Question For Artists: Commission Advice
Posted 14 years agoIt's that time again, snow flakes, bone chilling cold, people showing faux courtesy and kindness to each other...Yep, it's Christmas.
But enough about that. Basically this is sort of an Q&A to artists who happen to be watching me and hopefully respond.
In short, Imma need sum moneys! So I'm asking advice and proper usage of transaction companies (Alertpay, Paypal, etc..) so that I may FINALLY start taking commissions. I've heard some serious horror stories dealing with both commissioners and certain transaction companies (*cough* Paypal *cough*) which was part of the reason for me not hopping on the band-wagon. But times are tough and I need some extra dough flying my way.
So ANY input and advice you guys have would be sorely appreciated!

Sonic Generations: Pro Skill Review
Posted 14 years agoSo what does Pro Skill mean exactly? Well, let me say this; Casual gamers who are just interesting in having fun and playing the game will have a blast with Sonic Generations. There are plenty of pathways for them to head through and lost of exploring to be had. With over 112 stages withing 9 Levels respectively there's a whole lot of game to peruse through.
Yeah...
But for the veterans out there, the one's who'll be S-Ranking up a storm and finding all the bits and pieces to be had this part here is for you.
So far I've played through all 9 stages (Including the extra missions) and have S-Ranked everything in between. Right now, I'm finishing up the extra (Challenge) mission for the last three stages before heading to boss land.
I love Sonic Generations, and have had loads of fun with it. So It's getting pretty tiresome having control and glitch issues with Sonic games at this level.
Now keep in mind, I'm playing the PS3 version. So i have no idea how it controls on other consoles.
Oh, it's fin at first when the levels aren't too complex and pretty straight forward, but once you hit Sky Sanctuary, you'll start noticing some pretty tale tale signs of control issues.
Classic sonic:
His levels will get unbelievably complex and labyrinthine later on in the game. When things are simple, he controls fine. But when you find yourself having to make multiple jumps while cruising at a reasonably fast pace on platforms that fall from under you, you'll notice the crucial control problem in the entire game.
The jump button lag. Oh, every other button works fine and intuitively, but the jump button for whatever reason, has suicide causing, S-Rank bunking, Red ring missing lag on it. This one flaw will be the bane of your play time when you are trying to make precise navigation through perilous pitfalls all for the sake of making good time.
Modern Sonic:
Not only does he suffer from the horrifying jump lag, but he also has an equally annoying but less fatal problem. The hover land. After you jump in the air, right before you hit the ground there is a split second before he actually connects with it. It's much more pronounced while your in movement. Basically, this causes you to do a sort of ground hover attack instead of a consecutive jump during a segment that requires intense platforming. This has lead to a great many frustrating deaths. Along with that, we have targeting glitches where despite the target being painted on screen you fly right past it, which are probably linked to the jump button lag issue since you use the same button.
Also, the game itself has a habit of freezing for a second during the more complex stages, while it doesn't happen often it has killed me more than once already. However, that may be a console issue. It may not happen if you install your game to the hardive.
despite those issues, I have had a wonderful time playing this game. everything else is pretty awesome. I do wonder sometimes who the hell is testing these games? I mean, they would have surely had to have run into these problems while play testing the game. :/

Need help!: What's the name of that animation?
Posted 14 years agoUPDATE: Macavity gave me the name.
:3
I don't have any video or know the name (Obviously) or even have pics to go from. I only have one faint memory of it.
It was in that 70s style of animation like Fritz The Cat or Shame of The Jungle. It seemed like it was in a caveman setting. One thing i remember vividly, is one of the cavemen dudes jumping up in the air and stabbing some giant creature in the ass with a flaming spear (I think?).
Any Ideas?

DC's New 52 Arc: Too hot for teens?
Posted 14 years agohttp://www.badassdigest.com/2011/10.....pe-of-starfire
I ran across this blog while digging up some info on the New 52 story arcs. The comments about sexuality seemed quite extreme (especially the author's comments about Starfire) so of course I had to check them out. XD
He goes on to talk about Misogyny in comics and such. An argument that has raged in the Nerdverse for eons. The comments he made about his issues with the content shocked me quite a bit, and upon checking his claims, I myself found them to be MOSTLY butthurt honestly.
About the only thing I came close to agreeing with this guy on, is the direction they decided to go with Starfire. What the hell happened there? Starfire is basically Marvel's version of She-Hulk, which basically means she sleeps around a lot (I'm sure there's a much positive way to spin that, but I'll leave it to someone with more poetry in their soul). Now that was BEFORE the New 52 arc. Now, and I quote directly from Red Hood in the comic itself..."Turns out that Tamaraneans (Starfire's Race) Don't see humans as much more than sights and smells. They have a terrible short attention span about all things Earth. seriously, When you get a chance, ask her about the gang you used to hang out with....Nothing.(He's Talking about the Teen Titans/Titans)"
Then about a panel later, she asks if Red Hood's partner wants to have sex with her the moment he steps away....Wow. O_O I'll admit, that's a pretty lame way to reboot her. however I don't think it's quite as extreme as the blog author's comments.
...."Starfire is a woman who is memory impaired, who doesn’t know the person she’s sleeping with and is fully open to suggestion from men. She’s the first Rohypnol superheroine. Scott Lobdell has turned Starfire into a metaphor for date rape. Not just that a CELEBRATION of date rape. See, she’s so willing to fuck that she just goes from Red Hood to his good buddy Arsenal. Everybody gets a shot at that Tamaranean pussy. Hell, even a little kid in the comic gets his rocks off by filming Starfire as she endlessly poses in a teeny bikini on the beach."...
Everything else he mentioned is pretty tame stuff though...To me anyway. I dunno, I know of the DC and Marvel universes, but I don't live and breath it so to hell with me I guess. XD
What do you guys think? has anyone checked them out yet?

Sonic Generations: Sucks for you if you live in the U.S.
Posted 14 years agoThis nifty Collector's Edition of Sonic Generations is so ONLY for Europe and Australia. What's in it? A LOT of swag. Really sweet swag that I'd love to get my hands on;
-A collectible figurine featuring both classic Sonic and modern Sonic
-An individually numbered commemorative "Gold Ring"
-"20 Years of Sonic Art" book
-"20th Anniversary Sonic Soundtrack" featuring tracks handpicked by Sonic Team
-"History of Sonic: Birth of an Icon" documentary
-Limited edition lenticular packaging
-Bonus additional downloadable content
I suppose you could import the PS3 version (The PS3 is region free, so games from various regions work perfectly fine on it). That could end up being quite pricey though. After shipping, currency exchange, and the fact the games usually cost more outside the U.S., you could be looking at a pretty steep bill.

Oh, dear..DISCUSSION Time.
Posted 14 years agoI ran into this video on youtube. It's from the new Deus Ex game that just came out featuring an NPC named Letitia. Now, I'm a pretty low brow guy, hence the onslaught of anthropomorphic and human porn spewed out by myself. But, well...Just watch this vid. Now however you feel about this character's mannerisms, PLEASE, lets all be civil and above all be honest. If it don't understand what the fuss is about, that's perfectly fine. We all are going to see this in different ways that's only natural given the different cultures we all hale from.
AUP Update...
Posted 14 years agoNothing on it affects me. But it just seems like some the rules are becoming unnecessarily complicated.

Firefox 4.....
Posted 14 years agoSlow browser is slow. I checked the forums, and there seems to be a way to fix it. But my thing is, I don't feel like going through a bunch of stuff just to get a browser of all things to work properly.
I'm also aware that a lot of you out there have had no problems whatsoever. This always happens with firefox for some reason.
I'll wait for another update. They're still supporting 3.6 for a while, so I'm sticking with that.
GOOD GOD!! O___________O
Posted 14 years agoSweet crap! The internet just fucking exploded!! Apparently they just killed Osama Bin Laden. And God Damn! The internet was just like, KRRRAAAAAHHHHH!!!!

Posted 14 years agoThis isn't going away for a while. I haven't gone on PSN in quite some time. And I can't remember if I purchased items separately or linked my Credit Card to my PSN account. Either way, shit the size of an asteroid has just hit a fan the size of the moon.
Artist in need..
Posted 14 years agoNow, I don't normally do this. But just this once, I figured it'd be a nice thing to do.
big-bad-wolf Has apparently fallen on hard times. One of her fans was worried enough to ask if i would bring this to the attention of those who maybe generous enough to help her out.
Check her stuff out, maybe it'll be to your liking.

Sonic Generations: Gameplay O_O
Posted 14 years agoPretty. Interesting concept though. Play original style or 3D. That seems like a hassle to program for. That's a lot of works just to cater to fans!

Totally Called it; Archie Sonic related [SPOILER ALERT]
Posted 14 years agoHA!! totally called that shit! XD
Hershey (The Cat) St. John is fucking dead! After I heard about the reboot they have planed for the series, I saw this coming a mile away.
Last year, there was a bit of a hubbub going around by former Sonic Writer/Artist Ken Penders about suing Archie Comics for ownership of characters he allegedly created for their series (You can see the gist of it here http://www.kenpenders.com/forums/vi.....?f=9&t=133).
Most notably the characters Hershey The Cat and Geoffrey St.John were in the thick of the whole fiasco. And lo and behold, after being absent for a bit of time, Geoffrey pops back up asserting that he's been playing the Freedom Fighters for saps over the last few years and is a complete and total traitor. Where's Hershey? "..She's been dead for some time.." His exact words.
Is this whole reboot thing because of the lawsuit? Possibly. Archie would never admit that though. Helluva way to get rid of those characters, I bet Geoffrey's going to die a horrible death as well. XD

The NEW Looney Tunes Show
Posted 14 years agoGotta thank
Ishoka for posting about this.
http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/tv_sh.....ers/index.html
A brand new animated Looney Tunes series. Are we ready for it???? O_O
As far as I've seen, while art style is interesting, I still prefer the classic look of the Looney Tunes characters vs this. They still have the same basic design, but have a bit of that retro-modern look thrown into them that has been so popular these days...Although Lola looks kinda retarded...I mean she LITERALLY looks a little retarded. But all and all I'm quite interested in this!
It looks like it will be one of those "kids can watch it, but parents can too" kinda deals. For example, the Krypton clip for Bugs Bunny features a spot on parody of the Superman movie when he was being sent to safety. The Marlon Brando voice for Jor-El Bunny is pretty hilarious in itself.
Check it out, and discuss! XD

So I'm watching the old Pokemon Advance cartoon...
Posted 14 years agoYou know, May(Haruka) is suppose to be about Ten years old in this series. Misty(Kasumi) is twelve.
Why are May's breast so big? XD LOL! I know this is kinda random, but her body design is such a huge difference over pretty much ALL of the feamale characters in her age range on the show. Her body itself, looks more mature than Nurse Joy or Officer Jenny in a lot of instances. They're not huge, but for a ten year old they seem a little big.
Edit: Here's a screep cap.

Damn you Pokemans!! XO
Posted 14 years agoHonestly...I thought I was over Pokemon (As far as the game goes anyway). But here I am, devoting hours of time trying to catch these little bastards all over again!
It's like an addiction. It started off all slow and innocent, now I'm clambering for my DS and getting my Poke-fix.
