And a month later...
Posted 10 years agoI'm still here. It's not like I never left. I have plenty of folks I follow here on Twitter, so I get to see loads of their art, and get my daily hits of thick, furry, sweaty musclefurs. In speedos. Yum.
So, where have I been? If you been following my blog, you would have known I have been writing about The Bulls, muscled tablets, roses, and, of course, knitting. With some crochet in the mix.
My room's still a mess.
Still drinking tea.
Hm, what else. Oh, Go Blackhawks!

Posted 10 years agoAlright, alright, I'm back, for this moment only. I guess I do need to explain things, but I don't really need to, but yet I do, and yet I don't, and this circular thinking only gets in the way of my knitting. So there.
Yes, I'm mothballing the account. No big deal. I feel I need to take a break of things, and get more time out of the internet in general. I really miss those times where we didn't have the internet at home and I had to contend with only four-hour chunks of net time. I got a lot of things done then.
However, I am getting a bit more active in skype. If only people would start chatting with me. *eyeroll*
To answer your questions as to where I'm off to, I'm off to other places, doing other things. Mostly, I'm posting stories on my blog, and knitting things like birthday scarves and a new crochet blanket. Also, if you notice, I also posted part one of the third story of Bar Jocks. The others will be posted, to be sure, when I'm done with them. This story won't focus on Joe, but instead deal with assorted cast. Starting with a certain snow leopard.
Hugs to all, and lots of coffee also.

Until the layout improves to something far more pleasing to my eye, I'm officially mothballing this account. It is all just so blah now. Nothing interesting at all. Even the artwork is getting tacky. And the other sites are just as blah, also.

Posted 10 years agoSo I got a pair of bluetooth earphones, Kinivo BTH220, and they are terribly bad with my sis' old Samsung Galaxy S3 (I use it for camera and wifi). The music skips and skids and sounds terrible. Tried it with her new phone and of course it works. I am really getting pissed off. Any help?
Greymuzzle meme!

1. How many jobs have you had, and which was your favourite?
In order from oldest to newest, Mcds burger flipper, convenience store clerk, MSN tech rep, volunteer librarian, various telesales positions, teacher's assistant, news writer, and Adult Computer teacher. I think the favorite was the volunteer librarian because I wasn't paid. Odd, I know.
2. When did you first connect to other people via computers?
Must have been during high school. I was using hotmail with the bold blue/white screen. XD
3. We’re/are you on AOL? Compuserve? LJ? Dreamwidth? A Listserv? Other?
During the early days, I was on WEBS chat rooms. RP as a slew of fantasy creatures. Then I had Geocities, then LJ.
4. If you went to college, does your major match your career/current job?
Nope! XD
5. Have you had a mammogram? Colonoscopy?
Nope.
6. When did you get your first cell phone? What was it like? (Did it have a screen? Could you text? Was it a brick or flip?)
My first cell phone was a oooold sprint phone back in '06-07ish.
7. When did your family first acquire a color TV?
I'm sure it was before 1979.
8. When did your family acquire a second TV?
I would hazard the guess it was in the mid-80s...?
9. Did you ever own “designer jeans”?
During my highschool years, I wore a pair of dark blue Guess jeans. It was a lucky find.
10. Have you ever been to a disco?
I wish! During my early 20s, I was a barhopper, but a full-fledged disco bar never took off here.
11. How many places (towns, states, countries) have you lived in?
I did stay in Benson, NC for a few months, but I don't that counts
12. Have any of you contemporary friends died? (I.e., people more or less you age.)
None that I know of, but I've had plenty of friends move on.
13. Are you parents still living?
Only my mom.
14. Do you have any gray hairs?
I don't have grey hairs. I have glitter! *gay hair toss*
15. Did you or your family own a Betamax?
Not to my knowledge.
16. How did you spend New Year’s Eve 1999/2000?
I think I was with family, but can't be too sure.
17. What’s the oldest article of clothing you still wear?
An old gym shirt I got from the first gym I went to. It must be...15 years or so old.
18. Do you eat your vegetables?
We moose do eat veggies. :D
19. Are the privileges of adulthood worth the responsibilities?
I'm not sure there's a direct correlation. Privileges are automatically gained by virtue of having reached adulthood, but not all adults are "adults" - just because you've lived to a certain age doesn't mean you've become responsible.
What he said.
20. Do you feel like an adult?
I still feel like I'm 18 years old, sometimes. :D
21. Is youth wasted on the young?
No, that would be alcohol. :D

January gremlins, go away!
Posted 11 years agoGremlins: Mythical creatures known around various airmen that would mess up with various aircraft. The creatures afterwards spread to make their mischief to all things mechanical.
Why am I mentioning them right now? It seems that they're causing minor trouble in my life right now.
Before you ask if it's the computer again, it is somewhat, but not in the way you think. Thanks to blurfofnz, he and I found out how the computer could stop overheating. We found the power options set to levels that had the processor acting almost at 100% of its usage. I set it down to 75%, and the temps have been hovering in the lower to mid-90s since then.
However, I found that the backup - the 250Gb - has been the cause of the clicking I kept hearing. After running a S.M.A.R.T. diagnostic on the drive, I found that it's slowly dying. I need to get a backup pronto, maybe a smaller size of the drive I got for Christmas. At the moment, I have the drive disconnected from everything to prevent any other malfunctions.
Speaking of which, I no longer have a computer chair. About an hour or so at writing, I was in it, and shifted a bit only to find most of the right side to fall apart. It needs glue and a few nails to fix it, but dangit, I am fraying a bit here at the edges. I just wanna charge and gorge with my antlers. :|
But there's nothing going with my knitting. (Already, I sense the knitting deities planning to mess me up. XD)

Right now, the hat is edging to pass the four-foot mark, and I can't be happier.

I need to do the brim after all this, and to block it also, and I'll send it off. Hopefully, if I am uninterrupted, I can finish it tonight.

I hate this, I really do
Posted 11 years agoSo, the computer is at it again. Apparently, the original problem - overheating - is still happening. I am so damned pissed off at this. First it was the heatsink bracket, then the hard drive, now this. I just can't deal with this anymore.
I am tempted to take it to the dump, but the fact that I have three different people local and on facebook tell me it's overheating and needs a new heatsink/fan is giving me some kind of relief. I just hope that this is the final thing needing a fix. I just can't deal with this. *sigh*
In other news, I finally paid off my gym debt, so I can head back and get into lifting. [yay!]

Music backups and you
Posted 11 years agoSo, now that I got the 1TB drive, I wondered just how much music I actually had. I went to my Backup V.1 disks and pulled everything out of them, sorted them out, and measured. 85 gigs. A good month and so of non-stop tunes. Okay.
Today, my sis comes in and pulls out my Backup V.2 dual layer DVD disks. "Hey Joe, what's these?"
Ohhhh hello, there! *snatch*
Pull out everything from those guys and measured. 117 gigs. That's another 32 gigs more!
Now, this is almost all of the music I have. I still have what i call the Backup V.3, the stuff I had backed up before the HD went kaput. I have no idea how much that is. I would like to guess another 25 gigs or so. XD
Now, at this stage, you are probably asking yourself, "Just what this moose listen to?!?" Let me tell you that this collection spans almost 15 years worth of collecting and ranges from '40s to today*. I have classic rock, jazz, lounge, big band, indie, 80s, 70s, grunge, hip-hop, classic country, funk, alternative of all styles, disco, and things that defy description. Assorted discographies of odd bands. Video game theme remixes. Things I don't know how I got it and when. Weird things.
And I'm not done yet, folks! Still looking for more things, more gems that are lost in the shifting sands of time. Including Silver Jews, NRBQ, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, and many others.
*Speaking of which, I heartily suggest Capital Cities

Posted 11 years agoTalking to you from my newly-refurbished tower. Yes, anthropomorphic creatures of all kinds, I got a new hard drive for Christmas, and I am happier than a cat full of sixpences.
Apparently, someone read my Christmas Wish List and ordered me a 250 gig hard drive, or so I thought. Until I opened the package.
It was a one terabyte drive.
ONE TERABYTE! Fuckin' a! I can get aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall of my music collection in here and have room for extra! Not only that, but I also have three year extended warranty for it! YEAH!
So right now, the tower is doing fine, running smoothly and quietly on Win7, and I can't be any happier. Thank you, Mister Santa, very much. :D
Now, if I can get my tax refund on time, I can see about getting a legitimate web camera. XD
