Fera what in the huh?
General | Posted 7 years agoOkay, this is gonna be kind of a rant, but a rant in the sense of easy listening music compared to heavy metal, in so far as that could possibly make any sense.
Am I weird for preferring ferals to anthros when I'm making werewolf characters? I know anthro werewolves are like a huge deal ever since The Wolfman came back when Bugs Bunny was still a novelty rather than an icon, but I dunno what it is with me. I get it, anthro werewolves are great, ask Lon Chaney Jr., but I really gotta say I prefer ferals. I'm not quite sure why. Maybe because it links back to old legends of werewolves better than Hollywood fueled anthros? I mean, there's nothing wrong with Hollywood fueled anything to a certain extent, but I feel like a feral werewolf character is more authentic, like this is more of what a werewolf is in the grand scheme of things. I'm not gonna get pretentious about sticking to the folklore 'cause if we did that fanatically we'd never get Dracula or The Mummy and losing them would be a blow to the human spirit, and let's face it, vampires are traditionally nothing like Bela Lugosi and there are no actual Egyptian myths about living mummies until Hollywood invented them and put Boris Karloff in charge of making it cool and scary, so I get the idea that you shouldn't always stick to the source material no matter what.
But when it comes to werewolves, my anus just clenches kinda sorta in so far as anything small like that is worth tightening your sphincter any hard than it is in a world where we have plenty of exponentially more serious problems, cough, Donald Trump, cough, but for me, the feral does it better. But I also have a thing for bigger than average ferals for my werewolves, like a monster wolf to be the real supernatural savage horror creature. That's cool, like an American Werewolf in London, that was great. But I also like it when the big monster wolf is the monster form and the wolf form is a mundane wolf and the human form is a mundane human and never shall the three meet except in so far as they're all the same creature of the night.
Okay, sorry, everybody, the air in my lair is getting heavy and my brain is getting foggy. Make of that diatribe what you will.
