I mean really, so stuff got changed, whoopdedo. It is a bit silly if you ask me, the huge commotion about it. Dragoneer only did it for financial reasons, though apparently AlertPay won't be taking them back. Oh well. It's a sound choice anyway.
But I don't consider it a reason to celebrate. I mean, how many folks were truly, honest-to-goodness offended or disgusted by the fact cub porn existed on FA? I mean seriously, was it ever that big a deal? We've got scat and watersports and gorn and vore and all sort of equally disgusting kinks...but apparently the fandom rejoices at the removal of cub? Eh, whatever, no skin off my back since nothing of mine falls into that category.
I just think the whole thing is a bit overblown. This was done solely for financial reasons and would not have occured otherwise.
Also, before this ever comes up? No, cub porn does not in any way, shape, or form, encourage or condone actual child porn or child exploitation.

National Novel Writing Month: Complete

National Novel Writing Month Word Count: 50043
I know there are a few folks who wanted to see and read my story. Sadly, you'll have to wait until the actual final date for NaNo. I hit the mark, but I don't intend to necessarily stop writing, just that I can take a much more leisurely pace with said writing and get it done on my own time. So it'll likely be close to midnight when the final piece will be submitted, and I'll give you my final word count. Done a week ahead of time though, MUCH better than last year.

General | Posted 15 years agoSo, I finished reading these two books of mine, and it gave me a lot to think about, honestly. I mean honestly, I've read a lot of books in my time, but these really moved me, in more ways than I can explain.
For reference (and some shameless promotion), the two books are 'The Sparrow' and 'Children of God', both written by Mary Doria Russell. 'Children of God' is the sequel to 'The Sparrow', and in my opinion, 'The Sparrow' is the better of the two, but they're both stellar books.
Also, these books have completely solidified my stance for this upcoming NaNoWriMo. For those of you not familiar with the acronym, it stands for National Novel Writing Month. I posted my last year's winning entry in my gallery, and I intend to outdo myself again this year. Originally, I was stuck between doing science-fiction again, and a new, fantasy idea. For a while now, I was going to try something different, and do the fantasy idea.
But...after reading those two books, I've come to a final decision. I'm going to write a science-fiction story. Not only that, it's going to be a First Contact novel. And I'm going to completely outdo myself this time. Last year, I did 50,231 words. This year, I'll go for 51k.

General | Posted 15 years agoSo...this is in regards to Darius Aubtraum, the Darkrai ex-principal. I've had a few people who have talked about him, or used him in a story or what not, and I think that people have the completely wrong idea about him and the kind of person he is.
He's not EVIL. In a world like PCA, no one who was outright, explicitly EVIL would've ever gotten the job of principal. He was never intended to be EVIL or meant to be EVIL. He was the jerkass principal who ruled with a strict and iron fist. A traditional authoritarian. With regards to the students, that was "evil" enough for the setting. He was supposed to be unlikeable to the kids, not a wicked monster who got his rocks off making people suffer.
He has issues, yes. He's jaded, cynical, sarcastic, a smartass, all sorts of dislikeable social qualities. He and Felix disagreed about just about everything, from politics, to school policies, to women. He's mixed himself in shady, underworld (read: crime) affairs and worked with and for seedy individuals. He thinks about his own self-interests at times, and often does what he thinks is best even if it's not the most comfortable decision for those involved.
But he was not, was never supposed to be, or ever meant to be, explicitly evil in the classic "Good vs. Evil" stance. No matter what you hear from anyone else, or who else says anything, you have Word of God claiming once and for all who he was and what he was.
That is all.

Then it gets shut down, Arcturus gets into a huff, and the internet backdraft (on both sides of the war) exploded into glorious, glorious flames.

I mean, really. I've had my site reported six times for illegal content. And it keeeps on chugging! ISPs require actual proof of crimes to be shut down, and law enforcement need lots of hard evidence. Calling something illegal because it's questionable but legal does not get you far. (For those curious, I host vaporware and shareware from the 70's and 80's whose copyrights have lapsed or the companies holding the copyright went defunct without the rights being renewed or purchased by a new company. It's mostly Atari being butthurt, but the world already knows they failed to follow copyright procedure on their games from that era, thus causing the Great Videogame Depression.)
On the other hand, I have had sites shut down for actually having illegal content. And DMCA/Copyright issues are very, VERY rarely successful at doing so, unless it's handled by a professional attorney.
So, I smell either a Big Fat Lie, or a felony. Or possibly a really, really paranoid ISP. I eagerly await proof of one of these possibilities.

Ash got trolled. HARD.
Takuto whips out Darkrai, THE Darkrai, and promptly OHKOs half of Ash's team with it. BTW, Darkrai isn't "assisting" Takuto. IT CAME OUT OF A GODDAMN POKEBALL. Once Ash finally drops Darkrai with what HAS to be a critical-hitting Leaf Blade from Sceptile, Takuto whips out his second Pokemon!
....Latios.
THE SAME ONE WHO DIED BACK IN HEROES. So unless there's more than one Latios Takuto is some kind of Legendary catching POKEMON JESUS.
This Latios then proceeds to own the remainder of Ash's team and is beaten through a Double KO by Ash's Pikachu, but since Pikachu was his ONLY remaining Pokemon, he loses.
It was simply. Fucking. Stupid. An entire year, an entire season, and Ash just gets completely owned by a guy who got barely a few cameos, NO character introduction or development. Oh yeah, this same guy? Sweeps the entire tournment with JUST DARKRAI. ASH WAS THE ONLY PERSON TO DEFEAT HIS DARKRAI, AND ASH STILL LOST. I hope to God the Elite Four and Cynthia promptly rape his ass.
I'm sorry, maybe I shouldn't be so mad, but that shit was simply ridiculous. You usually NEVER catch Legendaries, at all! Unless you're someone SUPER IMPORTANT. The jokes ran rampant that obviously one of his Pokemon he didn't show was either Mewtwo or Arceus. I would've not been surprised.
Why couldn't it have been a close battle, or something where Ash got to show some of his tougher 'mon. Problem was he blew his entire "I'm-a-badass" load on Paul three episodes ago, so he had nothing left to use on this fucker. Seriously though, it feels like the entire season was a waste of tme.

Resident Evil: Afterlife
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, recently saw some of the trailers, and lemme tell you, I am psyched to see this movie. But really, I've seen a few journal and the YT trailer vids are full of people just whining and bitching about how "this isn't Resident Evil why would Capcom allow this?!" I have just one thing to say:
Deal with it.
Honestly, the games were never that spectacular. They were only Survival Horror up until RE:4, and even then, RE:3 had Mercenaries, which was all about killing everything that moved. Code Veronica had it's Gun Attack mode too. The movies are being done in the vein of 4 and 5, which have very obviously moved out of the "Survival Horror" genre of games. Long gone are the days when Lickers crawled past windows and Dogs burst through windows.
Now it's about the visual horror, more than the psychological horror. The games clearly fall under "Action/Horror" now, and the movies are an emulation of that. But don't complain about how the movies are a travesty or an abomination to the franchise, when the franchise itself was moving in that direction LONG before the movies.
That said, I'm totally gunna see it :3

I saw this episode last night, and it's just as awesome in the English Dub as it in the English Sub. It's the song really, easily the best part of the entire episode. Pretty much it's moments like these that made me watch Bleach in the first place.

Racial Double Standard
General | Posted 15 years agoSo, I heard that Dr. Laura will be quitting her radio show at the end of year after she hot into some hot water for using the N-word on her radio show. It was in response to the fact that a black woman felt offended that her white husband and his friends used the word. Dr. Laura responded by commenting on how you could turn on HBO and see black people using the word when talking to each other, and she proceeded to say the word 'nigger' repeatedly.
She's quitting radio because she said she's sick and tired of people who try to shut others down over whenever they hear anything they don't like.
But she did bring up an interesting point: Why is it black people are free to use the word on each other at will, often repeatedly, and it's practically a sign of affection. But if anyone else of a lighter skin-tone uses it, it's racism of the highest order?
And before anyone brings this up, no, I do not consider 'nigga' and 'nigger' to be two different words. The former is simply a sloppy way of pronouncing/speaking the latter. That's really all there is to it.

Persona 3 vs. Persona 4
General | Posted 15 years agoI was once discussing Persona games with a few friends of mine, and we actually came upon an interesting disagreement. Despite the fact that we both agree that Persona 4 plays better as a game, I feel the story of Persona 3 is better and much more personal (no pun intended!) experience, especially in Persona 3 Portable where you can get Social Links with the party (sadly, only if you play the Female Protagonist, but still). He argued that Persona was a lighter and more enjoyable story because of fact the impact of the story isn't quite as heavy, especially given what the MC in 3 has to do compared to in 4.
We also had a serious disagreement over Persona 3: FES and the playable epilogue, 'The Answer'. I lamented the lack of 'The Answer' in P3P, and he said, and I quote: "Wow, such a shame, it loses the creepy robot girl's adventure." I almost took a personal offense to that, but had to stop myself from snapping at him. Why? Well, for me 'The Answer' was the most satisfying narrative conclusion to the Persona 3, and one of the view instances where a videogame made me shed tears over SEVERAL moments in the game. Yes, 'The Answer' is essentially a massive grind and a hair-puller (the game forces you to play in Hard Mode and removes the Persona Compendium, forcing you to make Personas from scratch everytime you want one), but from a story standpoint, it was immensely touching.
I'm curious, gameplay mechanics aside, which game did you guys prefer? I'm wondering what you think.
Also, as an added bonus, have some Female MC/Shinjiro goodness. And yes, you CAN save him in P3P and have him there for you at the end (but only on a second playthrough, the having him there for you at the end of the game.)

Is this pre or post-National Dex? Usually only around 40. I actually DONT usually just go running around catching random 'mon for the heck of it, I catch what I intend to use.

Hell yeah! It's a decent RPG with good strategies, and the concept is probably one of the most well-done of it's genre (the whole catching monsters thing)

Not anymore. Our mom bought us some of the cards to play, but that was back when they only had basic sets, the game was fairly boring since it was just smashing face back then, not a lot of strategy.

Is this pre or post-National Dex? Usually only around 40. I actually DONT usually just go running around catching random 'mon for the heck of it, I catch what I intend to use.

Hell yeah! It's a decent RPG with good strategies, and the concept is probably one of the most well-done of it's genre (the whole catching monsters thing)

Not anymore. Our mom bought us some of the cards to play, but that was back when they only had basic sets, the game was fairly boring since it was just smashing face back then, not a lot of strategy.

The general jist of the message for those folks who are confused or missed my enlongated rant about furry ineptitude?
Proper communication and basic social respect. I don't care if you're a natural asshat, or if you've got this weird idea that people have to know you before you treat them like human beings, but everyone needs to learn (or re-learn) proper communication skills. The following are some GREAT examples:
1) Be direct. That doesn't mean be blunt or rude, but if you need to talk to someone, or if someone is doing something that makes you uncomfortable, tell them right now. Do something to get their attention, like tapping them on the shoulder, and then tell them! "Excuse me, but can I talk to you about <insert subject here>?" or "Pardon me, but there's a problem I need to talk to you about." or even "Please stop doing that." If you do that, no one can say you didn't try, and if it keeps up, speak to someone in charge! Don't be all passive aggressive!
2) Man-handling and violation of personal space are a big, fucking no-no. I don't care how pissed off you are, or if the person in question is being disgusting, you do not just start rough-housing them, ESPECIALLY if you're just doing it to get their attention. The only reason you should start yanking folks around are if it's an emergency (aka they're drunk and gunna puke, or if there's a fire and you're trying to save their lives) Now, if the two of you are man-handling each other for sexual reasons that's a whole 'nother story. But you get the idea.
3) Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But that doesn't mean it's going to change anything, nor are you entitled to whine and complain. At social functions, it's not expected that you're going to be best of friends with everyone. But do NOT make a fuss if someone you particularly dislike shows up. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they don't belong at the social function, no matter how big your ego is.

General | Posted 15 years agoSo, F-List is basically Rabbit Hole with the additions of groups and the use of pictures, fairly nifty. So I was browsing it, looking it over, and noticed something odd.
There was someone with a fairly extensive and detailed F-List, who had a link over to their FA page (names withheld to protect the innocent). So I went to their FA page. Right on the top part, in the description for themselves, are the words:
"I don't RP, don't bother asking."
...So why, good sir, do you have a F-list? Whose sole reason to be is so people of a similar level of kinkiness can find each other, where groups are formed so people of like interests can role-play?
What's the point in creating an F-list for your character/fursona...if you don't RP?

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon A-OK Generator Controversy

In Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, when a Team gets KO'ed, they can send out an 'SOS Mail' via Wifi, local wireless, or a password, which lets another team save them. In return, said rescuing team sends back a 'A-OK Mail', which lets the rescued Team revive themselves.
Now, because of the game's programming, and with some smart folks, it became possible to create a program which let you generate mail. First is the Wondermail Generator, which lets you create missions with custom parameters, like who you're rescuing, where at, and what reward.
The second was the A-OK Generator. This hotly debated programmed allowed a defeated team to enter their SOS Mail password, and the program would generate an A-OK Mail password which would let you revive yourself without needing someone to save you.
The first generator was accepted due to the rarity of some items and the ability to generate custom missions of any difficulty. The second? Was treated as an abomination to be destroyed. And with good reason of course. The A-OK Generator essentially eliminated the need for the human element. Supposedly, the A-OK Generator for PMD1 destroyed the community of the game since teams were no longer needed to rescue anyone.
PMD2 had a A-OK Generator, but it was removed and there are no plans to restore it. However, I have a hard time believing that it doesn't have it's uses. After all, not everyone has the luxury of a wi-fi connection with which to post your SOS, and what if you needed a timely rescue? Good luck if you post on a forum board that you need saving, it could take days before anyone sees it. Unfortunately, the outcry against an A-OK Generator has basically caused it to be anethema. Even mentioning is considered bad.
...So what about me when I get offed by an enemy's lucky crit and I waited all day for a rescue and never got one? No, I'm not asking for a rescue from any of you...yet. (Though anyone willing, I would appreciate it immensely) But still, the point stands. If I can't get a rescue in a reasonable period of time, and my good friends don't have the game or aren't available to save me, is using the Generator still a sin?

Yes, that is a love-child of some kind. From what I know of the first issue, he's neither an natural child (sorry you freaks, no m-preg) or a test-tube baby. He magically appears in the last panel of the last story. No explanation given. Also, Giovanni kidnaps him. :| Not joking, but then any comic that cameos Giovanni is badass by default.
