First off, apologies I have not been posting here as much lately, just a lot on my plate since the end of July and working myself out from under it.
But I also wanted to say thanks to all who wished me a happy birthday on the 12th.
Can't say it was a spectacular day or anything but all the messages and art were bright spots in an otherwise regular day.

Apologies for falling of the planet for a bit there. Lots of events in the last few months of this year, stuff with family dominated my headspace and I kinda fell out of doing much. But it feels like things are slipping back into normal and I'm finally putting pen to paper a lot more recently so i hope to post some stuff soon.

My gift to myself is moving out of this bug infested house and back to my home after a year+ of covid restrictions.
Yay for 'normalcy'!

So I have to apologize to people I have kept waiting. I find I get into these 'moods' or states of mind where I do a bunch of commissions and then lax on getting back to the commissioner. (or in some cases, try to and not get a response) so that's it, just time to post everything I have been working on.
Gonna be short and sweet, no description other than title. gotta get my ass in gear. While I do still have my lists and am working on all of them, please don't feel you can't approach me and ask for what you are owed. You have that right as a customer.

So as you can tell, I am not dead but man, have I been busy. After the move things just got busier as my life is now pretty much sitting in a room all day until I go to work, more shifts as workforce lessens. Family dealings, some deadlines but most importantly, getting back on getting people's owed commissions. (believe me, I'm ashamed to admit I still have backlog) but with the end of this month, (and my brother out of the hospital) I can clear some space and focus on the art. Wish me luck and thanks for the support, gang.

So I guess it's time for an update. Thanks to covid I was homeless for most of July. My job kindly took me and until i found a place on Aug 1st. My stuff is with me now and I am settled. This move should only last until covid calms down or vaccine pops up.
For people who know me, there is no bad blood between me and my former roomates, since one of them is high risk and I didn't want to lose my job of 23 years, I made the choice to move out to protect them and to continue working. I hope to see them after all this.
Also apologies to everyone waiting on me, i am finally comfortable enough to get back into art and have been catching up recently. I have no plans to open for commissions currently but i will announce when. All my thanks for the ko-fi support and words of encouragement. Stay safe out there.

Hey gang.

So you may have heard about my little adventure in March. y'know. the one where you travel to the Caribbean on a family trip only to run willy nilly as the borders close around you and you have to stay in a hotel while airlines cancel your trip home and you are pleading with airlines to make things right. Then have empty airplanes come to pick you up so you can stay overnight in a freezing cold airport. Only to find out once you get back in your country that you can't return home and have to stay with your brother for an extra 2 weeks in quarantine, only to find out you can't go back to work for the next who-knows-how-long?

Needless to say, things could be better-for all of us.

Hello all, I hope people are staying safe during these trying times.

The 'Back Home':

Well, unknown to most people, I had to go back home to Newfoundland for a few weeks after hearing my mom was recently put into the dementia wing of the elder home and we fear she will be there for the rest of her life. For all the sad emotion surrounding this event, she seems...happy? to be there. Always a smile when I come to visit but she never uses my name and the last time I talked to her on the phone, she thought I was one of my brothers. So there's that.
I spent the last few weeks at home helping dad fix up the house and throw out old items. It was an interesting task, digging through the history of my family, old schoolbooks, old magazines and some old technologies that I was surprised they kept all this time. One of the oldest items I found was a 1963 book owned by my mother. It was a bittersweet experience. I did draw her some art, which she seemed to enjoy. It was a simple but bittersweet picture to match the situation.
All in all, I'm...okay...with how I left home. the house is fixed up (but still some to go) dad seems to be okay. And mom...seems happy and is being well taken care of. So while not the perfect situation, it something I can deal with for now.

The 'Powered up":

So I return home on Saturday to find that a friday tornado had severely damaged the power station and destroyed many homes and power poles. So after I land in the airport, all streets were dark on the way home and was interesting to walk through the neighborhood in total darkness. I actually have a light saber at home that I dusted off and used as a light source. (I really wanted to take it out to thew park outside and run around with a glowing saber in a pitch black city.)
Well, the lights in my section of the city came on last night so that idea was a wash.

But with the power back on I can finally post some art and commissions for you guys. Thanks for hanging in there and being patient. Art is on it's way! ;D

It's been an interesting year so far. as most of you know I haven't died but something happened to me this year that usually doesn't happen (this long) I got 'stuck'.

Artistically at least, I dunno what happened. I don't think I suffer from depression, I like to think I don't, I'm generally a laid back, take it easy kinda guy but this time...I don't know what happened. it was a mix of low energy and stuck on one particular event. For people who haven't been keeping track. it is Zig Zag's 20-ish anniversary. (I'll explain the 'ish' later.) and I think that's what got me stuck. In an attempt to design something big or flashy for her birthday and I wanted it to be the first pic I posted for 2018...but it never happened and I just kept getting stuck on it. You'd think I'd be able to draw my own creation without a second thought but nope, brain wasn't having it and from there I started going downhill.

Even after talking to some peers, my mood kept dropping for art. a lot of self doubt and even less self worth, just too much stuff to do and so many demands in life between work, art, travel, friends and family, it was all affecting the art. I was just such low energy for the past 6 months. I had to do something, or start getting ready to issue a whole lot of refunds.

So a couple months ago I started leaving the house and going to the local college just to get away from all the distractions of home. It seems to have worked. If you go to an environment where you have nothing else to do but draw, you seem to get more work done, go figure. ;)
Unfortunately the night job still interrupts my art flow but at least for now, I'm making some progress and am finally ready to start posting again.

The art itself was scanned in long ago but I wanted to ;polish; them with greys and probably took it too far, which made4 these pictures even later, bleah.
And more annoyingly as I look through my folder of scanned art, I got a LOT of stuff to convert into postable material so I probably won't be polishing them all to the same extent. So please enjoy this meager offering and my thanks for supporting me during a time of self doubt.

Family:
Not the best news. My mom is entering that stage of life, where the family has to consider elder care homes and right after that my brother ends up in the hospital (but it was short) take care of yourselves, people.

Work:
Work is work, not much going on there but I am the first on call if people are3 absent so some of my days off are called in, which disrupts work flow.

Travel:
The usual trips but I will at least list the conventions I should be attendingt til the end of this year.

Hey all. thinks have been happening but I have been lax in keeping you all updated.

Well I finished a week long coloring spree for Gnaw's birthday. (among others)
Dealing with some family issues. Parents getting up there and all that. you know how it goes.
anyway, still finishing those commissions so I take a little risk with this announcement:

I will be attending Furpocalypse this coming weekend
but we are going a day early so I would like some commissions to cover the extra time we are out there. I will be taking 10 commissions, from anyone (used to be just the people attending con) Just know that it will be single characters only (any extra bits will be discussed) please send me an email with description and refs to (maxblackrabbit0(at)gmail.com) I'll respond with paypal info and we'll get this ship underway.

Hey all, quick update. back on Aug 12th (my birthday) we had a thunder and lightning show, which ended up frying our modem, router,phone and parts of my PVR. So until today, we had no internet, no calls and no TV. I don't mind unplugging everyonce in a while but this is kinda overboard.

Hey crew, sorry to be gone so long. Its a busy summer for work, travel and conventions. Im back from what the fur and megaplex, both fun cons.
I just wanted to assure people i owe art to that im on it, gonna spend the next couple weeks working on owed art, everyone will get thier art. I may be slow but i keep my promises. ;)

Well I'm getting ready here and finishing up some of my last owed commissions (from last year and beyond)
But I am going down early and will be there thursday. So with little to do, I will be drawing.

So what's happening is I will be taking commissions from con goers only (like last year)
10 single character slots at $42 per character. Payment will be done by paypal. (and paypal fee included)

please add any refs that will be important to the picture.
Also include your paypal address to send an invoice to.
I will collect the names, place the first 10 I get in a list here on the FA site. (new) if I get more than 10 requests, I will add them to a list for after the convention. If people want to wait for me to finish them, they can. If not. they have not paid and nothing of value was lost.
