The best kind of comments.
Posted 15 years agoComments on submissions are awesome but there's a special kind that makes me feel especially warm and fuzzy inside.
Re-Comments: When someone comes back to a picture, months or even years later, and comments AGAIN about how much they still enjoy it.
If you find yourself returning to view a submission over and over again I think you should let the artist know, even if you've already said it once before :3

Save Movies and Music: Pirate Them!

Hollywood and the RIAA are notorious for playing financial games and avoiding paying artists. They can get away with this because they control the distribution channels. However the internet and file sharing are major threats, not because they allow easy piracy but because they circumvent the distribution controls.
Don't buy into the idea that pirating hurts the artists. The producers are the ones doing the hurting and the best way to help artists is by helping destroy the strangle hold the major players have on distribution.
Keep in mind that pirating from indie/ ethical groups is counter productive to helping artists, but pirating from the mainstream groups can actually help free artists in the long run.

Anyone have any 3d models I could animate?

Made an Inkbunny account!
Posted 15 years agoI'm slow.
However I'll be using it solely for digital purchases and prints of images that are available here.
The first digital purchase I'm considering is the uncensored version of this flash animation:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/908346/
It's got quite a bit more to it and features things that people asked for in the original.
I'll be setting that up once my new power supply comes in and I have access to my files; and if inkbunny actually allows swf/exe downloads :P

My computer no longer starts up T_T
Posted 15 years agoI have a feeling my power supply has failed. I've had to swap outlets just to get it to start these last weeks and now it's finally given out.
Just seems like it can't draw enough juice or something.
I was planning on upgrading this summer and now it appears I have to hurry it along.

I suspect I have low blood sugar :O
Posted 15 years agoDid a bit of online checking and found the symptoms. They're consistent with what I've got going, not just that so too are the causes. To make matters worse I perform tasks that tax my blood sugar a great deal all day.
In general my productivity is terrible, my motivation is near non existent, my brain is lazy and I've experienced periods where none of those things are true.
So my goal is to fix this issue with radical shifts in my diet. I don't think I have any physiological problems causing this since it's pretty mild compared to what it could be.
I'll probably get this checked out by a doctor in the near future too, despite my tendency to nearly faint around them. Which is probably also related to low blood sugar X3
This could result in a rather massive change in my life if my hunch is accurate.
Anyone have any experience dealing with hypoglycemia and any dietary tips?
In the meantime I'm increasing my fruit intake substantially and adding potatoes to my regular diet. I can manage bouts of afternoon fatigue with strategic cookie consumption :P

Digital Sketch Pack Interest?
Posted 15 years agoWould anyone be interested if I were to offer digital downloads of scanned sketches?
I'm thinking 25 pictures for $5
I have quite a few unposted sketches and various themes that I haven't even shown here. Some would be much more risque than what you're used to in my gallery.
They'd also be divided by subject matter so you wouldn't get stuff you don't like.

My one test of faith.
Posted 15 years agoI read too much controversial stuff. However I wanted to mention something that I think everyone should consider.
In order to test the validity of a belief system there is a very simple test.
If you were to rely solely on your own observations would you come to the same conclusions as those presented by the belief if the belief was not presented to you?
It's a very simple test and if your beliefs can't pass it then you should seriously re evaluate them. If you cannot learn what you believe solely through observation with your given senses then you should probably not believe it.
Now if you rely on your observations to form your belief system you do run the risk of coming to the wrong conclusions anyway. However if you've approached your beliefs from that direction then you can continue in that direction and learn something that forces you to re-evaluate your conclusion.
This is also why I find the concept of "science vs religion" inherently stupid. A more apt form would be "observation vs stuff I made up".

New Gay Stereotype (Comic I Found)
Posted 15 years agoLaw: A perspective.
Posted 15 years agoI was thinking about the nature of law and I came to theorize that it is merely a tool by which me manage and regulate the use of violence.
The most primitive and original law can be summed up thus: "Do what I say or I'll smack you."
It is only through the threat of violence that law has any power. Those that are capable of expressing the most violence are those that dictate law. This has been a universal truth since the dawn of humanity.
We might like to think that it's fundamentally a social agreement, and to an extent it is. However due to their fundamental nature laws will always favor the strongest.
If you've not realized, there are few if any substantial changes that can be enacted through legal means. Only through violence can change be accomplished and only then when it is directed at those that wield/direct the greater violent power in the enforcement of law.
A demonstration has no power, a petition has no power, a protest has no power. These actions are bound by law and therefore held in check through unequal force.
As we've seen before. 500 million people demonstrating have less power to enact change than a well placed explosion.
Edit: Bencoon brought up a good point. The way to get effective and lasting change is not through violent actions, but by the capacity to resist them. If you don not fear the threat then it has no power over you and the laws that restrain it are moot. Of course the degree is directly proportional to how important what you are standing for is.

Marijuana Decriminilization...
Posted 15 years agoDon't expect it to happen any time soon.
I'm sure you've all heard the arguments why it's a good idea: just tax and regulate it. And you've heard reasons why it shouldn't be done: marijuana turns you into satan. However what has not been often considered is the fact that taxation and regulation of marijuana is absolutely impossible. Marijuana is a weed, a weed that can grow in an enormous environmental range and with minimal tending. Essentially marijuana is a free, very useful and very valuable resource, that can be produced in extremely large quantities. Essentially nobody would have any reason to ever buy any of it, save for more exotic varieties. Alcohol on the other hand takes considerable effort to produce in large amounts and requires specialized equipment to make safely. Hence alcohol is easy to regulate, just like tobacco.
Hard drugs on the other hand, since they require specialized equipment, are already regulated and produced by the pharmaceutical industry.
I think you can understand why most governments don't want marijuana to be legal.

Meaning?
Posted 15 years agoAnother interesting realization: Free will is inherently impossible if the universe having purpose. You might say that we have a million paths but ultimately if there is a purpose then there's only 1 outcome. However for free will to be true that would rely on the universe having no great purpose, which would imply that any purpose derived from existence is of our own design.
It's not a depressing thought to think of everything being devoid of meaning, in the right perspective it's a beautiful and liberating concept.

A revelation! Peeling back another layer of the matrix.
Posted 15 years agoNo not the movie you fool! The imaginary social construct and interpretation of our world. I was listening to a book on tape about the "hero story" and an interesting point was explored. The common christian/muslim/jewish belief is that the world is divided into good and evil, and this belief fundamentally alters how we live and interpret the world. Good is defined as anything that obeys the worshipped deity's orders while evil is everything else. Thus the world is divided by beliefs, which are good, and the natural world which is evil. Thus people seek to deny themselves their natural impulses and thoughts under the interpretation that these are evil and wrong. Just look in your own lives how this has impacted the world. Why else would sex be considered evil?
However we have on this world of ours entire societies that are not based on this belief system but instead on the idea that good and evil are merely interpretations of the natural world and that both are necessary for existence. Taoism, buddhism and hinduism all share this world view.
I realized after hearing that that I myself had been constrained mentally in my interpretation of the world using the concept of good/evil, when I know logically that those don't exist :o

Ooh ooh a meme! Me too! That style meme!
Posted 15 years agoWhat do you, as the audience, think that my art style says about me personally?
What do you, as the audience, think that my art style says about me physically & does it imply a gender?
What type of feeling do you get from it, and what kind of feeling does that give you about me?
(These next two questions assume you actually know me. Only a few people on these boards do. So you may skip these last two.)
Do you think it describes my personality well?
If not, what do you think would reflect it better?
These questions are relevant to my interests, I also added an extra one.

A Tip on Getting Along With People
Posted 15 years agohttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fundam.....ribution_error
FAE describes the tendency to over-value dispositional or personality-based explanations for the observed behaviors of others while under-valuing situational explanations for those behaviors.
In other words, never assume the worst of someone if you don't fully understand their situation.

Some Religious Study: The Essene
Posted 15 years agohttp://reluctant-messenger.com/essene/index.html
My brother asked me to download this book and I decided to start reading it. It's attributed to Jesus' teachings and is written by the people that had the dead sea scrolls, so it's likely authentic.
There's some very neat stuff in there. I haven't gotten very far though, just up to where jesus is explaining how to live a healthy life (also ancient enemas).
You can read a blurb about the Essenes on this site or more detail elsewhere, and you can read the whole book there too. It's only 30 pages.

A Thing About Humans
Posted 15 years agohttp://www.boston.com/news/science/.....robes_and_men/
Think about it, 90% of the cells in our bodies are non-human. However it should be kept in mind that we are not 90% non human by mass or volume. I know this data has actually been measured but can't find it, the percentage is surprisingly high though.
But even then, it's interesting to think that we are composed of trillions of interdependent, but individual, organisms. We are not a singular life form, but instead a massive colony of many smaller ones.
Yet in this potential chaos we are somehow unified as a "being".

Sometimes I feel like my art...
Posted 16 years ago.. is a dirty little secret.
Some of my stuff is fast approaching 10,000 views, but the favs and comments don't get anywhere near the anticipated numbers. Either some people just like looking over my stranger arts repeatedly (understandable with flash) or lots more people like my subject matter than are willing to admit publicly.
I'm pretty sure its a mix of both, but I wonder how much of a mix it is.
Rough estimates put anticipated favs for popular art at about 7%-10% in relation to page views.
However when it comes to diapers that ratio drops to 3%-7%.
I don't have a real goal to this journal, just felt like pointing out something I've noticed and suspected.
