Many of our attendees are familiar with our colorful posters that we use as hall decor each year. Some of these posters have been placed in our charity auction and gone for more than $100 a piece. This year, YOUR CHARACTER can be included in the poster art! That's right, the first 12 individuals who register as a Supersponsor or higher for Megaplex 2014, can have their character included into the design of one of this year's posters. Depending on design, there can be up to 3 characters per poster. And since we place the full size posters in the charity auction, we will provide you with a smaller, personal copy so that you are guaranteed to have one! Also in our con store, we are selling the Bowling Shirts that we introduced at Megaplex 2013. You can order them online for pickup at the convention when you retrieve your badge.
If you haven't heard, our artist guests of honor this year are the ever-amazing Mary Mouse and TaniDaReal. They're excited to be a part of this year's events. We're already seeing some lovely artwork created by them exclusively for Megaplex!
Calling all artists and writers - Have a creative idea that you think is sweet enough for the Candy Factory? We'd love to feature your work in our Con Book! Details and submission info can be found here.
We have open staff positions in Con Security. If you're interested in joining our team, fill out a staff application.
We'll also be looking for volunteers for various roles, such as our dance competition. If you're interested in signing up to help out, please fill out this form for our volunteer coordinator. For every hour contributed, volunteers are offered $5 off registration for the following year, up to the full price of a 3 day attending membership.
Programming is now taking submissions for panels and events. Much of the programming at Megaplex happens because you, our attendees, are willing to take the time to host a panel, meet-and-greet, or workshop in a subject area that interests you. If you would like to request to host an event this year, please fill out the request form.
DJ submissions are now being accepted. If you would like to be considered as a DJ for one of our dances, please fill out the event request form.
Remember, event organizers and hosts are offered the same benefits as volunteers: $5 off next year's registration for each hour of your time, up to the full price of a 3 day attending membership, for every hour you host a panel, meet-and-greet or workshop.

We're excited to share that the negotiated room rate has been reduced to just $99/night! And parking is once again FREE for guests, up to two cars per hotel room. Visit our hotel page for booking information.

Some new things you can do with registration this year:

Staff members typically dedicate at least 8 hours of their time, each day of the convention. Certain roles require availability before or after the convention as well. General | Posted 12 years agoMegaplex would like to formally announce that we have secured our hotel dates and rates for Megaplex XIII: The Candy Factory!
We will be returning to the Marriott Orlando Airport! The convention dates are: July 25-July 27, 2014. And to make the Candy Factory an even sweeter place to be, we have negotiated a rate DECREASE for 2014! That's right, the same wonderful hotel will cost you LESS next year. We are
pleased to announce that hotel rooms will be available for $99 a night! Yes, you read that correctly...we have worked with the hotel to bring the convention's hotel rate under $100 a night! And parking will still be complimentary for all Megaplex attendees staying at the hotel!
The Marriott web site will be updated soon with our registration codes and room block...so look for announcements that you can start reserving hotel rooms soon!

General | Posted 12 years agoMegaplex XII is now behind us. Once again, thank all of you for spending time with us for a rockin' weekend and helping make Megaplex XII the amazing event it was.
We broke in the new hotel quite nicely: This year our attendance skyrocketed to 821, and you helped us raise $4,038 for our charity, C.A.R.E. The fursuit parade snaked throughout the hotel 185 fursuiters long (87 on Sunday night).
We owe a very special thanks to our Guests of Honor, Tirrel and Fox Amoore for flying all the way from the UK to join our convention. We were thrilled to have such entertaining, talented and exciting guests among us. Once again, thank you both for spending the weekend with us.
We do value the opinions of our attendees. So we'd like to know what you think. What did you like? What can we do better? What would you
like to see? Please email us your feedback and let us know. This is your convention, and we'd like to know your opinion.

Help support C.A.R.E.! Donations needed for Charity Auction
General | Posted 12 years agoOnce again this year, Megaplex is pleased and honoured to have The C.A.R.E. Foundation as our charity. As in past years, our friends at C.A.R.E. are scheduled for a special presentation Sunday afternoon, allowing our membership to meet some of the many animals they have rescued. After the presentation, we will be holding our annual Charity Auction ... and that's where you come in! We're looking for artwork, memorabilia, collectables, and other merchandise that can be auctioned off to raise money for C.A.R.E. One hundred percent (100%) of all sales go to the charity. Help us make a difference by donating what you can!
A couple of rules :
1. All merchandise needs to be in saleable condition - clean, in good shape, all parts included, etc.
2. As the charity auction is an all-member event, all merchandise should be 'safe-for-work'. Basically, if you would need to drop a warning on it when posting to an art site, we'd have to decline it. (If you want to run something by us to see if it's okay, send CarlFox an e-mail.)
So, how to donate? Glad you asked...
1. We recommend bringing your donation with you to the convention, at which time you can drop it off at Registration or Con Ops. We'll have those locations identified on-site. Please try to get your donation to us on Friday, so we have time to determine what items will be auctioned in what order.
2. If you would like us to display what you're donating ahead of time (especially as pertains to artwork), please contact CarlFox. We'll be happy to post photos and artwork on our website and on FA.
3. If you cannot attend Megaplex this year, but would still like to donate merchandise, send CarlFox an e-mail to verify what address to send it to. Note, any mail-in donations must be received one week before the convention for logistical reasons.
Of course, if you cannot join us this year, but still would like to help, contact C.A.R.E. directly. They'll really appreciate it! If you have any Charity Auction questions not answered here, please contact CarlFox. Thank you for your help!

Staff and Volunteer Openings Available for the Game Center
General | Posted 13 years agoFor all gamers who not only want to attend Megaplex, but also are interested in contributing to it, we have some openings available for the Megaplex Game Center. We welcome gamers across all types (console games, board games, card games, and the like) amongst all generations (1970s games all the way up to the current day). After logging in to the Megaplex site, you can fill out a staff application here.
And it isn't just extra hands that would be of great help: If you wish to contribute or loan equipment (such as displays, systems, controllers, game media, board and card games) please contact the staff to arrange for providing equipment. We know gaming is also a major part of a convention for many people that attend, so we would love your help to improve this portion of the convention considerably.
