Want to read a story I wrote?
General | Posted 10 years agoHey All!
Just wanted to let you know about a story that I co-wrote with
Andar, called Power Species.
It's a crossover between the DC Universe and the Species film series, starring Power Girl. She finds some odd sludge on a space shuttle that transforms her into a more powerful, yet monstrous form, and she begins to feel a certain... hunger. Will she be able to resist? I'd tell you more but it'll spoil the story. Just go read chapter one here!

The Legend of Korra: The Ship Sails into the Sunset
General | Posted 11 years agoI just finished watching the last episode of The Legend of Korra. Thoughts are coalescing in my head. Spoilers are inevitable.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Overall, I think the finale was good. It kept the action going, and there was enough character to keep things interesting. It was a satisfying ride... the only problem is that we had to endure a poor season to get to it!
There were some good ideas this season, and the overarching plot was solid, but some things just didn't measure up. The pacing was abysmal in this season, first of all. Part of it could be aimed at the executives who cut back on the budget (which is why we got a clip episode mid-season) but the writers needed someone to smooth things out. I mean, it felt like I was glancing at the clock most of the season, counting down to the inevitable showdown: "Okay, Korra's got five episodes to fix things. Now four... Now three..."
I'd also hoped they'd show more of Korra maturing and growing, but for some reason, it felt like she was just... blank. Like all her stubbornness, fiery spirit and impulsive attitude had just been worn down until there was nothing much left. As long as she was surrounded by fun characters, we wouldn't notice. She had become the Zeppo Marx of Team Avatar: not totally devoid of personality, but there was very little of it left.
Why the HELL didn't they detain Kuvira in Republic City after her self-appointment as "The Great Uniter"? Desertion and high treason are punishable offenses, in any military throughout history!
I'm glad that the Chekhov's Gun of Asami's dad actually went somewhere, but they couldn't have broadcast his death any louder this episode. There was a big red target on his back the moment he volunteered to fly the mecha-suit.
It's too bad there wasn't enough money to complete the season as they wanted. I have a feeling we would have got a kickass battle between Toph and Kuvira's army in the jungle AND more screen time with Zaheer.
The ultimate resolution left a lot to be desired. Everything Kuvira did was because she was just a scared little orphan? Sigh. I'm ashamed to say a small part of me wanted her to die a-la General Zhao. Or to be spirit-bent a-la Firelord Ozai. But a larger, more rational part was glad she'd be alive to stand trial.
The Korra/Asami relationship was actually the best part of the ending, regardless of how you interpret it. Are they just best friends now, or is this the beginning of a long and beautiful relationship? My heart says it's the latter. This has been building since the first season, and I can't decide of the writers intended it or not. Beck then, Korra was rivals with Asami, competing for Mako's attention (even though Asami wasn't really TRYING to compete). That ended as a win for Korra, at the cost of Asami's emotions.
Second season had them thrust together again, and so they needed to repair their relationship out of necessity. They both fought through some deep emotions and came out the better for it, even though Mako was the one who lost out this time.
They were actually working together in the third season as friends, working together to fight bandits and build an airship together. A bond was forged; and Asami fought to protect Korra while she was in the spirit world.
This season actually used a lot of subtext to show just how far they'd come. Asami was the only person whom Korra wrote to, showing that she trusted Asami more than anyone else while she was at her most vulnerable. She stayed with Asami while on Air Temple Island. As if Korra didn't blush when Asami talked to her, she also touched her hair, which is body language for "I like you." Finally, they're together at the end. Just the two of them, holding hands and disappearing into the light as they stare into each others' eyes.
I think it's the closest they could have got to an onscreen kiss. I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get to see one, but there's only so much they can do with children's entertainment. After the Marceline/Bubblegum fiasco from Adventure Time (one of the VAs had confirmed that Marceline and Bubblegum Princess were exes, but the statement was retracted), I think the producers were right to leave it ambiguous. By god, the Korrasami ship will never sink, nor should it.
Meditations on my Birthday: A Rope of Sand
General | Posted 12 years agoSo another year is past. I am older, but am I wiser? I now have a job that's keeping me alive, but all the sitting is making me fat. I have written more in the past year for Dmitrys than I think I've put into my entire post-secondary education, but my own drawing practice has lain fallow. I should be getting help for my ADHD, but I can't seem to find the time. There's money, but there is debt. I'm at a point where I can do things but I'm not sure what I want.
Actually, scratch that. I'll tell you what I want.
I want cake. Carrot cake, with non-dairy cream cheese icing. And I want ice cream. The kind made with coconut milk.
And I want a party. A costume party. With cute musclegirls and cute femboys. We can watch MST3K. I want to play Goldeneye and Mario Kart 64 with anyone extra as designated gropers. I want to have a dance-off and get ground between a boy in a maid's outfit and a girl dressed like Chun-li. I want to feel the hidden packages between their legs hardening as they pound me between them.
We can play Strip MTG, with every loss meaning we put on a naughty costume of the winner's choice. I want to slide under the table and distract my opponents by licking between their toes and kissing their inner thighs. I want to practice french kissing with the boys and give horsey rides to the girls. I want to feel bulges under skirts and soft fleshy mounds against my back. I want to get tapped in the face with a thick length of frustrated virility poking out of the leg of a satiny undergarment, with the promise of secrecy whispered between its owner and I in the lavatory.
I want to be caught in a compromising position and brought out to pass around like the tail to pin on the donkey. Only it'll be my tail getting pinned. I want to be forced, not unwillingly, to swallow creamy gifts, enthusiastically delivered, to the point of passing out.
I want to enjoy myself in ways that I'm not sure I could express in a way that I could write here and still remain, strictly speaking, family friendly. Now exhaustion comes to claim me. I am certain that I will awake tomorrow full of astonishment at what I wrote here in the half-haze of delirious debility. Happy birthday to me!
Ω is the last letter in the Greek alphabet. It is also a measurement of electrical resistance.
I much prefer π, as it is both the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, and a dessert pastry.
RIP Moebius 1938-2012
General | Posted 14 years agoToday we have lost a pioneer of visual media. Jean Giraud, AKA Moebius, was one of France's foremost visual artists working throughout the latter half of the 20th century. His style was unique, influencing science-fiction, fantasy and comics. You can see it in Alien, Star Wars, Dune, Tron, Heavy Metal, The Fifth Element... even manga like Akira and Nausicaa owe elements of their visual style to him.
For those of you that haven't heard of him, I highly recommend finding some of his work, like Airtight Garage, The Incal and even Silver Surfer: Requiem if you're a little leery about jumping headfirst into European comics.
Moebius was a man that did wonderful things in comics, things that are unique to comics, things that would lose their power if they were ever translated into other media. Like Jack Kirby or Frank Frazetta, he changed the way we saw the world. I'm very sad to see him gone.
Odd Thought #39
General | Posted 14 years agoLoki really got around in Norse mythology. He's the father of Hel, queen of the underworld, Fenrir, the wolf prophesied to slay Odin, and Jörmungandr, the serpent that encircles the world.
He's also the mother of Sleipnir, Odin's eight-legged horse.
So I ask, why hasn't anthro female horse Loki (preggo or not) caught on here?
(re)Building
General | Posted 14 years agoRecently* I'd been having troubles with my 500gb secondary HD so I had to buy a new one to replace the primary HD** and recover what I could from the secondary. This Christmas, I got a new*** 250gb HD and I had my friend install it after backing up what little I could rescue.
Turns out that there were some snags.
The HD I got for Christmas? Most likely refurbished. It only registered about 150gb of usable space. As for my 500gb? Bricked. Totally useless. I suppose there's a certain amount of irony in that: My old HD (which is outmatched by modern flash drives) lasts for more than a decade while the 500gb lasts for a third of that.
Rebuilding from nothing is probably the most difficult part. I'm struggling to dredge my memory for what programs, apps, bookmarks and extensions I had that made my life easier. Not to mention things like music, game saves, reaction pics, bits of writing and a porn collection that staggered the imagination.
Now all that is lost to the ether.
Sometimes I wonder how much of the data I had gathered was unique. Does that ever cross anyone else's mind? When you have something on your computer that has been scoured from the web and you never see it again, but you're okay with that because it's on your computer? Because I get that. (Ask me about the Spunky Knight wallpaper sometime.)
As for me, I'm going to try and reconstruct my bookmarks folder and hope that my memory hasn't gone so creaky that I've forgotten all my passwords.
Birthday thoughts
General | Posted 14 years agoBeing self-sufficient is a lot harder than I once believed, especially when you have ADHD.
Thinking about doing things all the time doesn't necessarily motivate you.
Not having money is a chilling sensation.
Consistent sleep schedule and a healthy diet are invaluable.
Live conversation will always be more therapeutic than typing messages on the internet.
Veganism might not be for me, and that's okay.
Writing is easier than drawing, but not necessarily as fulfilling for me.
I need more hugs.
A story I wrote
General | Posted 14 years ago... has somehow found its way to FurAffinity.
A few weeks ago, Dmitry asked me to write a story to accompany a pic he was posting to his site, dmitrysfuta.com. It was a picture of Rika and a futa-nized Renamon in a squalid public bathroom. I threw together something appropriately filthy to complement the picture, which Dmitry liked.
As usual, the denizens of 4chan's /d/ were quick to snap up and redistribute the pics from his site. Now that it's no longer exclusive, the commissioner can post it, which brings us to today. I was browsing Bigshow's favorites, and I found this:
