Christmas Wish List
Posted 11 years ago(Taken from
dineegla)
-Step 1
Make a post in your journal containing your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple to really big. The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want. If you wish for real-life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where folks could get in touch with you.
If you need to get in touch with me for contact info or something, just note me!
-Step 2
Surf around other lists to see who has posted their list. If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream for free--do it. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special
-Step 3 The List
1) A picture of Moose in kinky positions, preferably tied up and used or in some kind of leather with a certain bison. Let me see it before posting, please. I want you to be happy and me not regretting this.
2) A Moop Messenger No. 1. My backpack is already going through the last phases of decay, so I'd love a replacement.
3) A relationship! I am a 35-y.o. gay man who has never been in a romantic relationship - hell, ANY relationship. I want someone to hang out with, go dancing, dining, send me flowers, charm me out of my socks. I'll return the favor with assorted love song mix tapes, home cooking, family drama, and lots of hugging and cuddling.
4) A Literary quote print by ObviousState
5)A new hard drive! I got my tower back, and the guy who fixed it said that everything was alright, but the hard drive is kaput. Thankfully I got everything backed up, but I'd to have the tower back instead of using the laptop all the time. Maybe this one?
Someone got this for me already! Thanks!
6) Gift certificates to Amazon.com or BarnesandNoble.com so I can buy more books.
7) Gift certificates to TheLoopyEwe.com so I can buy more yarn!
8) A skein of bison-down yarn. I know it's expensive, but this journal is called a wish list for a reason. ^_^
9) Homemade cookies! I love homemade cookies. I remember when
syr sent a dozen Ginger cookies my way, with chunks of candied ginger. Oh, and
HollieHyena's batch two years back. That was gooood!
10) Help with my business. As some of you folks know, I want to open a yarn shop in the area - the first of its kind in the RGV really. What I need is capital, but I don't think anyone would be willing to loan me money due to my credit score. What I *really* need is advice, both financial and business. I got a DBA form done, but I don't know what to do next.

Rantings and ravings (Christmas Cards!)
Posted 11 years agoFirst off, Bar Jocks is still going on. Tax prep and job hunting is distracting me. I also have a case of writer's block, so it may be a while until you get to see the last part of ch.2
I am publishing the Nano story I did last year on my blog. The beginning is located here:
http://tinyurl.com/mdmtwnd
...and it's a bit overwhelming to take in a bit later, but stay with me. :3
Also, who ever wants to have $80 skeins of yarn that's made from bison? If I wanted bison fleece, I'd stalk Bisonario! XD
One last thing: I am getting into the holiday spirit. It might be the early cold. It might be the woolies I have. It might be the fact that I am getting everything in one go. Who knows.
WHICH REMINDS ME!
Anyone who wants to be on my Christmas Card List please Note me! I have twenty of you guys (including relatives) and I'd love more. :3

Knitting Moose Storytime!
Posted 11 years agoOnce upon a time, there was a knitter in the lower tip of Texas. A male knitter who lived in a rather cluttered and somewhat dusty room, surrounded by books and balls of yarn. This was because he was a somewhat lazy man and thus did not mind the occasional dust kitten. But he treated knitting as a drug, and complained at length to whoever was silly enough to intrude upon his knitting time. But we digress.
One day, the knitting slob took an idea from his Idea Notebook and created a wonderful shawl.
https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3896.....3b54d86c_z.jpg
It caused fascination among the family and friends, and he was inspired to turn around and make it into a notable pattern. However, when he was looking through said pattern, he learned of many errors he put down. For example, the shawl had fussy lace insertions at the beginning and end that turned downright ugly when blocked, so he took them out. Also, the motif was small, and needing enlarging, which he did.
When he saw the pattern, and found it good, he found he didn't have any test knitters, so he rolled up his sleeves, and cast on.
https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5559.....2a7a9a8f_z.jpg
As he knitted, he found things still wrong, and as the books and balls of yarn gently gathered dust kittens, he fixed the errors and removed the insertions and found it all good. Much bigger than originally anticipated, but very good.
https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3943.....782056cd_z.jpg
Buy pattern file
Now, this knitter now has the time to finally dust the room and shoo all of the kittens out. If he wasn't distracted by doodling more in the Notebook, that is. And so, he lived happily ever after.
The end.
Actually, this is a signal boost for the pattern. Yes, I am selling it, so if you want to buy it, go ahead and get it.

Oh wow, we're back.
Posted 11 years agoIt's running a touch sluggishly, but that's to be expected with the influx of people.
So, it was my birthday Wednesday. I'm 35. Go me.
I got only one gift: A $20 gift card to Knitpicks. Thanks, once again, sir!
It was pretty low-key. I was away from everything; I was mostly at Starbucks and the local mall. Then we went to Denny's and had their traditional free Grand Slam.
Then, yesterday, during my knitting class, the ladies got me a cheesecake slice from the library deli and sang Happy Birthday. :D
I still want a plane that loops the loop, though...

Posted 11 years agoEeeek!
Posted 11 years agoPeople are already giving me gift arts and birthday greetings. For my birthday.
Does anyone understand that the birthday is next week?! *headdesk*
However, if you want to give me early presents, gift cards at Knitpicks, TheLoopyEwe, and Amazon will be most welcome.

Posted 11 years agoThis is me going on vacation.
Now, before you folks ask what is going on, let me say that nothing is going on. I'm doing H&R Block tax training right now, I'm designing a shawl, I'm planning for this year's Nanowrimo as well as trying to put Bar Jocks back on the To Do List. Life is pretty good.
So, no, I am not hanging my antlers up. I am not closing down anything (maybe the deviant art account). It's just that I am so danged busy! I have all that mentioned, but also I have the weekly knitting classes, the re-org of the Friends of the Library, the Halloween decor, and a sum of other things that need my attention for the road. Oh, and I'm also looking into canvas needlepoint (hint: it's bargello).
So yes, I'm still here, and I will be here probably until the site closes, but for now, I'm leaving this journal here until my birthday comes along. Or earlier. Like tomorrow. >.>
But if you want to get your daily dose of moose, join me on twitter: http://twitter.com/JoeMoose517

I have no cell phone.
Posted 11 years agoIt has been going on and off for a few days before going ker-plunk on me this morning. I need to find a replacement for my job hunt. Mom's thinking of going to Sears/Wal-Mart for a pre-paid phone for such, but dunno. Updates as they come in.

My tower's officially kaput
Posted 11 years agoKaput. Gone. Deleted. Offline. Gone from this realitorical sphere. Etc.
I hope it is only a hard drive error. I honestly hope so. It goes through the motions, the bios seem alright, so I'm hoping (praying) that it's just a hard drive error.
Well, not really, seeing I do not know that I can retrieve all of my information off of the drive. Years worth of music collections, of the stories, of the miscellany of stuff that I found useful. THAT is what is bothering the hell out of me. *sigh* I backed things up, but with hard drives, one can never know, right?
Anyway, I'm having a friend of a friend come over tomorrow and look things over. I hope he will revive my wonderful machine. I am just so...damned bothered by this.
I, at least, have the laptop and the kindle, but they are not the major techs here. :|
Also, the new Doctor. I like him, but let's wait until the other episodes, eh?

Bar Jocks, Computer Troubles, and You
Posted 11 years agoNot really you, but me as well. Mostly me. Alright, ALL me.
At the moment, I'm distracted with other things to do anything with 'Jocks. Like the library backpack raffle, the computer failing, and stuff of that nature. Let us do a running commentary.
* Right now, the tower is failing miserably. I fixed the overheating issue: I found I added way too much thermic paste and I had to clean the area out with alcohol. That included the heatsink, the processor, and the area around it. Meaning I had to actually take out the processor, wipe clean the areas where the silver got itself around the base (not really much thank the gods) and put everything back while adding a small dollop of paste. It's working well; the temps are in the warm 90s F across the board where it was 120 or so.
But the damage from the overheating was? is? too much for the rest of the computer; the hard drives are failing and needing replacement quickly. I found a NewEgg HD for about $60 - a terabyte storage! - and I'm going to be saving up what money I can get to buy it. Because of the new job.
* Last week, I got a call from the job placement center at the school I went to earlier this year. They directed me to a local burger joint looking for a manager, so I went over and had the interview and whatnot, but they said they needed someone with restaurant experience, so that was that. Or so I thought.
I got a call from the owner today, and he had a deal for me: That I would be paid for record keeping and minor accounting. I would be on their call, but I would be paid an hourly rate of min. wage when I was working for them. Seeing that this was the only offer I got in the almost-eight weeks of unemployment, I accepted. I start on Thursday, I hope.
* I mentioned this before, but I am president of the local Friends of the Library group, and about this time of year, we have a small backpack raffle for the kids. About 50-70 backpacks are given away, and we also have the local fire and police department help with donating school supplies as well as coming over to do a presentation for the kids.
This year, it has been one major goof after another. I couldn't contact either dept. until two weeks ago, and the fire dpt isn't helping with the donation. At least I got them down for the presentation. whew. The police on the other hand were quick to discuss about things, and they are planning on doing both, so yay.
* As for the story, it's sketchy right now. I'm probably going to target some other people instead of Moose, but not to fear, he'll be there along with everyone else. And, yes, there will be skimpy-dressed muscle guys, so don't you worry.
I do have a question: If I were to find an illustrator, would you want to buy an illustrated comic/'book' of Story One?

Or...I might continue off the riff of this one - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11437058/ - or this one - http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7701481/ - or something completely new.
I have to pass the time somehow. No one wants to hire me, despite my outpouring of resumes and applications. *sigh* My professors are surprised that I haven't been interviewed yet. Nyaaaan.... If I was a kitty, my tail would be thrashing around something fiercely.

THINGS HAPPEN FOR REASON, PEOPLE! You can flail against Fate with all your might, but when Destiny records, you might as well be kicking against a brick wall.
I keep reading entries here, twitter, and tumblr of how [bad] things are, and I am sure they are meant to be a steam whistle, in a fashion, but to read it over and over again, the same things happening to different people, just wants me to explode and write blog journals about the same behavior that I am experiencing.
Forgive me. I am not in the right state of mind, so things might come out entirely out of context. *shrug*

Okay, let's play catch-up. Running commentary on!
Only two weeks of school left! I am very happy at this. I never thought this sort of thing would be happening. The school is already giving me job offers for various places around the area -- and a few around the state. If I keep looking, I might find a few out of state. Like, say, Chicago area.* However, school-wide graduation's not until November, so in the meanwhile, I'll still be 'in school' until then. That means, I have to pay the loan that I got there. C'est la vie, I say.
I only have one class in the late morning, so that means I can get into an early morning workout. However, this is not happening. I get on the 6.30 a.m. bus, get to the stop at 7 or so a.m., then cross the street to Starbucks and spend the morning drinking coffee. This I do not want. Instead, I will try to get back to walking to the gym (which is only three or so blocks away). I need to, though. I gained ten pounds since the New Years. I blame eating at the next-door fast food places.** :|
I'm still knitting! I finished knitting a blanket - https://www.flickr.com/photos/16528.....0/14182986097/ - that was my spring project. It's a small lil' lap blanket/throw, and I love it to death. However, when I showed mom, she was all, "Let's send it off to your aunt in Washington!" No. It's my blanket, dangit!
So, what have you guys been up to?
* Yeah, I'm really wanting to move up there, if only to annoy a certain moose.
**Wataburgers. Such good. Very noms. Wow
Don't blame it on yourself
'Cause if you lay it on a brother when he's sleeping
You'll wake up in the morning and he'll be gone

I am tired of this. The entirety of this.

Movie hijinxs
Posted 11 years agoI do not watch movies.
Anyone who knows me will say that I do not watch them.
I will usually say that I would rather read books and listen to music than to watch a movie.
So, for me to say that I sat down and watched a movie is high praise from me because the movie had so much interest that I actually watched it. Movies of that sort include The Fifth Element, Stardust, and Clue.
And The Triplets of Belleville.
I mean, look at the trailer. Look at it!
I found it through Tumblr and got so intrigued by it that I *ahem* found it and watched it.
Oh ye gods. Pure eye candy. The animation, the pacing, the music. Fantastic and amazing. Surreal to boot.
I give this movie the Moose Stamp of Approval. Go and watch it. Or face my moosie wrath!
