Fursuit Future: Bad News (Goodbye Shining Armor)
Posted 11 years agoSo, today I finally got my tax return. It's not good news. My tax return is about HALF what I was expecting. It's JUST enough to kill my debit. It is not even enough for a deposit for a new fursuit.
SO, if this new fursuit is to happen, I had to make some hard choices today. The main being this. Shining Armor is being sold. I plan to take Shining Armor to Sakura Con and Everfree before I sell him in July. He should be sold just in time to make my final payment on my new fursuit for October completion.
The sad fact is; Ever since I got Shining Armor, I RARELY use him. He's NOT A FURSUIT. He's a cosplay based of My Little Pony. Because of that I only have pony and comic/anime cons to use him. Over the last year I've had him, I've only used him like 4 times. That's just a joke. I love having a pony suit, but I do not attend enough brony events to use him enough. So he is going to be sold.
If you are interested in buying him, he will be up for bid STARTING at $2200 and up. It will also include the Cadence throwing prop you have seen before. Again, I will NOT SELL him till AFTER Everfree the first week of July. If you guys respond with insane interest, I might start the bid soon, but I will not take money or give the suit till July. We'll see. Just comment below. Consider this my attempt to gauge interest.
Sad times, but I spend all my bonus money this year on a new laptop. So, this is the only way a new fursuit can happen unless I wait a year for my next annual bonus. And honestly, I think it's the right thing to do. Shining Armor was fun, but he never gets used. Ever. I want another fursuit. I goto 10 times more furry events then I do brony events.

Months Past, and Months to Come: Conventions

Well, FC and VF were a total blast.
I wish I could get into details, but I honestly really suck at just sitting down and writing post con journals. So I'll just say this. Thank you EVERYONE for both cons. FC was a large and new experience. I have never been to a convention that large and it was great to be at "the big con everyone else is going to".
FC was so exciting! The panels were pretty non existent for me and I enjoyed the con for mostly just walking around and seeing new faces. I got alot of photos with suiters I thought I'd never meet. Thank you to everyone for a wonderful time!
VF gets more amazing every year. Going from a big con to a little con is a very educating experience. I've learned that attendance numbers doesn't mean shit when it comes to having fun. Yes, it is amazing to be in these MASSIVE furpiles, but I had a furpile at VF that was just as fun. :3 VF was great cause I had all my friends with me and many more I haven't seen for a year. I had alot of fun fursuiting in general, as well as trying new things like Kuhori's harness, a casual furpile, and DRUNK FURSUITING. Seriously, that was amazing doing it again.
I hate to condone the use of alcohol, especially while in fursuit, but it really helped me open up and become an active and friendly performer! THose who saw me in the lobby for that 30 minutes sunday night will know that. XD I expect to do it alot more, for sure at conventions.
So thank you EVERYONE for a great time in San Jose and Vancouver. :) But now, onto my future convention plans. I have some changes to announce:
So Further Confusion is now cancelled. 2014 was my last. Why you ask? Not why you'd think. My wife's birthday is on the 15th, and this year it was doable. HOWEVER, I found out that every year her birthday creeps deeper into the convention weekend. To a point where I feel I have to choose between disappointing my wife on her birthday EVERY YEAR, or simply canceling the con. My wife didn't pressure me AT ALL with this choice. I decided it was for the best. ALSO another reason I am canceling FC is to FINALLY ATTEND MWFF!! Yes!!! That other reason is because MFF now has a new date that's mid December instead of Mid November. I could never go before because of that, and now I can go. And honestly, I feel MFF would be a step up over FC. FC is fun, but MFF would allow me to see alot more furs as well as furs I have NEVER met before at any convention.
So yeah. FC is out, MFF is in! I am also sad I will NOT be at BLFC next week. I can only do so many conventions each year, guys. I'm sorry. :( HOWEVER, I am pretty sure that in 2015 I am gonna trade BronyCAN for BLFC. I just can't miss out on Reno any longer. Every furry I know and their uncle goto BLFC. I feel I am missing out. However, I really want to attend more pony conventions. Well, at least last year I did. My interest in the brony fandom is fading from what it used to be due to SHITTY writing this season.

But it seems like someone else has decided to do a commissions panel for me without asking, so fuck it. Other then that, I attend to show up at a few panels here and there. The brony panel is the only one I KNOW i'm gonna attend. I haven't quite looked at the scheduled yet.
Stage or public performance?
I am debating a masquerade, if VF even has one. Doing the masquerade at FC really boosted my confidence, and I wanna try new things now. No idea what the next step is, but I will think about it when I get to Canada.
How do I identify my self to you?
Just say hello and remind me who you are. Remember, the internet has no faces. I have a hard time remembering who people are since the rare times I DO meet them, they are wearing a fursuit. LUL
Rules of engagement (physical contact)?
Hugs in fursuits, ALWAYS. Anything else, please ask. Cuddles and private places are 100% out of bounds.
How can I find you?
It's a small con. You'll see me in suit, ALOT. Otherwise you're on your own. No 4G means rare twitter contact. Basicly no twitter unless i'm in my room, out of suit, and on the wifi.
Can I talk to you?
If I'm out of suit, yes. But I am a mute performer (or at least I try to be), so please respect that and don't try to start a long ass conversation when I'm in suit. It's awkward for me.
Can I give you lots of money?
Who would ever say now to this? Just don't expect anything weird.

Can I hug or snuggle with you?

I realize that over the past year, more interest and support has developed for my fursuit after I got it finished. I'm really stoked at all the people who have said they like my suit. It means so much guys. :)
However, now that I'm getting more suit pictures and doing more suit stuff, I thought I would remind everyone WHERE they can find my fursuit photos.
Instead of making a second FA account, I decided to make a Tumblr for all my fursuit photos. Mostly because it's easier to upload multiple files compared with FA. SO, that being said, if you wanna see more fursuit photos of me, head on over to Tumblr! Only the best of the best make it on FA, but there are MANY more adorable photos of my suit out there. :3

spazzykoneko is having some serious rent issues right now. Her landlord hiked the rent price an INSANE amount with almost no warning! Now she needs quite alot of cash or she'll be in serious trouble!
I have hired Spazzy for many years for many things. She's a wonderfully talented artist with reasonable prices. The best you could hope for. If you have ANY spare cash, please help her out. Even if it's just a simple sketch would help.

Posted 12 years agoSo, by the subject I'm sure you know what this is about. Since FA came back up, it's been SWARMED by nothing but three types of journals: 1. Merry Xmas, 2. Open for comms, and 3. WEASYL.
So, I too moved to Weasyl during Fender's unscheduled vacation. I found a xfer program that helped me move my ENTIRE FA gallery in little under 7 hours! I have been meaning to back up my gallery for a while, and now it's done. When you spend thousands of dollars on art, you really should have it on more then one place. Besides being on my computer.
Since FA came back, I've been debating what to do next. Do I just say "fuck FA!" and rage quit? Do I just bail on Weasyl and huddle into my cozy FA bed? Or do I utilize both? Welp, I have decided on the latter. While Weasyl is a better site in pretty much EVERY DAMN way, FA still has the majority of activity including commission opportunities and eyes-open furries. Can't give up on FA till I have 1,700 some odd followers on Weaysl, as well as all the artists I hire move over as well. Only a FIFTH of those I follow on FA are on Weasyl. That's not alot. X.x
It's kinda like getting a Linux computer. "Hey, I don't need my Windows PC anymore! This is way better!". Yes, it is better. But... eh... I would still hold onto that Windows PC for a while. Get it?
SO, here's what I'm gonna do: My PRIMARY furry art site will be WEASYL. All my commission updates will take place there, and FA will follow... well... whenever. It might be weeks after the fact I put any new art on FA. Speaking of which, my Weasyl has about... 4 new art commission submissions on it not here on FA. You should check it out. ;)
FA will be for: Journals, Commission transactions, general communication.
Tumblr will continue to be my place for the majority of my fursuit pictures.

Conventions and Money: A Rant
Posted 12 years agoOk, so recently I have been having a hard time with money. It's been tough. Like, "are you gonna eat that?" hard.
So, like all of my life, I live tweet about it. I had one friend of mine grief me about it. Saying "you can't afford to eat but you're going to FC? How irresponsible!", plus alot of other grief.
I tried to explain to him my situation, but he didn't get it. And honestly, I hear people talk shit about others and their own financial situations all the time. Another friend of mine recently got laid off from his job. Two weeks later, he went to Megaplex. People I know tried to talk down about him and I was like "dude, he probably already had it fully paid for". It was like 3 weeks after he got laid off.
Same deal with me. Just because I'm having money issues now doesn't mean I can't afford to so something a fucking month away. Why do furries always assume that conventions are expensive as buying a fucking car? "You can't complain, you can afford going to _____ Con."
STFU, OMG. YES, I am having money issues now, but even though it's not his damn business, I plan to get holiday triple time pay from Christmas AND New Years that will MORE then pay for the only part of FC that hasn't been already paid in full MONTHS ago (which is just my part of the room).
After I explained all this, I called him obtuse, and he just raged quit on me like it was an insult. Do you not know what that word means? *sigh* I don't know why furries think conventions are the do all be all indication of ones level of responsibility and maturity. Yes, I'm sure there are furs out there who spend rent money on conventions and other irresponsible things, but that's not the case of every person. If you claim to be a grown up with a job, 401k, car loan, rent and retirement plan (LIKE I DO), then I'm sure you understand that budgets are more complicated then that.
Most people who plan their conventions properly will not get A DIME back from canceling a convention. You don't get much back from canceling a convention you're only a month away from. Probably get better value from attending a fully paid convention then just staying home and wasting that time at home regretting it.
Yeah, this next week is gonna suck for me. But I get paid friday, and then I will be able to breath again. That's how it works when you have a job like a grown up, so don't talk about other peoples lives like you know a damn. Did I make a mistake in the last few months that got me here? Yes. I probably did. I'm thinking it was most likely the PS4 that put me back about $500 when you add the games and accessories. But if I had less unexpected expenses, AS WELL, it probably wouldn't have.

Didn't do it very well and ended up having to do the same thing I am doing now (living from paycheck to paycheck) for about two months after that. IMPORTANT JOURNAL TO FRIENDS and those I know!
Posted 12 years agoSo, I had a hard conversation a week ago with a friend of mine who hasn't spoken to me in a while. I don't wanna go into TOO much detail because I want to keep them anonymous. But lets just say they explained why they had not spoke to me that whole time.
So, about a year or so ago, I had some REALLY hard times. I think alot of you who know me remember what happened. My job got REALLY REALLY bad on the subject of stress. It was the one year period where I was a lead. I climbed the ladder at my job, and it ended up being a mistake. Very short ladder too. Not one worth climbing. All I got out of that year was stress and I took it out on everyone I knew. My SAD (Social Anxiety Disorder) made it worse by fueling my paranoia and anger. Dark times.
I was mean, rude, upset, mad at life and my job. It was right around when I decided to make my CAPSLOCKCOYOTE twitter vent account because people were complaining I was too negative on my main account. Fair enough. It helped too. After things calmed down last year, I tried my best to explain my negative behavior on twitter, and most people who responded seemed to understand, so I felt like it was all good.
I guessed wrong. This friend of mine explained to me that many people have alienated themselves from me due to that bad year I had, including them. I guess that was my falt too for not really communicating what was happening to me to them, as well as not properly apologizing. Well, I'm trying to make restitution now. Since I have no idea who else feels the same way, all I can do is write this journal and hope it is received well with those who feel the same way my friend did.
I am very VERY sorry for my behavior for those many months in 2012. I really feel alot better now and 2013 so far has been alot better. I may have come across the wrong way, causing alot of you to make negative judgements of my character, and spreading that to others who don't know me well enough to know better. Please trust me, I am a good person. I'm far from perfect, that's for damn sure, but I at least feel I am a good human being. I'm so sorry for how poorly I acted last year, and please do take the time to note or DM me on Twitter if you want to talk about it or would like a more personal apology. I will not be mad or anything if you guys EVER want talk to me about ANY aspect of my behavior.
Please be open with me and tell me if you have a problem. True friends do that. They work out problems and don't bottle them up and hold it against others. I'm very happy my friend finally came to me last week to tell me these issues. It was hard to hear, but it ended up clearing the air. We're now slowly starting to talk again, despite things being a little awkward.
So again, if you feel the same as my friend did, please come forward. I wanna heal wounds and move forward with my friendships. THanks guys! And again, I am very sorry. :(

Minecraft: Back in the game!!

Hey guys, sup? Still no RF journal, this is about MINECRAFT! :D
So, our MC group is back at it on the SoFurry server! I decided to give them a try and the SoFurry server is surprising powerful and well done. Me and the rest of the MC group have gotten back into the pick ax swing of things and claimed a region in the server and spent a good 10 hours yesterday getting set up and such.
MC is my favorite video game, without a doubt. It feels super super awesome to be back in the game again, and with my friends in tow. :) We have a very remote site and I see alot of awesome good times on line together in the future!

Roommates: FC & VF
Posted 12 years agoSince there was a recent mix up, I decided I needed to keep track of roomies better. So, I'm gonna use this thread as a place to list my roomies for upcoming cons and, if need be, open for new slots. Right now I'm full up, but if I do need roomies, I'll do it here.
Quick rules for those who may be interested in the future or are already listed:
1. No drugs
2. No hanky panky (this is to be considerate of every other roommate)
3. No nudity (like, just lounging around nude for no reason)
4. Early to rise room so please be considerate of those who goto bed early.
(another reason for rules 2 & 3 is because roommates will have random guests, and no one wants to walk in on that, especially not strangers no one else knows. Not a very good first impression. I base this on personal experience.)

Tenchi Timeline (TT)
Posted 12 years agoSo, if you saw my most recent submission, you saw that TT tag.
This is something new I plan to do with my commissions. the Tenchi Timeline is a universe for my characters in which all their pasts and backstories and null and they are living happy in a home in the hills. Very similar to Tenchi, hence, Tenchi Timeline.
I've always loved anime, and loved that animes that always come across as sitcoms. Very happy family and friends living the good life. Their only cares in life is how they will find the ingredients for the Sukiyaki they wanna prepare for dinner.
This is now a driving idea in many of my future commissions, once I can actually afford to get some again. X.x Max is not haunted by the monster within, and Fate is not devastated by her past to a point she becomes a psychotic killer. Happy thoughts! :D Oh, and I guess Mita isn't scarred by her youth fighting for her life in a cave? I dunno. Alot of backstory, isn't it? I know it's hard to keep up, but I plan to make a journal with a synopsis of all my characters backstories so you guys can make just a little sense out of my commissions. XD
Anyway, so starts the alternate universe of the Tenchi Timeline. My characters will all be happy and cooking Sukiyaki. XD I hope you enjoy it. :)
This is something new I plan to do with my commissions. the Tenchi Timeline is a universe for my characters in which all their pasts and backstories and null and they are living happy in a home in the hills. Very similar to Tenchi, hence, Tenchi Timeline.
I've always loved anime, and loved that animes that always come across as sitcoms. Very happy family and friends living the good life. Their only cares in life is how they will find the ingredients for the Sukiyaki they wanna prepare for dinner.
This is now a driving idea in many of my future commissions, once I can actually afford to get some again. X.x Max is not haunted by the monster within, and Fate is not devastated by her past to a point she becomes a psychotic killer. Happy thoughts! :D Oh, and I guess Mita isn't scarred by her youth fighting for her life in a cave? I dunno. Alot of backstory, isn't it? I know it's hard to keep up, but I plan to make a journal with a synopsis of all my characters backstories so you guys can make just a little sense out of my commissions. XD

Fursona Realizations: Personal
Posted 12 years agoRecently I had a sort of a revelation about one of my characters.
First of all, I like to put alot of my own personality in my characters. Base parts of my characters and their personalities and backstories off of regrets, aspirations, hopes, dreams, and nightmares of my own. It adds something to one's characters that helps you kinda relate to them more and enjoy work done of them more.
So, recently I hired Neo to do another comparative piece of Max and Beast Max in the same shot. After writing the description, I realized something about what Beast Max represented. I always pictured Max in beast form as something like a super hero. A fun aspect of his character I could expand on (no pun intended). However, after I wrote that, I thought about the image. And I realize what Beast Max really represented. It wasn't about my love for werewolf fiction.. it was more personal. I realized it was a way to express the stress in my life. Beast Max is all the negative emotion and stress I push deep down inside me. I never realized how accurate a metaphor Beast Max was for my own personal issues.
I have ALOT of stress in my life. My job is most of it, and the rest is normal grown up crap like car payments, rent n shit. I'm also not much of an emotional person. I DON'T cry. I've never cried in years. I don't understand why. I guess it has to go pretty deep into my childhood, but I'm not gonna get that far into details. X.x Lets just say I realized that Beast Max represents the hardness of my life emotionally. Bottling things up and trying to manage my emotions in my own way.
I figured out that Beast Max really is a representation of this in my fursona. I always thought Fate was supposed to be the epitome of my negative personal aspects. She sorta is, but not in that way. Fate is kinda aspects of my life I regret. Like being an only child, as we as other parts and choices of my life that could of lead to me being a totally different person.
Anyway, I thought that was kinda interesting to have such an interesting self realization of my own fursona that I didn't get before. It will inspire much more emotional comm art of Beast Max in the future.
So what about YOU?? I'd love to hear stories of how your own personal life and emotions you put into your own characters. Please do share!

BLFC Cancelled / BronyCAN GO!
Posted 12 years agoSo, with much thought and a sad resolve, I must cancel BLFC.
Between the time off I get from my job and the money I make, I can only goto a certain number of cons. Right now that list is pretty damn big and I can not do all the cons I want to. :(
The choice was a combo of many reasons. BLFC would be the most complicated for me to get to mostly cause of where it's located. I'm not sure I could get free airline tickets, so I might have to spend a good $400 for transportation alone. The reason I can make the conventions I do is because they are local or in a city I can fly to for free. Same reason I can't attend AnthroCon or MWFF. The cost of ONE round trip ticket to Pittsburgh for example, is more then I spend at most conventions TOTAL. I have alot of expenses, including feeding and taking care of two people, rent, and car payments. The ONLY way I get away with attending the conventions I do is getting every bang for my buck. For example: FC will probably cost me about $300-400 total. If that.
So, because of the money and time aspect of my life, It limits how many conventions I can attend. They have to be spread out over the year pretty well too since I don't have the funds to save. BLFC would be in the spring and would share con resources with VancouFUR, ECCC and SakuraCon. That's quite alot of cons in a short period of time.
Because of this is why I now bring up BronyCAN. After EFNW13, I realized I need to attend more brony events. EFNW was amazing. Probably the best convention I've ever been too. Since BronyCon in MD is too expensive and far away, I decided to go with the next best thing. BronyCAN. I'm gonna take my cash and resources for BLFC and put them into attending BronyCAN next year. It's a hop skip and jump from VF, so I could simply drive there.
I hate having to be all conjelly again about BLFC after this year. SO many people had SUCH an amazing time at BLFC that I really wanted to make a go at it. But from how I can see right now, I won't be able. But, since I can't predict the future, something might happen to let me go. I had to choose between the two. Sucks having too, but 8 conventions is one year is TOO MUCH. I really can't afford it. :( My limit is about 7.
So, sorry furries, but yey bronies! See you ponies in Vancouver next year! :)

Yey! RainFurrest is a month away! Since everyone started their journals, I thought I'd do the same.
So yeah, the plan so far is this. Thursday will actually be pretty busy for me. I plan to get there as early as I can, considering I was up till 2am at work the night before. I'll be meeting up with NitroShep early in the morning to help set up the Headless lounge. We'll only have a few hours. You'd be surprised how early on thursday ppl start suiting up. At some point after that, I have to get to registration. No idea when or how. Hours aren't posted yet. Later thursday night I'll be picking up Zarroc from the airport. Just kinda welcoming him to Seattle and walk him across the street.
At 9pm on Thursday I'll have my Commissions panel. This year it's just ONE comm panel. Staff kinda fucked up and didn't talk or communicate well with me this year. They sent out the schedule TWO MONTHS before RF after not responding to my emails.... blah... anyway, the second panel "for the artist" had to be canceled. It will just be on Comm panel this year. I'll do my best to get some advice to artists for that panel, but it'll mostly be just me talking about my experience.
Anyway, after that I plan to just hang out with friends. Friday is free for me. Besides staffing duties, I'll be wandering around in fursuit almost all day. Saturday I will have a panel SUPER late at night. 10pm. It was a last minute panel idea. Not sure how well it will go over. Basicly it's called "Meet the Art Whores". Basicly, I got the idea after meeting many furs I've always wanted to meet at conventions. But not as GOH, but just kinda like bumping into them in the halls. So, I thought, why not have them all grouped together in one panel? It would give others like me who are big nerds the opportunity to meet up with these famous fursonas. But, I'm also worried ppl will see it as "popufurs" tooting their own horns. Which it isn't. Hoping for the best.
Sunday is free. I'll be suiting and partying all day the rest of the con. :) See you all there!
