Please watch my new account!
Posted 10 years agoAs a result of an identity crisis, I am no longer going by Midi. Instead, Midi is his own self-contained character, since the way he's changed as I've developed him makes me feel like he's just not me anymore, and playing as him feels kind of wrong. So, I've created a new character to represent me. Please see my new self at
kelvinshadewing. Thank you!

Posted 10 years agoWHAT AM I SPRITING FOOOOOOOOOOOR?!
Posted 10 years ago*sigh* I'm having spriter's block again... and coder's block... and I haven't even touched that Blender book I bought. Seems my creative juices have all dried up yet again. This is the worst time for it to happen, too; I've got several requests left to finish. SOMEONE MOTIVATE ME!
Why is everyone celebrating new year?
Posted 10 years agoIs it because we completed another lap around the sun? Cuz last time I checked, it was the planet who did all the running; we just stuck to it for the ride.
DO NOT PLAY CUBE WORLD!
Posted 10 years agoThe game is riddled with adware! Don't install it unless you enjoy having a fucked up browser!
KL to go open IP
Posted 10 years agoJust a crazy idea I had, so crazy that I couldn't resist doing it! As soon as the first Kyrodian Legends game is completed, I'm making the series go open IP. This means that, while I still technically own the game, people will be able to make their own fangames or use my characters in cameos without risk of legal action. Furthermore, footage from the game may be used for any purpose, be it let's play, review, editorials, etc., so Youtubers are welcome to have at it, as well. I just figured it'd be a nice thing to do, and it's not like I'm expecting a ton of fan games or anything like that, anyway, but I figure announcing this early would give people peace of mind in the future.
That's all.
That's all.
An interesting Sega ROM hack
Posted 10 years agohttp://info.sonicretro.org/Sonic_2_XL
Even if you're not into fat furs, this game still presents a very interesting and challenging mechanic: onion rings. That's right, onion rings. All the gold rings in Sonic's world have been replaced with these oily snacks, and eating them works just the same as collecting a gold ring, but you also gain weight with each one you grab! So you have to balance your collection with exercise, and keep your weight just right so you can still run. Burning weight doesn't actually cost you rings, so you can still keep a high score, but not running them off will slow you to a halt, eventually immobilizing and killing Sonic.
The game is a very fun and fresh twist on the classic game we've all played to death, and I find it very unique and creative. Interesting mechanics like this are what I look for in mods and hacks, and this game does not disappoint. If you have a Sega emulator (or, God forbid, a Game Gadget), I highly recommend giving this game a try.

Free still images! [FULL]
Posted 11 years agoBecause I need more practice before I reopen for commissions, I'm going to let everyone get one free single-frame sprite. Your sprite can be in any pose, and can be done to scale or not to scale. By "to scale", I mean your character's height will determine how big the sprite will be in comparison to my own characters, and if not to scale, then the sprite will be around the size of a Pokemon DS battle sprite.

Soooooo, I had a crazy idea...
Posted 11 years agoSuper Smash Bros, Skylanders, and Disney Infinity all use trophies that can level up, and all are readable directly on the Wii-U gamepad. So what is stopping anyone from making Smashlanders Infinity? Eh? EH?!
Calling all pixel artists!
Posted 11 years agoI couldn't find a group for pixel artists, so I made one.

Money emergency. Please help!
Posted 11 years agoMy friend has only 22$ to last him the next two weeks. If anyone could help, that would be wonderful. Here's the link to his journal: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6273258/
Now before anyone asks, this wasn't even his idea; I convinced him to ask for help.

Assumption Meme
Posted 11 years agoWrite a comment with an assumption you have about me and I'll let you know if it's true or not! I've always been curious how people see me, especially those I don't talk to often but who have followed me for awhile.
Need help from someone with networking experience.
Posted 11 years agoEvery time I connect to a wireless network, I get an error saying my wifi adapter doesn't have a correct IP configuration. I've tried setting it manually to some IPs people have told me to use, I've tried reseting it, and even reset my computer, but nothing works. As of now, it's back on auto mode. Does anyone have any ideas?
The Seven Tennants of a Perfect Action Platformer
Posted 11 years agoMy seven rules for a perfect action platformer.
1: Tight controls. No slipping or immediate loss of momentum or long stun periods, and especially no having to wait through a character's animations before the action you called is performed.
2: Readable environments. A player should never be able to lose themselves behind a foreground piece, and elevation should be immediately recognizable.
3: Reward exploration and achievment, not patience. Grinding for upgrades is a cheap way to increase play time, and does not feel as rewarding as discovery or victory through skill.
4: Enemies should require thought to defeat. If a single technique (that is method of attack, not the attack itself) can effect everyone, then that's all a player will use, and play will become repetative.
5: At least three ways to attack, but not too many. Three gives enough variety to a player without overwhelming them.
6: Backtracking, if available, should be rewarding, especially in games where this is a requirement.
7: Teach new concepts in as few words as possible (and for Myamoto's sake, don't repeat item-get messages or hold them for seven seconds. I'm looking at you, Super Metroid).
The only game I've ever found to follow all these rules in Spyro: the Eternal Night on GBA. It's a fantastic game as well as a gorgeous piece of eye candy if you're a pixel enthusiast.

Feeling discouraged.
Posted 11 years agoSo, I got some friends a while back and asked them if they'd be willing to help me with my game. They liked the idea, and joined the forum I made for us. I posted my plans, and... no one replied. Ever.
I posted my plans on VGR, in hopes someone there would join me. No replies.
So either people expect me to make this game on my own, or they just don't care, and either way, it bothers me. The former because I can't do it, and the latter because it makes it all seem pointless.
My friends will occasionally give me encouragement, but rarely any meaningful feedback, with the exception of two people.
Yet, when I write fanfiction, everyone who watches me there on my Fimfiction account are like "This is so great! I want more!" If I mention anything about my own characters or original work, they only respond if it's about them going to Equestria, so they're no help.
I don't want to write fan fiction; I want to make games, but there are some things I can't do myself. No one wants to help me, so it seems the only games I'll ever be able to make are fan games. That really depresses me.
I'm sorry for moping and whining. I know people care about me; I just don't think they care about what I want to do.
I guess I'll just focus on XYG. That's a project that only needs a programmer, something I can do. At least then, I'll have accomplished something.
PS: I can't use Skype or Yahoo at work because Skype doesn't support Linux ARM and Yahoo changed their protocol again, so I can only be reached on AIM, MSN or at the end of the day on Steam. Texting is not an option for me right now, either.

F5 and commission question.
Posted 11 years agoSo, new avatar. On that note, what would you guys be willing to pay for one like it?
Pandora's back!
Posted 11 years agoNow I can do productive things while it's slow at work, like study, download stuff, and spend my breaks practicing code when my brain isn't burned out from work. Hopefully, I can get back on track and finally finish some programs.
Looking for 3D artist.
Posted 11 years agoYeah, I thought I could just learn to model myself, but it's harder than I thought. If I were to seriously persue it, I wouldn't have time for coding. So, I'm looking for someone who can do TF2-style models and can do both bipeds and quadrupeds. Being able to rig and animate for Source Engine is desirable, but not necessary. If you or someone you know fits the bill, please let me know.
Seeking... unusual art. (WILL PAY)
Posted 11 years agoI can't believe I'm asking for this, but I need someone to draw a bust of Midi that looks like the "so handsome" Squidward face. It only needs to be a sketch, but not too sketchy; you know, cleaned-up lines and whatnot. I'm willing to pay for this with money. Don't ask why, just someone do it.
iPad Air is soooo great for art! <3<3<3<3
Posted 11 years agoYeah, so is a sheet paper, but that can be replaced for 1/10000 the cost.
I think I'm not a brony anymore.
Posted 11 years agoFurries vs. Bronies
Posted 11 years agoWhat the flying fuck, people? Seriously, both fandoms are completely the same with the only difference being one focuses on a single franchise while the other encompasses a much broader spectrum. Both of you draw/write/sing about talking animals and mythical creatures, both cosplay and trade art at conventions, both have faced hatred and persecution from the internet and mainstream media, so why the hell do you guys bash each other? I've even seen them call each other sick fucks for drawing porn. Guess what? BOTH OF YOU DO THAT! And all while both are preaching love and tolerance. Anyone who bashes the other side in this is a fucking hypocrite, and neither side needs them.
