Graduate!
Posted 10 years agoSo I graduated yesterday, on April 1. I fully expected to find out it was a joke and the ceremony was a day later. It wasn't, but I was unendingly amused at the thought.
I am now Max Kojote, BIE. I actually have a suffix!
Hilariously enough, my actual certification has 'Max' on it, my online alias is now official. This will never fail to make me laugh.

Antilia - A new furry MMORPG | FACERIG
Posted 12 years agoNot usually my thing to give out advertisements, but this game actually looks genuinely interesting. Links to the game website, and its kickstarter page, are below. I do want to see a western furry MMO. I played in Earth Eternal before they were taken over, and I did like the graphics and story behind it.

EDIT
So I found out from a friend that there's a little group working ons omething called Facerig. Basically a program that allows you to embody a character using webcam feed that can be streamed.

Level Up!
Posted 12 years agoGuess I'm 22 now. Wish I didn't have classes today, I'd prefer to just spend it at home chatting with
Thenran .
Ah well. Only this year of college to go and I'm done. At least I don't have anything due or exams on my birthday this year!

Huh, didn't expect that.
Posted 13 years agoAfter looking around I'm now seriously wondering just how significant a portion of my college consists of furries. I swear I keep finding out more people are, I think about a quarter of current students are actually furries. Which makes sense of a gaming college, but it was still unexpected.
Perhaps I might have realised this earlier if I actually went to FurJam 2011 and 2012. Something to consider for next year, when I will be focused on my major work and not multiple assignments at once.
-
Of course I might have also found out about this if I paid more attention on social networks. But that would necessitate keeping track of user information on social networks. It would also necessitate me having the common sense to realise "Yes that is in fact a fursuit." >_>
And after all the jokes I make about everyone ELSE failing Perception rolls...

Guild Wars 2
Posted 13 years agoCounting down the hours until the headstart.
I will be setting up camp on the Tarnished Coast server. If you want to contact me in-game, let me know and as soon as I remember, I'll give you the information needed.
I probably will not be interested in guild invitations.
Might be streaming, might not. Will have to see.
All for now. Maxwell out.

Another Year
Posted 14 years agoHard to believe it's been well over a year since mum passed away. I seem to have already adapted, which occasionally feels more than a little creepy at times.
Currently I'm continuing with my course, although some delays due to me messing up in a group assignment.
Rooming on my own now. Nicer to not have to creep around when I get up in the morning, but rather lonely at times.
Got myself an IT internship with The Funding Engine. Looking for a paying job but don't anticipate much luck until I know my course schedule for this trimester. Also, I am not that good in FileMaker it seems.
Life's mostly good. Of course it isn't perfect, but what is?
Here's to a good year.

College Beginning
Posted 14 years agoSo I've recently returned back to Australia after a couple of months in the U.S. I'm now set up doing a Games Programming course (Bachelor of Interactive Entertainment [Games Programming Major]) at Qantm College in Sydney. I'm now in a new home that is student lodging in Unilodge with
Iseeyouthere, which is also awesome. Unilodge is a nice place, as is Qantm. I have my timetables and all now as well so I can finally get things sorted.
I'm also just happy I have my internet set up here now. Missed it and being able to chat with you guys.
Here's to a new beginning. (raises his glass)

A new year
Posted 15 years agoAs Christmas and the New Year have gone, I've had time to catch my breath and think back to what has happened over the past three months. Both celebrations were quite tough, but I managed to get through it, as I did with my mother's birthday in November. It will likely be the same when my birthday comes by, the main thing is to keep moving forward.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me through the past three months. Everyone's kind messages helped me through this, thank you all. It's been a tough couple of months, but i survived,w ith help from friends, you guys, and especially my boyfriend.
It will be tough, but things move forward, and I'm making the best I can from it. I've got a new university course set up that I'll start after returning home. It's something I really want to do as well.
Times may be tough, but we get through them. We move on, we grow stronger. But not necessarily alone.
Thank you all. I hope you had a great Christmas, and here's to a better year than the last.

Aftermath...
Posted 15 years agoIt's been a difficult two weeks so far. Contacting a public trustee due to no will, going through all the belongings, clearing the house out, looking for where I will live next and more. I haven't slept properly for that time.
I'm kind of broken at the moment.
It still isn't hitting me yet. It just doesn't feel real. Even though I was the one who originally pronounced her dead. I can still see her lying there.
After being run ragged for two weeks, I am now in California with my somewhat controlling father and stepmother. I'm meant to be resting these holidays but it may not end up that way. Especially with little or no privacy.
I guess it just doesn't seem real. She had a wonderful funeral and wake, and that was it. Nothing else changed. It's like we went through the motion and quickly shrugged things off.
I dunno what will happen long term. I'm still fairly miserable, even if I can't show it. I think it's because I feel I should have kept her alive.
Thanks to eeryone for their support. It's helping keeping me sane.

Requiescant in Pace, mother...
Posted 15 years ago... Today I bade my first farewells to one of the most meaningful people in my life. A person who has stuck by me through my nineteen years of life, through the hardest of my near death to some of the most cheerful. But now, she's no longer here.
It feels... Odd. Unreal almost. I think I'm already feeling the first effects of it sinking in though. My mother's passed away... It's shocking, I always felt that she'd be there. It was worse because I discovered it upon waking up this morning. Not a pleasant wake-up call.
What happens now? Well... Funeral plans, dealing with the coroner (sudden death and all), talking with the family and trying to keep myself in one piece. Which will get harder and harder since I'm living on my own now. Thankfully my father will be here by the end of the week.
For now... I guess all I can do is say goodbye.

FurJam 2010
Posted 15 years agoFurJam was quite enjoyable despite my original nervousness. Got to meet up with Icey as well as make new friends among the Sydneyfurs.
Friday was a social event in a room appropriately named the 'Elbow Room'. We were spilling out of it and into the cocktail lounge. Mostly a social drinking event (we stayed sober), but it was still quite enjoyable.
We had a sign put up casually saying 'WE DON'T BITE'.
This was soon modified to say "Hard. >:3<"
Ten someone actually bit into the side of the sign, tearing a bit off.
Then "Unless on request!" was written on. Followed by...
"I request!"
At some point during that time, another piece of the sign had been bitten off. It was amusing. Especially watching people's reactions.
Saturday was a midday barbecue in an open park. Another social event, except the fursuits were brought out by a few people. It was cute seeing the kids run up to them in adoration. Later on one fursuiter was interesting with a dog, or trying to, it kept barking at him and running away, much to the amusement of all, including the owner.
Another lady actually compared us with Twilight fans. We were shocked and horrified, then had to accept that the little old lady had just owned us. It was humbling.
Then at night there was a fun night in the Eastern Suburbs Legion Club. There was a raffle, dancing, Uno, Poker... Also our own Aussie comedan who looked like a biker. We ordered pizza as well. Got to hug two of the fursuiters, one of which was the organiser. He practically shoulder checked me in the throat. Had to leave early in the end though due to not feeling well.
We were waiting for a bus to the station outside and it drove right past us without stopping. I called and vented my feelings calmly to the lady on the other line (I was told that she probably was terrified BECAUSE I was so calm). Another irrelevant bus skipped us, and then we made sure there was no possibility of the next bu skipping us, we were annoyed at having to wait for half an hour.
Friday opened up with laser tag. Against greater wisdom, I played both games instead of one. First game was two teams, our team won, it was quite enjoyable, if exhausting. Second one was four teams, I ended up being stuck in a 'camper' position as I had two people putting a bead on me. One of whom had the unfortunate luck to be shot by everyone whenever she moved.
Followed laser tag was a scavenger hunt sending us all around the city. First all around Darling Harbour, then through Town Hall near the Queen Victoria Building, followed by Martin Place, then Hyde Park, finally through Chinatown before our team made it back second and mostly dead. We had, however, gotten all but one of the possible items and all of us had been able to contribute individually. (I cannot believe that the person on top of the Archibald Fountain in Hyde Park is APOLLO. WITH A LYRE.)
In the end however, because we had gotten almost everything, bonus points and all, we beat the bonus points given to the team who had returned first. We took home the prize as the only team with a name. Team Bum. (laughs) The prizes for 2nd, 3rd and 4th were varying amounts of chocolate. Firsat prize also got chocolate and a badge commission each from... ACT Furs? I did pick up they were a furry radio group. The best reward was bragging rights, and the fact it was worth half-killing ourselves.
A nod out to the organiser, Ray, for spending his time organising everything and getting creative with the Scavenger Hunt.
I'm still aching from said Scavenger Hunt (laughs). But despite all that, it was worth attending FurJam. And now I feel lightly tempted to get a fursuit, only lightly, but still...
Anyway, that's all. This is Max, signing off.
