RainFurrest and sketches and stuff!
General | Posted 15 years agoWell, I already went all-out epic in the journal over on my finished art page ( mongooseink) so I'll be a bit more laid-back here.
RainFurrest is coming up shortly, and I'll be making the trip back to my old hometown area for it, which should be a lot of fun. How I've missed the Pacific Northwest (Read: Washington. Oregon and Idaho can bite me) and it'll be great to be back. For those of you who I knew back in the day, I hope to see you again, and for new friends, I hope to see you, too.
As far as art goes, I'll be doing plenty at the con, anything from something rough and loose sketches all the way up to full, finished colored pieces, and badges, too. If you're feeling adventurous, check out my new, toony, "Alan Foster" style, which I'm happy to day I am really enjoying. Of course, my other styles will be available, too, as always, as will the whole N'duk the Hunter book series.
And, for those rare few of you who actually read this far, make sure to ask about the "secret bananas," when you see me at RF. Trust me, it'll be totally worth it.

Come on, admit it, you like Star Wars. Actually, no, you LOVE Star Wars! And you’ve always thought it would be so freakin’ cool to have a lightsaber or be able to do sweet Jedi tricks like telekinesis and stuff. You can’t fool me, I know you’ve imagined it!
And, while I can’t hand you a lightsaber, or make you one with the Force, I can do something almost as cool: I can make your character a Jedi! Or a Sith, if you’re feeling particularly evil, today.
Trying out a new style I feel I’ve just recently perfected, these will be in a high-end, animated style, with detailed backgrounds, but intricately cel-shaded characters. Not only can you be a Jedi or Sith, you can look like you’re in your own animated movie while you’re at it! So, if you’d like to use the Force, either light side or dark side, this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for! Full color, detailed background and cel-shaded characters, for the sale price of only $45 USD, but I’m only opening five slots for this sale.
I have to admit, I love Star Wars, so this is something I can really get excited about, and I promise to make sure my excitement really fuels some awesome pieces!

Here’s a bit more stripped-down version of the offer, the rules, and the rubber chickens, so read closely:
What you get:
* High-res scan of the pencil sketch of your character.
* The good feeling of giving me ten dollars.
The Rules:
* One character per sketch at this time
* Please, don’t ask for anything beyond PG-13. I might do R for some violence, but, not always. Please respect that.
* Don’t ask for a dragon unless you want it to look like crap. I suck at dragons. Period.
* No herms, please. They creep me out.
* Please no studio-copyrighted characters.
* If you have specific props you need in it, let me know, but bear in mind that this is a sketch, and maybe not everything will work out.
How it works:
* If you want a sketch commission, please send a NOTE with your idea, and any character descriptions or links to reference images you have. If you don’t have images, please try to offer a good description. The note MUST be sent to mongooseink. Notes sent to any of my other galleries for this offer will be ignored. Sorry, them’s the rules.
*I work on a first-come, first considered basis. This means that even though you might be the first person to note me, you might not get picked. I will choose the five requests that interest me most at this time. Please bear in mind that my mood is subject to change, but no, I don’t play favorites.

I realize I wasn’t too clear last time, so here’s a bit more stripped-down version of the offer, the rules, and the rubber chickens:

Yes folks, it’s finally time! After nearly a year of seclusion, the Mitch has returned and it’s time to celebrate! But how does the Mitch celebrate? With his first-ever $10 Sketch Commission Sale!
No, you’re not dreaming, so don’t pinch yourself (unless you’re into that sort of thing), it’s really happening. Following in the footsteps of nearly every other artist on FA, I’m going to open up FIVE, count ‘em, FIVE sketch commission slots at only $10 per each!
You might be asking yourself, “Where did I leave my keys?” and I can’t help you with that. But if you’re asking yourself, “How can I obtain one of these rare, sparkling jewel-nuggets?” I CAN help you with that!
If you send me a note on this, my mongooseink account, with what you want, and links to any character reference images, and if you’re able to PayPal me ten dollars, you can be in the running for a $10 sketch commission!
But wait, in the running, you ask? Yes, in the running. As you may have guessed, I’m not quite like a lot of other artists, and my commission queue works a little differently than most. Please read the following CAREFULLY for IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
My queue works on a “First-Come, First-Considered,” basis. This means that just because you might have been the first to send me a note, that doesn’t mean you’re guaranteed to get a commission. (Though you will have higher priority than those that follow.) I will then go through my incoming notes, and choose from among them the ones that most interest me, and that I feel I can do the best job on. If you don’t get picked, please don’t feel bad, my tastes change on a whim, so there’s a good shot that those who don’t get through this time will get through next time.
And before anyone starts to whine, let me say this, I DON’T PLAY FAVORITES. I WILL review the list from the first person to message me down to the last. The early birds have a better chance, but I may say, “I’m sorry, but not this time,” to some of them anyway. If you take a look through my gallery, you can probably get a good feel for what interests me. Here’s a hint: playing to the judge never hurts, but please don’t sacrifice what you want just because you think I won’t pick it. I want to know what you want me to draw, but please respect my choices of the five commissions I’m going to take this time around. It is never personal, I assure you.

I reserve the right to deny requests based on content. This means, please keep it at or under a PG-13 rating. Usually I’ll make exceptions up to R for action violence, but those don’t always suit me. And, sorry, no, I don’t draw herms, please don’t ask. And as warning, I REALLY, REALLY SUCK AT DRAGONS!
Don’t whine. If you whine, I will hold it against you in the future. Yes I know that contradicts what I said earlier, but if you whine and moan about not getting picked, that’s really not going to encourage me to pick you later. Let’s be grown-up about this, please.

Seriously, this weekend will be spent on finishing ridiculously overdue commissions, and getting some rest. Maybe in a few weeks, once I have EVERYTHING I owe done and squared away, I might be opening for some sketch commissions. We'll see.

So, that means that everything from here on out, starting with http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2420684 will be new, never before released sketch and concept work! I've got a ton of it that I'll be releasing over time, so I hope you enjoy what's to come! Please bear in mind that much of it will be character and concept work for my N'duk the Hunter book series, and maybe even sketches for the comic I'm trying to plan out.
