I realized something rather detrimental today...
Posted 15 years agoI can't shade for shit. I've been using the damn blur tool in photoshop cs5, but it's a really crappy way for me to shade and while I can shade fur decently enough with the multiply mask and burn tools in ps, I can't shade dragons or scalies to save my life... Which seriously wounds my chances of doing a good job on the commissions I have for my Iron Artist Challenge because the first three that were ordered are dragons and reptiles...
If anyone has a quick tutorial on shading smooth skin like scales, that would be nice... Cause while the shading Feverdog/Astral Moon showed me is nice for fur... I can't make it work for the scales. This sucks and I'm getting more frustrated by the minute. To the point where I saved an extra copy of the drawing just so I could scribble on it and take my anger at myself out on it. FML big time...
Someone give me a simple scale shading tutorial! For the love of all that is holy, help! Cause I can't find one here or on google. >/ Fucking google...

Posted 15 years agoHey guys, thanks so much for commissioning! I'm going to be posting up the status of your art here so that there will be no need to ask in the future! ^_^ Just covering bases at this point in case I left any information out. I don't care for getting notes asking about art progress. ^_^;;; I don't think anyone does. So, I'm allowing myself a time period of about... 2-3 pieces finished each week (to me a week is five days, weekend is two. I go by my school schedule. XD). I think that sounds about right. Get a piece done, rest, do another. So... yeah, 2-3 pieces done a week. And weekends are random cause it's however late I stay up doing this stuff cause I can't sleep. XD Okay, here's the status of pieces!!!

Step 1

*How did you find furry?
I used to pretend to be an animal when I was little and that drove me to writing stories about talking animals. Eventually it evolved into me giving them some human anatomy, soooooooooo... I thought about how cool it would be to be an animal and I started to looking up stuff on the net and found anthro first, then the furries, then yiff. ^_^;;
*What's your reason for furry (what interested you to get into the community)?
As the above said, I thought it would be cool, since I pretended to be one all the time.
*What's Furry to you?
One pulling from the basic animal instincts all of us have. Furries just use them more than others. ^_^
*If someone found out you're a furry and asked you about it how would you respond?
I would explain it in the above words!
*What are your favorite aspects of our community?
The warmth of the family you choose. ^_^ My sweeties, Shira, Cid, Tora, and Rini and a few others!

*How strongly do you feel about anyone bashing you yourself for your interest based on the media's aspect of what furry is?

I do love some of the weird things that float around, feetpaws, tails, other such minor oddities. ^_^ Nothing seriously odd for me though. But I still love the furs who do!

I have one basic one and a few that aren't really public because they represent personal parts of my life and personality.
Fuze is the main one. She is me in all aspects. A wolf because I would prefer to live in a family, but freedom is my thing. An ibex because I do get a little jittery, and a bat because I can see almost perfectly in the dark even though I fear it.

Hmmmm... I have a slight thing for f/f and m/m. ^_^
