Totally Burned Out
Posted 12 years agoClosed my dA gallery temporarily today. After putting one more thing up because I owe someone something, I'm probably taking a break from here for awhile too. RL hasn't been going too well in some respects lately, and I need to focus on that and getting another dead-end job. Never felt like a competent writer anyway, since all I can do just amounts to fanfic. *sigh*

Two points added:
- You'll be paying for my portrayal of your characters, setting and plot. Characters that I come up with for the sake of your story may be recycled/reused elsewhere, and I maintain copyright to them unless you've had heavy input in the creation of said character.
- No ghostwriting. If I'm writing for you, my name stays on the wording I put up. You're not paying to take the words I wrote and pass them off as yours. Thanks for understanding.

Some thoughts
Posted 12 years agoI spend most of my time wishing I could be a proper author--someone who can write their own ideas and be published. It's been my dream for 15 years. I recently attended a panel at Otakon that confirmed my suspicions that I can't continue doing any fanfic or writing for others if I want to move ahead in that goal. However, I have no good ideas of my own and spend most of my time feeling tired, miserable, and like a hack. I can't keep going like this, and it keeps getting worse and worse. I don't know what to do or how to begin working on my own ideas and digging myself out of the hole I'm in. Nothing makes me happy with my writing anymore. I have no other talents and wish I'd never taken up writing.

I really need some money to get through my bills and the holidays on top of unemployment, so after I get one more commission done, I'm looking to take some more. My advertising haunts will be on places like Fur Buy and the forums here, and when I'm open, I'll link to the appropriate bidding/advertising places.
In the meantime, if you're interested in a commission yourself or would like to spread the word, please do. If you make a journal or post somewhere, please link me here so I can see.

Today I lost my kitty of 10 years from cancer. Between his operation and office costs, it's going to run me about $600. Therefore, I'm taking quickie writing commissions of almost any stripe, $10 per 1,000 words. Please keep in mind that I have a daytime job, so I can't work on them every day, but I'll do my best to get them to you fast. Word limit is 5,000 words, and I'm open for two of them.
Slots:
1. Unfilled.
2. Unfilled.
Terms:
1. Before you commission me:
-Ask any questions you may have. If you're doubtful I'll portray something you want, please ask.
- Please have a general idea of what you want ready: "I want my husky Riley to meet an alien, and he looks like [insert detailed description/photo reference here]. Then he finds out that he needs to go to another planet with the alien." You get the idea. The more detailed, the faster and better I can work. If you don't provide details, I'll have to fill in blanks.
- Writing samples can be found at: http://bloodrose83.deviantart.com/
- Yes, I do adult work, and yes, lesbian/gay/transsexual/transgender characters are welcome. I also do straight pairings.

- Anything involving heavy research (if you have any doubts, ask!)
- Bestiality.
- Intersexed/Herm characters (no hate, I just feel I can't portray them realistically).
- Sexual situations between adults and underaged characters; anything adult featuring underaged characters.
- Anything featuring characters that don't belong to you. Nothing belonging to a major company, and if the character belongs to your friend's brother's uncle's former roommate, I'm going to need to check with them and confirm that it's okay.
Payment:
- Via Paypal or personal check, but all checks must clear before I begin your work.

How would anyone like it if I took my anthro related commissions/stories, edited and revised them, then added some extra stories and compiled them into a booklet or something? Reading online is cool, but if you're like me, your eyes start to hurt after awhile. Bonus: if you purchase a commission from me and I have enough interest in this, you get a free copy. I just need to find the best way to go about this.
So, thoughts?

Posted 13 years agoI finally succeeded in capturing one of the cats I was talking about over the summer. He's been fixed/vaccinated for now, but the problem is, I have no room for him. That means sometime in the next day or so, he needs to go back where we found him, into the cold. We're looking for people to take him, but no one's gotten back to us with a definite so far, so I'm not best pleased.

I'm still working on my last commission (in the home stretch now, I think!), but am foregoing doing the 50,000 words in a month thing this year. Need of money from my job cutting my hours more and the story premise not coming together in my head before I start has pushed things back.
I've been mired in research, birthday stuff, worrying about people, and reading to relax, but this space will be updated as soon as I'm open. I'm thinking of taking 4,000-8,000 word commissions at $15 per 1,000 words when I do open. Feedback on whether or not that's a good idea or who may be interested is welcomed and encouraged.

XD Now I'm wondering if anyone would know of a good, semi-cheap artist who would be willing to make banners so I can give this 'advertising for commissions' thing a proper go. My budget is $20 USD. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be very appreciative!

Posted 14 years agoYep, I'm in the path of the freaking thing. >> I hope that everyone else who is stays safe. I have my candles, canned food, and water, so I'm pretty good to go. To the people who went to the grocery store last night to buy frozen food, what were you thinking? If you lose power, you're screwed. I may be off for awhile if the power gets knocked out (a few channels are predicting it might be several hours to a day, depending on your power company). Hopefully, that won't happen, but if it does, I'll be back in touch and updating this ASAP.
