TFF Meme
Posted 10 years agoCON STUFF
Q: Where are you staying?
A: In a suite at one of the overflows. Maybe it'll be quiet. :)
Q: When will you be arriving and leaving?
A: Mid-day Friday, leaving Sunday.
Q: Who will you be rooming with?
A: My wonderful wife who will likely do all she can to avoid the con. What can I say, you guys are weird!
Q: Where will you be most of the time during the day/s?
A: Likely at the con hotel, although Saturday we do plan on visiting a friend of my wife and go check out a karting place East of Dallas.
Q: What/where will you be eating?
A: I'll figure that out once I'm there.
Q: Will you be having a room party?
A: Nope.
Q: Will you be drinking and/or getting drunk?
A: I'm often drinking the evening of a con, I don't think I get drunk often, but how would I know?
PERSONAL STUFF
Q: What is your gender?
A: Male
Q: How tall are you?
A: 6'5"
Q: If I approach you, will you chat with me?
A: I'll give you a chance. :)
Q: If I see you, how should I get your attention?
A: Call out, "Max" or just get my attention.
Q: How many furry conventions have you attended?
A: A handful, usually just 2-3 a year.
Q: Do you own a fursuit?
A: Nope! I can't handle the extra insulation and it just hasn't struck my fancy.
PERMISSIONS
Q: Can I hug or snuggle with you?
A: I'm not adverse to hugs, snuggling is flat out.
Q: How can I find you?
A: Look for the tall dude with a beard. I'm hard to miss.
Q: Can I buy you drinks?
A: I suppose, but it'd strike me as a touch odd.
Q: Can I look in your sketchbook?
A: Never had one.
Q: Can I take your picture?
A: You can try.
MISCELLANEOUS STUFF
Q: Do you do do free art, trades, commissions, badges?
A: Sorry, no art from me. Anything I do doesn't involve pens, pencils and brushes.
Q: Do you have a table in the Artist Alley / Dealer's Den or a panel in the Art Show? If so, what are you selling?
A: Nope.
Q: Do you plan to volunteer?
A: Nope.
Q: What's your goal for the con this year?
A: Enjoy myself like always!

Watching random people to gain pageviews
Posted 11 years agoWhat's with this trend lately? The last three people who have begun watching me (that sounds creepy) are people I don't know, aren't friends of people I know and are definitely not watching for my submissions. What's most telling is to look at the number of people they're watching: 19,000... 50,000... 163,000!
Holy shit, people! Is there some sort of contest going on or are you really that hard up to get more visibility for your art? Personally I find this behavior to be a bit insulting; if you want to genuinely watch me, great. Don't abuse the system and waste my time just so I check out your page.
Edit: Well, at least the one with 163k comes right out and says they're studying to see how many pageviews, shouts, watches, etc result from it.

Wild Nights 2014
Posted 11 years agoI've been kicking myself for missing last year so I've finally gotten around to registering for this year!
Now I just need to see if I can finish my truck camper before then. I just got done rebuilding the floor of the cab-over today and still need to redo the roof, wire it, insulate, reinstall the skin and paint it. x.x
This is new territory for me (working with wood/house-like construction), but I know there's been some curiosity over the things I do to pass time. Since I don't care to fill my gallery with this stuff, here's some links to photos of my progress so far:
After removal of the side skin, I finally get a view of what I have to look forward to.
http://maxzillian.com/camper/camper1.jpg
Built much like a house.
http://maxzillian.com/camper/camper2.jpg
More fun pending.
http://maxzillian.com/camper/camper3.jpg
The roof was removed by sliding 2x4s underneath the skin and screwing them together so the skin could be removed without bending it.
http://maxzillian.com/camper/camper4.jpg
http://maxzillian.com/camper/camper5.jpg
The cab-over is now exposed.
http://maxzillian.com/camper/camper6.jpg
And so is the bunk (the supplies have been there since the last CPFM).
http://maxzillian.com/camper/camper7.jpg
Floor has been ripped out of the cab-over. I'm glad I never slept in it because there was very little holding the plywood in place. Chances are I would have woken up with the camper resting on the roof of my truck.
http://maxzillian.com/camper/camper8.jpg
The front wall is rebuilt to replace the hodge-podge of wood that barely supported it. Extra wood is also added in case I install corner jacks in the future. The bottom of the cab-over is beginning to get rebuilt at this stage as well.
http://maxzillian.com/camper/camper9.jpg
A much stronger floor is built and the plywood is reinstalled.
http://maxzillian.com/camper/camper10.jpg
The cab-over gets a little rhinoplasty. I had to replace rotten wood in this area so I decided to reprofile the nose so it has a rearward rake instead of the forward rake you can still see in the background. This eats some cabin room, but should help fuel mileage a little as well as hopefully reduce the tendency for the camper to lift out of the truck bed.
http://maxzillian.com/camper/camper11.jpg
Next up is ripping out roughly 12 feet of ceiling and replacing it with fresh lumber and some plastic panels. Should be fun. :P

2014 con plans and other news!
Posted 11 years agoIt looks like this year I get the tighten the belt a little bit and limit where I'm going. Largely this means I won't be attending Furry Fiesta this year, but I do plan on attending Wild Nights which I am still kicking myself for missing last year. Hopefully I'll have my camper fixed up by then so I can rock the prowler look... I'm still debating whether to leave the weathered finish or to fix both the interior and exterior.
Other than that I'll just be haunting the local meetup and con, CPFC and CPFM. Granted, I didn't do much last year, but cons like RMFC, TFF, F3 and MFF have always been on my list of considerations.
Now, onto the reasons I'm tightening the belt: For one, my uncle is marrying his partner of more-years-than-I-can-recall in Hawaii and while my mom has offered to cover both airfare and lodging, Ashley and I have agreed that we will be paying her back for at least the airfare... a lofty sum of roughly $1800 between the two of us.
I've also got a wedding of my own to plan and pay for since as of late December 24th I am officially engaged. :] After buying Ashley her own helmet so she can ride as a passenger at Auto-crosses and hiding the ring inside the padding, I managed to completely take her by surprise. Mission successful! I think we're going to be surprised by what is going to be involved, but we're aiming for the wedding to be late this year.
So, big big changes for me this year. It's a lot of uncharted territory, but I wouldn't enjoy life if I already knew the ending.

Central Plains Fur Con
Posted 12 years agoWell, it looks like CPFC was a success. With 97 people attending, a great hotel and some perfect weather (most would probably say it was chilly) I thought the con went very well; especially considering this is the first year. Major kudos to Merk, Dale and all the supporters!
I was billed to take on the role of head of security and I'm happy to report that it was a very boring job! As far as I know we didn't have any trouble, everyone was well behaved and the hotel was kept remarkably clean. Instead I ended up helping out with the pizza party, fursuit games and attempting to help Merk with the chaos that is AV during the variety show... I'm getting two-way radios for next year.
Other than that, it was very relaxing and I got to hang out with my friends as one would hope to do during a con. Out of all the volunteers/staff members I fear I likely did the least, but someone has to set the low bar. :]
We had four main acts for the variety show which encompassed Ryken playing a keytar piece, Kiwi (the spawn of Oki and Askari) doing a cheer leading routine, Hexadoodle with a badass piano piece that encompassed a number of different songs and styles and Blitz on his guitar playing some hair-band song I can't recall the name of. Ultimately Blitz won the vote as the winner of the show, but it was by a small margin (14 to 16) over Hex. As a result, I felt like a talentless hack. :P
Honorable mention goes to Kyro who made for a good roommate yet again and being a good sport about a terrible drink, and honestly everyone in attendance for being an awesome group. This was easily the best group of furs I've seen in a while. I'd do shout-outs, but there's too damn many people to list. :P If you're on my watch list and attended the con, congrats, you're awesome!

Central Plains Fur Meet
Posted 12 years agoDamn, I nearly forgot about this one! Thankfully nearly everyone I know here has been pimping the heck out of the meet. Way to go, guys! ;)
In case you're reading this and hadn't know, CPFM is a yearly campout at a nearby lake in which we hang out, eat good food and enjoy a nice little lake. www.centralplainsfurmeet.com
It's $15 and I guarantee the food will be great... so far the last two times I've gone, I've taken part in prepping the Saturday night feast and I don't think we've ever finished dinner without left-overs. Miserably full is a nice way to put it. :)
Anyway, it looks like I'm going to make it a one nighter this year, showing up Saturday morning and leaving Sunday afternoon.

Meme time!
Posted 12 years agoWhat better way to fill a lack of journals than with a meme? ;)
1. What is your natural hair color?
Auburn with some blonde highlights if it's during the summer.
2. Where was your ID pic taken?
During a blind night-time run on a roller coaster.
3. What's your middle name?
John
4. Your current relationship status?
Taken!
5. Honestly, does your crush like you back?
I'd be wasting my time if she didn't...

Buzzed! The last couple days have been taxing and some whiskey is helping me not give a fuck. :]
7. What's the color of your underwear?
At this time... blue.
8. What is one thing that makes you happy?
A successful project.
9. Who was the last person you cuddled with?
My girlfriend.
10. If you could go back in time, and change something what would it be?
I wish I would have gone to a school that had a better known engineering program. It's become pretty obvious to me that talent accounts for little when you're trying to apply for an entry level engineering job.
11. If you MUST be an animal for ONE day?
Dog, duh!
12. Ever had a near death experience?
I had pneumonia when I was less than two years old which supposedly put me at great risk, but other than that I've had a handful of close calls, but nothing that actually had me knocking on the door.
13. Something you do a lot?
Work on projects.

Nothing right now, but Radioactive by Imagine Dragons has plagued me.
15. Who did you copy and paste this from?
kai_ren_sky

The ability to fly.
20. What's the first thing you notice about the opposite sex?
Face and voice.

Amongst the general public... the fact I'm a furry and therian.
22. What's your favorite color?
Dark orange.
23. When was the last time you lied?
I want to say a month ago, but I can't recall what it was about.

27. If you could describe life in one word what would it be?
Acceptance.
28. When was the last time you gave/received a hug?
Last Sunday.
29. Have you ever been kissed in the rain?

Sleeping.
32. What was the last thing that made you upset?
The fact that I can't rely on some people at work anymore and it's negatively effecting my job.

34. If you could have any last name in the world, what would you want?
Wolfe. Yes, cheesy. I don't care. :)

25. What are you eating or drinking at the moment?
Maker's Mark.
26. What's your favorite smell?
My sense of smell is greatly diminished, but the smell of older diesel engines always made me smile... yeah, being a gearhead is a sickness.

All is well
Posted 12 years agoLong story short, I've been pretty busy the last month or so and haven't been giving Ashley the time she deserves. Seeing me take out vacation for the con and seemingly not enjoying it only helped to stir some emotions she had been holding back and it all came to fruition Saturday night. Ultimately I decided it was best if I spent the rest of my night with her and Sunday morning neither of us were in the best of moods so I decided to just hit the road and head on home. It was a awkwardly silent drive home and I ultimately succeeded in shoving my foot in my mouth and firmly jamming my head up my ass that evening... what can I say, I've got talent.
The good news is that was our first fight in just shy of the first full year of our relationship so I'd say we're doing pretty well. It was touch and go last night, but I think we've worked everything out today and are both willing to just turn the page and move on.
Ultimately I wish I would have had more of a chance to hang out with you all as I'm sure we'd have a blast as always, but that just wasn't going to be the case. Here's to next time!

My sudden leave of TFF
Posted 12 years agoI just wanted to apologize for my sudden disappearance at TFF. Saturday night something came up and ultimately I ended up leaving early this morning without a chance to say my farewells to everyone. I know I was a little down in my mood this weekend and I apologize. Know that I was more than happy to see you all again and look forward to it in the future.
I'll likely release more details on what happened Saturday night, but for now I think it's best if I keep it private. Rest assured that this was not a furry related incident.

You know I'll be there!
Posted 12 years agoIt's on, bitches!
Posted 12 years agoFinally got around to reserving a room and registering for the con. This includes my girlfriend Ashley who, since she could not come up with a nickname for the con and left it up to me, will have the badge name NOTAFUR. Fitting. :)

F3 Con
Posted 13 years agoWell, it's technically been official for a couple weeks now, but I am registered and booked for F3 con! So far it looks like I'll be departing Kansas sometime Friday and hope to get there by dinner... being a 5 hour drive, that really shouldn't be a problem. From there I'll stick around until Sunday and truck my fuzzy butt back home. Here's to a great weekend in the making!
Summer vacation
Posted 13 years agoWell, it came to be that time of the year again: my week long summer vacation. Somehow I don't usually plan this, but always end up doing some sort of long distance week long vacation every year. This year I went to Bonneville SpeedWeek to help an old college friend of mine race his Suzuki GSXR1000.
It started off last Saturday with me departing Kansas in my trusty pickup truck at 7 am. Originally the plan was to make the trip in two days, but after hearing another Kansan made it there the day before in 17 hours, I was bound and determined to match that!
Overall the drive went pretty well. While fueling up in Laramie, WY, I managed to somehow pick up a 32 year old hitch hiker who abandoned a broken down Greyhound bus on his way from New York to Seattle. This is ironic in some retrospect as the last time I drove West back in 2005, I picked up a hitch hiker then as well.
Ultimately I initially enjoyed his company during what would otherwise be a lonely drive to Salt Lake City, but began wishing he'd stop talking as the last hour of his trip neared. What can I say? I can only talk about music, skate boarding, and speculation over motorcycle riding so many times in one day...
Before I began contemplating roadside murder I dropped him off at the Greyhound station in SLC (in time for him to catch the bus he was going to catch from there, beating the broken down bus), he paid me $40 to help with the gas, and we departed paths. Nice fellow, but I don't care to talk to him again. ;)
Anyway, I finally made it to the flats at about midnight, just in time to pitch my tent in the mud (my friends picked an "awesome" camping ground) and catch some sleep before the next day.
Come Sunday, I got to watch my friend make more qualifying passes for his competition licenses as he worked his way up towards the 200 mph mark. By Wednesday, the fastest he had managed was 189 mph (short of the 204 mph record), but I think we were all pleased that the bike never had a catastrophic failure and he made a good running for his first time attempting those sort of speeds. Other than that, the salt flats were hot, the days long, and the sleep poor. I don't plan on going back. ;)
By Wednesday afternoon I picked up my girlfriend from the SLC airport and we spent the night in an over-rated hotel in prep for our drive to Roswell, NM, that took place Thursday. However, this was not before I replaced a fuel selector valve in my truck Wednesday night and then the spark plugs Thursday morning. The good news was that the strut started and idled better thanks to the plugs, but the valve didn't fuel a vapor lock problem I kept having with the fuel system. I ended up living with the truck throwing fits after hot start-ups for the rest of the trip.
We didn't get into Roswell until midnight after snaking our way through New Mexico, but Friday was the real treat as we went down to Carlsbad to check out the Carlsbad Caverns. While I was disappointed that it wasn't a cavern I had to crawl through a use a flash light as my only source, I was still awe struck by the sheer size of the caverns. To give some perspective, it took a 1.5 mile hike to get down to the main cavern and some of the areas could swallow an entire city block, if not more.
If any of you ever wind up in that area, I implore you to check it out. I have photos on my Facebook page, send me a note if you'd like me to accept a friend request so you can see them. Be aware that I am only offering this to people I know well. Sorry.
The rest of the trip was pretty well unremarkable. We left Roswell Saturday morning and arrived back in Wichita by 7 PM to pick up my dog from the parents of my girlfriend and then made our short trek back to Newton. Needless to say, I did jack shit on Sunday. I earned it! ;)
All in all, I spent about 39 hours worth of driving and put nearly 3000 miles on the truck. I've yet to calculate how much I spent on fuel, but I imagine it'd pay for a couple plane tickets. >.>

TMI... Thursday
Posted 13 years agoThe Trickster
Posted 13 years agoLately I've been wondering if there's a lesson I should be learning, but it hasn't dawned on me yet.
Starting about a month ago, I kicked off one of the longest strings of bad luck I've ever had. It all started when I was loading a new tune onto my truck. 3/4 of the way into the process, Windows 7 claimed the tuning software had froze. Unfortunately what this meant was that my PCM was just turned into a door stop because if the tune loading process is stopped at the wrong moment, it instantly corrupts the internal memory. I chalked this up to my luck running out as far as tuning goes. I'd gone over 50 tune loads without a hitch which is abnormally high. It was never a matter of if I'd brick a PCM, it was when.
The next day I saddled onto my trusty motorcycle as the sports car was down for repairs and rode it into work. I ended up taking a half day off work and rode 40 miles to the South side of Wichita (the bike has a seat that is incompatible with my butt) and bought a used PCM from a local salvage yard for $100. Using another PCM was going to use yet another license slot on my tuner (valued at $100 a slot), but I was OK with that as long as I was going to get the truck running that day. After connecting the tuner to the new PCM and accepting the use of another vehicle license, I soon ran into errors preventing me from being able to do anything. As it turns out, the PCM was for a 1996 Caprice with the 4.3 liter V8, not the 5.7 liter V8. This was kind of crucial as the tuner could not tune the 4.3 liter programming in the PCM.
The irony was that I could use the tuner to identify what the PCM was for so it should have known it was incompatible, but it still used a vehicle license before I got that far. The warranty claim with the tuner vendor is still pending on that matter.
So I was now left with two PCMs I couldn't use and a truck that still wouldn't run. Thankfully after a couple days without a vehicle, I got the sports car running so I at least had something with a roof to tool around in. Ultimately I sent both PCMs to a fellow in Ohio who, for $150, would repair the bricked PCM and reprogram both to share the same VIN and software. I'll get back to this later.
In the meantime, my cell phone began acting up in the high heat we've had lately. It has a handy knack for going into a reboot loop until it cools back down. Usually this is only if I take the battery out and leave the phone off for about a half hour. While I was contemplating to haggle with Verizon about renewing my phone a couple months early, they miraculously released a new over-the-air update for my two year old phone. It was labeled as fixing my specific problem, but I wasn't going to hesitate trying!
Now, while my phone seems to be doing better and is consuming less battery, it has rewarded me by attempting another update automatically at 2 AM for the last three days and rewards me by sounding off "DROID!" while I'm trying to sleep. Lovely. ;)
Amongst that stuff I've also had a handful of things break or go abnormally wrong, but they're not worth spelling out.
So, returning back to the PCM debacle, the repaired/programmed PCMs showed up on my door step today, hardly a week after I sent them (nice turn around!). Making sure to restart the netbook before I attempted to flash the tune onto the repaired PCM, I held my breath about an hour ago as I watched the progress bar slowly fill. After about 90%, my fears came to fruition... another bricked PCM.
The only thing I can figure is that the latest Windows 7 update is not playing nice with the software and now I'm forced to load XP on this netbook... I like to refer to it as the $300 update, in reference to what it has cost me so far.
So far I've been just shrugging it off and laughing about it. What else can I do? What good would getting mad about it do (not to say I haven't been frustrated)? Still, it makes me recall the stories I've heard on Native American lore about Coyote, The Trickster, and how he'd often play tricks and pranks on people to teach them lessons. Eerily accurate in some ways.
The only problem is I've yet to latch onto what that lesson is. ;)

CPFM Report
Posted 13 years agoWell, I'm only a week overdue... what can I say, I don't have the free time I used to. Such is life!
Anyway, once again (like there was ever doubt), the Central Plains Fur Meet this year went off great and without a hitch. It was wisely decided to hood the meet a month or two earlier last year which meant instead of 95+ degree sweltering heat, we were greeted with a cozy 80-85 degree weekend. Beautiful!
I ended up driving down to the meet right after work which got me in an hour before dark... just enough time to get my tent up. I also brought along my two year old husky/malamute mix, Aura, to see how she'd behave in a camping environment and around a large group of strangers... not to mention the dreaded fursuiters!
Thankfully, she did very well. Despite being a bit noisy and wanting to play a little rough with another husky there, she was very well behaved around people and wasn't an utter terror to control. I'll admit, I wasn't quite ready for as much attention as she drew. Not that it was a bad thing, but simple acts like getting across the camp ground suddenly became a bit of a challenge!
Mikase was the first "unfortunate" fursuiter to approach her which was especially interesting because his fursuit was so realistic. Aura approached him like he was a huge dog and began licking his nose in a submissive fashion. It was cute, I wish I had taken a photo. ;) Thankfully she was very well behaved about the fursuiters, neither getting too excited or scared around them. Cross that one off the checklist and a major concern off my back!
Unfortunately once it came time to go to sleep at around 1 AM, I quickly found that she did not like staying in a tent, let alone one getting tossed around by the wind. After she spent the next two hours pacing around the tent and then beginning to whine louder and louder, I finally called it in and took her home. I knew I wasn't going to get any sleep and I wasn't going to let her get loud enough to disrupt everyone else.
Thankfully home is only a 40 minute drive for me and I got to sleep in a nice comfy bed out of the wind and in the AC. ;) I ended up leaving her home the next day and showed up to the meet late and then went home at 1 AM since I had not arranged for anyone to take care of her. Sorry guys, but after the first night I could tell that I was going to enjoy the meet much more if I wasn't toting a dog around.
Otherwise the meet was a nice low key event like I was looking forward to. I got to hang out with the awesome people in this area, go kayaking on the lake, and enjoy some superb meals at the hands of the event organizers, Merkindesr and JimDaleFox. The only "hiccup" was a storm cell that had spawned some tornados and funnels West of us which caused some excitement, but by the time they got remotely close to us everything had settled down. Like I was going to let some tornado disrupt me cooking sausage anyway! Hmph!
Anyway, long story short, awesome event. I plan on going back as long as I'm welcome. Fortunately I seem to get along with people. ;)
In other news, something interesting happened today. For the last few weeks I've been mulling/dreading telling my girlfriend of two months that I'm a furry. This was a secret I had been keeping from her because I was afraid she would react negatively to it. In an odd twist of fate, she had read a horoscope this evening for me that basically said there was something that had been on my mind lately and that it was time to let it out.
It kind of caught me off guard as I wasn't even thinking about telling her at that time, but I decided it was time to nut up and get it over with. Fortunately she had never heard of furries before so it was a good opportunity to set things straight and make it clear that there is some bad press about furries if she does ever decide to look it up. I don't think she fully understand what a furry is yet, but at least now I'm not worried about introducing her to the fandom and seeing if she wishes to be involved. At the very least, it's something that I do not think will interfere with our relationship.
Good day. :)
Anyway, once again (like there was ever doubt), the Central Plains Fur Meet this year went off great and without a hitch. Get to know me: meme (It's all the rage!)
Posted 13 years agoStolen from... well, numerous people. I have to wake up in 4 hours for a flight to Indiana, but I'm not remotely tired so a meme is in order. Naturally!
1. We all know what we call you, what about the folks at home? Whats your name?
Some people call me.... Eric. Sorry, you're not getting a last name, it'll cost you!
2. How tall are you?
6'4", blame my father.
3. Natural hair color? (if you can remember it)
Brown.
3. What about eye color?
Hazel.
4. What orientation are you?
I've often contemplated this and have pretty well confirmed I'm straight. I'm more than comfortable around people of all sorts, but dudes just don't stir me. ;)
5. Are you single, taken, or undecided?
Currently in a relationship for a little over a month now.
6. What do you do in your spare time?
I'm a total gearhead. I usually spend the majority of my free time wrenching on cars. This often gets put to use working on cars for friends, but I typically enjoy working on my own toys... my time constraints are very loose.
7. What's your job?
I'm a product performance specialist for AGCO Corporation, the third largest agricultural equipment manufacturer in the world. Long story short, the primary purpose of my job is to process warranty claims, publish service bulletins, process pre-delivery inspection forms and maintain an online knowledge database. Aside from the boring work, I also serve as one of the leading experts on our large square balers and usually get dragged into all sorts of odd jobs because of it.
8. What's one thing you like about yourself?
On a number of occasions I've heard people describe me as stoic and level headed, and while I haven't mulled over it much before, I do take pride in that. Numerous people have turned to me for advice or expertise and while there are times I don't care to mull over something, I do take pride in that people consider me to be knowledgeable and trustworthy enough to be worthy of that privilege.
9. Alright, now what about something you dislike about yourself?
I tend to get stressed and annoyed easily which makes me a very irritable and snappy person to be around. There have been numerous times I've found myself snap at someone for nothing and I instantly regret responding in such a fashion.
10. What's some things your friends noticed about you when they first met you?
Good god I'm tall. :P
11. Of what faith/religion are you(if any at all?)
I can't say I sway towards a particular faith or religion. As far as beliefs, I do tend to sway towards shamanism for guidance, but I encompass a number of beliefs and ideals from various sources.
12. Do you drink?
Only on social settings. Typically I only drink to get a buzz, but at Furry Fiesta I was flirting with disaster Sunday night.
13. Do you smoke?
The occasional hookah or cigar in a social setting. Otherwise I don't smoke at all.
14. What are your fears?
As shallow as it sounds, financial ruin. That's a load of stink I just don't need in my life. A close second is to be completely alone.
15. What are your dreams/goals?
Someday I'd like to semi-professionally race in motorsports. Or at least have the freedom to race at a professional level.
16. Ever had any crushes/ex's in the past/present?
I've had numerous crushes in the past, and still have ex's to this day... those don't tend to go away.
17. Who's your best bud?
A local friend of mine named Tim. Within the fandom, Kyro would have to be the poor soul. ;)
18. Alright, you got the cravin' for munchies, what'cha reachin' for?
Peanut butter sandwich or string cheese.
19. Favorite drink?
Alcoholic: Blue Moon
Non-alcoholic: Mountain Dew
20. Favorite color?
Blue or orange.
21. If you had any super power, what would it be?
Pff, easy! The ability to take the form of any creature.
22. Favorite movie?
Blazing Saddles
23. Least favorite food?
Italian food.
24. Quick! You have only one meal left before you die!!! What is it?
Super Sonic Cheeseburger... keeping it simple and quick.
25. What do you drive/wish you drove?
I have three drivers: a 1985 C-10 Chevy pickup, a 1987 Chrysler Conquest, and a 1983 Honda XL600R. Gearhead, remember?
I'd really love a Porsche 911 GT3, but it wouldn't be a daily driver.
26. Most disliked bug?
Spiders.
27. Most hated pet peeves?
This is something that grew from my job... asking for expert advice, then doing what I advise you not to do because it won't work or completely ignoring explicit instructions that will work, then act as though I was of no help.
28. Dislike in life?
Gas prices... the truck is expensive to feed, but it's worth it!
29. Most annoying?
Internet trolls.
30. Most disliked TV show?
Biased news media. This seems to be a rampant problem anymore... only reporting what makes for a good story and leaving out crucial details.

Today was... interesting
Posted 13 years agoFirst off, to those of you that know I live in Kansas, I came out unscathed. All of the storms flew East of my home and the tornado that struck Southern Wichita was a 40 minute drive away.
Anyway, ironically enough I actually spent the majority of my day with a couple friends and my girlfriend attempting to chase these storms and spot a tornado. We followed behind a couple cells that looked promising, one of which looked REALLY promising, but despite obvious rotation we never saw anything hit ground.
By the time it started growing dark around 8:00 PM, we turned back to Wichita to grab some dinner and disperse. It wasn't until I was getting ready to drop my girlfriend off in Western Wichita that we got notice of the tornado over the radio. At that time it was a good half hour from Wichita, but sounded like it may be heading towards her home so we booked it up to Newton to play it safe and ride things out until the tornado passed. I managed to get home with 10-15 minutes to spare before any reports began to flow in about the tornado reaching Wichita.
After getting home and setting up my 2 meter radio, I began listening in on the spotters in Wichita and while one guy got really wound up as he was following right behind the tornado, it sounded like it was relatively mild. Reports were half mile wide, but judging by what I heard concerning damage and pictures I've seen so far, it was likely a F2 or F3 tornado. Dangerous, and will cause damage, but rarely levels a home. Based off preliminary supports, I going to go out on a limb and say there were no causalities, or at least very few. It appears the tornado entered Wichita from the South Central end and went East North East.
So that's my excitement for the day. Blew a day chasing storms only to miss a tornado on my back step. :P Granted, with the rainfall and night, it would have been nearly impossible to see anything.
So hopefully all of the other Wichita furs made it out alright! Sheba was in the path, but looks to be OK and out of the handful that I do know the locations of, they should have been in the clear. Here's to hoping that everyone in KS, OK and the surrounding areas came out OK!

Advice needed for camping with a dog
Posted 13 years agoI've been mulling over bringing my dog, Aura, along to Wild Nights. She's a two year old husky malamute mix who is generally well behaved, but has a terrible case of ADHD. I have no doubt I'll be able to handle her and keep noise down to a minimum, but she has never encountered fur suiters before and also has a bad habit of jumping on people (although I bet I could train her out of it by the end of the con).
If anyone has any experience on this, I would greatly appreciate the insight.

Posted 13 years agoIt's that time of the year again! Time for the annual Central Plains Fur Meet!
http://www.centralplainsfurmeet.com/index.html
Don't let the state of Kansas shy you away. This is at a local lake and despite horrendously hot weather last year, it was a very enjoyable experience. This year, being in May, the weather should be spectacular!
Hanging out with friends, music, lake, grilled food, gun range (if that's your thing)... think of it as a little get together and time for simple relaxing!
Also, if you don't go, I'll give you sad eyes. Seriously, don't make me!

Furry Fiesta (for real this time)
Posted 13 years agoSo if my previous drunken journal was any indication, Furry Fiesta managed to live up to the hype and then some. :]
This had been my first indoor con since RMFC in 2009. While I didn't get a chance to see some of the panels I wanted to catch, it was all for good reason: everyone at TFF was awesome! I'll admit, it's an odd position to have to pick between who you want to hang out with and having some difficulty balancing it out!
I have to give props to
for booking a room and being an awesome roommate. Also a tip of the hat to old friends and acquaintances:
and a handful of others! Seriously guys, you're the reason I've stuck with the fandom. Without people like you, I'd have no reason to hang around.
Also worthy of mention is a few new acquaintances:
and a few others. Sorry that I can't recall everyone's name! My memory is truly terrible in that sense. >.>
The con is practically a blur, but it'll definitely be a fond memory for ages. I'm confident in saying that Furry Fiesta is now on my list of "must attend" for next year!
