I'm okay - Just playing catch up with life
General | Posted 5 years agoHey all. I haven't posted anything anywhere since beginning of January this year. I'm SO sorry - I know I worried quite a lot of you. As I'm a teacher, this year has been insane at best. As a full time graduate student AND a teacher - it's been more than insane. Oh, and you know - the Corona pandemic didn't help. So I taught from home and had to be available nonstop, and worked pretty much 16 hour days around my grad classes. I had to even take an incomplete and I'm still working on that class this summer.
SO... Yeah. I've been home pretty much since March when the schools were shut down. I leave sometimes for groceries, mask at all times out in public, and wash hands constantly!
The GOOD news is I've been getting to do more art on my ipad that I bought used a while back and never really touched. I've also lost a considerable amount of weight in the past few years, almost 80 lbs. I'm working on being my healthiest. It's helped enormously with the pain.
I also have recently worked more on my Pocket Girls Sword & Shield portfolio! I'm hoping to add a few more girls before I add it to the shop.
Stay safe, wash your hands, wear a mask, and I hope we all can be as healthy as possible.

Still negative 1k - taking pinups & comic offers...

So I'm terrified of existing at this moment in time, as I'm still negative 1k, my bank accounts continue to be overdrawn and fee-ing me up the ass, and I'm at my wits end with anxiety. I honestly thought about killing myself the past few weeks simply because the stress has been too much to handle.
I'm open to taking 50$ ink pinups during streams tonight and tomorrow.
I'm also taking offers on "taking over" the 17 page comic for a discounted price. You'd replace the characters with your own and I can change the pages to suit your wants. It's a growth/giantess and shrinking comic where one character is a tiny space alien, and the other is a scientist in a lab. The scientist part can be replaced with anything and any outfit. The alien can be whatever - as they crash their tiny ship into the person's home/workplace through a window. If you like micro/macro, smashed up buildings, feet, etc - this comic is for you. I can send all the thumbnail sketches to any interested parties.

General | Posted 6 years agoI'm still working at that dispute... and work, and bills, and life. Things have been insanely tumultuous lately and very stressful. My flu seems to finally be gone though I passed it onto my boyfriend and a few coworkers and friends (oops).

Client disputed a 17 page comic - I'm negative 1700+ dollars
General | Posted 6 years agoSo I've been busting my butt for someone, a client I hadn't worked with in over ten years because things had gone sour.... and he disputed and won his money back for a comic I've been working on. It's 17 pages of sketches, 6 completed inked pages, and a full cover image.
My paypal is negative $1718 and some coins. I cannot put food in my fridge or gas in my car.
I am clearly not going to be doing business with this person again. I should have trusted my gut and not worked with them, but I needed rent and bills paid and I was desperate.
Now here I am, unable to pay rent, or bills, and clearly I can't earn anything through paypal until I pay this negative balance.
I'm not sure what to do, but that this point I'm just shocked and stunned.

Updates: Have flu, recovering, my return to art

Teaching is tough but I enjoy it. Unfortunately I got the flu basically a day after I got my flu shot. So I've been sick for over a week. I'm getting used to my new schedule, and preparing to return to artwork (my shop, commissions, etc.).
I'll be going to bed much earlier, and probably only available on weekends.
My salary doesn't cover all my bills because teachers are meant to be poor and suffer, so commissions will have to continue being part of my monthly income, but to a lesser degree. New big projects will be unavailable until a later date, so save your ideas.
I hope to update my shop this week or upcoming weekend.

I've gotta pull miracles out of this air in time for rent in two days. I'm not sure when our first paycheck is, but it's going to be very small with tons of deductions for insurance, union dues, taxes, etc. They pull extra when the year starts too.
These next few weeks will be nearly impossible financially but I have to power through. In a month I should be safe from immediate problems.
As I'll be trying to adjust to my new job and time schedule, these will be the last commissions I accept for a while, barring sudden emergencies.

So I'm still struggling, but only this month and next left before I will see steady paychecks and stability for the first time in a long long time. Currently, rent is due ($850), internet is being shut off tomorrow ($150ish), dog needs food ($55), phone needs to be paid ($189), car insurance ($120) etc. etc. It's a struggle and I'm trying to pull in enough money to clear these hurdles that feel insurmountable. I've just gotta make it through two more months...!

Good News & Also Open to Limited Commissions
General | Posted 6 years agoSo I got a job as a substitute in another district. The pay is not great, but it's better than here so it's worth the drive each day. I'll be working for a little under a month, but it'll help both my resume and my wallet.
I'm interviewing for jobs and going to job fairs, applying for positions, etc. I'm determined to find a full-time teaching position for the fall.
I've gotta scrounge up money to keep my internet on and catch up on car payments, etc. Plus rent will be due before I know it. I won't see a paycheck until some point in June from subbing, so I've gotta keep going.
Hopefully things will keep getting better...!

Paypal lost my money sending it to my bank - so major $ need
General | Posted 6 years agoLong story short, I transferred money I earned last night to my bank account and it never arrived - my bank has no record of the transaction and paypal says it's gone on their end - so I have to have the bank's dispute department try to get my funds back tomorrow. It'll probably take a week or more to see that money come back, but rent and bills won't wait!

You can also get a science log style commission for 80$ a page, which includes close ups and medium shots of transformations and such in a scientific report format.
Just two more months of this bullshit and I'm done with the program, have my teaching licenses, and can move on - hopefully with employment come fall. Regardless, I've got to finish strong and keep the internet on, rent paid, and so on.

Sick turned into pneumonia... trying to make rent
General | Posted 6 years agoHi all. I wish i didn't have to push myself so much, but I can't take days off or do less with my deadlines and such...
So I have pneumonia now. Went to doctor yesterday, got xrays and some meds that might help.
I've got grades due for 450 kids by the end of this week ahead. The student art show is coming and I need to prep tons of artwork to hang. I'm rushing to write and or rewrite their next lesson plans for each grade. I'm doing a shitton for my tuesday night seminar class, including writing and reading assignments, gathering evidence, revamping my resume and professional stuff, etc.
I'll be around this weekend and week looking to fill emergency commissions to pay rent. I'll be finished by the end of May.
So I have pneumonia now. Went to doctor yesterday, got xrays and some meds that might help.
I've got grades due for 450 kids by the end of this week ahead. The student art show is coming and I need to prep tons of artwork to hang. I'm rushing to write and or rewrite their next lesson plans for each grade. I'm doing a shitton for my tuesday night seminar class, including writing and reading assignments, gathering evidence, revamping my resume and professional stuff, etc.
I'll be around this weekend and week looking to fill emergency commissions to pay rent. I'll be finished by the end of May.

Things are hard and I used up my school money to pay bills and get the phone/internet/etc turned back on. I have food for the time being, gas in my car, and I'm putting in over 100 hrs a week in school or on schoolwork/grading/etc. It's exhausting beyond comprehension, but I'm almost done.
I'm just past the half-way point in student teaching. I've had enough observations showing I'm proficient I could be licensed right now if I had enough hours put in - but I'm not there yet.
I have to go until mid-May, so just a little longer. I'm sorry I'm not actively around, streaming, etc. I don't even have time to reply to emails or do anything for myself. I'm just trying to get through this in one piece, alive, and relatively healthy.
Weekends are used for more schoolwork/paperwork/reports/grading/evidence/research/reflection/revisions and so on. Hopefully after next weekend I'll be available more often, as it was a difficult transition taking over more and more grades/classes from the current teacher in the school.
The kids are doing well and seem to like my lessons, especially those who generally never cared about art. I'm happy with the work they're doing, for the most part. I only have a few problem kids with sticks up their butts. The "bad kids" really like me because I made sure to connect with them immediately when I noticed how they acted, because they reminded me of my punk-ass when I was the same age. Other than the kids being too loud and rambunctious, the classes go well.
Any donations or store purchases or commissions bought helps me immensely - its all that's keeping my lights on and getting me through the days.
We all should celebrate when I'm done. It's all because of you. =) And a little bit of me. =P

Flu, Student Teaching, Leg in Cast, Rent Due

So I'm overworked for zero dollars - I teach 450 kids every 3 days (so 150 a day). My schedule is crazy, Tuesdays are 12 hour plus days because I have my seminar class after I teach all day, no breaks in between - just gotta hustle from school to school and swallow lunch #2 for dinner.
I need to earn money toward rent, badly - but I didn't plan to get the flu midweek and pretty much be dead on my feet. Got my knee injection on Wednesday afternoon, after teaching, and I've been extra sore from that.
I'm doing my best, but there's just not enough time in each day or night or weekends currently. I work about 60 hrs a week at the moment (and I'm paying the school for this 'opportunity' vs making any money at all) before you count my paperwork, grading, required class, and then trying to get art done or shower, make food, etc. I am trying to survive so badly and so hard, but I still feel like an abject failure.
Got more x-rays done on my foot/leg since it's not healing (or healing well). The foot isn't broken, but it seems like I basically ripped all the tendons from my ankle to my foot (twisted tear from back to around to the front). I'm in this stupid cast for unknown time now until I heal, doctor's orders.
If you buy shop items, commissions, or donate I would be so very grateful and thankful - I'm desperately trying to survive until I get some of my student loan money to help cover bills in a little over a month's time. I'm thankful that food stamps are back and hopefully there won't be any interruptions in eating....

Can include 'sticky note', an image of a sticky note with handwriting on it. You can provide the text or I can write it for you. A great alternative to comics for less!
