October 2025 Check-in
Posted 4 days agoHeya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Projects & Plans —
Happy Halloween!
I haven’t been working on much lately because of the move. I mostly used this past month to spend time with people I knew I wouldn’t see again for a long time. I got started on the next animation a little bit, and I got the sketch for one animated loop done. After I’m settled in to the new place, that will be the first or second big project I start work on - the other one will be working on more pages for Down in the Dungeon.
I did get some good writing work done on the PMB comic! I’ve begun to divide the story in chapters, so that the story is easier to manage. Each chapter serves basic purposes, like showing that a character likes something or struggles with something.
— Ideas —
After I move, I’m probably going to spend time practicing to get my skills back up to par before I work on larger projects. I really want to practice drawing hands, because it’s been a while, and I think that’s an area I could use improvement with. I might draw some busts of my characters while I’m practicing those.
I plan to make a Halloween pic with my main four characters together - Mila, Lantha, Milo, and Buttons. I haven’t had the time to do that lately. That will be a nice mini project to help get me going after I move.
So I think my plan after moving is: Practice drawing hands, doodle some busts, make my Halloween pic for this year, then work on Down in the Dungeon and the next animation.
I might also look at taking commissions before the end of the year.
— General Updates —
I’ll be moving on November 3rd. Hopefully I will be settled in enough to start drawing again by the 5th. I also look forward to checking back in with people, because I’ve been unable to keep up with everyone online for the past couple of months.
I cleared everything out of that storage unit and closed the account. I’ve downsized the amount of stuff I’m keeping by a lot. I had so many big things taking up so much space that I didn’t need. At this point, the last things for me to do before I move are to sort through some leftover paperwork and figure out where to put the stuff I can’t bring with me on my first trip.

September 2025 Check-in

I think work on the DITD comic will resume in November; I should be moved in to my new place and settled by then. It will give me something concrete and familiar to help me get back into my normal art flow again.
The Milachu libre animation is out now and I love the reception it's gotten! I've already begun the writing process for my next animation. I would have started on it already, but I've been moving. My goal for October is to finish another animation with sound effects and dialogue like the libre animation.
PMB is still not moving, especially because I've been in the process of moving lately. Maybe during October, I can make more writing sessions happen!
Also, the partnership comic I mentioned last time has been released - the Lovense comic featuring Buttons using 2 of their newer products. I'm more proud of this partnership comic than the last one, because I figured out a way to meet their requests to have the characters say and do certain things (like saying the products' names) without the dialogue sounding unnatural.
— Ideas —
My supporters voted, and it looks like I'll be animating Milo and Lantha before Mila in the club. I was kinda hoping to animate this one first, actually. :3
Additional ideas for me to animate are: 1) Anthro Mila, using some old animated loops, which I can put together into a larger animation; and 2) Milachu Libre but winning her match.
— General Updates —
The move is more or less done! A lot of my stuff is in a storage unit to make it easier to go through. I plan to get rid of most of my things so I can travel lightly. For now, I'll be slowly going through all that while I work on just the one animated project of Milo and Lantha.
Not much else to report on. Just been a lot of moving lately. I'm eager to get back to drawing again~

August 2025 Check-in

- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on

— Projects & Plans —
Haven't started on the next batch of pages for DITD yet, because I plan to shift focus for a little bit to other projects. I'm also going to have less time than usual to work on art coming up soon (more on that in the general updates section).
I finished coloring all the loops for the upcoming Milachu Libre animation, and I'm now in the process of putting them together and adding sound in my video editor. This project has taken me since the middle of last month to make, so by the time this project is done, it will have taken me a little over a month. I don't plan for all animations to take this long. Ideally, they would only take me 3 weeks or so to finish, which would mean 2 weeks to make a couple of loops, and then 1 week to edit them together in a video editor. I could see doing larger projects like this one as well, as long as I know what I'm getting into. Like, this project is more of a 2-month thing. At least now I have a better idea of how long something like this takes to make.
I planned another writing session for PMB with my friend but it kept getting put off. I need to plan for another writing session soon before it gets lost. I'll try to throw out Wednesday or Sunday as a regular writing day and hope he's down.
I'll be doing another partnership comic with a certain toy maker really soon. It's in the first rough draft phase, and it will likely be out before the next check-in journal.
— Ideas —
I think I'll throw up the vote between animating an old Mila image set or the Lantha/Milo image set, mostly because I'm curious which of those people liked more.
Actually, instead of only getting one, I will probably animate both, but let the vote decide which one I do first, because I really wanna do both.
The two image sets are the one of mouse Mila at the club getting drunk and getting sloppy with guys, and the set of Milo asking Lantha to give him some action after his hookup flakes on him.
— General Updates —
I'll be moving soon. I might have mentioned that I moved last year, and I already did that, but this one is different. I'll be moving too far to easily bring all my stuff with me, so I'm about to be spending a lot of time selling things, putting things in storage, and cutting down on my belongings in general so that traveling around will be generally easier. I'll probably be starting my new big moving adventure after I finish this Milachu Libre animation and the partnership comic.
I'll have less time for the things I usually do, but only for a limited time period, probably from the start of September to the middle of November. I'll probably cut down on the number of projects I'm working on at set lower expectations during that period - maybe just focus on the next animation project and let that be all.

July 2025 Check-in

- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Projects & Plans —
I just finished the most recent batch of pages for the DITD comic! Pathwarden and I will be working out when to make more when we're ready, but for now, I'm pretty happy with the progress.
I've also just finished making animated sketch loops for all the scenes in the Milachu libre project. This animation is going to have dialogue, and the audio for that will be with some kind of speaking tone like they do in Undertale, rather than voice acting. I think I might prefer this kind of audio for dialogue over voice acting, both because it's easier to make and (in most cases) I'm not as interested in voice acting in nsfw art.
The PMB comic is still set aside for now. I'm re-working the story again using feedback from friends. I think all the elements for a good story were there, but not communicated well. This was made clear from the feedback I got after I began to share the story with others scene-by-scene. Actually, we started having little writing sessions together, so I'm not writing the story on my own anymore, and the story we're going to tell is looking way more interesting. We haven't had another writing session in a while, so I really want to plan another soon.
Oh, and I might be working on another little promotional project really soon. That's all I'll say for now. :3c
— Ideas —
Once I finish this Milachu libre project, I would love to start working on another. Keep the ball rolling. Last journal, I had the idea to animate some of Mila's best moments in the club (like from old art), as well as my other characters. Maybe I'll come up with a couple of ideas and let supporters vote. It might be unfair to have people vote between ideas involving different characters, because Mila usually wins, so maybe if I put up a vote, it should be between ideas involving the same character.
I'd love to animate something focused on Lantha for once, so maybe she could be the focus of my next animation. We'll see!
— General Updates —
I've been very organized and planned out lately. I said last journal that I struggled to take breaks, because I was worried about not finishing any projects, so I just constantly stayed working on something every day. My solution: I laid out all the projects I want to finish, planned every step to finish each project from beginning to end (along with how long each step would take in hours), and then put each of those steps on a calendar. Every week day has a couple of items for me to do, already planned out, and I know about how long it should take. I can also see how many days it will take me to finish a project. And of course, some of the items on my calendar include when to plan the next projects of the same category. For example, when I finish the Milachu libre animation, I have time set aside to plan the next animation. This has helped me a lot the past couple of weeks! I can finally enjoy some days off without worry.
Maybe this is TMI, but I hope writing it helps me to remember. I've been working on the health of my booty for bottoming lately. I like being clean as much as possible, but I often struggle to stay that way. I know drinking water helps, but I'm not the best at remembering to drink it constantly throughout the day. However, I think I have a solid method worked out: 1) I make sure to drink a full glass of water with every meal (this cuts out the randomness factor); 2) I have a bowl of beans once a day (often for lunch, with optional tofu and cheese); 3) I eat a bowl of salad once a day (often before dinner); and 4) I drink a bit of meta mucil mixed with a glass of water after dinner every night. I've only been using this system for a couple days, but I already have good results.

- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Projects & Plans —
I finished the sketch comms I opened for a couple months ago. I still plan to open for comms publicly, but not quite yet. I have other projects I want to put focus into first.
One of those projects is the DITD comic. I haven't worked on it in quite a while, and it feels really good to be doing it again. I always feel better when I have a consistent form of paid project to be working on. This big comic is actually easier for me to be doing than a bunch of individual comms, because I'm only working with one person, and the more we work together, the more I understand how to combine our interests so we both like what's going on. Because of this, I might consider doing fewer commissions, but of a higher quality in the future, like animated comms.
Another project I'm starting on is the next animation. I plan to make something with Milachu in a libre outfit, and that's all I'll say for now. My goal for this anim is to keep it limited to just a few loops so I have more time/energy for doing sound effects... and to start the next animation. I'd really like to be making one every month, and I think the key to that is not making them too big.
My work on the PMB comic is on hold for now. I need some time to work on paid projects for a while, and then I will try to settle into a rhythm of working on both drawing and writing projects each week. Maybe each day will have both. Maybe some days will just be for drawing and some for writing. Doing initial sketches (from a blank canvas) is the hardest step for me, because I have to think a lot about how good it will be in the end. However, doing the rest of the drawing work doesn't require as much brain power, because it's just tidying the lines up and adding color. Maybe I could do writing on days when I make those easier parts of the drawings.
— Ideas —
I had another idea for an animation - I could animate the drawings of Mila mouse at the club I made back in 2021. Those were great, and I'd love to get more out of them by adding movement and sounds!
Makes me think about animating other things I've made, like Lantha at the beach, femboy Buttons, and maybe even some of my comics, like Moving In, or GHS.
— General Updates —
The retainer is holding everything in place. It's a little awkward remembering to brush and put the thing back in every day. My goal is to have it in for around 20 hours each day. At the very least, all this brushing I'm doing lately is keeping the cavities away!
In general, I'm feeling pretty good lately. I could do with a bit more organization to my daily routine, and planning ahead which projects I want to finish each week. Lately, I tend to just sit down at my desk and work on whatever I feel like. I often work on paid projects, and that's great, but I never seem to stop. There's no set point when I feel like I can take a break and just play a casual game. Things just happen as they happen. If I'm going to be getting work done each week, I'd at least like it to be pre-planned.
Oh, I've been posting regularly lately! Postybirb has been very helpful to me in that regards; it's a program for posting artwork to a bunch of sites all at once and at scheduled times. My art gets posted automatically, at the time of day I want to post it, even if I'm not around. It's a super useful tool.

I’m nearly done with the sketch comms I opened for supporters back in April. They’ve taken me longer to finish than expected. The reason for that is I wanted these sketches to look really good by my newer standards, so I would spend a lot of extra time planning out details like dialogue, best positions for the characters, and the ideal camera angles. I think if I open them again, I will offer full-color comms publicly, because for all the time I spend planning those details, I could get more mileage out of those details being brought into full-color for a higher price.
My plans right now are: 1) Finish the sketch comms; 2) Continue work on Down in the Dungeon; 3) Make the next animation with sound; 4) Open for public commissions.
When I open for public commissions, I plan to offer 2 types: regular full-color pics OR animated loops. I’m still interested in doing more animation, and I think offering those as a commission option will help me get better. Also, if someone wants me to color a sketch I already made them, or animate it, I plan to offer a discount, because I’ve already made the base sketches, so some of the work is already done.
Also, while all of this is going on, I’m still working on the Pushing My Buttons comic. When I wrote the last journal, I’d been writing daily for a week straight. Now, I’ve been writing that way for over a month. I’ve been doing so much writing that I finished the story, read it over, decided I wanted to change a major part of it, and rewrote the whole thing. I got some feedback from some people too, and that’s helped me improve entire scenes of the story. I used to not like the idea of opening up to feedback, because I felt like “This is my story and I’m gonna tell it the way I want to tell it at the end of the day.” But now I’m open to the idea that getting feedback from an outside perspective can help me tell the same story… just better. It’s nice to hear the story from a fresh perspective - from someone who doesn’t know every detail about my characters because they’re not in my head all the time like I am.
The overall story is done being written, and what I’m doing now is planning out the way the comic pages are going to look for each scene. I write down what the visuals will be and how many panels will be on each page. I think getting feedback during this stage is more important than the part of writing the overall story, because this the part where I lay out how I plan to present information to people, so it’s easy for there to be confusion or communicating the wrong ideas at this step.
— Ideas —
I’ve traded doing personal drawings for personal writing lately, which feels super weird, but also nice, because I’ve never had this kind of drive to write stories before.
I don’t have a lot of ideas I’m not working on at the moment. The only thing I can think of is that I would like to draw more anthro Mila mouse, because she’s got a lot more body for me to play with. :3
— General Updates —
Things have bee going good! I’m on a little bit of an odd sleep schedule due to traveling here lately, but I’m doing well. I plan to head back home in about a week.
When I get back, I really want to play music. I know I’m gonna be super rusty, but I wanna bust out the bass guitar and play some classics. The first song I ever learned to play on bass was Fireflies and Empty Skies by God is an Astronaut, and I wanna go back and play that again.
Oh! Big update! I got my braces removed! OwO
I got a clear retainer to keep my teeth in-place for now. I do plan to do braces again in the future, because I still need to fix my far back teeth (my main goal with the braces was to fix a few teeth in particular, but now I want to fix them all), but I’d rather do something like Invisalign over the wire braces I had before. I don’t know when I will start that treatment, but it will probably be in about a year from now, for budget reasons.
Apparently, I developed a lot of cavities while wearing wire braces because it was really hard to clean my teeth, but I’m getting those filled, and it will be easier to clean my teeth now. I’m also brushing super often because of my retainer - like, brushing after every meal now, instead of just before bed.

Down in the Dungeon is still on hold for now while I work on some private sketch commissions for supporters. Once I finish these sketch comms, I’ll hop right back on the comic!
I finished a big animation that I plan to release to all my supporters, and then I’ll post a promo for it. Shortly after that, I’m gonna put up a poll for what my next animation should be. I have some really good ideas in mind for some Milachu libre stuff. :3c
While I haven’t been doing the anatomy practices I mentioned in the last journal, something I have been doing lately is writing a TON! And what I’ve been writing has been the story for Pushing My Buttons! I spent every day this past week (Monday through Friday) writing for 2-3 hours each day. I finally have some clarity on what the main plot of the story is, so a bunch of scenes and character motivations are just falling into place. I’ve also been cutting out or shortening a lot of scenes that don’t serve the main plot of the story I’m trying to tell, which makes the whole project feel more and more doable.
And if anyone was wondering, the comic is going to be fully SFW. I’m doing my best to focus on telling a story without relying on NSFW elements, which is something I haven’t done since my Milachu to the Rescue comic.
I’ve also been working on SFW art projects and videos, as some of you might have seen on youtube. I’m experimenting to see if I can catch fire making stuff like that as well. I really enjoyed making the most recently Elden Ring concept art, and I’d like to make more!
— Ideas —
Working on PMB so much lately has inspired me to think about how I would write my other story: Light. Light was the first story I ever wrote (since I was 12), and it involves my little gray furry character Xara. That story is the reason I learned how to draw, so that I could make it into a comic someday. So it’s a huge deal to me that I actually make that comic. I got sidetracked for years on other things, like learning how to draw in order to make the comic. And then that transitioned into doing Milachu, because it was a niche genre of art I enjoyed drawing. I think once I finish making PMB, I want to finally create a comic for Light, and bring things back full-circle.
— General Updates —
I’m sorry that I haven’t been replying to people as often lately. There are month-old comments I still haven’t responded to, but I will! Things have been hectic for me lately. I’m juggling a lot of projects, like doing commissions to bring in extra money, and experimenting with a new youtube channel.
Also, my car has been giving me issues, so I’m working on that daily now; it has a rough idle and rough acceleration. I’ve already tried replacing the IAC valve, cleaning the intake manifold, and within the last few days I cleaned the MAF sensor and put in Seafoam to help clean the fuel injectors. My engine air filter is old but it doesn’t look super dirty. The air intake hose wasn’t tightened correctly, so there was unfiltered air getting in through little openings at the lip. I just fixed that issue today, so I’m hoping to see if that resolves the problem. Just gonna wait a while for the ECM to readjust fuel/air levels. Cleaning the MAF seemed to fix the randomness of the rough idle, now it’s idling rough *consistently*, lol!
I plan to do a bit of traveling in a week for personal reasons. Preparing for the trip has taken up a fair bit of my time and mental energy as well.
I can handle all of this stuff, but barely. I was managing fine until my car started demanding my attention, so until I leave for my trip, that’s taking priority over things like the sketch comms.

Production of Down in the Dungeon is still set aside for the time being. I still have some pages only supporters can see I can post publicly, and I’ll be posting those in the coming weeks.
The two things I’m mostly focused on right now are making animations with sound, and some SFW concept art stuff.
After I recently made a bunch of animations, I went to add sound to them. Normally, I use an open source NSFW sound effect library I got from somewhere. However, I wanted to try making some sound effects myself. I did that about a week ago. It was awkward at first, but now I have a bunch of sound effects I recorded myself to use in my animations. I also recorded some vocal sounds, which I hope to use for my characters by modifying the sound files to sound like how I imagine my characters would. Lastly, I normally edit everything for my animations together in iMovie on my iPad (combining animations, music, and sound effects), but I recently got DaVinci Resolve, and it’s way better. Apparently it’s free for iPad and I had no idea until a couple days ago. It’s a way better video editor than iMovie, so this should make producing my animations go way faster!
Some of you might have seen the teaser I just put out about the concept art. I’m slowly dipping my toes more and more into the waters of making cool concept art stuff. I’d love to be able to make them quickly, and really wow people at how fast and easy good-looking things can be painted.
Oh, another thing I’ve been doing lately that’s been nice is spending about 20 minutes daily to practice one particular thing with art. The thing I’ve been focusing on lately is drawing anthro Mila’s anatomy when standing from the front. I want to get better at my anthro humanoid anatomy. It’s helped a lot. I usually only have enough time to draw 2 poses, but it’s been very satisfying. I did something like this about a year ago. Last time, I was drawing her from random angles, but now I’m focusing on a particular camera angle and body pose. And when I’m satisfied with how quickly and easily I can draw her like this, I’ll do a different angle and pose.
— Ideas —
I can be very scatter-brained. I have so many things I want to do, but not enough time to do them all. And without some structure, I end up jumping from one project to another. I’ll want to really focus on finishing project A, so I’ll spend an hour on it, but then I’ll go and spend like 3 hours on project B. And the frustrating part is I really can’t let myself do that, because I do art as a job, and I have been burning through savings while I haven’t been bringing in as much money, so I am looking at doing commissions again soon more than likely. They’re very helpful, because they give me something concrete to focus on, and they bring in direct money to help pay bills.
I’m very happy with the set of general projects I’m doing right now. Short daily art practice, some pretty sfw art, big nsfw animation project, and commissions.
After the animation I’m working on now is done, I’ll throw up a couple ideas for my higher-tier supporters to vote on~
— General Updates —
I went back and watched an old video that helped me stay organized and productive, from CGPGrey called “Spaceship You”, which I’ll link below. The video is about how to keep yourself structured and productive while existing mostly in one place, which I do everyday, so it’s very helpful for me. I often use the same desk where I do my drawing work to also watch entertainment and play games, so now I exclusively only do creative stuff at my desk, no videos, no games. Now when I feel like watching something or gaming, I get up and go to my relaxing station, which is in another spot. I miss watching stuff while working, but I do get very distracted from watching things while trying to be creative, so this is a good change. Bitter medicine, but good.

As a follow-up from last journal, I’ve successfully remained off the nicotine vape. I’m drinking an extra coffee’s worth of caffeine each day now, but that’s way better than the headaches and lack of focus I got from hitting the nicotine daily. I still haven’t been smoking any weed, but I’m starting to come back around to the idea - now that things are getting more structured around me again.

February 2025 Check-in

- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.

Down in the Dungeon is coming along. I’ve put it aside for now while I work on some other things for a bit, but more pages are being cooked up now, and it feels good to post new pages finally. I can see some people are pleasantly surprised the comic is taking so long to get to the “good part”. I’m glad they like the writing work Warden and I did! I’ll return to working on the comic after I finish my newest animation.
I’m almost done posting the GHS3 comic. I remember when I finished making that comic, I called it my magnum opus, because it had all the stuff in it that I like my work to have, but pushed to the max in terms of quality and amount of content. It feels really good to have it pretty much out there in the public finally.
I’m working on a 4-scene animation right now involving Mila, Lantha, and Buttons. After I finish it, I strongly plan on making another animation. And then another after that. And I want to keep making them, so animating gets easier and faster.
I’m planning on reworking my reward tiers on Patreon and Subscribestar very soon, because I haven’t been delivering on my current rewards, and I want to make a rewards system I can actually deliver on. I’ve tried to offer making people art as a reward for years now, but it’s so hard to deliver on that promise each month. Once the newest animation is mostly done, I’ll fire up the new rewards system and try it out.
Maybe some of you saw the video I posted recently to youtube. I liked showing my process on how I animate, and I’d love to make more videos like that if the opportunities pop up!
— Ideas —
Would I make another GHS comic, like a GHS4? I’m not sure. Because now, I’m way more interested in animations. Maybe I could make it as a comic with animated panels.
My animations are very simple right now, with simple backgrounds, and no setup. Eventually, I would love to work my way up to having more setup, like building a scene to have context for the action my characters get into. Plus, I’d like to improve the backgrounds I use for them. Come to think of it… the backgrounds don’t have to move, and I can draw some high quality static backgrounds… so maybe I’ll try to do some higher quality BGs for some future animations - probably one where I only have to draw one or two backgrounds.
— General Updates —
I was not well for a while. My dad’s health is declining, and my personal mental health was in a nosedive. I had some panic attacks that made me feel like I had to make drastic changes in my life, or else I wouldn’t survive. The biggest change I made was getting to bed on time and waking up at a consistent time, instead of falling asleep in front of a screen, and then waking up at 3am to brush my teeth and go to bed. I’ve done that the past 2-3 days/nights, and I already feel so much better. I also stopped using my nicotine vape altogether - it was giving me bad headaches. Since I made those changes, my head doesn’t feel so heavy when I wake up, I have more energy, more interest in stuff, I’m more social, and I have less panic attacks. I say less because, for some reason now, I’ve been having mini attacks when smoking weed, so I’m not smoking anything right now. Just me and the caffeine.

Come to think of it… the backgrounds don’t have to move, and I can draw some high quality static backgrounds… so maybe I’ll try to do some higher quality BGs for some future animations - probably one where I only have to draw one or two backgrounds.

January 2025 Check-in
Posted 9 months agoHeya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Projects & Plans —
I’m so caught up with pages for the Down in the Dungeon comic. I’ll be posting more pages to that comic very soon. Not to give too much away, but I’m right up to the point where some spicy stuff is about to happen~
I don’t have very many other things on my plate at this time.
My birthday is coming up in February, which is the same month I started posting as Milachu. My birthday is Feb 22nd. And Feb 4th was when I started on Furaffinity back in 2012.
— Ideas —
I’m thinking about doing a little something special for February. I might do some events or special art. Maybe a big stream, or series of streams - I don’t do streams as often as I used to anymore and I think it would be nice to revisit that. Maybe I’ll make an animation. Maybe I’ll remake some of my old drawings in my new style.
If I do make some art, it would focus on Mila and her birthday. I would like to play around with her anthro form more. It’s easier to show off her curves, and it’s more fun to draw that form with (and without) clothes.
I’ve been working on some super detailed landscape paintings lately - they’re not like my usual art at all. I picked up some art courses on how to paint cool landscapes a couple years ago. I started it, got a lot of useful stuff, but then stopped. It was a lot of new info, so I got overloaded and stopped. But now I’m a lot more confident with making backgrounds, so doing more projects from the art courses is easier. I think it would be nice to be able to make other kinds of art, so that doing just my cartoony Mila stuff doesn’t get as stale over time.
There’s a lot I could be doing as Mila. I could be making more comics (I have a TON of ideas). I could make more high-quality single image pics, or more image series stuff like the one with Lantha on the beach. But I think the thing I want to do most is animate more. Animations get a ton of attention compared to anything else I make. Animation is not as hard as it once was for me, and I feel confident with my animation skills today. My top-tier long-term goal is to be making enough money from monthly subscribers so I don’t have to do commissions. I still WOULD do commissions, but I want to get rid of the pressure to do them. I think making more animations is my best chance at that.
But animation takes time and dedication. How do I get myself started down the road of making animations more? I can’t instantly get started with constantly making animations - it takes time to build up to that point. The best thing I can do is to make it as easy as possible to get into them. The baseline for that is doing basic stuff like keeping myself and my place clean. After that, I think I could make a goal of choosing one day each week to animate for just 2 hours. I might do that on Wednesdays. Once I have a feeling for how long it takes to make them, maybe I can make one or two full animations with sound each month.
— General Updates —
I’m currently taking a short break. I really need it. A lot has been going on in my life that just completely drained me. Stuff with family, with mental health, and with general unfortunate news in my life. I also just finished a huge work load by pushing through to make the most recent batch of Down in the Dungeon pages, so I felt really tired after pushing through feeling down to get my work done.
This rest period has been very helpful. I am trying to return to being social with my friends - I think that helps me feel way better.

December 2024 Check-in
Posted 10 months agoHeya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Projects & Plans —
Currently working on more pages for the Down in The Dungeon comic for Pathwarden. The next 4 pages are already done and up for subs, and I have made thumbnails for 7 more pages. Once I finish a couple more pages for subs, I’ll start posting more pages publicly. I think once the holidays are over, I’ll be able to happily laser-focus on this comic for a while. There’s a lot more to come~
My goal for December was to make a few seasonal drawings. I started out with the pic of Buttons wearing 5 socks. There’s another seasonal drawing I’ve already made of Lantha, plus an animation with sound that I’ve posted for subs. I plan on making just one more pic for the season, and it will be in the style of the Happy Xmas 2022 pic and the Happy Halloween 2021 pic. So I’m on track to make more than I planned for the month, and I’m already very happy with what I’ve made.
I finished the commissions I offered to the two people whom I couldn’t send body pillows to, so now the first batch of body pillow orders is completely done. If I sell more in the future, I might try to sell through a website where people can choose the material and size for themselves. I have no plans to mess with that for now, but if I get the urge to sell more body pillows in the future, this will be what I look at doing first.
— Ideas —
After the holidays, I’m thinking about spending some time on other types of creative works. I’m interested in learning how to make really detailed concept art for fantasy settings. I also want to make more music. I read some comments of people saying they like the sound design I do for my animations, particularly the music, and I make the music myself, so now I’m kinda interested in making more of that, and then maybe releasing it all as an album. I’m not yet sure if I’m going to try doing this stuff in-between making comic pages, or dedicating some time off. Usually what I do is take some time off and only work on other things like this, but maybe I could just reduce the normal work I expect of myself for a few weeks while I use the extra time to do personal side stuff - like an extended half-vacation.
As for my usual art, I’m interested in drawing other non-pokemon fanart. For example, I like Gatomon, Isabelle, and the boo sisters Lahla and Peeka. There are also characters belonging to other artists I’d really like to make more art of, like Bondi from Braeburned, or Myrna from my friend Veesocks. I’ve drawn mostly pokemon or my own characters for years, so branching out for a while would be nice, just to see if I enjoy it, and to see if anything sticks.
— General Updates —
That partnership I did with Lovense was a lot of fun! The comic was a bit awkward here and there in my opinion, because they asked me to have the characters say the product’s full name (so instead of just saying “Solace”, they wanted them to say “Solace Pro”). However, it was a fine comic in the end! I am considering doing another partnership in the future. I actually had at least 1 other toy company reach out to me to do a partnership, but I’m not trying to start anything new, not for at least a few months.
I’ve stopped having the good routine I mentioned in the last journal (where I was tidying up my place, answering messages, posting new art, and streaming for 4 days a week). I stopped because I got sick, I got behind on some things, and then the holidays showed up. I’d like to return to this consistency after the holidays. If I do end up focusing on other art ideas while making the comic pages, I may not stream as much, but I’d still like to keep up with tidying up, answering messages, and posting my art.

November 2024 Check-in
Posted 11 months agoHeya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Projects & Plans —
After I was unsuccessful in finding out how to ship nsfw body pillow covers to two buyers overseas, I reached out to both and offered commissions or refunds instead. They both accepted the commissions, which made me feel good~ I’ll be working on those next.
I finished my part of the work in the animated YCH me and Ninevolt sold. I think that’s all I gotta do with that project. We’ll see!
I moved on after that to continue work on Pathwarden’s mystery dungeon comic, and I now have the next 5-ish pages rough drafted. I believe new pages will be going up publicly within the next few weeks.
Oh also, I’m working on a little short comic “commission”. You’ll see what I mean by next journal~
— Ideas —
Since last journal, I have been drawing more Lantha! She’s very cute, and she’s great for practice with drawing butts. I’ve been into drawing her in really soft and cozy environments. Expect more pics of her soon!
I want to animate something again. It’s been a while, and the more practice I get animating, the more often I’ll animate. Maybe I’ll make a couple practice loops, then move on to a bigger project. I want to make my own sounds, and add voice to the next one.
— General Updates —
I finished this whole past week where each day (except Wednesday) I cleaned my place up, answered my messages, uploaded new art, and worked on something for pay each afternoon. I intended to stream that work for subs each day, but only managed to stream on Monday and Thursday; mostly because I used Tuesday and Friday to do some writing for a commissioned short comic (that should be coming out soon). I feel super good after that! Those are all the things that tend to cause me a bit of stress when I’m not doing them. It’s hard to shut out that noise in the back of my head that my place is messy, that people are waiting a long time on replies, if I’m not posting my stuff, and I really like streaming for two reasons: 1) It forces me to sit still and work on stuff; 2)I like socializing with people who are watching me draw live.
I did all that. Now it’s the weekend and I feel really satisfied and chill. I need more weeks like this one.
Something I did ahead of the week that helped keep me on track was to make a plan of what I was going to work on and which days. That way, my goals are met. I just have to avoid setting expectations that are too high. They should be reasonable goals that don’t require me to enter some kind of super focus mode.

October 2024 Check-in
Posted a year agoHeya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.

I still haven’t found a way to ship stuff outside the US and to Europe, so the two dakis people ordered to be shipped over there may have to get refunded soon. My plan is to offer those two persons the option of a refund or a commission, since they’ve already paid. I feel bad that I’m not able to figure out a way to do this, but now I know for the future that if I plan to ship products myself, I should only ship to the US. This first round of selling dakis has been an interesting experience.
I’ve completed 11 of my 12 commissions. I only have one left, and then I’ll be moving on to finishing the animation YCH collab that me and Ninevolt sold. Once that’s done, I’ll move on to continuing work on Pathwarden’s PMD comic. I really like working on that comic and I miss it!
I realized why doing the writing for my Buttons comic is taking so long. I have only been doing writing sessions on my days off from drawing, but those days are kinda rare. So instead, I’m doing writing sessions in the morning on some days before I start drawing, that way I get both things done that I want to do. I know writing sessions only last 2-3 hours, and I like having about an hour to chill after doing them, so if I block out a 4-hour period for some mornings in advance, then I’ll be able to get both writing and drawing done in the same day.
Oh yeah! So when October was coming up, I decided to do the Inktober challenge on a whim. I like doing seasonal stuff when the holidays come around to get me in a seasonal mood, but I couldn’t come up with any ideas, so I decided I would try Inktober again. For context, Inktober is an annual thing where you make a drawing every day for the month of October based on a set of 31 prompts; some people make their own prompts, but the most common one is from inktober.com. The last time I did this challenge was in 2021, and all the drawings I did were SFW. This time, I decided to make them all NSFW instead. (I haven’t posted them everywhere, just to Inkbunny, Itaku, Twitter, and my Discord servers.)
Also, some of you may have noticed my old art being removed from FA and being uploaded to Itaku. I’m finally getting around to doing this in accordance with the new FA rules. I don’t know how long it will take, but I’m taking it slow and steady regardless.
— Ideas —
I mentioned wanting to draw more Lantha and Buttons last journal, but I haven’t drawn that stuff as much as I want ever since, mostly because I’ve been doing the Inktober challenge. I also want to make another animation, but with my own voice acting and sound effects, as opposed to the free library of sounds I downloaded and have been using. Maybe I’ll be making a new animation in tandem with when I’m doing Pathwarden’s comic. I think I could handle that. Some days I may do writing and work on the comic, some days I may do work on the animation and the comic.
— General Updates —
I’m 2/3 of the way done with Inktober so far, and here is how I’m feeling about it:
I like it, but I’d rather do something else. I feel really good that I’m so active in general. I like keeping up with the daily prompts, and posting every day feels really nice. However, I’d prefer something that gets me in a more seasonal mood - something that’s Halloween or Autumn-themed. And I’d rather be making a few really nice, seasonal, fully-colored drawings for this time of year as opposed to a bunch of sketches that aren’t even seasonal for the most part. I plan to try doing something like this next year, and this upcoming Christmas season too.
Also, if I want to do Inktober again, I recommend myself to come up with all my ideas for the prompts before October begins. When I started the challenge, I only had half the prompts filled out. Then, while in the middle of making these daily drawings (on top of my normal work), I had to spend even more time coming up with ideas for the prompts without ideas yet - so definitely come up with all the prompt ideas during September.

September 2024 Check-in
Posted a year agoHeya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Projects & Plans —
I spent quite a while trying to figure out how to ship the remaining 2 dakis to Europe, but I haven’t gotten any closer to figuring that out yet. I checked out one service called Shippo that I thought would make the process easy, but it’s still super confusing. I need to reach out to more people soon for more help on this.
I’m halfway through completing my commission queue. It feels super good to be doing regular commissions after so long. I’m familiar with the process, and the pay is very reliable. I’ve completed 6, and I have 6 drawings left in the queue.
New Down in the Dungeon pages are being posted for now, but will soon stop, because more pages need to get made. I’ll continue making those once my commission queue gets cleared out.
I have only done one writing session for Pushing my Buttons since the last journal. A lot of irl stuff happened that made doing that hard to do, but I have hope coming up soon to do more of these.
— Ideas —
I’ve been thinking about Lantha wearing nothing but her big puffy sweater lately, the bottomless look is really cute on her. I’ve also been thinking about drawing some femboy Buttons stuff. Dressing up girly and being treated as girly is something he’s really into.
Like I said last journal, once the commissions are done, I want to start work on another animation, which I already have sketches for. I really like the reaction my last animation got. It’s still wild to think that animation is my most popular thing now.
— General Updates —
I took a break from doing commissions last week to recharge myself. I managed to clean up my place pretty good, I spent time with friends, I did some long gaming sessions, and made some really nice personal art for myself. All in all, it was a much needed break, and my time was well spent!
I think I should take breaks like that either once a month or once every other month. I think what made it a good break is I set some personal goals and I met them, but I also let myself cut loose and indulge in personal interests to a level I don’t normally allow for the sake of productivity. I feel really good with my place tidied up now.

August 2024 Check-in

- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates

— Projects & Plans —
I sent out all but 2 of the dakis since last journal. The only 2 I haven’t sent out yet are supposed to be shipped to another country, and I am looking into how to mail stuff internationally. I should hopefully have that taken care of this coming week, starting tomorrow.
The Fireballs for Two comic has been completed! Stormy and I cooked some very good stuff there. I want to start posting the pages to this comic again soon. I’m not sure when I will, because I have pages to two other comics I plan to start posting soon. There may drop 3 pages in one week soon, coming from 3 different comics.
Work for Down in the Dungeon has been paused for now. In the meantime, I took some standard commission requests from Patreon and Subscribestar supporters. It’s been about a year since I last made regular commissions and it feels fun to do them again. My goal is completing about 2 per week; that’s a very doable rate.
I did another writing session for Pushing my Buttons. I only did one since last journal, and I still strive to do them weekly. I’ll try doing them every Wednesday this coming month; maybe I’ll make Wednesday my regular writing day if that plan works.
— Ideas —
I haven’t made much more of the general-audience art I mentioned last journal, but I have been making personal stuff more in general. I made some spicy art of my characters, as well as some Raichu art. I’ve been drawing a lot of Raichu lately, so they’ve been on my mind~
I started the process of making another animation. It feels a little bit ambitious, but it’s very doable. I might try making it once I’m done with my current batch of commissions and before I get back to work on comics.
— General Updates —
I posted my most recent animation publicly (to Twitter and e621) and it did SUPER well; I’m extremely happy to see how well it was received! It’s the only post of mine to pass 10k Likes on Twitter, it got me over the 40k followers milestone, and it’s now my highest rated art (by score) on e621. I’m working on a little thank-you drawing as a follow-up.
I’m finally all done with moving! I have a new problem - half my stuff is in trash bags laying around the house, but at least the actual moving stuff part is done. I’ve been enjoying myself lately, since I finally have the time to relax and focus on drawing.
Thankfully I haven’t had any issues with my gaming addiction lately. I’ve been happily focusing most of my time on drawing, with gaming as a ‘sometimes’ thing. I’m kinda interested in playing the generations of pokemon games I skipped over. I played Gen 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, & 9. I’m missing 5, 6, & 7. I don’t have a working DS but I have a DS emulator on my phone and the files for playing Pokemon Black, so I might play some Gen 5 next. Gens 6 and 7 are on the 3DS, and I do have a working 2DS that I want to use more, so I might pick up Y version and Ultra Moon to play those.

July 2024 Check-in
Posted a year agoHeya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Projects & Plans —
I got very sidetracked since last journal, so I never sent out the dakis. I have today begun the process of reaching out to everyone who ordered to double-check their shipping addresses. I plan to hopefully ship them all out next Wednesday. Glad to see a product with my drawing on it get sold like this!
Work on Down in the Dungeon has resumed! I’ve finished the rough draft stages for the next five pages, so those are ready to be detailed and colored.
As for Fireballs For Two, I got caught up on that and then a little extra. Just one more page and it will be done~
I did have another writing session for Pushing My Buttons since last journal. I’d still like to get back to at least once a week, but I’m at least glad to do another one. Writing the story has turned into a fun exercise I like to do between batches of drawing days when I have time. I like delving into characters’ personalities and seeing how they deal with different situations.
— Ideas —
I’ve recently been making drawings for a more general-audience portfolio - stuff like clouds, sunsets, mountains, vector art that looks like really detailed logos, as opposed to the niche art I make 99% of the time. Maybe I’ll make a real portfolio out of this I could send to potential clients. Makes me feel very professional!
Last journal, I mentioned spending another week maybe doing another animation. I definitely will do that again, but not this month. I want to catch up on my comic work a bit first, and then I can spare time for another animation. I still haven’t posted the last one publicly yet. Maybe I’ll start another when I post it, since my mind will be on it then.
— General Updates —
Last journal, I said I wanted to start making more quick color sketches. I decided I’d start those first thing each morning. I quickly realized I just really liked drawing first thing in the morning in general. Usually I use the morning to take care of errands, tidy my place up, exercise, and shower. But when I start drawing first instead, I’m usually full of inspiration, energy, and focus (and caffeine)! Those are all the best conditions to make art, and they can be quite elusive to me! So I plan to do this more soon.
I haven’t been able to draw as much lately because I had to finish moving a lot more stuff to my new place. I finished that up last week. Also gave my car an oil change cuz it was badly needed, replaced the radiator, and did a deep clean. I vacuumed the seats, wiped everything down, and put in one of those pine tree air fresheners. It’s a very nice feeling~
I had my fun with the Elden Ring DLC. I got lost in it there for a bit. Sometimes I play games too much and don’t do my work. Gaming should be a thing I do in my down time when I actually need a break, not every day. It was hard to pull away from, and it was eating my time for drawing. I kept telling myself it was a reward for doing really simple and easy stuff. Gotta remember this for the future so it doesn’t happen again. I want to focus on making things as its own reward, not gaming.

June 2024 Check-in
Posted a year agoHeya there~

- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Projects & Plans —
I still have the Mila dakis with me. I haven’t shipped them out yet, because I’ve been very busy with moving lately. I’ve been meaning to move for at least a year, and the opportunity showed up suddenly, so I took it. I just grabbed the box of dakis from my old place today, so they’re in my hands again! I plan to ship them out to everyone who ordered one either next week, or the week after if something comes up.
Because of the move, I haven’t done a lot of work since my last journal. Fireballs for Two is still in the queue to be finished! Same goes for Down in the Dungeon.
I want to get back into having writing sessions for Pushing my Buttons now that I’m mostly done moving - I’ll plan to have at least one next week to get me back into writing the scenes.
— Ideas —
So I set a random goal after my last journal to make a simple animated loop. I did that, and then I wanted to color it, add an additional scene, add sound effects, and create a music track for it. Long story short, I have a new animation up for supporters now, I just haven’t advertised it yet. x3
It took me a week and a half to make, which is good! It didn’t take so long, and I didn’t burn out. It would have only taken me a week if I didn’t spend so much time making the music for the background. Next time, my goal is to finish one in a week. I want to make another, probably in July!
I’m starting to feel like doing more quick colored sketches. Back in 2021, I made a bunch of pics with Mila going to the club, getting drunk, and having fun. And after that, I made a bunch of pics with Lantha going to the beach and also having fun. Each pic was quick and easy to make. As soon as I made the pics, I would post them. I could make one in just part of my day, and then spend the rest of my day working on other projects. I want to do that again! I miss the quick turnaround times and low commitment, while still making something I’m proud of. I have a bunch of old sketches of Mila I can color to start with, and if I make one each day, I’m hoping it will energize me to make more from scratch, and more art in general!
— General Updates —
So yeah, like I mentioned, I moved! The bulk of the move took a week, but there’s a bunch of small stuff that still needs to be done. I’m still in the same city, I didn’t move far. I moved to get away from bad neighbors, if you’re curious. But also, the new place is nicer in general! Because I was busy moving, I didn’t get time to draw much, so I lost my flow. I also stopped answering messages daily like I was doing before. I lost a lot of my good habits and motivation. I’m slowly building it back up now day by day, but I’m taking it easy, because moving was very exhausting, and getting used to the new place is a bit awkward.
Oh, and as I’m writing this, the Elden Ring DLC is gonna drop in the next few hours. I’m really into that game, and I’m gonna be playing the heck out of this DLC. After all the moving and stress lately, I really want to immerse myself in this game for a while. See you all later~

Finally the bulk order for my Mila dakis has arrived! I plan to package those up and ship them out to everyone who ordered one soon. I’m a little tied up right now, but I plan to ship them out after the next week or two!
Fireballs for Two has just two more pages left to make. The next page is in the queue to be made soon!
It seems people are really getting into the Down in the Dungeon comic Pathwarden and I have put out there so far. I’m really glad to hear it! Strap in, because you’re in for a bit of a ride~
Pushing my Buttons the comic has now passed into a new phase of writing! Up until now, I’ve been trying to map out and understand who my characters are and what their arcs will be. Now I’m finally writing full scenes! If I can keep doing about 2 writing sessions per week, I’m hoping the scene crafting will all be done in like 3 or 4 months, and then I can draw the pages! I’m really excited! This will be the first fully SFW comic I’ve ever made with non-Pokemon characters, and it will be Buttons’ first SFW comic too! The writing for the story here also feels very personal and expressive for me.
— Ideas —
The music video I started making is still on a hiatus. Actually, I may move it to the back burner for a while in order to make some simpler animated loops with sound for a while. I’d like some practice before I move up to a music video. I have a number of ideas for short animations lying around. Some of my supporters voted a while back on which animation I should make next, and I’ve been intending to make it for a while. Making just one per month would be nice, I think. A couple scenes, sound effects, done!
The more I think about it, the more work I keep wanting to add to it, like “oh I should add this little intro scene,” or “I should add a transition here,” or “I could make more scenes and have a nicer animation!” But I’m worried about hitting burnout! Making that 3-way animation of Buttons with Mila and Lantha half a year ago took a lot out of me. I need to establish some kind of standard, like limit myself to just a few scenes at most, so I don’t take too long on anything. Agh, but I also want to experiment and find out what works best for my animations! I guess it comes down to what I value more, refining my animation skills and speed, or experimenting to find and learn new techniques. I think… I want to refine. I want to put stuff out there more often! So I think I’m going to need to put a limit on how many scenes I make per animation, and how detailed I can make each scene. That might actually be interesting - I may figure out how to cut corners in really cool ways!
— General Updates —
Since my last journal, I’ve still been doing fantastic! I’m starting to drink more water and eat more fiber. My body has been very thankful, haha! I think I need to start cleaning up and showering a little more often - I can get very tunnel-visioned and focus on tasks sometimes and I don’t want to take the time to clean me or my place.
My caffeine addiction is still as strong as ever - good, good! I want it enough to answer all my messages every day to get it, but not enough that I would break away from my personal rule and cheat. I’ve skipped a couple days here and there, but wow, the results are hard to argue with! I’ve kept up with my messages so well for a month now. This is the best I’ve done in a long time! Gosh, it’s been *years* since I last kept up with people on the daily like this. I also used this same personal rule to get myself to start posting more often.
Oh, I do need to stream twice a week again! I stopped doing that recently and I should go back to it. They really help me focus on my projects!

April 2024 Check-in
Posted a year agoHeya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Projects & Plans —
The Mila daki samples arrived! I checked for quality between a couple different materials and decided on the 2-way Tricot. I also put out a Twitter poll asking what sizes of daki people tend to have, and most people said theirs were around 150x50cm. So now I have a bulk order of Mila dakis on their way to me! I’m excited to ship these out when they arrive! ^^
I got all caught up with the Fireballs for Two comic! Just a couple more pages to go now.
I finished the Xmas YCH for Obsidian and posted it to all the places it can be posted! (Reminder that not all of my art can be posted to Furaffinity or Inkbunny. To see all of my art, check my Twitter, Itaku, or my Discord server)
I finished my first major part of the work on the animated YCH with Ninevolt and passed him the WIP file to continue making the project.
I’m now returning to work on the Down in the Dungeon comic. Now that I’ve got caught up on a lot of my other work, I’m hoping to start getting one page done per week for this comic, as a baseline level of productivity.
I’m still chipping away at the writing for the Pushing my Buttons comic! I keep running into several little roadblocks that slow down the writing process, but then I overcome them and keep going. Now that I have my characters and themes more clearly defined, writing the scenes is going faster! In terms of writing out all the scenes I want to have, I’d guess I’m about 15% done.
— Ideas —
The music video idea I wrote about last time hasn’t moved much, because other things have been occupying my time this past month. What I’m doing is I’m planning out the visuals for each section of lyrics before I draw them. Then I plan to storyboard some still images along to the music like an animatic. Then I can add the motion and color (I expect this part to take the longest).
— General Updates —
I got out of my weird phase I wrote about last journal - where I don’t feel like drawing as much. And actually, I’m doing better than ever now. I’m keeping my place cleaned up, I’m getting regular exercise, I’m checking my messages every day, I’m posting stuff regularly, and I’m privately streaming to supporters again.
I usually struggle to keep up with answering messages and posting art regularly. I’ve recently solved this issue by hijacking my coffee addiction. Basically I’m not allowed to have coffee each day until I check my messages and post some art or pay site promos. This has helped me a ton! Now having my first coffee of the day feels like a big reward.
I do stream privately to supporters. I want to get into the habit of streaming twice a week at least. Streams are great for helping me focus on projects, because as long as I’m live, I feel like I have to be doing something. I don’t like the feeling of dead air when the audience (or potential audience) just sees nothing happening. I’ve been doing these streams a bit more lately and I look forward to making them even more regular!

March 2024 Check-in
Posted a year agoHeya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Projects & Plans —
I’ve swapped out “commissions” for “projects”, since I don’t really do commissions all the time like I used to. I’m more focused on big projects now than single-image commissions like I used to make.
I’ve ordered samples of the Mila Dakimakuras (body pillows). Now I’m just waiting for them to send me the samples so I can check for quality before I order the rest in bulk~
I haven’t moved much on the comic projects for Stormy and Path in a while. Some progress, but slow on my end.
I have 2 YCH projects on my plate at the moment. One is the winner of a YCH I sold in December - that one is in the sketch detail phase. I suspect I’ll only need a couple more days to finish that. The other is an animated YCH I sold with Nine-Volt on Twitter - that one is in the initial sketch phase. I’ll be making some of the animation for this YCH, and Nine will be helping me - he is way more experienced with animation than I am!
Like I mentioned last journal, I was doing daily practice drawing, and it was very satisfying! I started out practicing anthro Mila, and then switched over to practicing animation, because I wanted to start getting involved with that. I reached a point with both of those areas and felt confident stopping. I now feel way more confident drawing tall and thin anthro forms, and also making very rough-draft sketch animations. I’ve been posting the doodles of anthro Mila on Twitter. You’ll see some of the animations I made in practice there soon too!
— Ideas —
I’ve been learning a lot about how to animate, especially in my art program Clip Studio Paint. I started out just learning some basic principles, such as making things move in arcs, having slow-in and slow-out movement, and more. Also, I just recently learned how to use keyframes.
With my newly acquired animation knowledge, I am planning on doing something that’s been a dream of mine ever since I was in middle school - I’m gonna make an animated music video! :3
I’m not going to share what the song will be, but it will mainly feature small mouse Mila.
Last journal I mentioned I’ve been finally writing for the Pushing My Buttons comic again. I do plan for it to be a rather large comic. I want to tell better and better stories, especially about my own experiences. I mentioned that I came up with a theme to help me center my writing around, and that’s helped a ton! I initially planned to do 45 minutes of daily writing, but I can’t do short daily story writing like I do with drawing practice. Instead, I’ve been spending 1 day per week going out to a coffee shop and committing about 3-4 hours to just writing. I want to do this more than once per week, but I want to give all my projects the time they deserve.
— General Updates —
I’ve been going through a weird phase lately where I just don’t feel like drawing. The act of sitting down and drawing just didn’t excite me like it usually does. So instead of forcing myself to draw until I feel like it again, I focused on cleaning the space I do drawing in. I’ve been cleaning my house daily for the past few days, and I do feel better. I still didn’t totally feel like drawing though. So what I’m doing now is returning to short and daily 30 minute practice sketching. The idea is if I get myself warmed up to the feeling of drawing each day, just a little bit, then I’ll be willing to focus on larger projects. 30 minutes is very low-commitment and easy to maintain for me each day. And I specifically draw the same character each practice session - it takes the guess work out of who to draw each practice session.
I’m playing bass guitar again, that’s been fun. :3
I haven’t touched it in probably over a year. I am so out of practice. It was a little frustrating at first because I wasn’t playing as well as I thought I should be. So I took things back to basics, slowed myself down, and now I’m just practicing one very simple song each day. If you’re curious, that song is “Fireflies and Empty Skies” by God Is An Astronaut.

February 2024 Check-in
Posted a year agoHeya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my commission queue & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Commissions & Plans —
A quick reminder that I don’t see myself opening up for commissions for the foreseeable future. Right now, I’m focusing on the paid projects I have in front of me, as well as trying to branch out and try new things.
Last journal, I mentioned I plan to sell a Mila body pillow, and now I’ve begun the process. I opened up for anyone to pre-order a body pillow, and now I have a good measure on how many people are interested. The pre-order period is now closed. My next move is to order samples from the distributor to check for quality, and then I can bulk order the rest.
The two comic commissions are moving along! I’ll be making at least 2 more pages for Stormy’s comic soon, and Warden’s comic has a lot more planned ahead! Now I’ve posted the first couple pages of that comic to some sites (Inkbunny, Itaku, Bluesky, and Twitter).
I haven’t made any new YCHs or animations yet like I wanted to start doing last month. My plans changed a bit. Instead, my plans are now to practice. I’ve been practicing so much lately! I’ve been working on my anatomy for anthro Mila mouse. Every day, I’m working on all the areas of drawing her anatomy that I’m not that good at drawing. If something is hard for me to draw, I focus on that for a few days until I can do it quickly and easily. The steady improvement over several days feels so satisfying!
I have been practicing this for 30 minutes each day for the past 2 weeks. Probably later this week, I will be proficient enough to move on. The next thing I want to practice will be animation. I’ll try to make a bunch of short and simple sketch GIFs every day.
I do want to continue the YCHs, so I’ll plan to start another one next week. Maybe around Monday or Tuesday.
— Ideas —
It feels very liberating making a pokemon comic. I don’t draw pokemon very often lately. I am glad that I made a new little pika Mila drawing recently on stream, that felt great. :3
Someone asked me if I could just bring back pika Mila, and I am thinking about it! Now that I have a comfortable safety net of my own original designs to fall back on, I can see doing more work with pika Mila again. Maybe include her in a YCH. Maybe include her in my upcoming animation practice sessions!
Oh! I’ve been writing again! I’m working on the story for Pushing my Buttons. I recently found out what was making the whole process so hard - I didn’t have a theme. With no theme, I had no idea what motivations or beliefs my characters were pivoting around. They were just doing random stuff. Now I have a theme, and the story and characters serve that theme. My characters have perspectives on that theme, and those perspectives shift over time as the story progresses. I plan to keep working on this story every day for like 45 minutes.
— General Updates —
The payment on the last YCH is almost done being sorted out. I’m starting to wonder if the I only haven’t started a new YCH sooner is because the last one hasn’t been completed yet. I’ll have to remember this for the future - have multiple YCH projects moving in tandem, and do at least one per month.
Some of you know I had some dental issues that needed sorting out as far back as a few years ago. Since then, I’ve gotten over half a dozen cavities filled, got a root canal done, got my wisdom teeth removed, and got braces put on. Just this month, I finally got a permanent crown put on the last tooth that needed any major work. The only thing I need now is to wait for my braces to finish aligning my teeth. I’m so happy! ;w;
I’m away from home until next week. Once I get back, I want to start going jogging daily. And I wanna practice bass again, now that I have a good method for practice.

January 2024 Check-in

- the state of my commission queue & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Commissions & Plans —
I’m still not doing commissions at this time. I’m still working on other things. Other things like a body pillow I totally plan to sell! This is very new and experimental for me, so I’ll start out probably taking pre-orders from pledged supporters on Patreon/SubStar, and then move out to the public from there.
Other than that, my plans are to continue work on two comic commissions and to make more personal animations.
The two comics are for Stormy and Warden. I’ve posted some pages of the Stormy comic, so you might have seen some of that already. I haven’t posted any of the comic pages for Warden yet. I think I will soon though, and incentivize people to support me by having the next few pages available for supporters only~
After I make the next YCH, I’ll start looking at making the next animation. One of my 2024 goals is to make an animation every month. I don’t know what the minimums on that are going to be, but I think I generally want to make at least something that moves each month. Even just a GIF with no sound. But ideally I would like to add sound.
— Ideas —
I’ve been playing around with anthro mouse Mila in some punk attire lately. She sort of developed a personality around the “punk” theme all on her own. Like, as I drew her in a punk uniform more and more, I started changing her face to be more smug and overconfident. This is the only idea I have in my head currently. Most of the stuff I want to draw, I have a plan for drawing.
— General Updates —
I did get a winner for the last YCH I posted, but it will take some time to sort out payment on that. The next YCH I make may be a collab between me and another artist, but that’s all I’ll say for now~
I posted the animation I teased before. It’s only on Twitter right now, but you can only view it if you have an account.I haven’t gotten around to posting it anywhere else just yet. I’ll link it below:
https://twitter.com/Milachu92/statu.....27521486672269
Okay so my holidays were all over the place. There were lot of fun highs and lots of bad low points too. I kinda expected that, but something a bit unexpected also happened. I stopped drawing for about 2 solid weeks. That hasn’t happened to me in a long time! I wanted to draw, but I was always busy helping friends or family with stuff. At first I got antsy; I was worried if that the longer I didn’t draw then the worse my skills would tank, and then I’d have to build them back up all over again.
However… I spent so much time with friends and family, and it’s been great seeing them. I’ve started making time to just see them casually lately. I’ve been reaching out and asking to hang out. Me and one of my real world friends have been binging Naruto and that’s been fun. Another friend and me have been playing Pokemon Emerald side by side. I’ve been having so much fun lately. Honestly, I forgot what life is like for me when I’m not drawing and staying to myself all the time.
I feel like I’ve been on an unplanned vacation for these past couple weeks. I’m starting to feel the urge to draw again, and I do plan on getting back to that very soon, but I also want to keep this improved social life thing going at the same time.

December 2023 Check-in
Posted 2 years agoHeya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my commission queue & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Commissions & Plans —
I’m not actually doing commissions at this time, despite the title of this section. Last journal I mentioned wanting to do other things like YCH auctions. Well I just recently finished holding my first YCH auction on Discord and it went very well! I liked how active the bidding immediately became in the text channel. I feel like it was a success, and I’m excited to do another one probably in January.
I still don’t have any plans to open for normal commissions again any time soon. Something I might try more is doing sketch commission for subscribers on Patreon/Subscribestar. I don’t have a plan for when I would do that, but I’ve done them before and it’s always fun~
The animation I posted got me a lot of new subscribers and that was awesome! A lot of people signed up and then paused their monthly sub immediately; I think they just wanted to see the animation. That’s fine, because I’ll make more animations, and maybe they’ll resume their monthly pledge to see the new thing. :3
I put up a vote for high tier subs about a month ago asking what to animate next, and it looks like I’m going to animate some Mila stuff that isn’t oral for once.
I still think I can switch to making my living off of animating and making YCHs.
I’m also still making the comic commission for Warden I mentioned in other journals. I may begin posting pages for that soon, and keep the next few pages for subs only.
— Ideas —
I think I’m figuring out how to come up with better ideas for YCHs. I like ideas that let people feel like their characters are part of the same world as my characters. Like they’ve always been there and are now crossing paths. I now have a bunch of ideas, and the hard part now is picking which idea to go with for the next YCH. I know Mila is the most popular of my characters, but I do want to try some YCH ideas with other characters of mine.
After I animate the next thing with Mila, I know the following animation I want to make will involve Lantha. She has a lot of assets I haven’t made use of yet~
— General Updates —
I’m working on adding more personality to my drawings. I’m getting inspired from other artists do things I want to do. I see them adding little bits of dialog that add personality. I see them framing stuff in comics a certain way to make drawing more stuff easier.
Related to that, I think when I draw comics, I sometimes draw too much detail in a single frame, or I could have broken one complex panel up into multiple simpler panels. I might draw out the full body of a character in one panel doing multiple things with their body, when I only needed to draw a couple panels zooming in on the body parts doing the interesting things. The panels show clearly the things I want to emphasize.
I have an idea that each panel on a comic page has a specific focus. In other words, each panel has its own purpose. You draw things in that panel to emphasize what you’re focusing on. But that also means it’s possible to add too much stuff into a single panel, and then you lose that focus.
This makes me want to add side panels into my casual drawings. I’ve already started experimenting with this a bit.

November 2023 Check-in
Posted 2 years agoHeya there~

- the state of my commission queue & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Commissions & Plans —
I finished all the commissions in my queue, so I am free to do other things now. I don’t think I’ll open for more commission slots just yet. I have other things I want to try out, and right now feels like a good time for that.
One thing I want to try is selling more Your-Character-Here auctions. I’ve sold those here and there in the past, but never made a habit out of it. I think they could end up being a very helpful source of income for me! Up until now, I’ve sold YCH auctions mainly on FA, and those have worked very well for me. The last one I sold was on Inkbunny, but that one didn’t do as well as I was hoping. I got a lot of people asking me if they needed accounts on IB to participate, so I think I might not do IB for future auctions.
I want to try selling some YCHs on Discord. I’d probably make a channel for auction bidding and see how that goes. Yes, I do have a public Discord server btw. I’ll link that here.
discord.gg/b82WtKa
I’m also interested in animating a lot more than I already do. I’ve been inspired to animate after chatting with other animators recently. Every time I make a normal drawing, I think about how easy it would be to animate some movement for it. I started testing out making some animations in private and it’s been great!
I actually just finished the visuals for a 1.5 minute animation with like 6 scenes. I’m figuring out how I want to add sounds to it currently. I would love to see my income from subscriptions go up enough for me to live off making animations.
— Ideas —
Coming up with good YCH ideas is going to be interesting. For drawing in general, I usually sit down and just draw whatever I want to see, which tends to be a solo-focus on one of my characters. But a YCH needs to have room to see the other person’s character in addition to mine, because they’d be mating or something, and people like seeing their character’s face in the pic. The burden of coming up with the interesting ideas is on me now, and it’s challenging, but also fun.
Christmas is coming up, so I was thinking up some fun YCH ideas for that recently.
For the animation ideas I’ve been coming up with, they’re each only 1, 2, or 3 different loops, and they focus on a single character. The loops would also have some variation in them like blinking, closing eyes, changing expression, etc.
For examples, one is small Mila getting used like a fleshlight. Another is Lantha taking it in the rear. I want to do more penetrative stuff around the pubic area. I feel like I mostly animate BJs and stuff like that, and I want to try other things.
— General Updates —
I have begun removing my old art from FA in accordance with their policy update. Only the oldest artworks have been removed so far, but those were going to be the hardest for me to do anyway, because of my emotional attachments. Now that I’m past that, I can move on to removing the other stuff that needs to go too, which is going to be a lot.
I don’t know how long I have to remove them before FA starts having an issue, but I’m hoping they give me at least the same amount of time that they got to respond to my trouble ticket, which was about 3 months.
I recently got set up on Subscribestar, so anyone who wants to support me there can now do so. I set that up because I acknowledge there are people who just don’t use Patreon, which is where I have operated exclusively for my subscriptions and private content since 2016-ish. But since joining Substar, I have found other things I like about the platform. For example, I can actually post my content on the website. Patreon won’t let me post size-difference stuff because the characters look too cute/young, but Substar is chill about that. I’ll put a link to my Substar below if you are curious about signing up~
https://subscribestar.adult/milachu92
Lately, I feel on the precipice of change. I’m going to be potentially changing a lot of things for a long time to come. Making animations more, less slot commissions, more YCH auctions, using Subscribestar more, etc. I feel full of potential, and I’m at the crossroads ready to choose where to go. Let’s see what happens!

— Commissions & Plans —
Commissions are going well. For the most part, I’ve been completing them at the rate I wanted to achieve, which is about 2 commissions and 1 comic page per week. I fell behind on that recently because I took a sudden trip out of state; I didn’t have time to draw much during that trip, so I went 5 days without drawing, which is bad. If I go too long without drawing, I slow down a lot. As a result, the past couple days have made me very slow. I hope to get back to my normal drawing speed so I can continue to make commissions at my target rate.
When I slow down like this after not drawing for a while, one of the best ways I’ve found to build up drawing speed again is to work on personal stuff. This works out for me because I want to draw my characters dressing up for Halloween. I know what their costumes will be already. I want my characters to each have their own image showing off their costumes. I haven’t been writing dialogue as much lately and I miss that, I feel it adds a lot of personality to my drawings and characters, so I will try to use dialogue and/or other methods to get the idea across that these are their costumes for Halloween. The drawings should convey that on their own without a description telling the viewer that it’s a Halloween costume. And then I want to bring my characters all together for a group pic, kinda like I did back in 2021 with the pic of Mila, Lantha, Buttons, and Milo with their pumpkin head, Bunneary, “other Buttons”, and plague rat costumes.
Past the costume ideas, I also really want to get into animation more. I recently made a simple loop of Mila playing the skin flute again, but I noticed it only took me like 2 hours to sketch and color. I already have a few more personal animations in the works; one is half done, and two are fully planned-out ideas. I want to make more animations, and make multiple scenes, and get voice acting, and sound effect. I’m very excited to try it out more!
— Ideas —
I’ve been thinking lately about a different way of making my income. Currently 1/3 of my income is from Patreon, and 2/3 comes from making commissions (where people send me their ideas and I draw them for money). But what if I made more YCH pics, and held more auctions? I could do auctions on Discord pretty easily. I might also get a new crowd of people pop up who have the spending money for art but also don’t want to come up with a commission idea all on their own first - maybe they’d prefer that I come up with the idea, and then they pay to be inserted in the drawing. I don’t know how many people are like that who follow me. And I won’t really know until I try doing more YCH auctions, and doing them in the right place, and advertising the auctions properly. This could replace normal commissions for me, at least for a while. I’d still want to have a way people can order normal commissions from me, even if I only sell sketches or something.
Since doing auctions for YCHs would take way less time than making a bunch of normal commissions, like I do currently, I’d have more time to work on other things. I could use that time to lean into making more personal comics and animations. And I could tease comics to the public to get people to join my Patreon. I’d love to have a lot more people join my Patreon just to get access to my own personal work like that.
— General Updates —
I got my trouble ticket back from FA recently for my gallery review. I need to begin removing pretty much 80-90% of my FA gallery soon. All the work I remove from FA will go up on my Itaku. I am sad, because I’ll miss the old comments people left me on FA. Also, the first submission I ever posted with Mila was on FA. That one has to go, and pretty much all my other old work has to go too.
Right now feels like a weird time to be a nsfw furry artist, but certainly for me in particular. I started out mainly on FA and Tumblr many years ago, and now both of those places no longer want to host the kind of art I draw. I mainly moved over to Twitter, and then got comfortable there as my main site for some years. Twitter has a lot of engagement, and I got a way bigger following there than anywhere else by a lot. But now I see people with art like mine being anxious and getting set up on other sites that are friendly to our art but also are much less popular. Twitter has been making a lot of changes that are negatively impacting artists like me, such as shadow-banning nsfw accounts, and showing less and less nsfw art in the default feed tab for many users. I don’t know what to do. Should I keep driving people to my Twitter where I have the huge following, or should I drive people elsewhere? And what other places are there?
The two most popular other platforms I’m seeing people move to are Itaku and Bluesky. I have accounts on both of these places. Personally, I like Itaku a bit more, because it’s still somewhat easy to post to, and it has robust gallery organization which I enjoy. I can’t tell which one is more popular with other people. Bluesky has a familiar layout; you can post stuff there faster, but you can’t post videos or GIFs yet, and you still need an invite code to join. If I had to pick one, I’d say Itaku; it has the refined tagging system of e621, it has a feed like Twitter, it’s free for anyone to join, and it has a gallery system like FA’s. I’d love to see it get a dedicated mobile app some day!
At the end of the day, my goal is to make a living drawing what I love for you all. I appreciate those of you who read these! Thank you! :3
