Gosh what a year haha!

I've been posting mostly to twitter and instagram up until now, so to help keep up a good flow across all my accounts I've just set up some schedualing. There may be a bit of an art dump over the next few days but then I'm hoping to have a bi-weekly to weekly posts on the go!
2019 was the year that re-kindled my love of painting and drawing, my confidence has grown and I feel much happier in general with what I've been making.
Now 2020 has come along and things are a bit skew wiff for everyone. We just need to keep our heads above water where we can.

Planning the year - conventions and life things.

2 weddings to attend this year, one of which is that of great friends and the other my little brother. :D
Convention list so far are : Newcastle comic con, Sunnycon and Confuzzled, Excited for them all! May add some more to the list later in the year but money saving need to happen this year.
Hoping to attend Veil this year for live action role play goodness, have been playing pathfinder to get my head around the roleplay side of it, think things have actually clicked a bit so not feeling so stupid in the sessions. Tiny halfling wyzord, fear my folding chair!
Will be bringing home a cat some time after June. Hoping Muddy will come with me to help choose our future fluffball from one of the local shelters.
Found my grail doll! T_T She is a cute anthro cat lady and she does not have a derpy face. She will be mine!!!!!
Goals for the year are:
-practice drawing hands!!!!
-take my sewing machine to a professional to get fixed.

Posted 11 years agoSoooooo. Bit of a life update and general spooge of brain meats. May as well use this as a proper journal.
Been a bit up and down the past few months.
Entered the Sven suit I made in with the Anna coronation dress Mirania and I made from Disney's Frozen into a competitive cosplay competition. We won third place and £250 between the two of us. I am surprised we even placed as the competition was stiff.
The guy who won first place had made a big mech suit that looked awesome and took two and an half years to build. He won £1,000. Cushty eh?
Split about two months ago from my lad of four and a half years. He wasn't putting in the effort and after having sat down more than 4 times in the span of 3 months to talk it over decided to end it and turfed him out. Don't regret that decision and finally feel more like myself again.
An aunt on my dad's side passed away. Never seen a cathedral so full in my life, just goes to show how many people she touched. She was always a kind outgoing lady.
Never seen so many friends as I have in the past few months. Funny how people really come though when you need them and you make the effort to reach out. It is also nice to see them and not feel guilty like I am doing something wrong. Boo for emotional blackmail eh?
Dog sat up in Fife for a week. Was very therapeutic as my folks live right on the beach and seals would sing in the mornings. Gorgeous! x
Have started seeing someone who is willing to work with me and meet me half way. Have always gotten on well with him. Hopefully not going to scare him off. haha!
I set off for a 12 day trip across Europe starting Tuesday. I am beginning to get super nervous and excited. Berlin, Vienna, Prague and Rome are the stops. Will be an amazing holiday.
Have been comfort eating and generally being lazy to the point I've had to go buy a bigger size in clothing. None of my jeans fit! I'm going back to moderating my food and doing more exercise. Boring stuff but I have been feeling more uncomfortable with my body recently. But expecting Europe to be all Man V Food so will start that when I'm back. Officially becoming Garfield.
I am currently living alone which sucks. Really find it hard to function when I don't have someone to talk to/bounce ideas off/pester. Also not a fan of making meals for one and think this is part of why I am eating so much. Should really freeze some more stuff but am too greedy for that. Been out loads but the past few weeks have tried to save money by stopping at home.
Been debating the pros and cons of becoming a brunette. Have been blond for over 7 years with varying bouts of crazy colour. Possibly time for a change and could save me £30-40 every month or so if I used box dye. Natural colour is dirty blond which is too drab for my skin tone.
Have a rough idea of what I want for my first tattoo. Hamster feet in white ink with some water colour splodges around them. Am hopefully going to have it mapped out and done before the year is out after doing some research into white ink. Going to be at the top of my right thigh.
Have a few piercings planned for when I get back from Europe. Have finally talked myself out of getting my nipples done and probably from getting my nose done. I do want a few at the top of each ear. Been thinking of it for years but always put it on the back burner.
If you have read this far you have done really well. I get bored half way through stuff like this.

They all have cute names and packaging and from the look of the ingredients list will smell good enough to eat! (but don't do that or you'll end up with fake rabies and a bad tummy not that you shouldn't already know that!)

ALSO STRIPE THE HAMSTER IS THE MOST ADORABU THING EVAAAAA

Photos of the finished suits will ensure come the 24th May... (If you catch my drift!)
Eep! Confuzzled is so soon! these suits have had so much work put into rthem it's almost not even mildly hillarious (okay, it's quite funny! we be lazy kitties!)
But I guess all the work's paid off! those of you whoi follow me and thegarnet on twitter may have already seen a bunch of progress photos, but I think for now we'll just wait until after CF to actually post full pics online! (makes it a WEE bit more of a surprise that way, ey?)
Just have the rest of Garnet's body to stitch together, a little bit of machine sewing with Opal, sew the ends of the tails and make handpaws... it's been quite a productive weekend!

Posted 13 years agoSooo I had to use two different brands of plaster of paris and they did not like each other so they had a fight. The first layer barely covered the pads and the second layer refused to set. When I put the preliminary latex in to take off any powder plaster, the bottom of the first layer ripped out. Oops! So I'm gonna have s second go when I have time.

Posted 14 years agoSo I've pregressed wioth KJev's cookie monster suit and have now run out of blue fuzz. How typical.
Aparently 10meters was not enough. *shakes her fist at ther obcenely tall brother*
Good night's progress with Toshi and Jess chillin watching anime and finishing Toshi's arms. His suit is lookin good so far!
ANd Cookie monster is now well on the way. Thank god! May actually get on with some of my personal projects after this!
Like the skirts and the bloomers and the pantaloons and the paws I bought material to make and never got around to. No joke. I have like aroubnf £300-400 worht of materials kicking aroubnd my house that I've been too bust to even concider! T_T
So end of rant, back to cutting paterns adn fabric. Woo!
And yes, I know I've made spelling errors. So phhhht!

I WILL be using the new lilac fur I've just bought to make a new cat suit as soon as I get it starting with a new tail.
I WILL learn how to draw properly by researching by reference so I can submit art I think is worthy of submission.
I WILL be making a few sets of paws to sell.
Those are my goals for the remainder of this year.
