I may come back, maybe in several months/years.
I wont divulge why I'm doing this. Just know I've had a very tough time these last few weeks and I don't have the heart to continue this way.

With some encouragement from my discord members I've decided to bite the bullet and finally create a YouTube channel! c:
I've been wanting to make videos for years but never had the confidence (or editing skills) but you have to start somewhere right?
I'm starting a series about going back through my old art journals which seemed very well received by my friends and followers on Discord :D and I also think it would be a great place to pose speedpaints from time to time!

Since I've crawled out of my depression pit and my mental health is slowly improving I feel I'm able to take some paid work (mostly YCH's) again in VERY small batches. When this happens I'll be sure to either write a journal, upload a submission or make a statement on my discord server. It WONT be first-come-first-serve as I'd prefer to work on designs I feel I can handle, but more info will be posted at the time!
Also prices will be undergoing a big change as I've realized I've been underselling myself for YEARS, but from what I've seen my new prices (most will be around double of my past prices) are still pretty good in the market.

General | Posted 5 years agoHello everyone, this is Matty. I wanted to make this journal because I felt you guys deserved to know what exactly is going on lately, especially since I’ve been absent for so long.
So for those unaware I decided to take some time off from drawing and social media back in July, and the reasons for that I stated in a journal I uploaded at the time on my deviantART account. However upon reflection I feel that these reasons aren’t exactly true. It doesn’t take a genius to see that the journal is dripping in my frustration and anxiety that I was feeling at the time. I blamed a lot of issues I was having on deviantART’s change to Eclipse and acknowledged a significant drop in watcher engagement. And although I do still hate Eclipse, everything else is purely a “me” problem.
I don’t know when it happened, but at some point I changed from “I’m drawing this because I like it and if others like it that’s a bonus” to “I’m drawing this because I hope other people will like it, and if not I'm doing something wrong”.
And that’s a huge problem.
Especially to me.
Because that's not what art and drawing is to me.
It never was.
After the first month off I felt far more relaxed, being able to do fun things like play video games or being able to focus on my job without feeling any stress around art or drawing. I didn't have to worry about WHY I was feeling this way or what not. But then something amazing happened; I wanted to start drawing again.
It wasn’t anything amazing, but that was the whole point. Just small scribbles or sketches of things I had ideas for at that moment, but sometimes I polished them up a bit with ink and shading. I did a LOT of these kinds of drawings at work during some down time, it was happening so often I even bought a small book for it. Everyday at work during the evenings or afternoons I’ve been adding things in this book. I've also got myself a nice art journal for a birthday present that I plan to use more often too.
There’s some themes I’ve been noticing when I’ve been drawing just for me. I tend to draw a lot of humans, feral animals and dragons. This may be irrelevant to most but to anyone who knew what I used to draw as a child, and it’s still available in the depths of my DA gallery. What I used to draw the most were; humans, feral animals, and dragons.
I guess things never really change eh?
So what’s the point Matty? Why bring all this up and waffle on for this long?
Well I’ve made a few decisions that I wanted to let you guys know about.
> First off I don’t want to be on hiatus from social media forever. I’d like to be able to come back and talk to people or reply to messages within a more timely manner. I still enjoy talking to everyone! And I know I have a couple of friends that get worried about me if I’m gone for too long.
> Secondly, and I’ve said this before, drawing is my hobby. So I only want to draw things that interest me at my own pace. Therefore commissions will be cancelled forever. I've officially finished/refunded all commissions from my fund-raiser!
The last three I finished being the most complex work on my list!

Oh boy, this is a journal I really didn't want to make. But I don't have much choice.
As some of you are aware, I had a fund raiser recently that successfully funded my new computer;

Worked out better than I expected. And arguably I got a large chunk of the owed work done pretty quickly!
But here comes an artists worst nightmare when it comes to creative work;
Burnout...
I've been working on solely commissions for SO long and at such an accelerated rate that I burnt myself out. Not so bad that I can't draw anymore, but I can barely even draw things I WANT to do.
It's taking me longer to get the rest of my to-do list done and it's making me feel pretty goddamn terrible to make people wait for me, especially since I'm going to need a long ass time to recover from this properly. So I've decided to start refunding some people when I get paid.
It will only be the cheaper stuff right now (really undersold myself on those $12 flats), the more expensive stuff might need to be refunded more slowly.
I cant guarantee that I'll finish anything I've already started, but I will guarantee that they will be refunded if I can't finish them. I'll even send full-sized versions of what I've done so far so hopefully you can get it finished elsewhere.
I'm sorry for the downer journal :'c I blame myself for taking on such a huge workload. But I want to try make everything right one way or another.

However now she's dealing with her own personal issues so she's not on it anymore. And since she's away I can't get ownership back again just yet. Not that I'd even want it back, I'd most likely just delete it.

So I've built a shiny NEW server from scratch!
There's currently nobody on it yet, not even any of my mates, so I'm not sure if it's good enough to make public yet.

Now please note! The only reason I'm name-dropping her is because of her huge prevalence in the furry art community and just HOW MUCH she scams her clients and the sheer amount of art she steals.
Anyone who knows anything about [[REDACTED]] will know that she's been stealing bases and art from Xashy /
for years now, and there's PLENTY of hard evidence supporting this.

It's weird to me since I never thought I was good enough to steal from. But I'm taking it pretty seriously since she's using all of our art for financial gain. Almost ALL of her YCH's and commissions are traced from something.
Now of course I'd never make these kinds of claims without my own proof so here we go~

General | Posted 7 years agoHowdy y'all. I've had some people suggest I create a place for my customers to leave reviews of me? I know most of my buyers are indeed repeat customers, and I know I work very well with them! (Which I appreciate muchly ILU all ♥)
But I know what it's like trying to commission someone you don't know. How do you know if they're reliable or if they're nice to work with? It's dangerous waters out there.

I see other artists offer these things on places like Patreon so I was wondering if anyone wanted that from me too.
I was thinking allowing my generic/fanart/some personal images to be sold. I'd allow buyers to use the source file for their own personal art, learning how I create my images or YCH's if they desired. AS LONG as they don't claim it as their own, resell the original PSD, be a giant dick etc.
