I've decided to stop posting things to Fur Affinity.
Posted 13 years agoI will be active occasionally, but I don't do as much here as I do on DeviantART. Besides, seeing those fursuit ads kinda disturbs me.
Back to friggin' school.

I watched Roadside Romeo today.
Posted 16 years agoToday, the Roadside Romeo DVD I ordered on Amazon arrived. After seeing Paul Blart: Mall Cop at the cinema, I watched the DVD. Believe it or not, I actually enjoyed it. If you're not familiar with Indian Bollywood cinema, watch some clips on my favourite clip fan-subbing site, Bombay TV.

I've found the songs to be very catchy even before I saw the film (I've listened to one of them every day :O ). They're much, much better than Disney's tween pop songs. ;P That's right, this film is by the largest Indian studio, Yash Raj Films, AND Disney. Pretty surprising huh? The only language was Hindi (with broken English), but the DVD fortunately had English subtitles, which I used to enjoy the film properly. It's just like when I saw CJ7 at the National Film Theatre in London.
Anyway, the film is basically your average Bollywood film, only with anthro dogs (including a cat and a mouse, and of course humans). But it ain't just another Romeo & Juliet adaption (Does anyone think it's getting over-adapted?). It's about a spoilt, rich dog named Romeo (the name of the film is a pun on the Indian term for "flirt") who gets abandoned in Mumbai by his owners and then bullied (but then befriended) by three strays with unique personalities and one Tabby cat who thinks she's a stray, finds love with a beautiful dog named Laila and an abusive, disgusting, evil bulldog named Charlie Anna. It may be cartoony with Hanna-Barbera sound effects and Looney Tunes esque gags, but some moments aren't all kiddy. Poor Romeo gets strangled about seven times, for example.
You may not be interested in the film, but I'm surprised I was. There are many Yash Raj references which you wouldn't understand unless you've actually heard of their films. The animation is close to being as good as the likes of Pixar and DreamWorks. I've heard that the usual Indian animation isn't as good, so you wouldn't believe it's actually Indian animation. Though campy at some times, there is never a dull moment. It was hilarious (I understood the jokes quite easily) and fun to watch in my humble opinion. Not to mention there were some beautiful romantic scenes. Not the kind of thing you'd expect me to enjoy, as well! ;)
