Halloween Special - Burke and Burke

And here's all 6 pages for the Steve & Bob Halloween Special!
It's Halloween and Steve is preparing for a special Halloween party (despite his kindly kidnapper's objections to him leaving the house). When Steve discovers an old shop and has to choose between the mystical monkey claw or the enchanted necklace. Steve chooses the monkey claw. He chooses the monkey claw. Steve DEFINITELY chooses the monkey claw. That is his choice. The monkey claw. Yes.

Bob's Costume Adventure is Complete!
General | Posted 12 years ago31 days, 31 costumes. It's been a hell of a challenge and I'm proud of the work I've done. Bob has dressed up as various things, from a saucy goth to a law enforcer (yeah, I know, that last one was stretching it a bit).
So what have you guys been thinking of the costumes Bob has been wearing then? Which ones were your favourites and which ones were you not particularly keen on?
Thanks to everyone for their support, it's meant a lot to me.

Also, only a few of Bob's costumes left until it's over! What has been your favourite costume so far?

London MCM Expo. Brace yourself
General | Posted 12 years agoSo in a surreal twist of events, I'm finding myself attending London MCM Expo this Saturday with a band called Fearless Vampire Killers promoting work for their comic that I've done concept art for WITH MY GRAPHIC NOVEL ELEMENTAL MICAH. These are things I never would have thought possible when I first joined FA. A professional comic artist.
Pfft...
How many of you merry lot are from London? If you are, come say hi. I'll either be with the band, or meandering around Artists Alley. And even though it's not technically a furry, Elemental Micah Just Exhale does have a dog called Alfonzo in it. Well worth a tenner.
Love you, bye.
ps: What're you guys thinking of the Daily Bob doodles?

Audio Interview with Steve & Bob news and Elemental Micah
General | Posted 14 years agoAs part of the MOMBcast, I got interviewed by Jon and James about the new Elemental Micah comic. There is also chat about defending Dana Osbourne's existence, a smattering of news about Steve & Bob and quite a bit of chat about how the awfullness of "Smallville" and the glory of the British sitcom "Birds of a Feather" inspired me to do better as a writer!

When everything happens all at once...
General | Posted 14 years agoThere has been a lot of news lately, most of which I've been posting on my new FA account at http://www.furaffinity.net/user/mikedraws/ but just in case you haven't crossed over, here's a little catch up:

http://t.co/LkCrFZdy - Me being interviewed!
The other week, I heard a lot of chatter on Twitter about a podcast being recoreded, so I asked what it was about. They said if I want to be on, I'd have to pop on 'Right now!'
Fifteen minutes later I sussed out how this whole Skype thing works (honestly, it's like I turned into my parents) and here is the conversation that ensued...

Also, I was reading an article about alternative comics people can read as opposed to the DC stuff which seems to be dominating at the moment. I got the shock of my life when I discovered that Elemental Micah was in this list! It's very surreal to see my comic amongst so many other comics I love.

Looting in Wood Green, riots in the streets.
General | Posted 14 years agoI'm not sure how aware you guys are with the news in Britain, but there has been a lot of rioting in North London these past few days. News websites and twitter have been full of pictures and movies of buses on fire, police cars being smashed in and a shop (along with the private residences above it) being destroyed in Tottenham.
While all this aggression and arson seems to have only taken place in Tottenham, there have been other accounts of looting in various other places, one of which I quite like. While Wood Green is often looked at as a rather rough and dubious area, I do like it. A long time ago I used to work in a chocolate shop there, it's where I met some of my best friends and it's where a lot of my friends still live and work. So while everyone is taking the lighter side of all of this chaos, I can't help feeling depressed when I look at shops boarded up, scuffed up and stock ruined or even half gone. It takes a lot of effort to make a shop presentable and something people will go out of their way to look around and walking down the street just made me feel somewhat vulnerable.
Thankfully anyone and everyone I know who lives at these locations are okay and I'm glad I wasn't really anywhere near all of this when it happened. I suppose it's like seeing an extension of your home ransacked. And I don't really know what to think of the people who did the looting. Either they're desperate after so many cuts under this new government, or it's the summer holiday and the kids are bored. Honestly, I'm no expert, but it does help to try and find a reason to all this madness.
Anyone who has followed me for a while has known that I have been desperate in the past. I'm self employed at the moment. True I can't afford much, but I can afford to live and that's helping me out just fine at the moment. The idea of just going into an empty place and taking what I want is certainly an appealing one (I write about a thief in S&B after all) but it just wouldn't sit right with me. Money needs to be earned and stealing whatever the hell you like defeats the object of earning the things you have. If you know what I mean. Hmm, I hope that made sense!
So, yeah, that's my view of what's been happening in my neighbourhood. I don't like it, I don't want it, but it was inevitable. Desperation and ignorance always leads to conflict.

Update and Ideas
General | Posted 14 years agoIn case you don't have the Feacebook, you can have a look here at some of the photos of the cosplayers from the lfcc. http://mhg5.deviantart.com/gallery/31525984?offset=0 I'm a bit undecided as to whether to put these photos up in FA, while I think it might be cool to show them here, the FA pages have been a bit quiet since I stopped doing Steve & Bob.
Speaking of which, I will start a very new and exciting 'Challenge' once I have finished issue 4 of Elemental Micah (which should hopefully be by the end of next month). The details need to be refined, but it will involve a certain dog, a certain mouse and the number 30...

Yep, that's one looooooooong link.
All three Elemental Micah comics are avaliable on Kindle. As for Steve & Bob, that will take a bit of time. I'm planning on making the 3 panel strips go vertically instead of horizontally just to suit the reader better.
This might take some time.
Also I'm working on ish4 of Elemental Micah, so it might be a while before anything appears on Kindle for Steve & Bob, but I plan on making it a higher resolution and even have a few bonus strips planned. I have missed writing and drawing Steve & Bob, so finishing EM4 seems like an incentive!

Cross-over funness at Jambo featuring a three page short story drawn by MEEEE! Ahem. Page one is out today. Friend or Foe? Click and find out kids!
If you like it, leave a comment on that page (which is a tad ardous with the signing in process, but it's worth a go me thinks) or leave a comment here. Actually, do what you like, you're free to do whatever you like. Have a dance if you like. I'm rambling, I'll stop.

Blimey, Osama Bin Laden is dead.
General | Posted 14 years agoIt took about ten years, but at last they nabbed Osama Bin Laden. As much as I think it would have been better to take him alive, I honestly think it'd be near impossible to do so as he was an excellent shot and it'd take great courage and brilliant strategic to nab him so. I'm glad the monster is gone, this will really hurt the people who insist on taking innocent lives.
Fuck the royal family
General | Posted 14 years agoThat is all.
Do you want the good news first or the bad?
General | Posted 14 years agoFirstly, the bad and I was really, really shocked that Elisabeth Sladen died this morning after battling cancer. Bloody stupid disease. For those that don't know, Elisabeth Sladen was Sarah Jane Smith from the British TV series Doctor Who. Sarah Jane Smith also had it's own spin off series due to the character's popularity (also, the last series really was better than Matt Smith's Dr Who series by a long shot). She was fiesty as hell yet sweet as anything, so it was really sad to hear this news.
Hm, seems odd going on to some good news after that, but it might distract you for a bit. As some of you have noticed, there have been a few doodles kicking about the place featuring a female aviator who I've simply called 'The Commander'. Well, not that I should ever tell you guys what to do, but keep an eye out for my friend's webcomic. It ain't a furry, but it is a very fun, incredibly enjoyable and highly ridiculous read about food based superheroes fighting numerous baddies. http://notregret.com/jambo/ It might be a few weeks before you see anything new, so use that time wisely and have a read of George's comic. You're gonna see some serious shit.
