Well, the team at ConFurgence HQ sure have, and we are pleased to announce that the special booking deal with the Hilton South Wharf is NOW OPEN!
The Hilton South Wharf is one of three official accommodation options for ConFurgence, and it is surely the most luxurious!
Our Special deal has given us a major discount for this famous four-star International hotel!
The Hilton South Wharf, where we have a limited number of rooms set-aside purely for ConFurgence (so hurry fast) does NOT require a deposit! You can book now and pay upon CHECK-OUT. The special deal rate extends from the 8th of January until the 13th, so you can squeeze in an extra day or two at the same rate!

CONFURGENCE!!!

THAT'S RIGHT, furbies and gentlefolk, coming your way in January 2014 is ConFurgence: Egyptian Nights!
This name was suggested by quite a number of people. However, as promised- the prize of a LIFETIMES MEMBERSHIP will go to the FIRST person who made the suggestion:
That person is:
KEVIN from South Australia! (sorry mate, didn't have your fur name) (Don't worry, we email'd ya)
ROUND OF APPLAUSE TO KEVIN!
*wwwwoooooooooooottt*
Now, Kevin wasn't the only person to suggest the name ConFurgence, and even though we made it clear that the grand prize went to the first suggestor- and the first suggestor only- we didn't feel right letting the others go without *something* for their effort, especially since they, too, thought of the con's new name.
Congratulations guys, you've won yourselves a 50% REGO to the first ever ConFurgence in 2014! Yep. ConFurgence will pay for half of your registration!

Easy to remember!
...and speaking of remembering, let's think back to our wonderful charity for 2012, the DIngo Discovery Center.
You may remember the sad tale of the dingo pups who passed away during MiDFur 2012. It made our hearts heavy and spurred us on to raise even more money for the DIngo Discovery Center, especially their surviving little hero- Flash.
Well, in the spirit of this pup's will to survive, we've decided to make our NEW ConFurgence mascot a Dingo!

With the permission of the DIngo Discovery Center, we on the board unanimously agreed to name our new mascot after the little survivor himself, Flash!
Check out our photo's page for the first of many concept sketches and some pics of our buddy Flash!
So, it is with greatest joy and pleasure that we, the ConFurgence board, introduce you to YOUR con, name developed not only by one member of your community- but quite a few! ConFurgence came from South Australia, Sydney, Brisbane and even Perth! A name that suits our con perfectly!
The team looks forward to when we all converge on Melbourne in January 2014, for ConFurgence: Egyptian Nights! It's the same con, same spirit, awesome NEW NAME and plenty of awesome furries to share it with!

We have over 600+ entries in the Name Our Con competition! So much that we've decided to close entries early, meaning we're *that* much closer to knowing the name of our New con!

THAT WAS AN EPIC CON!!!
The closing ceremony brought us much to think about and become excited about!
First of all, we raised $13 400+ for the DIngo Discovery Center!
HOORAY!
Now the MidFur Convention has officially come to an end.
Yes...not just MiDFur 2012. MiDFur as a convention has ended. The convention known as MiDFur will be MiDFur no longer.
DON'T CRY YET, DEAR FURRIES!
You see, it's not *actually* over. It's just that we as the board feel that the name MiDFur belongs to the community- the people who moulded it, built it from what it was to an event with over 120 people squished into the Melbourne community. We came into this convention wanting to grow her from what she was, and grow she has! This year we had close to 450 people at MiDFur! The Biggest Furry Convention in the southern hemisphere!
And we WILL continue to be the biggest connvention in the southern hemisphere, for we will STILL be a convention! But we felt that it was time for us to give MiDFur back to the people who loved her most- the community who built her: the Melbourne Furries.
In one (two?) year, the MiDFur brand will be released. Being at A Very Furry Halloween this year really drove it home to us how valuable MiDFur was in it's former glory. Let's face it- MiDFur stands for "Melbourne In December" and we're moving to a January slot! Melbourne in December- MiDFur- needs to stay MiDFur. We can't wait to attend MiDFur as regular furs looking to hang out with awesome people, chill out at restaraunts, in parks and at bbqs. It'll be awesome.
But what of the convention? Well, there's still going to be a convention, don't you worry! The board that exists today continues to exist to provide you, the furry community of Australia, with the best anthropomorphic convention we can possibly give!
Soooo...what does this mean? Are now we going to "No-name con?"
Not exactly... I mean, it's up to you. On Monday we'll be opening up the NAME OUR CONVENTION competition!
Everyone will have the opportunity to submit name suggestions for the convention. More info on this to come, but start the thinking process now, friends, because get this, folks- the individual who submits the winning name will earn themselves a FREE LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP TO THE CON!!!!!
So next con brings loads of big, new things- new name (think hard, furries!) a new venue: The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and new ways to be the best, most spectacular con we've been for the past five years!

T-Shirt Delay!
Posted 13 years agoWOAH YOU GUYS, 3 Days to Go!
We're SO TOTALLY PUMPED as we transport the last of the supplies into the bunker, and we can't WAIT to see you guys on Tuesday!
Now, we do have some news about t-shirts. Our original t-shirt company have unfortunately been unable to fill the order. All is not lost, however, as we've found another company who have agreed to print them out for us on extremely short notice!
THANK THE MAYAN GODS!
Alas, this means that the shirts will not be arriving until Thursday of the convention. We apologise profusely for this (and we're sad because our shirts are in that order too) but considering that we've been able to get another company at such short notice, we're still pretty stoked (the alternative was have the shirts arrive the day *after* the con).
You'll still get your shirts! Just make sure you pack an extra one-especially if you were counting on wearing your con shirt the first 2 days :p
Also- if you paid for your shirt to be shipped, bring your invoice to MiDFur and the shipping payment will be refunded to you!

A friendly MiDFur reminder to all our end-time artists! This is your chance to be SEEN to be APPRECIATED and to MAKE SOME MONEYYYYYYY!!!
(In Apocalyptic terms- a chance to gather some much needed resources for use in Black Market- er- Dealer's Den trading)
If you would like to submit your artwork to the Art Show or Charity Auction, submissions will be accepted from 9:00am on Wednesday the 5th of December, which is when the Art Show officially opens.
Entrants are asked to have their art ready and presentable (laminated or framed) and to have their registration forms with them, filled in and ready to go!
Likewise, entries for the CHARITY AUCTION will be accepted from 9am, and can be checked in at the Artshow desk at anytime leading up to the Auction.
We're supporting a very good (and cute!) cause this year! So if you want to help MiDFur break a WORLD RECORD *and* save some cute lil Dingo pups, submit your work to the Charity Auction!

Yes, fur folk- It's only 28 Days to go until MiDFur 2012: Furry Apocalypse Cometh!
What a hectic few weeks for the team. The MiDFur board have been on a journey this year, creating and moulding the perfect apocalypse for all! With the leadership of our cherished Cyn Wolfe, and the support of all our MiDFur friends, we have carefully built, over the last 11 months- a BUNKERLOAD of amazing stuff coming your way!
Just last week we had our on-site board meeting, and boy- it really brought it home:
IT'S ALMOST HERE!! *running around like a psycho* THE END IS NIIGGHH!
*OK, just relax, it's not over yet!*
But...are you ready for it? Just in case you have some jitters, or are feeling a little dazed- here's a pre-con survival guide for you, to make the most of these pre-post-apocalyptic days:
Step 1: Assess the situation!
Are you planning on going to MiDFur? Well, have you registered? Uh-oh, you haven't? Well , that's ok- you can register for MiDFur at

We even have brand new pre-register day-passes and a 3-day pass for the Thurs-Sat, so you can customize your registration to fit your survival needs!
Step 2: Seek out shelter!
A lounge is no place to be stranded with no place to stay, particularly with ravenous, post-apocalypto furs about. While the Arrow is booked out, the Space Hotel have a number of rooms at standard prices still available, so check 'em out! There's also plenty of options in the Melbourne CBD to suit a variety of budgets! But get in quick, guys- or you WILL miss out!
Step 3: FOOOD AND SUPPLIES!
This year we are SO THRILLED to announce that The Arrow on Swanston are not only serving breakfast and lunch, but dinner too! No more wandering aimlessly in search of value, budget meal options just as dark befalls the wasteland!
Meals will start from $10 with some tasty tidbits for you to scavenge as well. Meals and alcohol* can only be paid for in cash, but there's an ATM next door!
We also have a Supplies Outpost in the way of a convenience store RIGHT NEXT DOOR (how convenient is that?) They've been preparing for our arrival come this end-time, so if you forget anything essential like deodorant or sugary snacks, they'll be more than happy to help you.
(*alcohol will be served onsite from 5:30pm onwards)
Step 4: Familiarise Yourself with Your Surroundings!

Not one to miss, because if anyone knows how to survive a furry apocalypse, it has to be him. Be at the Furry Hall of Fame induction, or any one of our amazing Guest of Honour panels.

How will YOU clothe yourself in the apocalypse? This year the con lasts 5 Days, so prepare well. Luckily, MiDFur is happy to support your clothing needs- check out :

Likewise DANCING is a form of warming up on cold, ice age nights (or days). The Dance Fracas is run by the fursuit team, and open to all (fursuit or not!). Stay tuned for more info on this shortly.

MiDFur is pleased to announce that starting immediately, Day-Passes and 3-Day Passes are now available for pre-purchase on the MiDFur website!
Many of you have contacted us in regards to the possibility of pre-purchaseable day-passes, so that's what we're doing.
These passes are perfect for the furs who want to check MiDFur out, but not able to commit to a full 5 days. Or maybe you're interested in making a few purchases in the dealers den, but only have a limited amount of time to head in.
Well, save time, now you can pre-buy your day pass!
For $35 you can enter the convention space for a whole day, with access to all areas!
Bargaaaaiiiin!
Likewise, perhaps commitments mean you can only spare the final days. We heard your call. Now you can buy a 3-day Pass for $85!
Please note that the pre-purchase prices are only applicable until the 4th of December, at which point the prices will rise by $5 for on-the-day ticket purchases.

These passes are perfect for the furs who want to check MiDFur out, but not able to commit to a full 5 days. Or maybe you're interested in making a few purchases in the dealers den, but only have a limited amount of time to head in.

The brand new Melbourne event kicks off Friday NEXT WEEK-7:30pm at the stunning Sofia's Restaruant, in Camberwell.
(587 Burke Rd Camberwell, just a short, 170m walk from Camberwell Railway Station)
What better way to start the Halloween festivities than with a delicious dinner party?

This event is a dinner banquet to be remembered. An evening of laughter, glee, good food and great company!
Saturday is EVEN BETTER: The morning begins at a lazy 11:00am with a classic of Melbourne fur culture: The Coffee Meet. Join our experienced guides as they show you the secrets to finding the best java in the Melbourne CBD.
But beware....for night brings THRILLS and CHILLS of blood-curdling proportions!
The FIRST EVER Furry Halloween Dance Party!
Come dressed in your scariest, cutest or- as yourself D: (sometimes reality is more frightening than fiction :p )
The event is licensed, but all ages welcome (check website for conditions). The Bar opens at 8pm and runs all the way till **1am the next morning!
Sunday takes it back to a Melbourne staple!
To tie the weekend off in a furlightful fashion, we'll all be gathering in the Melbourne Central Upper Food court for a totally fun and totally free Artjam and Casual get-together from 11:00am onwards.
Can't wait to see you all scare!
