Thoughts: Discord//Commissions
Posted 8 years agoI've been taking requests on Discord to practice more and more instead of just burning myself out on animating. The topic, among the request, of charging has come up a few times. While I have all the tools I need to setup a commission sheet and take on commissions I'm still having trouble thinking of acceptable prices. At one hand, I'm small and for now only doing sketches/clean-up/shading, so low-balling my prices to at most be $5 seems reasonable to me. Then again, I don't want to de-value myself or undercut the pricing of friends. I guess I'll just have to ask around and gather some more data.
Also Discord. I'm usually not so willing to jump into the latest things so much, but I really enjoy it. Saving memes and doing sketches, who could ask for more?

Christmas Card Rush Challenge
Posted 12 years agoLast year I made quick digital Christmas cards for my family and many of my friends (mostly because I couldn't get them real gifts). I started making them Thanksgiving and got them all sent the day before Christmas totaling in 28 cards. I personalized each one as I could, sometimes running out of ideas and making them more generalized than I would have liked. That being said, if any would like a Christmas card for free let me know (limit one per person).
Cut off date is Thanksgiving (28th)

GAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
Posted 15 years ago...I don't want to pick a fight...I just....if my nose suddenly bleeds because a blood vessel in my brain popped I won't be surprised. All you need to know is that I just went to explore the would of internet drama. Convinced myself that it would be a worth while learning experience. Wasn't.
Well, not true, I learned to stay relatively humble ESPECIALLY on the web. I've seen that an ego, if one lets it get too fueled by the web, can become an instrument of ones own destruction. That, however, can be said of life in RL as well.
also a disclaimer: if any of this sounds like I might be ambiguously talking about you in any way, I'm not. This is more of a warning, and a reminder to myself.
Cherish what you receive, but don't let it blindly guide you.

Because I feel like posting just about any thing: The Box
Posted 15 years agoThe Box in orbit would never be complete without the proper use paper to glide, rockets to break through the atmosphere, and a doll house made entirely out of beef jerky and sprikles to confuse any aliens who may pass by on the notion that we might be a planet of sane creatures.
More
Posted 15 years agothinking I should post more things. I'm picky enough about what I show...sometimes not finishing others. Maybe to get more in here I could just rename incomplete works as "experimental". Then I can post a work of nothing but a paint bucket black image and call it "Live in Vivid Color"... I wouldn't do that though. That would be stupid and pretentious.and I am only one of those things.
Dear Citizenry
Posted 16 years agoI hate filing. HATE.
that is all. goodnight.
no that's not all. sorry for my lack of upkeep in work and in journals (although I'll never make a habit out of journals the way people make a habit out of breathing). and I suppose my statement needs some sort of context. unless you have/had a filing or some sort of intern desk job that mainly compressed of filing, in which you know the headache.
I have just that, an intern (and short term) summer job behind a desk. I signed up to move furniture, they put me in an office. whateverthehell.so for the past few days i've been given filing work, reading/skimming papers, most with acronyms i don't get, and organizing them. I signed up to move furniture. sometimes i spend time reading Dilbert books between headache sessions, and other times i shred papers (which is a lot funner with the industrial-sized shredder they got). I predict thats how most of the time i'm there will go. ugh. i wanted to moved heavy objects on/off a truck to/from a house or too. agh.

About Valentines Day
Posted 16 years agoOn the 14 my friend texted me:
Happy Valentines Day!
Me response:
Go to hell.
my rationale for this is simple, and not too unlike x-mas, I shall not celebrate a holiday for lovers until I have meself a girlfriend. That away, instead of being miserable and alone on the day, I shall be miserable and taken, which is the way it was meant to be.
>>+<<
Now the history behind the patron saint according to the history channel site found on these here interwebs.
Old legend 1) the emperor of rome, Claudius II, decided that single men made better soldiers, so he outlawed marriage to have more soldiers. Valentine seeing the injustice in the act, continued to marry people in secret. When he was found out, he was executed.
Old legend 2)...its less entertaining than the first one.
Old legend 3) Well it says that he had sent the first valentine while he was in jail and awaiting his execution. Seems he fell in love with the with a young woman, who may have been the jailer's daughter. Anyway, apparently before the day of his execution he wrote her a letter and signed it 'your valentine'. So that's where that comes from.
Of course non of this is really proven, but think, we celebrate a dead guy that broke the law. wooo.

Consumer Whoring
Posted 16 years agoWell, besides a hair cut, I picked up 3 movies from the consumer palace known as Wal-mart. And being fickle, I choose them from the $5 rack. Now you might say "MiG, you blubbering moron of minute mentality, why would you shoot yourself in the head like that?"
To which I reply "Well I didn't get them from the $3 rack, so its not like I'm shooting myself with a full automatic weapon, my dear charge."
So here are the 'horrible' decisions I've made today, and whether or not I believe they are worth it:
Mortal Kombat: Annihilation
- I knew I saw it once in theaters, but I didn't remember it too well, now I know for a fact that my mind was only trying to protect me.
The Secret of Nimh:
- I don't think I've ever seen it really, and if playing Russian roulette only cost a little more than $5, then what's the harm?
Robin Hood: Men in Tights
- This is worth it. I really don't care for a second opinion on the matter, Mortal Kombat? Sure, Robin Hood: Men in Tights? Fuck you. This is worth it, and possibly the only one of the 3 I won't regret. (I'm watching The Secret of Nimh now.)

Arkham Asylum; and other news
Posted 17 years agoArkham Asylum was, interesting. Interesting story, interesting artwork, an elegant decent into the madness that is Arkham. I'm not sure I'd recommend it just yet. If your interested in it, I'd suggest you google it before any action toward a copy.
What I'd recommended:
- Red Son
- Kingdom Come (partially because I really like Alex Ross's work)
Other News:
I missed the inauguration, I had to work from 11 to 4. However, I have already made an effort to remedy this by downloading (from iTunes for free) his speech. Funny thing though, I work in one of those food places inside of the k-mart/walmart deals, and when I got there they were showing it, but about 15 mins. later they switched programming to their normal, 'buy our stuff' -o-vision.
still accepting any commissions for free.

Free Artinings
Posted 17 years agoIf anyone is interested I'm willing to do some free work. The first 3 people who send me a line, with a description of what they want will get it.
On another side, I just got myself a copy of Arkham Asylum. The art looks great, and I'm hoping it'll be a good read.

Absolute Sandman Volume 1
Posted 17 years agoWas a bit skeptic about it, but my friend forced me to borrow his. I have to admit its something pretty awesome, I'm actually excited about borrowing volume 2. I'd recommend it, and since I have nothing really ball-blazing to put into a journal. you should take a look at it if your into comics, or buy it if made of money.
