So... my last journal post was dated to 8 years ago, so I figured it's about time for an update. So... hi!

A lot has changed in the last few years. I went through university, got my degree in Digital Media (specializing in interaction design), worked a few years in Boston, had a brief stint selling Pokemon fanart, decided to move to Japan and became an English teacher. Now I'm here, living in Tokyo with my fiancé, working as a teacher and making my first full-scale video game in my spare time.

The game is called Alterland, and the characters are based on a few different characters I created back here in my original FA days! Here's where you can see more:

Meh, just another slight update.

I've been trying so hard to do arts to post recently. ;o; But I have so much homework... and so many video games to play... (shhhh, I'm aware I'm a bit of a nerd) Also for some reason I have no energy to comment on people's stuff recently, and this I greatly regret, as I've seen some excellent stuff recently. I shall blame art schoolzorzzz. :D

I was contemplating uploading some of my favorite things that I've created in my art classes so far. Would that be okay? Or should I just focus on doing fun things, like all those giftarts for people I've been trying to complete? Who knowwwsss :o

Tis been a crazy school year so far.

I keep meaning to find some way to upload some things I've drawn at school... But most of them are on HUGE paper and I have no camera of my very own. :( So sad.

But that might change soon, since this Friday is my 20th birthday :D Though I won't be having a family birthday until next week... This week I stay at my apartment and have people over for awesome fun times. Next week I go home to my crazy island for cake.

Okay, so, for next fall I applied to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth as an art major.

Okay, I know, I know I haven't been very active here. The reason has been that during the moving process from school back home, I seem to have stupidly lost my tablet stylus. I ordered another one and it finally arrived today... Although it's been a very annoying process since the new pen cost about $70 (I hate spending money) and for over two weeks I haven't been able to do any art on the computer... Including the very important art I have to finish for my portfolio as part of my application to art school. -__-;;

But now it's here! And I can do art again! I have to concentrate on my portfolio work for a little bit, but I swear I'll be back and posting soon! I will, really!

...I just have lots of catching up to do. -_-

So I'm back on the crazy little island I call home. The weather's crappy, it's way too cold to be May, the nights are much darker and quieter, and I have to teach myself how to go to sleep before 4am and/or get out of bed before 2pm.

It's not that bad being here. It's just odd getting used to it all again. I've grown so accustomed to my surroundings being filled with the sound of college freshman running around, laughing drunkenly, playing music and having loud sex, all echoing around the hallways that were lit up 24-7. It had become so normal for me to stay up until 3-4am on a typical night (the latest I've stayed up is 9:30am) and sleep as long as I wanted. I liked having no obligations aside from my art and my weekly appointments. Here, at home, where I will be getting a job, a normal sleep schedule, leaving the house to see friends (but not to eat), and with parents who are struggling to see me as a budding adult.... It's just odd. xD

I'm not complaining, really. As long as I keep myself occupied and social I should be fine.

Packing's going to be quite the task. I've accumulated a lot of stuff over the year, and I have no idea what I'm going to do with it all... o__o;; I haven't even taken half my stuff out of the car yet and my room is still packed with duffel bags.

My computer's not out of the car yet; I have to clear off my desk before I can even set that up. So I probably won't be submitting much art for a few more days. I'll do my best to keep up with my comments and everything (125 submissions omg ;o; I guess I won't be keeping up with my ways of trying to comment on every submission in my messages. That seems kind of impossible). Hopefully I'll be back for real soon! Whoo.

Also.... If anyone else out there plays Pokemon Diamond or Pearl, we should totally hook up over the wireless thing! Well, once I get one of those Nintendo Wireless connectors... Hmm... Definitely should do that. Man I love that game. xD

I haven't had very much motivation to do art lately.

This is my last week before I go home from school, and it's been weird to think that I won't be back here until maybe January of next year... if that (I'm withdrawing from this semester and taking some time off of school, so I'll be living in an apartment with my mom - who's getting her Ph.D at UMass Dartmouth - and taking art classes until next spring). I've been a lot more social than I usually am for the past couple weeks, and I'm only now realizing how much I'm going to miss all the friends I've made here.

I know it'll be good for me to take the semester off, but I've also become closer to my friends here than anyone else I've befriended at home or otherwise (with one exception, but it helps that we go to neighboring colleges xD). Having people that really care about me has really helped me get through my freshman year, which has otherwise been pretty unpleasant.

It's not like I'll never see them again, though. I plan on visiting them at least once, and hopefully I can get them to come to the island (home) to visit me. Plus, one of the friends I met more recently actually will be working in my town over the summer, which will be pretty awesome. But still. ;o; I've gotten so comfortable here, without any obligations, friends around me, a healthy social life... It will be so strange going back to a place where I had essentially none of those. I'll find a way to survive, though.

SO AS FOR TRADES/ETC. I'm done with all my trades/commissions for the moment (a very good thing), but I think I'm going to have to put off my kiriban prize and/or make it less complicated than a full digital painting... Unless I get really into it. xD I'll still probably spout out random gift arts, but for the most part I want to focus most on the people here at school that I won't see for a few months. Hope you guys understand. <3 I still love you all!

Anime Boston was crazy... I'm glad I only attended it for one day. Not to say I didn't enjoy it, but that many crazed anime fans are a little more than I can take (FYI: I was the 12,939th person to register).

I did see some awesome costumes though, and even MORE awesome skits. Specifically a superbly creepy dance by a group of girls dressed up as the nurses from Silent Hill. Totally go watch it now. So I guess I'm inspired to do an even better costume for next year... Since not a soul in all those 13,000+ people recognized my costume. Oh well.

Speaking of cloth... things, I've been thinking of making some plushies of various characters. I want to practice first before I offer them to people as commissions, so I'll let you all know about that. It'll be fun, I think. :D

Also, if anyone is actually interested in commissioning me, let me know! I've never offered commissions before, so think of it as an exciting offer! I don't want to do badges until I get more material for them, but they'd probably be around $5-7, and and full digital paintings for maybe $15-20 depending on complexity.

So, computer's still dead, but it's getting there.
I've taken it to OIT (Office of Information Technologies) at my school, and the people there suggested a couple things that could be wrong. I could a) not have a big enough power supply for the amount of stuff I have in my computer, or b) Have some sort of software problem.
They suggested I try a couple of things, like taking out the RAM and putting it back in, that would kinda shake up the computer and make it which kind of resulted in madness... Like the computer decided to switch my primary and secondary hard drives in Safe Mode. But that's been fixed, though the original problem still isn't. Sigh. I'm bringing it back later today, and hopefully we'll make more progress.

So I'm back at school, where I should be able to do many wonderful arts of joy.
BUT...

My computer has decided to finally die on me. ;o; It doesn't start up anymore. It either keeps freezing and restarting itself during the whole DOS startup thing, or it gets stuck on the Loading Windows XP screen and stays there FOREVER.

It's done this a number of times before, but it's always eventually turned on... And I've never found out exactly why it does this. Even since my dad and I built it in fall '05 it's had sporatic problems... So it's probably a hardware thing. Question is, what the heck is malfunctioning? x___X If anyone has ANY ideas what could be going on I'm more than happy to hear them.

So... You probably won't hear very much from me until this problem is worked out. I still plan on completing any and all trades and things that I've started, I'll work it out somehow (I'll comondeer my roommate's computer or something xD). Luckily a couple of my good friends are computer wizards, so hopefully I'll be able to fix it sometime soon... Maybe... Y'know... -_-;

Home means any Photoshopping I do this week has to be on my dad's computer, which has no tablet.

I'm not used to using a mouse! Neeee! >_< If I get desperate enough I might just have to try installing my old tablet... And I'm not sure if that thing even works anymore. Hell if I know where the stylus for that thing is.

In other news, I just realized today that I've reached 500 pageviews! :D And I thought to myself, "That's so awesome! I've never gotten this kind of recognition/friendship on DeviantArt." So, I decided to compare stats.

I've been on DA for a total of around 39 months (since late December of '03... long times). There I have 3,570 pageviews, been faved 97 times, and received 438 comments.

Oh, and P.S....


I've been using my mom's laptop since I've been getting home, and... It's kind of crazy. The display is kind of weird. The colors seem dulled and brighter than they should be, and everything is stretched out horizontally. Like... look! Does that look strange to anyone else? I'unno. I wonder if it's fixable.

I miss my compyootah basically. ;o; Must... do... arts!

So... Right now... At 3amish.. I have decided I'm going to be crazy and draw a BIG picture with non-anthro versions of characters from every single person I'm watching.

...Luckily that's only 12 people right now. xD

It's gonna be a lot like my "Five Fabulous Furries" project from last year. Except more. And with a background this time. And even some... interaction between the peoples. :o But yeah. Why am I doing this? Just because... I friggin' love this site. And the people on it. They are wonderful.

I decided to replace one of the characters that I had originally intended to put in the picture, for lack of reference pics... Plus I don't really know the person well, I don't even think they're watching me xD
