• internet is down at the studio ☠ there will be some delays in stuff i cant post from my phone (as I'm doing now lol). Hopefully maintenance will be quick and I'll be back up shortly.
• MFF WIPs done, waiting to be able to send/ get approval for final vectors. Excited!
•Squawktober week 1 down and week 2 starting! I will be invoicing my picks for week 2 as soon as possible, keep an eye out. I owe Oct 7th pics to be posted when net is back.

I guess it's about time for an update? I don't post as much due to adulting and careering most of the time these days, but here's where I've been and what I'm up to!

- My sweet husband rapier4 and I had our 1 year anniversary this month :) I'm pretty much the luckiest person in the world to be married to such a great guy. Life is good!!
- I guess I'm the real industry deal now, I have done official video game art for a well known game developer! (I prefer not to mix my career and my hobby here so no details but suffice it to say you've probably seen it if you've been to a game store lately.) With a promotion and another big industry gig on the horizon, I'm a busy but pleased birb.
- I was at TFF and PAX South and will be attending BLFC. Hope to see you there! MFF is a maybe!
- I got addicted to Destiny. Like really addicted. Send help (or mountain dew and cheetohs).
- Still lifting, still doing mud runs and rucking. Am stronk. Got another OCR in April.
- I got a new car and pimped it out Mery purple with custom plates and stuff. B} Like a boss.
- Last and least, I turn thirty later this year. YIKES!

Clearly I am a lame old geezer cause yesterday I was streaming on my usual livestream channel, and I got several comments of the nature "wow, livestream, haven't seen this used in a while!" WELL, HELP ME BE HIP. I thought someone called the new one 'picarta' ??or something?? but when I google that I just get random dutch websites, so I think I must have got the name wrong. HELP ME FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, livestream kinda sucks anyway. How do I do the thing, do you like the thing better than livestream, is the thing free or have ads, how does the thing work?

Hello lovelies! Hope you're all having a great end-of-2014!

I have a question! I have "ghost" submissions in my FA inbox... 20 submissions and 16 journals. But when I go to my inbox nothing is there! I've tried nuking. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also a reminder to those who like Mery arts but are not getting enough to follow merystic @ twitter! I post lots of doodles and WIPs there when I can. Some of it I repost here but it's on a more regular basis and there will be some that don't get reposted.

There are so many of you I want to see/meet/hang out with/draw with/party with >:( You better come find me and say hi if you're going. cough ms.delicious cough bourbonbuck cough cough cough to name a few. cough.

As some of you may have guessed, I'm going through some RL issues right now. Coupled with the art block from before, and my job keeping me busy as hell on weekdays, understand that I'm trying hard to work art back into my life but I'm running on threadbare time and even more threadbare spirit at the moment.

If you're on the list I just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten you, I will still get yours done when I am able. That said I also wanted to say the following,

In all honesty, I don't do commissions for the money (that's what my day job is for, after all), I do it because it makes people happy and in turn it makes me happy to be able to give that to people. Money brings order to the chaos of a bunch of people who want art for different reasons at varying degrees of sincerity. At the heart of things I just like to see people gain satisfaction and happiness from art. Sadly I don't have infinite time to just draw everything for everyone for free. I do what I can, when I can.

So,
If you as a commissioner aren't happy with how long it's taking, it won't hurt my feelings or my pockets if you would rather have a refund than wait on the art.
Likewise, if you as a commissioner really just want some Mery art and don't mind that I have other stuff weighing on my time and mind, I promise I will get to you, I never ever take the money and run.

I just want everyone to know their options and be open and honest with y'all about where I'm at right now. It's not a great place emotionally and it's not where I want to be, but it is what it is and I got to deal with all my obligations just the same. Commissioners: you shouldn't have to be adversely affected by my RL circumstances, just want you to be aware of them, my intentions, and your options.

...breaking out of this damn art drought. Well, maybe not tonight 'cause I gotta go to Houston this weekend, but soon I hope! Just browsing FA is making me ache to get back to drawing more. I apologize for being a little scarce the last couple of months. Ever since I started my new job (which is FANTASTIC, by the way!!) I feel like I haven't had a lot of time to catch my breath, and when I find myself with any time I lack the energy to do anything except lay there and play 3ds or sleep. Lovely bump on a log I'm being. I manage to do twitter sketches every once in a while if you want to rummage through that for recent Mery art but that's been about it. My new-to-me hand-me-down Cintiq isn't getting nearly enough love. ;m; I have some traditional-media commissions to post but I gotta get off my butt and scan 'em.

Most of you probably already noticed, 'cause of my most recent submission, but...

I GOT THE JOB. YAAAAAAAAY!! *explodes into confetti*

So it's official! No more pathetic laid-off unemployed burd. I formally accepted the offer to be a web designer for GameStop corporate. This career is a perfect fit for me, because it is a lot of graphic design (in line with my passion) and a bit of front-end web coding (in line with my degree), and is right in the salary range I was hoping for with great benefits to boot. If you receive GameStop's newsletters and promotional emails, I will be the designer behind a lot of that from now on, as well as a portion of their website content. I start on Monday, and I couldn't be more excited 'v' They told me they were really impressed with me and that they think I'll be a great fit and ugh it was just...so good to hear that. The poor shape of the economy and the silence I was hearing in response to the vast majority of my applications was really starting to wear down my self-confidence and optimism.

Thanks so much to everyone who encouraged me, believed in me, helped me out with commissions, and pulled for me during this tough time. ;v; It really does mean the world to me to have support like that. And to those of you who are still searching for that right job (or any job), I can truly sympathize...keep at it though, perseverance wins in the end! If you get a hundred "no"s and one "yes," it's still a resounding "yes!" If I did it, you can do it too!

I'll give y'all a full report on how awesome it is after my first day or two 'v' I anticipate maximum levels of awesome based on the Master Chief statue in the lobby, Game Informers scattered everywhere, Call of Duty themed guest badge, and game posters all over the cubicle area. I haven't been this excited for a first day of anything since...ever, I think! I just can't wait!


PS. Since some are bound to be wondering: no, this won't affect current commissions or the anticipated reopening sometime in Feb-March. Still on my art game!
