Taking on a few, let's see how this works out. Open until it says closed in the top line.
NEW: My method has changed, there's very little difference between what I do to sketch and ink anymore, so those two tiers have been merged into Lines.
Lines: $30, +$20 per character.
Dramatic inking (think an attempt at marvel): Add 10 per character.
Greyscale: Add 10 per character.
Color: $60, +$40 per character.
In the case of greyscale and color, please specify whether you want soft or hard shading, or I'll pick what seems to fit.
For backgrounds, the following are FREE:
- Transparent
- Single color
- Simple gradient/pattern
- Simple hint at perspective
- Or just letting me draw whatever background feels like it fits. This might get super fancy, it might be simple. Feeling lucky?
For complex backgrounds, the price will have to be negotiated. But I tend toward wanting to include them, so I might undershoot in terms of cost if I charge anything at all. If you want no background at all, please make sure to specify that too.

Posted 4 years agoAlright so. Opening up commissions for a little bit. In an effort to both produce satisfactory stuff on time and not burn out doing it, gonna try actually using the slots this time. So I 'm taking on *three* maximum, then I'm gonna rest from it a bit. This is not a race; same as ever, I'll only take on commissions I feel I can bring the fire to and turn over in a reasonable timeframe. The alternative would be a vague wait nobody's happy with.

Tax season, a move, and an erratic income/expense schedule at the moment have greatly increased my need for a financial buffer, and fortunately my muse is beginning to kindle and will probably come aflame pretty quicklike. So although I'm basically always open for commissions, right now I'm making an advertisement stating that yes, I am in fact open for commissions.
Also, for the sake of showing the turnaround time that can be expected, I'm actually going to track commission slots and progress this time. So that I don't zealously overextend myself and crash, we'll limit the number of slots to five, but as soon as one slot is completed it's considered open again. To respect privacy, I'm not going to post names in the list; just the commission type. SO.

The ideal first communication is by site PM, but as long as you give some indication of who you are, messengers above are acceptable as well. Initially I thought I would have a lean winter because I didn't make as much money this summer as usual. And on top of that, the recovery period from my upcoming hernia patch was going to be workless, resulting in another financial hammering.
And now I wish things were that simple.
In the time between last entry and now, I've been hammered by phone charges that are all kinds of illegal but that I can't fix (fortunately that plan is now canceled), had the rug pulled out from under me all December by my employer and given piss hours (and I believe possibly shorted on pay, looking into that), screwed over by a car battery that refuses to stay charged for more than five minutes, and various other expenses that I shouldn't have but that refuse to stop popping up.
Ergo, my last recourse that I can think of, particularly with regard to making money when I can't stand up in a week's time or so, is commissions. So let's give this one more try. Taking commissions en masse
Posted 13 years agoSo the situation is that this summer I made less money than usual. In other words, winter is going to be lean. That isn't such a big honking problem by itself, except... can you believe it? Two years after I get a right inguinal hernia patched, I find that nagging unzipping feeling on the left was in fact another one. Long story short, that has to get patched asap, lest it strangulate something. It isn't much of a bother now, but from experience, after the surgery I won't be able to work for a month. So, lean becomes skinny. As heck.
That being the case, I need a way to make money that won't involve standing. And then I remember, oh yeah. Commissions. So here we go.
