Excuses, excuses...
Posted 17 years agoWell, it can't of escaped peoples notice that the animations have stopped coming for now. Sorry to say I'm just too busy animating for the day job; I'm lead on my current project, which means that it's my tail in the mangle if it all goes wrong. So it's had 100% of my attention of late.
I'm certainly not going to abandon the meerkat and his friends (who still don't know what their in for, mwahaha), but this is how things are likely to pan out around here. Splurges of work, mixed in with periods when I'm too busy to post.
Yours, Weaselingly,

Meerkat delayed..
Posted 18 years agoSorry to say, but it will be a few more days before I get around to completing the current sequence.
I've got a nasty cold virus (as opposed to a nice, happy, transformational virus, like, say, martian flu) and, combined with the general chrimbo rush, I'm unlikely to have the time till I finish work for the holidays.
Thanks to those who messaged me, asking =O)

The morphing paradox...
Posted 18 years agoThe past couple of days I've been working on the face morphing for the Meerkat TF, and ive noticed an odd paradox...
Quick zappy transformations are a cop out - its the in-between stages that are so compelling. So the slower the better, right?
Well not really, ive found that if you morph too slow you don't really notice the transformation. Its even worse if the transformation uniformly effects the whole head or whole body. And if the characters moving around too, the transformation itself just gets lost in the mix.
I'm starting to realise that what makes a good transformation is CONTRAST. If the transition between human and animal is too slow, there's no contrast. Likewise if its too uniform.
So a change either needs to go from human to animal quick enough that the first is still fresh in the audiences mind. Or bits need to remain human next to the animal for contrast.
A slow smooth change is nice but dull: there's no point of reference.
Keep one element unchanged and the impact of the morph is greatly increased.
There's really no easy way to get that effect, so im having to model and texture various stages along the way and transition between each in turn. It's time consuming but I really feel like im learning. =O)

Hi, thanks and a couple of questions...
Posted 18 years agoWow, I can't thank people enough for all the words of encouragement! Its really gotten me exited =O)
Some of you probably know me from my FA account as Deezlberries, but I figured my transformation stuff would benifit from the space to breathe:
This way I can post variations on the same transformation, get feedback from transformation nuts and generally go TF crazy. All without boreing the tails off the furry populous at large as yet another video of a hand turning into a paw appears in their inbox =OP
For starters, I've got a few questions...
Should I repost the TF anims I did from my deezlberries account? - This would keep all the TF stuff nice and neat in this account and give me the chance to add some variations and add in the timeline slider for pausing and going back and forth through a tf.
I don't want to try peoples patience by re-cycling old stuff, so if theres no interest I won't do it. But if people want it ill re render the anims, possably at a higher rez, or slower, or from a different angle. Its really all up to you. =O)
