Surprise FA:U trip.
Posted 9 years agoLooks like I'll be going down there on Saturday with Origami. Will be bringing my PC/Rocksmith (no retro stuff, Rock Band, JS Joust). Will be seeing how things go, I've heard very meh things about their gaming from a few people, undoubtedly because I'm not involved in the con.
Anthrocon soon.
Posted 9 years agoNot going to post a meme. I'm going to AC (13th year in a row), I'll be in the VG room most of the weekend. Arriving Wednesday, leaving Mon, staying at the Westin. Not into partying, will be going to karaoke at Images on Thursday. Running a few tournaments, they've been announced on the forums.
If anyone is looking for floor space, let me know. Preferably somewhere other than this site, but I'll try to check FA more often.

Missing: two copies of Smash Wii U (update -- one found).
Posted 9 years agoYay, I'm back on FA!
And in other news, I'm missing my two copies of Smash Wii U. The entire room has been searched, both the copy in my CD book and the extra copy in its own case are gone. Nothing else (to my knowledge).
If you know who might have taken them, or you yourself might have taken them, please return them. I run my meet every month at no cost, so a bunch of furs can meet each other and hang out and enjoy all the things I've been collecting for years. The meet has been going on for almost a decade and this has never happened, and I'm willing to just forgive and move on if they're returned. Please get the word out if you can. I bring them to cons for people to use, and bought pretty much all the DLC just so everyone else can use it.
And if it turns out that, somehow, both copies are found here because someone put them in the most confusing and out of place spot imaginable (up on top of a dusty shelf? toilet tank?), I'll let everyone know.
UPDATE -- One copy has been found. Was accidentally taken home in the same case as someone else's copy of Smash from Fur the 'More. Still hoping the other turns up.

Want to run a gaming event at Fur the 'More?
Posted 9 years agoSo far, we have tour tentative gaming events at Fur the 'More, all video gaming (Tetris Attack, Katamari, Amplitude, and Tetris Grand Master). As much as we love putting on an awesome diverse gaming department for everyone, we need YOU to get excited, tell us what you want to see, and maybe even offer to run something. I'm not twisting your wrist to do this, it has to be something you personally would enjoy doing.
We'll still have lots of open gaming, and many different video/card/tabletop games for you to choose from, and if that's what you prefer, we're fine with that. But if anyone comes up and complains there's no tournaments, don't know what I'll tell them other than 'why didn't you offer to run it?'. We need people to get involved.

Rocksmith 2014/Amplitude
Posted 9 years agoPlaying both at the moment until the Rock Band Jan. update (which will wipe the leaderboards to fix a scoring glitch). Loving the challenge, if anyone wants to add me on PSN for Amp scores, I'm MiltoniusPrime there (like everywhere). If anyone wants to play Rocksmith with me, bring over a guitar or bass.

Looks like it's going to be a pretty big month so far, some new locals via Facebook. Please carpool if you can, space shouldn't be super tight but it's more convenient for anyone leaving.

Regarding the gaming meet.
Posted 10 years agoSo, you're thinking of attending the meet, getting to know some local furs, do some gaming? Please keep a few things in mind.
~~~ BE RESPECTFUL ~~~
Of your surroundings, of other people, of yourself. Practice decent hygiene, clean up any messes you make, don't leave controllers and games all over the place. Don't make things awkward/uncomfortable for others if you can help it, respect personal space, if someone is unwilling to talk don't push them to do so. I want anyone who attends to feel welcome regardless of who/what you are, as long as you can be respectful too. Don't be too vulgar if you can help it
~~~ IF YOU HAVE ANY PROBLEMS... ~~~
Talk to me. If you have a problem with someone, bring it up to me. If it's a pressing matter, I'll address it. If it's a problem with someone else, let me know how serious it is. If it's a pressing matter, something dire, serious, I'll take care of it. But if it's a problem that can be solved by just ignoring someone and not taking something so seriously, please do so and don't turn it into something unnecessarily major. Nobody HAS to get along, as long as you're not going out of your way to be negative toward them. We're adults.
~~~ BUT PLEASE KEEP IN MIND ~~~
This is my home and my belongings. I like meeting new people and seeing everyone having fun, but it can get mentally taxing being around a big group. As much as I enjoy hosting something like this, I don't have the energy/attention to make it a personal experience for each person. You're welcome to play whatever you want, but I'm likely just going to wander around, playing whatever catches my interest. I appreciate the offer to play ___, but I'm not always in the mood for everything. I like seeing you have fun, but attending doesn't make me your friend by default. It's not my obligation to buy games specifically for your tastes, or provide food/drinks for you. A little drinking is fine, but don't get drunk and make it awkward for everyone (especially me). I'm not a dating service, I'm glad you met someone you like but I don't want to see you getting personal on my furniture (especially my bed). If you reach a point where you don't feel comfortable attending, possibly due to another attendee or some other issue, I'm sorry to hear that but I respect your choice.
~~~ IN CONCLUSION ~~~
If anything needs clarification, please let me know. I've kept this going almost ten years with minimal stress and drama, I'd rather not change that now.

September gaming meet -- FurSVP page up.

We're having Tokyo Sushi and Cici's as options this month, maybe we'll explore others in the future. Tokyo Sushi turned out pretty well last time, but I'd understand if anyone wasn't in the mood for Asian cuisine/didn't have the funds (though it's not too expensive, beef udon for about $10).

Location change for this month's gaming meet. Important.
Posted 10 years agoThe majority of us will be at Tokyo Sushi this month, located in the same strip mall as Cici's. You're still welcome to meet at Cici's if you're not a fan of sushi/Asian cuisine, or go elsewhere, we'll still be aiming for a 7pm return to my place. I'll try to check in at Cici's on Friday to see if anyone missed this message or the ones I tweeted.
Deciding on new location for meet.
Posted 10 years agoI've been becoming increasingly unhappy with the quality/space issues at Cici's (not that quality was ever very high, but it's enough that I'm saying something), so we're looking into new locations. Trying to pick something that won't be over $15, which feels like a reasonable price to eat somewhere for ~2 hours, and will still be relatively close to where I live.
So far, the ideas for this month are
- continue eating at Cici's
- Tokyo Sushi (what I'd probably pick)
- the Asian buffet over by the MVA
Or whatever you'd like to suggest. Has to be big enough to comfortable seat 20+ people (just in case we get a big crowd). Cast your vote via comment, doesn't mean we'll be sticking with that location forever (especially since Tokyo Sushi has that 'we're closing...at some point in the future' hanging over them), but I'd enjoy some variety this month.

Gaming meet on Friday; new guy needs ride; roommate for AC.
Posted 10 years agoSorry for the late post, things are back to normal post-Fur the 'More. Same day, time, location. Cici's at 5pm, then back to my place around 7.
Might have a new guy coming from Elkridge this month (
WildUprising93), curious if someone might be able to arrange a ride with him.
Also, still looking for roommates for AC. Completely serious about the no drama/partying/sex part, you have to be familiar with how much of a hardass I am about that, and if I don't think you're someone that'd work out, I'm going to tell you.

Looking for AC roommates/passenger for the drive.
Posted 10 years agoThat's right, I'm looking for a couple of roommates, and one passenger. Gotta be familiar with what a hardass I am about no partying/sex/idiocy in the room. I'm staff, I'm working all weekend, don't have time for bullshit. Westin, Wed to Mon, $180~. Preferably no suiters, but I'd make an exception if I know you're not going to throw shit everywhere. I don't want to walk in on anyone getting drunksick, and I goddamn better not find anything on the toilet seat.
Also looking for someone to drive up with, I'm fine driving the whole way, your job is to help with gas/parking garage fees, put up with my taste in music, and don't get carsick. There will be a Sheetz stop on both trips. Semi-limited space (I'm bringing a bunch of gaming stuff). Would drive with my normal guy but his con schedule doesn't match up with mine.
Send a note if you're interested.

Anthrocon questionnaire.
Posted 10 years agoWhere are you staying?
At the Westin (staff perks woo).
What day are you getting there?
I'd like to say early afternoon Wednesday, since my check-in is that day.
How are you traveling?
In my Honda Civic.
Who will you be rooming with?
A couple of friends and friend-of-friend.
How is the best way to find you?
Fool-proof way: go to the VG room. I'll either be there or will be back shortly. Otherwise tweet me.
Are there any panels you might be attending?
I'm running a few tournaments, and not sure if there's a MDfurs meetup or anything.
What do you look like?
Tall-ish, skinny (working on the stomach, I miss having abs), long hair that tends to be tied up to keep it out of the way, tight pants.
Will you be suiting?
Nah.
Do you do free art?
I drew the Gameshark logo in a guy's book at Fur the 'More.
Do you do trades?
Not bringing any duplicates of games with me.
Do you do badges?
FRANKLIN BADGES *GUFFAW*
If you have an Artist's Table, what will you be selling?
Not applicable.
What is your gender?
Comfortably male.
How tall are you?
A few hairs under 6'.
Can I talk to you?
Of course, if it's about something with a point, I'm happy to respond. If you ramble and I'm distracted by staff work or Rock Band, less likely.
Can I touch you?
A hug is fine. Anything more depends on how long I've known you.
How can I find you?
VG room.
Can I visit your room?
You can visit the VG room.
Can I buy you drinks?
Sure, I accept various flavors of Mike's and Smirnoff Ice (green apple please).
Can I hug or snuggle with you?
Hugs are fine.
Are you nice?
I'm not 'nice'. I'm either an awesome person who loves to talk about video games/music or that guy who ruined your weekend by telling you not to break my controllers.
Do you have an artist table?
Still no.
Will you be going to parties?
Unlikely, VG closes at (1am?) and I'm going to try to get some sleep so I can be a good little worker.
If I see you, how should I get your attention?
Say my name (say my name, you actin' kinda shady, and callin' me baby)
Can I come with you for food/fun/etc?
If you're not desperate/annoying, sure. I'm all about being relaxed, and I love food.
Can I look in your sketchbook?
I might bring a big dry erase board for the VG Room.
Can I draw in your sketchbook?
Sure, you can probably draw on it.
Can I take your picture?
YES PLEASE. Need more pictures of me at cons.
What's your goal(s) for the con this year?
Hang out with friends, play a ton of Rock Band, meet new people.

Post-#furmore15 wrapup.
Posted 10 years agoThis year was infinitely less stressful than previous. Easily the lowest-stress video game room I've ever dealt with, in equal parts due to other staff/volunteers and the attendees being patient and eager to enjoy themselves.
If anyone has any feedback on either side of gaming, or the con in general, PLEASE TELL US. Post it below if it's something I can respond to personally, and I'll do so.
GONNA DOLE OUT SOME THANKS. If I forget you, apologies, and I'll update the list.
- Kit/Irime: Thank you again for continuing to do this, giving me an outlet to see a bunch of happy weirdos play all the games I don't have the time or motivation to play.
- Other non-gaming staff: I barely saw you at the con, which is fine considering you were doing all the non-gaming work, which is a strange alien world to me outside of the game rooms. I hope it went well for all of you, thank you for juggling the monotony, stressful moments, and occasional partying/stress relief.
- Fellow VG staff (Rally, Wag, Shady): Thank you for helping with setting up the room, helping the attendees, setting up games/consoles, bringing whatever you brought with you, running tournaments, and running the room when I'd get distracted and wander off to play Rock Band. You're a big part of why I continue to want to do this.
- Tabletop staff (BGS/Crux): Thank you for running a wonderful and inviting tabletop room despite having half as many TT staff as we were hoping for. Any time I walked in, everyone was well-behaved, multiple games were going on, and everyone was having fun. And it even looked like you guys were enjoying it too. We'll definitely have more TT staff next year so you can go off and do what you want sometimes.
- Volunteers (Rachael, Loki, Valeyard and others): Thank you so much, you guys jumped in and helped when we were stretched a little thin, did the table work, kept an eye on things, and made it all much less stressful and more fun for the rest of us.
- Turtyl/Kiric: Thank you for running Smash and bringing the boxes of supplies from Anthrocon, glad Turtyl got some time to play Taiko and Skykid.
- Artslave: Thank you for being similarly fucked up and willing to rant about all the confusing bullshit we have to deal with in our respective niches.
- Rexxie/Strawbunny: Thank you for helping with the Marylandfurs meet, a ton of people showed up, we got them all talking/socializing, and we kept it fun while I shoved a burrito into my face.
- Hospitality suite: Thank you for having delicious food that people could deliver to me, because feeding off of Rock Band and the warm glow of people playing video games isn't always the most nutritious option.
- Icepaws: For vigorously blowing me in times of need, it was well worth the $20
- Isatis: Thank you for running Project M and offering the wifi hotspot, I hope the weekend went well for you.
- Colin, Ruby, Jollimus: Thank you for coming out to your first furry convention, I'm glad I could tempt you to do so, possibly by going "I'm running Rock Band all weekend, and there won't be 45-minute waits between songs".
- Whoever set up the Twitter feed: Thank you for giving me an outlet for being antsy/bored during a long-sit down that doesn't involve yelling and directly interrupting.
- Everyone who brought games/consoles (Travis, Veronica, Wag, Rally, Amaretto, Strawbunny, Turtyl & Kiric): Thank you for trusting us to take care of everything, at least a bit of what everyone brought got used, and we appreciate that you're willing to bring expensive/difficult to find things (two copies of Earthbound!) so that other people can try them out.
- Everyone in the game rooms: Thank you for enjoying yourselves! There were some issues that we can easily fix for next year (not having paper sign-ups for tournaments, the room being too warm, IIDX being next to Rock Band), we definitely want more of your feedback. What did you like? What did you dislike? What games would you want to see? We'll do what we can to have even more to play next year.

Hoping to see me at Fur the 'More?
Posted 10 years agoI'll be in the game rooms for most of the weekend, mostly in VG and occasionally in TT to check on things.
If you want to see me/hang out, probably best to tweet me, cell reception sucks in the hotel, but will be connected to wifi.
Arriving sometime tomorrow afternoon, VG room setup Thursday. Badge pickup is that night, not having official gaming til Thursday night (since you need badges to take out games), may have some Rock Band running.
