General | Posted 11 years agoI'm thinking about streaming some art tonight but I'm not sure if I want to or not.
Or, if I am going to, whether it should be a paid/commission stream or if I should just work on my own shit for the whole time.
I have maybe... three files? I think, yhea. Three files I can work on.
The poster, the NSFW comic, and the NSFW still which are all in their lineart stage so idunno how exciting that is.
Mmmnn.... Maybe I should do a "pay what you want" for sketches?
That might be fun.
Iunno. It's 6:30pm here so I have some time. I'll probably start after dinner (9:30/10ish?) so I have some time to think it over.
So hollah at me and tell me what you think.
In other news, it was my birthday two days ago and now I'm one year closer to being an old fart. :P
I had tea at a tea house with my parents and boyfriend and then later had a get together with the rest of my family at the parent's house.
So that's really nifty.
Plus there is a car show this weekend that I'm going to with everyone. Fun times!!
I'm also babysitting a dog. I feel like I'm way too mean to her but she just won't listen to me. ;~;
She completely ignores me when I try to be nice. I mean, straight up just looks the other way like "yhea yhea screw you I don't care"
Oh and I also just took two hours to make a cheap set of shelves. I mean they look fuckin' awesome but I feel like a failure at efficiency for taking so long.
At least I never messed up! AHAHAHAHA-/sobs/
I guess that'll be enough of my chattering then.
I feel bored but not really bored.

Up to speed
Beginning of my last school year I thought it would be a good idea to a bunch of commissions. I, indeed, did have the time then. I accepted a large amount of them, several that were way more involved then I had expected, and had this notion that I'd be able to finish them all while still doing school work. Initially I got a large amount done but as school picked up I realized how I wouldn't be able to finish the work load I had. Inbetween then and my christmas break I refunded those large jobs that I knew I couldn't finish and hadn't started yet. During break I got everything out of the way (there was a minor complication and a few extras that I was doing free of charge but everything that had been bought with money had been completed to order). Taking all this on in my senior year was probably the stupidest move I could have ever made.
So why didn't I do anything about it sooner? Because, I'm stupid. These aren't excuses but the facts: I have depression, especially during the winter months, and when the pressure comes down I tend to crack. Here I had gotten in too deep and was too afraid of letting people down that I kept telling myself I could still do it. That if I had another weekend I could finish my commissions. Funny how another week ends up being a month. Then two months. And next thing you know you have four papers due that you've been working on and you haven't even touched those commissions. I'm not excusing my behavior, and I for sure will make a point in not letting myself ever do it again. But it was indeed a learning experience that unfortunately took me a while to really get. So I thank those that dealt with me, who understood me, who put up with me, and I say sorry to you all.
So... Commissions?
What does this all mean? Well, it means that commissions are down. At least, the commissions that you knew. I've thought long and hard about this. I've asked myself what the best way to handle all of this would be and I think I've settled on a solution since I still would like to offer my services.
I will be doing only two types of money-based transactions.
Firstly, I am working on a poster project. This lets me explore my own characters more, delve into their stories, and express their backgrounds with all of you. By doing so, hopefully you'll come to love them and my art. Maybe you'd even like a poster for your wall. Well, I would like to have that happen. It means a lot of practice for me but it's something I really would love to do.
Secondly, stream commissions. These are really nice because you see it done right before you. There's no "oh I wonder how my art is doing". You know because you can see it. It's also nice because I can say "hey I'm going to be streaming for two hours today" and based on my experience I can say "I'm taking one commission" and it'll be done by the end of the stream. I don't plan on doing these streams often, as I don't currently have a desire to do commissions but that is the glory of it all. When I am motivated and have time I can go do it and everyone gets their commissions right away.
Does this mean no large, detailed commissions from me? Well, I've thought about this too. Two hours is not enough time to do a large commission piece as I simply am not that fast. Sure, some streams will be longer which means I can do those larger ones there but I thought maybe if I were to do large commissions that the details would be as follows: I have two weeks to finish the commission from the day I accept the payment and after those two weeks a refund can be requested if the product is not delivered. No questions, no buts. Even if I am literally one step away from finishing and the clock rolls over and it's one minute past midnight. Refund. This puts a lot of pressure on me and really ensures you get what you want. It's a safety net. That being said, I'm not doing this. Not yet anyway. As I said, I don't have any drive to do commissions so we'll tackle this more when the situation arises.
What will you be doing now?
I'm getting a job. Hopefully. So keep your fingers crossed! In my free time I'll be doing random streams whenever I want to draw. Just relaxing and getting back to improving on my skills really. Commissions are still closed atm so the only opportunity you might have is if I do a commission-stream which I don't want to do for a while. But keep yer eyes peeled I guess.
I am interested in trades. I think it'd be fun, so if you are interested in that then send me a PM and we shall see. I'm not making any promises until this job this is sorted out and I know the amount of free time I'll have each week for these things.
