I'll just say it's been a hell of a ride, and all Mewtwo fans should celebrate today!

Sorry for taking a while to post this -
furmech was with me and I wasn't as active as normal.
Anyway, enjoy the show; without spoiling it, I'll say they definitely did their research on both Mewtwo AND Shadow.

Mewtwo now playable in Pokken Tournament Arcade!
Posted 9 years agohttp://www.perfectly-nintendo.com/p.....ament-youtube/
Yeah, I know, I'm going from not posting anything for the longest time to rushing in with info about something where all the details aren't fully out there yet...but it seems that there's going to be a way to have the original Mewtwo playable in the arcade version of Pokken, in addition to having him on the home console!
This marks the second time that a game was released without Mewtwo initially playable, and then he's added in after the fact.
I'll update this journal once the full details are posted somewhere as to how the special event works.

So Mewtwo is - rightfully so - the most attractive Pokemon in the eyes of Japan.
Japan has good taste. Yes, yes they do.

Happy 19th Birthday, Mewtwo!
Posted 9 years agoAdmittedly I didn't have the journal set up and ready to post right at midnight this year - I've honestly been wondering exactly what's left to be said beyond "Happy Birthday!"
There's even more to celebrate this year than last though - as of last February 6th, Mewtwo was announced for Smash 4, but not yet playable. April 15th has come and gone, and there have been a few tweaks to Mewtwo in patches - while he's not top tier as far as competitive viability goes, he's not the worst character by any stretch of the imagination, which is still an improvement over his prior Smash appearance.
But the more things change, the more they stay the same - we go into this February 6th waiting for another Mewtwo fighting game release. Pokken Tournament is just around the corner and both Mewtwo and Shadow Mewtwo are separate playable characters. Some Dave & Buster's stores will also be getting Pokken Tournament Arcade in, and we know that at least Shadow Mewtwo will be in there, with the possibility of the original later (heh, isn't it weird how Mewtwo keeps getting added to games after the fact from fan interest and demand?)
If you go by the official release date of February 27, 1996 for Pokemon Red/Green in Japan, that would be AFTER February 6th, meaning that Mewtwo would not officially have been "born" until 1997. Here we are 19 years later, and boy has this fandom come a long way.
There's nothing left to get riled up over, and this'll be the second of Mewtwo's birthdays where no one that loves Mewtwo should feel like they're left wanting more for him. We might get even more in the future, but as it is we can just sit back and enjoy the ride.
I hope everyone out there's enjoying Mewtwo's special day!

Normal Mewtwo ALSO added to Pokken Tournament

Standard Mewtwo, Braixen, and Garchomp have made the roster for the WiiU title.
So there can be Regular Mewtwo / Shadow Mewtwo matchups. This is going to be interesting to say the least!

One Year Later - Mewtwo's Smashiversary
Posted 10 years agoSo it's been one year to the day since the 50-Fact Extravaganza has been unveiled, and the last announcement (#54/50) showed Mewtwo would be returning to the world of Super Smash Bros. as DLC.
So what's happened since then for us in the world of Mewtwo, both Super Smash Bros. and otherwise?
*Mewtwo was released on April 15th (for early adopters)/April 29th (general public for purchase.) He was not as good as Project M's version - hell, he's still not in the top half as viability in Smash 4 - but he's still better than Melee, and with character changes being commonplace between updates, he could always be buffed. I've always said it and will say it again - it's more important he be in than he be competitively viable under the way the tournament community plays Smash. It took a couple patches for his game-breaking glitches to be fixed, and his glitched customs were hilarious. But maybe he'll get customs patched in eventually.
*Mewtwo was revealed to be one of the bosses you fight as a mob in Pokemon Go, a mobile game that will be coming out soon. On one hand, it was a bit hard to watch about a thousand trainers all sending their Pokemon to attack Mewtwo at one time, but he was caught, not killed, and I can respect that for him as an insane difficulty endboss.
*The Mewtwo amiibo was just released today in Europe/UK! He'll be coming out in 3 weeks in the US, November 13th. He looks amazing, far better than I expected for a $14 figure.
As it is, there's not much else going on with Mewtwo right now - but there doesn't need to be. The fandom is as strong as ever. I don't know what's going to come for him past Pokemon Go - like what will go on with him in the anime spinoff centered around the Mega Evolution - but whatever it is I look forward to seeing what the fandom, and the powers that be from the official sources, come up with.

MEWTWO SAVE CORRUPTION GLITCH IN SMASH 4 - IMPORTANT!
Posted 10 years agohttp://www.nintendolife.com/news/20.....modes_to_avoid
Apparently, there's a bug in how Smash handles scenarios in which you have cleared certain modes with all fighters, and then clear them with Mewtwo. The game gets a second "beat with all characters" signal, which apparently sets a red flag for cheating/hacking, resetting your GSP to 0 and then disallowing play online.
In WiiU, you need to stay out of Classic, All-Star, Stadium mode, and Trophy Rush with Mewtwo.
In 3DS, all of the above plush Smash Run.
Nintendo knows there's a problem and is working on it.
(As a personal note I did play Classic and All-Star and haven't had my data wiped out, but most people are reporting the issue comes from 10-man Smash or other similar Stadium modes. But I would avoid all of that to be careful for now!)

Mewtwo's return to Smash is in two weeks - April 15th!
Posted 10 years agoWow, Nintendo. You did so, so much right.
Mewtwo's reveal trailer being the very first thing in the Direct.
Affordable for those who didn't get both Smashes ahead of time ($5) yet a two-week advantage for those who did register with Club Nintendo. April 15th for those who registered and April 28th for those paying for him.
It looks like a number of his moves are buffed, but he still retains his whole Melee moveset for the most part.
February 6th has always been a day of celebration for us. October 23rd was added last year...and now April 15th is the third major day for our little corner of the world.
Long live the Mewtwo fandom!
Happy Birthday once more, Mewtwo!
Posted 10 years agoI sit here typing this, waiting to post it at midnight Eastern on February 6th...one of the most significant days to our little corner of the world, our fandom, the thing that brought us all together.
February 6th, for the scant few of you that might not know, is Mewtwo's birthday, per in-game canon. If you're going by the Japanese release date of 2/27/1996 and counting February 6th of the same year, that would make Mewtwo 19 this year; if you're counting the US release of 1998, he'd be 17 this year. I would think the original release takes precedent and he'd be considered 19.
The last 12 months have been some of the most eventful for all of us who have a deep love for the psychic powerhouse. We saw a new movie, we saw Mega Evolutions (they may have been a hair more than one year ago, but close enough for my purposes) - for better or worse, and the debate on that stll goes on...and we went from utter disappointment on September 11th 2014, when the Japanese roster leak was confirmed true and Mewtwo appeared to be cut from Smash once more, only to be shocked on October 23rd when the 54th fact in Nintendo's 50-Fact Extravaganza was the confirmation that Mewtwo would be added to the game as downloadable content this spring. The Mewtwo fandom...everyone that has made or commissioned artwork, written fiction, bought merchandise, shown themselves in online communities in any way, shape, or form...we've shown ourselves to be a significant force within the Pokemon fandom, and thus Mewtwo's place is cemented as an important part of Nintendo's history and lore.
This is a year to celebrate!
But where do we go from here?
For the past half-decade, up until October 23rd, the bulk of my focus on Mewtwo's public presence (at least the SFW part of it, anyway) was trying to show him as worthy of something. But in that sense, there is no longer a "fight". But there doesn't need to be. The talented artists and authors of this community will keep producing wonderful pieces, and the fans will continue showing their fandom as they always have.
When I was handed control of MewtwoFurs, I thought of doing a contest for this day - but as it is, while many people search for and post Mewtwo work, trying to put out a call for art/fiction didn't seem right to me somehow. Mewtwo's birthday will come every year, and trying to force something for it, save significant milestone years (perhaps 2021, Mewtwo's 25th birthday and his age of wisdom?) would be lackluster in my opinion.
But then I thought to more recent events...back to Smash, and to the world of Pokemon as a whole. Those that train their Mewtwo for battle, but are often unable to use him as he's deemed too powerful. But there is one world in which Mewtwos can still be trained AND will not be turned away from the battlefield. That would be the wonderful world of Amiibo!
My plans to celebrate this year will not take place today, but rather if and when Mewtwo's Amiibo is announced, and pre-orders for him go live. Mewtwo has given me much over the years - a loving relationship, at many times a path to follow, and hopefully direction for the next 50 or more years I'm on this planet. If I'm going to give back, I think that should be the way I do it this year. I plan on picking up as many as possible, from as many different places, and giving them to those who are part of the Mewtwo fandom and would have use for them. (Basically, if you received a Mewtwo fandom badge from me in the past, and you play Smash, odds are I'd be trying to give you an Amiibo gift as well. That's not to say those would be the only people that get them but it'd be a good starting list!)
As it is, this is a time to celebrate, and a time to show the world of Nintendo what Mewtwo means to us. For me, that also means I need to step up over the coming months and work towards making the MewtwoFurs page a beacon for what the furry world has to offer him. I need to do some updates - thankfully, more minor ones - to The Mewtwo Codex to show what the past half-year has added, both official and custom. And on a slightly non-Mewtwo note, I need to finish playing through the last few pieces of Nintendo history that I picked up for myself, and finish hopefully before Mewtwo would be released.
While Mewtwo has existed since '96, possibly even '95 if you count conception of the series, for many of us in the United States, Mewtwo's true fandom began the day Mewtwo Strikes Back was released in theaters - November 10th (or 12th, depending on which source you believe), 1999. That means that Mewtwo has been part of our lives for a bit over 15 years now. Here's to the next 15!
It's now midnight, and time to officially kick off his special day.

Smash 4 Mewtwo DLC + Code Duplication Glitch
Posted 11 years agoSo, as you all know, Mewtwo has been announced as DLC for Smash 4. By registering both the WiiU and 3DS versions to the same Club Nintendo account, in addition to getting the free Smash 4 soundtrack sent to you in the mail, you'll also get a download code for the Mewtwo DLC when he's ready. (The Nintendo UK Twitter account confirmed he'll be purchasable by those who don't have both versions, and I can only assume the US will follow suit, so no worries there!)
But what if you're only interested in one version of Smash 4, or financially unable to get both consoles and both versions, and still want to play as Mewtwo without waiting for the ability to purchase after the promotional period?
I believe I can help.
There is an age-old glitch with Club Nintendo (formerly MyNintendo) PIN registration that may aid us in getting Mewtwo into the hands of more people (and also more soundtracks sent out.)
If you have an already-used registration PIN - for ANY game, not just Smash - take a look at the 14-digit alphanumeric code. It may look like ABC-1234-DEFG-567. Take the last character, whether it's a letter or a number, and increment it by one. (D becomes E, 4 becomes 5, Q becomes R, etc.) This will generate one additional working PIN.
There may be two characters this doesn't work from - from the glitch back in 2002, for some reason J became 2 and Z became 9. I don't know if this has changed; if incrementing the last character doesn't work, just keep changing the last character of your PIN and it should eventually produce a working result.
Someone brought up the possibility to me that this could lock some other legitimate buyer out of their PIN. Given how this glitch works, I believe this to be impossible. Since it's ONLY moving forward a character that works, and not backward by one, I think the doubled PIN is not tied to an actual released code; now if moving forward OR backward worked, then there'd be a case for it. But in order for the glitch to be consistent, if you have XXX-XXXX-XXXX-XX4, and you used XXX-XXXX-XXXX-XX5, in order for XX5 to be someone else's PIN, they would then have to be able to use XX6...and since incrementing the PIN only works ONCE, I'm reasonably sure that the duplicated PIN is not tied to someone else's actual game.
I have tested this on my own copy of Smash 4 for WiiU, using the incremented PIN instead of the original one that came with my purchase - it worked.
So...why dupe? There are a number of reasons.
First and foremost, there are situations in which a family may have one WiiU and copy of Smash for it, but multiple 3DS systems and multiple copies of Smash, this would provide an avenue for the additional copy or copies of 3DS Smash to be registered on separate Club Nintendo accounts and get the Mewtwo DLC code without having to purchase a second WiiU copy of Smash, which would be quite silly to do.
Second, trades. If you have both versions of Smash, you obviously will be getting Mewtwo and the soundtrack for yourself. But that also means you have the means to get another soundtrack. Mewtwo DLC will be a premium for a good while, until sold separately; the soundtrack will also be worth some money (a quick search for Smashing Live, the Melee soundtrack, shows completed auctions between $11 and $27 recently - this could be a good benchmark.) While you may not want another copy of the soundtrack, there are other people that surely would, and may have something else to offer.
...there's also wanting to grab the second yourself and Mewtwo DLC codes and just selling them all outright, like with what was most done with the 2002 glitch and the Zelda: Collector's Edition promo. I'd prefer that people that find out about the glitch through this at least give the Mewtwo DLC to others within the fandom...but even if some people see this and do it for themselves to turn a quick buck, if some others are altruistic with the Mewtwo DLC codes, then that still results in more Mewtwo players, which is a good thing.
I thought about keeping this secret and just asking everyone for their used codes, but honestly I would rather see more people end up with Mewtwo as a whole.
Anyway, if any of you decide to test this out, please let me know if it's working for you as well!

Mewtwo here -
SSJ3Mewtwo has allowed me to take over this account and see if I can turn it into something amazing.I have a number of ideas, but the main thing is two-fold; doing with this account what is unique to FA, and what is not already covered somewhere else within the fandom.
For collection stuff, we already have a number of sites - the fully-fleshed out Mewtwo Museum and my own Mewtwo Codex, plus some other smaller ones like The Twisted Spoon (MewtwoHavoka's page) and Purple Psy (Myuutsufan's newly-launched page) - there are other pages that cover his lore, not the least of which is Copy Cat (plus you have Bulbapedia and the other solid Wikis.)
I believe this account not only needs to be a collection of the highest quality Mewtwo artwork currently on FA (the PG-13 and below art, anyway) but also a celebration of those that celebrate Mewtwo himself and a place to discuss topics of the moment for what's going on with the psychic powerhouse.
I'm still fleshing out the exact plan of what I want to do...but those of you still watching or lurking, what ideas do you have? What would you like to see here - and elsewhere for Mewtwo in general?
The Time Has Come (Smash 4)

This officially means that I will actually be buying the game(s) now. As tempting as Charizard and Geninja were, I didn't really want to shell out the bucks without the Purple One being there.
But he will be, and it will (I hope) be glorious.
Thoughts?
I notice the stance is slightly different this time around. It looks a bit more open, yet aggressive at the same time.

MewtwoFurs Contest Closed!
Posted 11 years agoActually, it closed when the 7th hit, but I was asleep, and then had to work.
With no competition to vie for the win,
PostalRoo's entry (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14688275/) has taken the winning spot, and he gets the first-place reward of a $100 commission from the artist of his choice, or $100 worth of Steam content.
I'll ask the judges to write up critiques of the submission, and send those to me via Note. Feedback is always a good thing, even if the contest was won by the only entry. It might help to get some from judgment officials for the next time a contest is participated in.
I will likely be waiting a month or so for another contest run. If you have any contest theme ideas, feel free to Note them my way, or leave a comment here!

Contest Reminder
Posted 11 years agoIt's juuuuuuuust about halfway through the time-limit of the MewtwoFurs drawing contest, so this is just a friendly reminder of it to all watchers. Remember, contest ends when the clock ticks over to the 7th of October!

The First Contest of MewtwoFurs!
Posted 11 years agoHello everyone!
SSJ3Mewtwo here!
A couple weeks ago I posted the Many Mewtwos 2 submission, and included in that submission an announcement that to stir up a bit of activity and competition I was interested in commencing a bit of…well…competition!
So this journal kicks that off. It's the first official competition of the FurAffinity
MewtwoFurs channel.
The theme of the competition is: artwork of mewtwo transformation. The contest will be to create artwork of a character becoming a mewtwo, or of a mewtwo-character becoming something else.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The guidelines and rules are as follows:
-All entries must be rated as clean. This is not an erotica contest, and I'd prefer it be as visible and accessible to as many community members as possible.
-This is strictly focused on artwork, not stories. But there will likely be a story-writing contest sometime in the future. It can be single images, comic sequences, whatever works for you.
-The theme can be executed by any method or reasoning the artist wants to use. Magic, tech/sci-fi, evolution pokemon style, Mega-forms, etc.
-The contest entry dates will run from today, September 7, 2014 – October 7, 2014. One month exactly. Once the clock shifts over to the 7th, that's the end of the entry deadline. Why start on the 7th of this month? To give a bit of time for people to ask questions and get clarification, of course.
-All entries must be drawn for this contest. Prior works will not be accepted.
-Entries do not need to be uploaded to FA, if you don't want to upload them on your personal account. I will accept links to things like a DA account or the like. However, they will be uploaded by the MewtwoFurs account, with proper accreditation.
-Please send entries via note, not comments to this journal or page shouts.
-Judgment by a panel of 3 judges (myself, and two others who will be kept anonymous until judgment is complete) will begin after the month has concluded. Judges will sadly be excluded from entering the contest as contestants.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Rewards!
What's a contest without a prize?
There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
1st place: A $100 commission from the artist of your choice, paid for by me. Alternatively, $100 worth of Steam content.
2nd place: Same format, but $50
3rd place: Same format, but $20

Just to confirm
Posted 12 years agoThe guard has indeed changed.
SSJ3Mewtwo here. I wanted to post up a notice myself that I've assumed control of this group account, and I'll be setting to work spiffying it up over the course of the next week or so.
My aim for basic forms of group activity is to post some regularly paced journals regarding content related to The Purple One, start up a good spree of fav'ing and featuring for artwork on the site (and I'm very much interested in cross-featuring content or events taking place on other sites, like DA, IB, or Weasyl).
I might open up a slot or two for co-runners, but for a gradual group kick-up I think I'll hold off on anything official in that regard (that sad, if you're interested, sling a note to this account).
I'm very curious regarding just what the MewtwoFurs themselves would care to see of this account beyond just the basics of art being posted to it and bits of fandom news though. If you have ideas for contests, posting subjects, stories, or the like, please do post them up and I'll be sure to read everything (send a note if you prefer to be confidential).
That's largely that, for a short and straight-forward update. Keep an eye on the main page and journals for coming changes!

Changing of the Guard
Posted 12 years agoDue to my inability to keep this group updated and give it the attention it sorely needs, I've decided to relinquish control of the group to
ssj3mewtwo. If you've seen the amount of Mewtwo material he frequently journals about on his profile, then you'll probably be safe to assume it'll be much better off in his hands than in mine. Certainly will be much more active from now on.
Have fun, you lot. Blue Mewtwo out.

thesomethingPokémon Power Bracket -- Help Vote Mewtwo Up!
Posted 13 years agoCopied with permission from
ssj3mewtwo's journal: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/3741459/
The Pokemon website is currently running a fan-base tournament, focused on votes of the community on who they think is the most powerful pokemon character.
Mewtwo, bless the Purple One, and Mew, bless the Pink Cute Thing, have made it to the semi-finals.
http://www.pokemon.com/powerbracket/us/
BUT MEWTWO NEEDS HELP!
He's made it through this many brackets and now suddenly he's falling behind in votes to Rayquaza.
Yes, I understand the appeal of Rayquaza. Don't get me wrong there.
But Rayquaza does not stand a chance against a pokemon with so much psychic power that he'dve terrified Professor Xavior even while he was hooked up to Cerebro.
So to all the Two fans, rally up! You can vote once a day. Let's turn the tide and keep Mewtwo in the fight!
You heard the man, folks! Go vote Mewtwo up so we can show us Mewtwo fans are still out there!
