't even get a single line. This really was a Boys' Movie, with lots of father-son issues, loud music and poop jokes. Not really much for a young girl to enjoy other than the cute bunnies.
That said, the animation was superb. They did a fantastic job with the main character, and interacting with real actors has come a long way since Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Although the human actors weren't really all that interesting.
As something for adult furries, I'd say wait to rent it unless you can catch a matinee showing. It's cute, but not full-price cute.

In the dumps
Posted 14 years agoDepression is an insideous thing. Sometimes, you don't even know you're in it, until someone who cares for you steps in.
I'm getting myself back together now. In fact, I had some inspiration yesterday and now I'm doing research. I've got an outline for a story in mind and, if it works out well, I'll also bring my vampire story into the same setting. Plus, I've got a third straight-up porn story wriggling around. That one just needs some help at the beginning... the rest practically writes itself.
In other words, I'm finally getting my feet under me, and can start producing new stories. Also, I'm going through my files to see what older stories I can fix up to be worth posting.

A few hours later, 1700 words in. :-D It's going longer than I thought, maybe a bit too long. This will require some heavy editing after I hit the end.

I'm going to set it aside until I can figure out what I'm doing wrong here. It just... doesn't sound right when I read it, but I'm not sure how to fix it yet.
Instead, I'm going to start a story series I've been planning on. NaNoWriMo begins today, so this is as good a place as any to kick it off. It will consist of a short prologue, five short stories, and possibly an epilogue. I may post each bit as a work-in progress, so folks can enjoy and offer constructive criticism, then revise it once the month is over.
I'm really not sure it'll span the full 50,000 words but, if not, I'll go on to add some bonus "stories" to fill it out (which may not be posted here until complete).

Posted 15 years agoThis story is kicking my ass. I can't find my voice, and every sentence makes me wince. I'm just getting it down to get the words out right now, and it's going to need heavy-duty editing before being ready. Still hoping to get it up before Halloween is over, but it's not looking good.

Immelmann, I finally have a proper avatar icon! Meet Masque, our storytelling raccoon. Yes, he's a bit mischievous, as you can tell by the grin. And the raccoon mask over his right eye is an Eye of Horus. Perhaps one day, he'll tell us how that came to be...
Right now, I'm working on a Halloween-themed story I hope to have out this weekend. If I can get it done in time, I might also have another, more scary story up, with a theme some of you will recognize.
