computer issues and moving soon
Posted 11 years agoSo, lately my desktop has been getting more and more uncooperative and I have no idea why. It's not doing anything terrible, just my tablet refuses to cooperate with it, which I figure is just windows 8 not getting along with my monoprice tablet, and it refuses to cooperate with any web browser. does chat programs fine, just no web browsing. I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually, but for now I have to do practically everything on my laptop, which isn't near as fitting for my work and getting up there in age.
In another piece of news: we're moving soon! Finally getting out of this shitty, cramped apartment and moving into a much nicer place.
Both of these things mean things will be a bit slower from me for a while. Have a lot of packing and unpacking to do, and fighting the computer to do it's damn job will take up a lot of time and energy. Just a heads up for you all.
Also: if anyone has advice on the computer issues I certainly wouldn't say no to hearing it ^.^

Commission updates
Posted 11 years agoMaking a few changes to my commissions, so updating all that info here for everyone to see.
First are prices. Commissions are currently my only income, I work very hard on them, and I'm currently not even making minimum wage on them. So the prices of commissions will be increasing. This doesn't affect the current batch of commissions I'm working on, but the next batch on will be affected. You can find the new prices at the bottom of this update.
Second is that I'll be accepting more commissions at once from now on. I'll be accepting 6 commissions at once to start work on before cutting off. I'll all be accepting reservations for the next time slots open up. I was already doing so, but I figure making it official is a good idea. There are no limits on the number of reservations I'll take, so send me a note if you want a commission, even if my current slots are full.
Third will be what I'm calling the Labrats. Hopefully at least once a month I'll be working on a pic that I just want to work on. This is where the Labrats come in. If you want to see your character in my style but don't have the money for a full commission, then signing up as a Labrat volunteer only costs $5. You'll be able to appear in the next personal piece I work on.

Commissions and new opportunity
Posted 11 years agoCommissions open again, well one slot anyway, already had three requests before I even finished the last set of commissions. So if you want that last slot send me a note as soon as possible. Especially since after this set I'll be slightly raising my prices, especially the color related stuff. I really underestimated how much more time and effort color wouldtake so my color stuff is seriously underpriced at the moment.
However, for those of you who need a cheaper option and like the subject matter of my art I will provide! I'll be introducing something I'm calling Rehme's Labrats. It'll only cost a little bit and you'll be put on the rosters to appear in one of my personal pics. I'll expand on the concept later once it's actually a thing, for now though it's just an idea for after this set of commissions.

Current projects and life
Posted 12 years agoBeen a while since i last posted, not that I post much anyway, but thought I'd give a few updates on things going on in my life.
Working on finishing up the previous batch of commissions still, only really have the one left, and it's mostly done anyway. I just have to deal with the tedious process of putting together the last few special effects and then putting the frames together for a full body animation. After that I'll be available for commissions again, though I'm taking full body animations off my commission list for the time being. Just too much alternating stress and tedium and not a lot of fun to be had.
Work continues to be a thing that exists, taking up time and energy. Though I know I'll be pretty available after mid-may for a while since we'll be moving and thus that job will no longer be a thing. So be prepared for commission slots to open up then :D Got to do something to bring in the cash while I'm applying for new jobs.
Now for the fun announcement: A friend and I are working on a game in rpg maker based on the little world that exists behind most of my art and mini-stories. We're already almost done building the first section enough to start letting people play the alpha, so expect that within the next week or two. The default game-art will eventually be replaced with my art so things will look more properly in line with that universe. And if things go well enough and people show a lot of interest I'll probably do something to offer people the ability to have their character(s)/fursona(s)/selves be in the game as npcs. We'll see where it goes, it looks very promising, but no promises yet ^.^

New job and what it means for commissions
Posted 12 years agoOk, so I got a new job just recently. This is good because it means money that's pretty reliable. However it is a really tiring job and they've dumped a ton of work on me right away. Which means that, for the time being at the very least, I won't have nearly as much time or energy to work on commissions. I'm still going to finish the current commissions I have, but I'm not taking new commissions until the current set is completely done. I will then be taking one more set of 4 commissions at the current commission prices. But after that there will only be two commission slots open at any time and my prices will be going up to make the expenditure of time and energy more worth it for me.

no stream today
Posted 12 years agojust spent an hour having my personal space invaded, going on a wild goose chase and being insulted every couple minutes, so I'm really not in the creative mood. Sorry folks.
Internet troubles
Posted 12 years agoAlright, so sadly my internet's giving me trouble and livestream's refusing to connect tonight, add in a light 4 hours of sleep last night and I'm not in the mood to be fighting with my internet/livestream to get a stream going/ Sincerest apologies folks. See you at the next stream. Hopefully better rested and with internet that works.
tonight's stream
Posted 12 years agohas been canceled. Sorry folks, too tired after work. I'll try and do a late night stream tomorrow ^.^;
stream schedule 6/16-6/21
Posted 12 years agoAll times are EST, east coast of the US
6/16-2pm-4pm or so
6/18-10pm-midnight
6/21-2pm-4pm or so

stream schedule 6/9-6/13
Posted 12 years agoGoing to be streaming tomorrow 2pm and for at least an hour hopefully. depends a bit on if visiting family happens.
6/11: 2pm until at least 3pm
6/12(technically 6/13): midnight until I get tired
6/13: 2pm until at least 3pm
Going to try and schedule at least one livestream every week and ahead of time so people can decide ahead of time if they want to watch ^.^
Edit: I am a moron and forgot to include a timezone in there somewhere. I'm on the east coast of the united states so EST, or GMT-4?(I'm horrible at GMT so hope that's right ^.^;)

A random observation on animating
Posted 12 years agoNot sure if I'm doing it wrong/working with bad tools for animating, or what. But fuck is animating stressful. I'm drawing panel by panel, which is a lot of drawing to do for even a simple animation, but I have no idea if it's any good until I'm done and it's making me unreasonably stressed every time I start drawing, because I have no idea if I'm doing things right or not. At least when I just draw something static I can see how everything effects everything else, even if I don't always know how to make the interactions look how I want. Animating feels like trying to draw blind. </flailpost>
This current one I'm working on will probably be the last one I do for a while. Back to the comfort of fields I have a semblance of understanding in.
This has been a status update for those of you interested in my flailings.

old art dump
Posted 12 years agoGoing to dump a bit of older art today, so little less quality than usual. Might finish a new set today as well, who knows ^.^ Got something big planned for later though, which may take a while.
art dry spell
Posted 12 years agoWelp, as most of my followers may have noticed, I haven't been drawing much. You all saw me at my most productive, now you get to seem me in an art slump. :P Tends to go in a cycle for me: Draw a ton, improve a bit, draw more while happy with the improvement, lose drive to draw, notice how far my art is from what I want it to be and lose my drive even more, draw a bit because I feel guilty i haven't drawn any in a while, draw a bit more because it's fun to draw, draw a ton aaaaaand repeat.
Currently on the notice the flaws in my art stage. I'll hopefully be drawing more in a few days.

Posted 12 years agoThanks to a very good friend I've got sai back again. So going to be able to draw quality stuff still.
Still considering commissions though. Going to be moving at the end of the summer and every bit will help. Might do a pay what you want system with a minimum of whatever paypal's pay fee setup +$1.

Posted 12 years agoSadly my Sai trial's run out on my laptop, so I'm going to have to buy it soon. Can't really afford it at the moment, but in a couple weeks I should be able to get it. Until then I'll have to use my old photoshop elements.
This also means I'm going to need to start taking commissions once I've bought Sai, to try and make up for the cost. Of course I was already planning on taking commissions soon to try and make a bit of extra money for moving at the end of the summer.
So as soon as I get paypal set up I'll be taking commissions. Which means requests will be relegated to "only if it really interests me". I'll of course finish the requests I already have.
Tentative Commission prices:
Sketch: $2
Finished line work: $8
BG: +$2
Flat colors: +$5
Additional characters: +$2
Comic sketch: $8/page
Comic line work: $12/page
Livestream sketch marathon: $12/hr
(the hour will just be basic sketching of whatever you request to get the basic form of the requests, and will be finished later on free of charge. )
Livestreaming a single piece: $8/hr
(an hour of me working on your piece to whatever level of completion it reaches in that hour. If you want to make a lot of modifications it probably won't get too far, but if it's simple I'll likely get to flat colors at the very least. If you want more work on it, you can always get another hour.)
These are tentative so let me know what you think/what prices you'd feel are fair.
