Another dream of a vorish nature. 101 journal
Posted 13 years agoAw, no one commented on my last journal (and the one a couple before that). This makes sad dragon sad. :( Oh well, maybe this one would draw some interest.
I had another vorish dream, this time featuring the great Smaug himself. I don't remember too much as usual with dreams but I do recall the version of Smaug from that old cartoon appearing rather annoyed at a human for some reason. Enough that he bent down gobbled the guy up. The scene switched to a larger angry dragon (the size he is in he movie) standing in front of a group of people and he went after them with wisps of flame from his maw as he lunges forward. The humans ran out of view screaming but smacking sounds can be heard from Smaug's lips as he moves down. Not much but that is all I remember, so there. ^;;^
As for Smaug, I liked the guy. He seemed an all right fellow. Quick temper to those that annoy him but I can understand that, I have a lot of the same tendency... except I don't have a weakness like a missing scale. ^.^
Seemed no one new visited any of my channels. Oh well, here what wrote about them if anyone wants to check them out.

I finally gone ahead and registered #metal on FurNet. I been lurking in there for a few years after the owner abandon it and been thinking of reviving it for a long time, just gone and did it recently. So if you are into any form of heavy metal (no anti-metal please), then drop on by and have a chat.
I am not active as much as I used to be but you might get lucky and catch me at the right time, usually later at night but not always. I also have other channels on FurNet that I run like #the_lair, the first channel I registered over there. That one is pretty much general discussion though some wild things can go on in there on occasion.
I have another channel #bellyofthebeast that feature my wild and dark side, almost anything is open in that place including some rather 'extreme' fetishes. *wink wink.* Oodily enough, it is also my most popular channel. *Shrugs.* Though it only gets active at random times.
I also have #mawjobs, a channel someone gave me like a year ago. As the name applies, the theme blowjobs and the like though I am not super strict on the topic on paw.
Another channel I tried reviving is #the_tail_underground from long ago. A couple of old members still lurk there but it needs more people to hang out there. Hell, all my channels need more people, hence this part of the journal.

And we have a winnar! 100th Journal.
Posted 13 years agoThat was quick. That last spike was all it needed to push the views over the edge.
Daisy_Graves got the 25k pageview kiriban. The prize is a lump of coal. No wait, a free drawing of some kind. Hopefully this will kickstart me doing submissions again and provide much need motivation to my defeat laziness. But we'll see if that is the case or not.
I plan to do a warm-up pic to get the juices flowing (an idea I want to do that combines a couple of my drawings). Then a request someone made recently and then to the kiriban projects. A full plate for sure but hopefully done before the end of the next century.
Still trying to promote my IRC channels on FurNet. With over 860 waters here, there is bound to be someone brave enough to venture there. it's perfectly safe, honest. Ok ok, maybe you get torn to shreds but at least your body goes to a good cause. I mean there are known survivors, yeah. At any rate, I'll do that copy-n-paste from a previous journal thing again.

Out of the 850+ watchers in my stable, there got to be a couple that want to check out my crazy zaniness and legendary antics, right? Anyone? Where did everyone go? All hiding I bet. Gosh darn, my curse spreading. :(

A mini-milestone is that this is my 100th journal. I don't write these often so I hope I pack a lot of punch in them. I believe I wrote more of the last few journals in such a short period of time than I ever did before. More than in many months that is for sure. I sign of things to come? Only the bones knows and they are not telling no matter how much I gnaw on them.

Wow! Huge influx over the weekend and Kiriban! 99th Journal.
Posted 13 years agoThe surge in views took me by surprised over the last few days. I am so tantalizingly close to 25k pageviews on my FA page that I can just taste it (only 17 more to go at this point). *Licks the screen.* Mmmmmm, taste like... banana cream? Odd. Anyway, the first person who can post a screenshot of that magic number of 25,000 views will be declared the winner of my kiriban contest and get a free drawing of somesort (the details will be spilled later). Don't forget to use an image hosting service like Photobucket as FA themselves don't like such screenshots on their own site even if it is of own their own site in their own screenshot category.
I hope to achieve that goal in the next couple of days (though I jinxed myself before). I also noticed a big jump in new watchers. No idea where that came from and it also took me off guard (note to self: buy more beartraps). I had a similar spike in eyes fairly recently and still have no idea how that happen but I like it. I need to find out what in high hell (and most of the lower parts) is causing such an increase of interest. Of course alomst no one is commenting but I should be used to it by now. Still would be nice if people speaks.
The first cold front of the Fall just went through Sunday and brought the temperature way down. The mornings are getting quite chilly but still nice. As long as it don't go much under absolute zero, I'll be fine with my thick dragon hide if it doesn't get too windy.
Well, good luck on the kiriban contest. My next (hopefully soon) journal will most likely have the announcement of the winner.

Holy Juniper Berries! I been cursed! Plus a weird dream. 98t
Posted 13 years agoUgh, I jinxed myself with that last journal. Not only I didn't get even a single comment (should I even be surprised at this point? Probably not), my pageview rate dropped by a half. I was hoping to hit that 25k view kiriban contest thing by the end of the week but that looks increasing unlikely unless there was some sort of spurt or something. Looks like another week or so at this glacial rate. I probably jinxed myself further but that how it goes. Less than 50 to go so there is some light at the end of the tunnel... just hope it is not from an oncoming train. *.*
I took a 'quick' nap midday and woke up remembering a dream. The details had faded as usually the case but the most distinctive thing I recall is the vorish nature of the scene at the end. It started as me watching over some soldier like groups fighting in a overview like a movie but with me helping out here and there. One of our guys got separated somehow (in an explosion?) and got trapped under some debris. He was yelling for some help and the bad guys comes on over and I was concern they wasn't going to provide much help. The trapped soldier was able to push some of the rubble off of him but his legs was still stuck.
I was on the other side when someone released a snake, which slithered through the pile to get to the other side. I heard the bad guys laughing and I knew the trapped person is going to have a hard time of it. I switched to overview again and saw the already snake engulfed the guy even though I thought it was too small for it.
I am sure most of you (if anyone actually reading this) knows I am into vore. Well, the vored inside of me. But I digest... I mean digress. I was kinda torn between letting the guy simmer in there but I did like him so I grabbed the snake's tail and slammed the head down on the ground like a whip for a few times (despite the person inside getting a beating as well).
The rescue works and he crawled out of the mouth headfirst even though his legs was trapped and should have gone in the snake in the other orientation (dreams are weird like that). And that is when I woke up from that nap. Yeah yeah, not very exciting but this is the first time I could recall something like that in recent memory. So there, there, enjoy that snippet.
I am still trying to promote my IRC channels on FurNet. Since I am such a lazy dragon, I am just copy-n-paste what I had from the last journal (that no one commented on, making sad dragon sad) with a few minor edits. So here goes, hope to see fresh mea... new people to meet.

Less than a hundred to go! Plus other news. 97th journal.
Posted 13 years agoWow, it took less than a week to get into double digits to go on that 25k view kiriban. I'm liking this accelerated rate indeed. At this rate, I should hit the goal before the end of next week. For those who don't know what is a kiriban, it is basically a contest of sort where the winner gets a prize like a free drawing. The first one to post a screenshot of the 25k pageview of my FA page gets it (Use a image service like http://imgur.com/ or Photobucket.com as FA itself doesn't like these kinds of screenshots). I'll probably post another journal when it gets very close.

Well, I do have a few more snippets of news like the continuing kitchen remodel and my youngest brother's kitten scare but I won't bore you guys (the little if any left at this point) with the details.
Oh, good luck with that kiriban thing.

Less than 200 to go to reach the promiseland. 96th journal.
Posted 13 years agoYeah, you heard right. Less than 200 views to go for that 25k Kiriban of mine. At the rate I am going, it'll still be a while before I can hit it but I believe it can be done before the end of the year but it will be close.
I also hope to hit 900 watchers before the end of the year as well but I don't think there will be much of a chance of that but a dragon can dream, can I? Oh well, my lack of output is really not helping in both department and I need to put something out there. I got a few simple and quick things to throw up there soon hopefully to get things going.
One project that I want to start is the 850th watcher kiriban thingy but the person that fell into the trap... um, won it hasn't send me the details to work with yet (I don't think he is on FA all that much from the looks of it). I was hoping to scribble a sketch or something by now.
The 5th episode of the series Riders of Berk came out (including the first two previews) and it left off with a kinda of a cliffhangerish thing. I guess we are starting to get to the 'meat' of the story and from what i heard on the grapevine, going to get darker as well. This sounds like a good thing as the early episodes felt like filler to me, something to establish the characters a bit before diving into the bigger picture. We'll find out eventually.
There seems a new distraction popping up. Black Mesa Source was just released not too long ago. Basically a remake of the original halflife game with the source engine, improving the graphics as well as the gameplay. It looks great from what I can see and it'll bring back memories I'm sure.
I am going to try to limit myself playing that as I am still in the middle of that massive kitchen remodel. I am just about ready to get the new cabinets and got a few bids. They are going to cost a pretty penny all right but I do want to get decent ones, none of that particle board crap. The old ones original to the house are made with that stuff and the bottom swelled up from getting wet over the years, they soak up moisture like a sponge and expand, getting soft and just falls apart. Plus they are weak to begin with.
I also want the cabinets to be the simple Shaker style for that more contemporary look. Not any fancy stuff except for the crown molding (and even then not too complicated) and some trimmings here and there. Looking for clean lines and such. It'll be quite slick once I am done... eventually.
Edit: I put 20k view but meant 25k.

Opps, Now I did it. 95th journal.
Posted 13 years agoFinally, and I mean finally, hit that 850 watchers mark. A sizable jump in the last month or so with strangely little dropouts (if it wasn't for all the unwatchers, I'll be over 9000... I mean 1000 easy). So what does that means? Well Phase IV of the plan for world domi... I mean something else, yeah. Maybe a celebratory sketch or drawing to the (un)lucky guy. Congrats to
flapster for ending up in the spotlight. Now on to 1000, which I hope will be within this century.
The 25k kiriban is still on, dipping just under 300 more pageviews to go. I hope it'll before year's end when I make it to that milestone. Before Nov. 25th on my birthday would be better. Or even more so before that but I don't count on it. A dragon can dream, can I? Ok ok, maybe a little.
The full premier of the new show Riders of Berk is coming soon. The previews was pretty good and I look forward to the whole series. Surprisingly little talk of the show I see here on FA. Maybe I am not looking hard enough but I thought the excitement level would be higher. I seen video games garner much more attention. Oh well, no matter, I am happy for something decent on TV. It is filled with crap shows and even crappier clones. As soon as one show comes up that is even remotely successful (sometimes not even that), tons of other shows copy it with slight variations. I can understand spinoffs as they occationally go off in different directions but rarely (if ever) a copy-n-paste operation does any kind of improvement. I could go on and on about that but I am sure I already bored away the two readers I have left.
Anyhoot, talk to me people. And find me more watchers. The beast is hungry... I mean I could use them to reach my goal, yeah, onward to 1000! ... and beyond!

Dragon poo is bright green? Berk riders and such. 94th journ
Posted 13 years agoThe dragons in Riders of Berk have weird poop all right. Even though I do enjoy bombing the local villagers, mine doesn't look like that... well, unless I ate some glowing radioactive goo (no comment). Anyhoot, what you guys thing of the premier? I only saw one journal about though I didn't really look that hard. I would have thought there would be more excitement surrounding it.
Oh well, I think the show is pretty good, certainly it is already much better than the cruft Cartoon Network show these days. Their live action stuff suck balls hard, and not in a good way. >.> Interesting to see how the season will turn out.
As for what is going around here, not so hot. Slowly getting more of the kitchen remodel done but things seems to hit a snag. The process is dragging down even more. We did get a new roof. There was some heavy hail a few months ago that damaged a lot of the shingles in our neighborhood. Over a dozen houses near use got their shingles replaced, all by the same company as far as I can tell. And there is at least three more on the way. The home insurance paid for the job and the 4 man crew was able to knock it out in a day. The work wasn't too bad, so much better than the previous people did several years back. The old roof wasn't all that old but some shingles did blew off in the wind early this year. Back then, the deductible was too high so my brother and I patched it up with a bundle of shingles. Wasn't too hard and we needed to move the vent for the waterheater anyway when we went with a tankless system.
On the work front, things are crappy indeed. One of the hard workers on the flood got fired out of the blue, probably a scapegoat for the higher ups. That was bad enough but they said he quit, which is not in his character. However, his boss is enough of a douchebag that it is totally believable at the lying thing. Quite telling. There is also quite a few of the good people looking to jump ship. I hope the proverbial shit hits the fan happens soon and the doofuses that are truly getting in the way get what is coming to them. This incompetence can't last forever, can it?
Oh, almost forgot. I creeped past 24500 views, less than 500 to go to that 25k. I had a huge uptake in the views but that passed and just the usual trickle now. I still don't know what happened but hope it does again. It is way too early for this but I am running one of those kiriban contest to the one that captures that magic number. Most likely I won't get to 25k for months unless another spike occurs. The chances of that is slim to none but a dragon can hope, right? Ok ok, give me a break at least... and not the kind that involves my spine (or any other body part) snapped in two thank you very much.
BTW, why doesn't anyone respond to me aside one of two people? I'm not that scary. *Looks into the mirror before his image shatters it.* OK ok, but still. I don't bite... much.

The Dragon Pokes Back! Plus the Tripod. 93rd journal.
Posted 13 years ago*Poke pokes.* Anyone out there? *Pokes poke.*
Well, that mini-flood of new watchers (though one of what I am sure will be many already bailed) is officially over though I still don't know what the hell happened. This curious dragon want to know so tell me already. You don't want me to come out there and visit while you sleep. Bad things happening would be the likely result. Talk to me people. o.o
Well, I picked up our dog Pepper from the vet the other day. They ended up amputating the broken leg so he is a tripod dog now. He seems to adapt well enough though when I took him to the backyard to relieve himself, he lifted the wrong leg and flopped over on the grass. he quickly stood back up and used the other leg with a 'wee' better outcome. Aside from the gnarly staples on the leg stump, he is recovering well enough. The redness in his eyes are clearing and looking much better. The bite marks are healing well too. He is just about back to his old self.

Damn Dumb Dog Draining Dollars Deeply. 92nd journal.
Posted 13 years agoWe have this male chihuahua Pepper that is quite an escape artist, constantly getting out to visit his various 'girlfriends', quite a Casanova he. Despite plugging all the holes, he finds a way to get out the backyard again. My brother even caught him climbing the chain-link fence.
Well, all those misdeeds finally caught up with him Sunday night when he roamed again. After midnight, I found him sitting at the back door. I opened it and he just sat there. I called his name a few time before he finally pad past the door and that is when I saw his injuries. It was pretty obvious that he got into a fight with another dog and got quite messed up. His neck and side area was swollen but the worse was his front leg. It turned out to be broken just below the elbow.
Took him to the vet and got the x-rays, which showed he didn't have anything like a collapsed lung but did show the broken leg with one of the bone twisted out of the socket. The vet estimated the total cost of repairing the damage to be in the thousands. This, as you can imagine, is quite pricey.
The cost to put him down would $150 and my brother wanted to go with that option along with my mother. I didn't like that idea but the the cost is a concern. I stepped out of the exam room and when I came back, my mother changed her mind and go with the treatment. My brother disapproved but it is her dog and all.
Looking back at that, that is probably for the best as my mom is over 70 years old and have dementia. He owned Pepper for a long time and having him around would be good for her. So the extra cost is worth on that along. But that is still a lot of money, especially since we are still in the middle of that kitchen remodel (that story to be expanded in a future journal).
Pepper he is staying for two nights while the vet treats his puncture wounds, removing the air from under the skin. He worried about the wound on the neck, not sure the trachea got damaged or not. The air didn't come back so that is a good sign. He talked to a specialist today about the broken leg and I am going to call back in the morning to see about it (it doesn't look good from what I can tell so far). He is not out of the woods yet as the end cost could balloon even more. Hopefully I'll have some good news.

An explosion of eyes! 91st Journal.
Posted 13 years agoWow, just wow. I been gaining tons of watchers of late, nine in just over a day. 0.0 That more than made up for the three I loss during the last few weeks. No idea why I am getting all these new peeps watching as I am lucky to get a couple a month these days. I wish I knew what I do so I can do it again... and again... and again. my pageviews is also exploding as well, jumping more than first half of the year already.
Maybe someone is pimping my page. I did made a few comments around and might hit something. My luck is going for the better this week it seems (but I am sure that will change soon enough). While I love all these new people, no one made a comment on my submissions, which is quite common with me. Seems no one is brave enough to comment. Oh well, I don't bite... much.
Anyway, I am happy with the flood of new people, just a bit of a shock. I am asking all of you why the watch? Was it something I did? Is someone promoting my stuff? Did I hit the lucky lottery? I accidentally pleased some deity instead of riling their from my crazy antics? Curious dragon wants to know what the hell happened.
Yeah, it has been forever since my last journal. Been so busy (and lazy) over here. Tons of stuff I could update upon like my many car issues, kitchen remodeling and the workplace going bonkers. Maybe I'll get into those if someone is interested. Most of it is bad though a few good things did manage to show up here and there. Could be worse but I am surviving well enough... for now.
BTW, I so want to restart my 3D stuff. All the new watchers is certainly helping in the motivation department. I scored big time on the computer front but I'll leave that news for later.

Sands of time with all that grime. 90th Journal.
Posted 14 years agoI am sure no one noticed but as of Jan. 6, I been on FA for 5 years. Almost all of last year as been terrible for me though not the worse but still a big downer. I won't go into details as it is pretty boring but I am glad 2011 is finally over. I am looking forward to a better year as my luck is bound to change. I just gotta. *Lips quivering.*
My art output of last year been horrible as well, less than a pawful of submissions. One of my New Year resolutions is to be proactive in increasing my art workflow. That might take a while as I am currently remodeling the kitchen area with my brother helping. We didn't get all that much done over the holidays as there was a bunch of bad structure in the utility room to replace much less doing the changes we planned out (for years). Old water damage (with some of it caused by termites along with incorrect work by someone we hired years ago).
I already got the new and much larger electrical panel installed. The old one was 125 Amps and 24 circuits that was stuffed to the max. The new is 200 Amps with 40 circuits, plenty room for future expansion. We are also going with a tankless water heaters. The current tank one is taking up way too much room. Most of the preparation are done for the tankless unit but a new wall needs to be put up for the smaller utility room.
After all that, we'll finally will get to the future larger kitchen itself (hence the shrinking utility room). That part going to be interesting. Probably subcontract out the tile work though as the dining room and living area going to get the same floor treatment as well. The carpet in the other too rooms are very old and had better days. Some nice tile not only last longer (much much longer) but looks so much better to boot.
Going to be a big undertaking indeed but taking it one step at a time should smooth things out. I guess we'll see how smooth or rough it is going to be soon enough.

And there was none, 89th Journal.
Posted 14 years agoYay! Finally got my 800th watcher (and soon after my 801th, madness) and even hit that mark before the year ran out. Been so close for over a month and I thought I would lose some people as my usual but didn't go down in weeks for some reason. Oh well, being in the 800 club feels awesome. Maybe I'll get motivated to start doing my arts again. Who knows.
Took me several days to get over my sickness from my last journal. Lasted far longer than I thought it would. I usually don't get sick for more than a day or two. Weird having no voice for all that time, only can whisper with a squeaky scratchy sound. Still don't know what hit me though but hopefully it is far behind me.
We finally started remodeling the house over here a few weeks ago. Been slow going as a big chunk of the work been fixing other people messes so far. It is crazy how far some people go to do things the wrong way, even taking more effort that doing it right in the first place. Dealing with their screwball antics had taken nearly half the time. My brother and I worked on the utility room and still haven't finished it much less touching the kitchen. Hopefully there are less screwups there but that might be wishful thinking.
My youngest brother finally moved out of the nursing home and into an apartment a couple of blocks away. He is moving in with his girlfriend/finance, who is also wheelchair bound. Going to be interesting how things are going to work out as their apartment is not set up for ADA and all that. They got a ramp installed on the front door but the rest of the place needs a lot of work.
Also it has been raining here on and off for the last several weeks. We just gone through a record drought season over the summer so it looks like much of what we been missing is coming in now. A bit late but better than never.
BTW, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. This is probably my last journal of the year (if you are lucky) so see you all next year with better cheer.. I hope.

Sick Dragon is Sick, 88th Journal.
Posted 14 years agoYep, I am sick (not only in the head). It started on Thursday night with coughing which I knew was going to get worse... and it did the next day. Got worse throughout the day with a sore through. Just after mid-day, my voice gave out, pretty much reduced me to a whisper. And the coughs kept getting worse.
I hacked and heaved so hard that at various times during the day (and night), I coughed up a lung, kidney, my spleen. a third of the liver and finally a gonad, which really hurt like hell. The weird thing is that my nose not that stuffed up and just a little body ache. It is mainly the coughing and sore throat makes the hacking fits hurt plus my reduced vocal output. I can barely roar, comes out more of a high pitch squeal. How is this dragon supposed to assert his dominance. I hope I will get over this soon. Usually I don't get sick more than a day or so. Seems the severity and quantity of the cough fits lessening already.
Well, what else is up with the dragon? I had my birthday last week and pretty much just another day. I guess that could be a good or a bad thing. When you reach my ancient age, that is how it goes.
Moved to the new workplace on Wednesday. Still unpacking though. I have tons of jun... stuff to jam pack in my lab. Not too happy about some stuff but some things are nicer at the new building. We'll see how it works out.
I am taking the whole next week off. Still have tons of vacation hours t burn but won't be a picnic as we are planning on the remodeling the kitchen (along with the dining room and living areas). At least getting started on it. It's been in the works for a couple of years now and looks like it'll finally happen. Wither it goes smoothly or not remains to be seen.
I am still just 3 watchers away from 800. I want to reach that number before the end of the year, oh so close. The number been stagnant for several weeks but at least I haven't lost anyone as has been the case in the past. The goal of 25k pageviews is right out, there is no chance of hitting that this year. I did get 2500 favs and I am still no decided to do a drawing for the person hitting it. Doesn't look likely at this point but it is still open a crack.
I have other things to cover but I think I'll leave it for now.

Rushing Headfirst to 43, Moving to Whatever Comes. 87th Jour
Posted 14 years agoWhew, less than a week away till my birthday. It is fast coming up on the 25th. Going on to 43 billion earth solar years and I do feel so very old. >.> And as usual these days, all I am going to probably get is a cake and that pretty much it. Oh well, I guess i am used to that.
I am also in the process of moving my lab to the new building. Just started packing in earnest today. Lots of stuff to move that I been building up over the years. The bulk of production moved a couple of months ago (they are set up on the open floor so didn't need the walls build like my lab, which took most of the time waiting inspection by the city and fire marshal - not very speedy they). But the labs are finally ready and I hope to shift everything there before T-day. If not, early next week should do it.
Going to the new building has its up and downside. The size of my lab actually shrinks slightly but I should have just about the same usable space if not a little more due to not sharing some storage room with the warranty people. Plus I hope to get rid of a lot of the junk that managed to pile up. Lot of scrap to, well, scrap.
Another advantage is getting access to the inventory if I need a part for something. Been a pain when that moved away. Now i can tackle some of the projects better. I hope anyway.
The big downside is the new place is all the way across town, double of the current address. My wings going to be extra tired flying back and forth. That going to suck but that how it goes.
I could do a lot more updating but my journals barely gets read and I am way too lazy to make the effort to do those long yawns anymore.
Oh BTW, I am just 3 watchers from hitting 800. I hope to hit that by the end of the year and I think I have a good chance despite loosing watchers quite often. I estimate losing one out of every two I gain (recently it was more like losing two for every three gained). But with just over a month to go, I might just make that milestone.
Another milestone I hit is my 2500th fav. Just like watchers, that number goes up and down too. I makes me sad to see either of those numbers drop. And drop they do, all too often. Anyhoot, I am thinking of rewarding the person that manage to land on that number with one of my headshot drawings. Going to have to think about that. Any thoughts on it?
At least with views, that can't drop. What been seen cannot be unseen no matter how hard one try to erase the horror. So there is that. I hoped (more like dreamed) to hit 25k views by year end but that not going to happen with my rate. I am lucky to get just a pawful of views if any. I can go for days with nothing. And my lack of updates all year long doesn't help as what little motivation I have is crushed by the extreme lack of comments and feedback. A catch 22 indeed. Oh well, I am rambling now. Not that it matters any.

My head! Shot! 86th Journal
Posted 14 years agoNo no, not that kind of headshot. But I did recieved a free drawing of a headshot of me. Check it out at http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6537343/ .
Vixyn offered 50 of them and there are a few slots left. So hurry and grab one before they are all gone.
Finally hit 22k pageviews. Took a lot longer that I hoped (My dream of hitting 25k pretty much dashed). Then again, I haven't posted anything in months, nothing since the beginning of the year. I do hope to end that drought soon... before the coming ice age. I am having problems finishing the drawing I started long ago. Just lack motivation and whatnot. I'll get it done... eventually.

Fire! Fire! Pants is a liar! 85th Journal
Posted 14 years agoWow, it's been so dry here that several wildfires flared up including six major ones in seven days. A big one hit the grassy field behind the building where I work last Sunday. Around 125 acres burned and it got within 100 yards of the propane tanks out back plus the 50-gal barrels of gasoline. Good think the fire retardant from the helicopters halted the progress of the flames. Got close... too close for comfort.
Lots of homes near where the fire started could have gone up in flames too but was spared as well. A witness stated that a buzzard with something like a squirrel in its beak landed on a power pole and touched a pair of wires, causing the sparks that ignited the fire on the ground. Not sure that really happened but the area around here is so dry that it wouldn't take much at all set off a fire like that.
Just north of town hosted a huge wildfire that took out over 1500 homes, engulfing a few thousand acres. Nothing like that here though the fires have been at record levels. However, we finally got a few rains of on/off rain. Not a huge amount but enough to give most areas a good soak. Plus the cold front dipped the temperature down from the mid 90s (°F) to 66°F. We had numerous record setting + triple digits days so that certainly helped things. Supposedly it will shower some more during the week as we are still far short of our average amount of the wet stuff, less than half at one point.

My Bellybutton Smells Funny: 84th Journal
Posted 14 years agoDamn, it's been a long time since my last journal (over six months). I did started on it many months ago but got distracted. It's been crazy over here plus my laziness combined in a perfect storm. Oh well, I am going to salvage what I can.
Finally! Finally! Finally! good and bad, happy and sad.
Well, a few things happen since my last journal. My little brother got his operation to take out the pins in his hip that the doctors installed when he broke it last year. the surgeon thought the infection was going to be bad enough that he would have to ampetate the whole leg and he didn't think my brother was strong enough to survive that. Luckily the infection didn't spread to the bone so he didn't have to lop off the leg. He didn't even had to removed as much flesh as he initially though. So that is a bit of good news.
I mentioned that I 'won' one of those hard to get BoC packages from Woot. Mine came in a few weeks ago and I scored quite well. I got the usual 3 piece set of mini Aquaglobes like many people listed in the forum. Another common item is a strawberry shape bag that unfolds insideout to form a much larger bag. A cute item that a few people gave to their cats as a playtoy. A tabletop tripod thing reank among my stash, another common item.
But I got a bonus as well, one of those Pulsee Smartpen brand new in the box. They retail anywhere from $100 to $200. Mot a bad deal for $8 (plus tax here in TeXaS. Yeeeeee Haaaaaawww!). Not shabby at all. I don't really have a use for it since I already have a graphics tablet and don't do much notetaking. Maybe I'll throw it on Ebay or Craig's List. Dunno, perhaps a gift for someone. At any rate, I'll find something to do with it.
I have tons of stuff to add but going to skip them as no one really read my journals anyway. Plus it you be another one of those novels type of things. The only major news is the move the company I work for is doing to a bigger and nicer building. The bad thing for me is that the place in across town for me so it is an extra 15-20 min drive. :\
It sucks but we are a growing company and need a larger place anyway. And the head of the company thinks we will grow out of the new place in ten years with the timeline he envisions. Going to be interesting though.

WOOT! WOOT! WOOT! 83rd Journal
Posted 14 years agoI just made a nice score on Woot.com. For those who don't know, Woot is a website that usually sell one item a day, often at a good price. Every couple of months, they run what is called a woot-off, where they sell an item unit it sells out and move on to the next one till the whole set is gone. They can last a day or go to three but the average is two.
One of Woot's most coveted object is something known as the Bag of Crap (BOC). Basically is bunch of leftovers or odds and ends, a surprise or bundle or mystery box of sorts. A lot of the time the BOC contains some really wacky items, part of the fun. Their servers get so flooded when a BOC goes up, that it is very hard to actually buy it. Some people have tried for seven years and still can't get one.
I am lucky as I finally grabbed my fourth one since 2005. Very hard to get indeed. It costs $8 (plus sales tax here in TeXaS). Usually the items themselves barely worth that price but it is the randomness of the stuff (and how hard to get one) that is the appeal. And a few lucky ones get awesome stuff like a 42" LCD TV, a whole pallet of an oddball action figure (thousands) of them or this one guy who got a big shipment of video projectors, LCD monitors, flatbed scanners, printers and stuff like that. Of course the chances of getting such items is low, but one never knows.
Some of the weird items I got in the past includes a LED illuminated toilet flush handle, three Disney Rock-n-Rock High School clock, a picnic basket that unfolds to a large place-mat, a HP 4X DVD burner with missing faceplate, a laptop case with a broken clasp, lots of small stuff. It takes a couple of weeks to come in and I can't wait to see what manner of craziness coming my way. I shall update once the blessed event takes place.

Sick Dragon is (was) Sick. 82nd Journal
Posted 14 years agoUgh, I was feeling very sick though feeling much better now. It started around midnight on Monday and got very bad quick. I felt so weak that I barely had the energy to make it to the bathroom where I vomited violently indeed. Never been that sick in years, a decade even. I couldn't get much sleep as I threw up all night long, something like 30 times or so. It was so bad that I entertained the thought of going to the hospital for a moment there.
I hurled everything in me, a lot more than I thought possible. And stuff was coming out on both ends too. Not fun at all. I stopped vomiting by the morning but way too sick to go to work so I call it in Tuesday. I still felt queasy on Wednesday morning but able to find my way to work by noon as I had too much to do. Plus I had to get ready for a meeting in the morning. At least I got that done (the best I could). How well it goes remains to be seen.
In a previous journal I mentioned about a good software deal. Well, I have another... make that five others. I received a coupon code that is good for five different software packages for free. I don't want to publish it publicly so poke me and I'll send to you. The webpage for the offer is still up so I believe it is still valid. Worth a shot anyway.

GAme over! Game over man! 81st Journal
Posted 14 years agoWell, that killer sale I posted in my previous journal is over now. I am going to repost the journal I made before the sale since it was only up a couple of days. I want to make sure people don't missed that. Those (two) that happened to read it, just skip it... like everyone else.
Repost:
Whew, I haven't updated in a while... as usual. Well, I'll try not to bore you (both) with a few updates.
We had a few nasty cold snaps here this season, way more than usual. It even snowed for the first time in a long long time. The last time it did was in 1985 where 14 inches of the white stuff came down in a day. I still remember that day from long ago. Too bad it melted in a couple of days.
This time around it was less than an inch but at least something. An unexpected blast of warm air that caused freezing rain just before the snow made a thin layer of ice on the ground, which made driving for the morning commuters very slick. In fact, there was over 800 accidents reported. The whole production was shut down at work but I came in at noon since the road was mostly dry and I had stuff to do.
Even though most of the streets was clear, there was still a few pockets of snow in the shaded area. I hit one and my tires spin like it was up in the air with a jack. I also got caught in a traffic jam. No movement for 30 minutes. Seems like a nasty accident happened up ahead as I saw the burnt out flares strewn on the highway. My brother hit a patch under a bridge and he did some fishtailing on the way to work as well even though he came in a little bit after me.
Supposedly all the cold snaps are over now. At least that is what the weather forecasters say. I must say, this has been the coldest winter in a long long time. Usually the freezing temps last only a couple of days at most but these year, it lasted a week or two with sustained bellow freezing temps for several days.
On to something different. There is a new sheriff in town. well, actually a new group on FA called Vore Patrol. I'm sure you all (both) know that I am heavily into vore ot I should say, the vored is in me. Anyway, the group is at http://www.furaffinity.net/user/vorepatrol/ . Feel free to check it out. Be good or you might be on the menu... I mean wanted list. Ok ok, it's the same thing.
Oh another thing, I am sloshing my was back into 3D. Trying to learn Blender and find it a bit different from 3ds Max I used years ago. I found a tutorial find it slow going. I am slowly getting used to Blender and hope to start on my first real model with it soonish. Sometime before the sun burns out would be nice.
I could cover more stuff but I am going to leave is done for now. It is not like people read these things anyway.

Wow oh wow! A $1200 3D Program for $40! 80th Journal
Posted 14 years agoCheck this out, a professional grade 3D animating suite that usually priced at $120 is being promoted at a cool $40. The non pro version going just $10 instead of $500. But the time is short, just a few of hours left to get in on the deal. You can find the info here at http://www.projectmessiah.com/x6/shop.html . But hurry as the window of opportunity is closing fast.
I did some research on it and it seems to be highly regarded in the industry with quite a few awards. I'm trying out the pro version and hope it is as easy as they claim. I like the idea of realtime workflow and the character animation feature. Since I hate rigging the model, the auto-rigging module seems to be something I'll jump all over.
Anyway, spread the word before it is too late. I think this is a great way for someone to get their feet wet in 3D on the cheap. Hurry hurry hurry!

The Dam Burst, Run For Your Lives! 78th Journal
Posted 15 years agoWow, I had a flood of views yesterday, enough to take me over that 20k mark.
keeperofjunk is the lucky person to grab that elusive screenshot and won the kiriban. The blessed event happened just before FA went down again. Well, not completely down as it was super slow with a bunch of 502 errors with a few 503s thrown in as good measure. Not sure if it was another DDoS attack that plagued the site over the holidays.
Speaking of the holidays, I had some time off from work. Barely made a dent in the stuff I had planned to accomplish. Back to the grind on Monday.
So, as a whole, 2010 went well for me. Work had been crazy with increased production nearly tripled over the summer months. Even the later part of the year been extra busy though a bit calmer. And lots of huge changes as well since the partnership/merger with another company. They been strong in the oil/gas market and we in the industrial/marine area both been meaning to expand into more markets so we compliment each other. Plus the bosses of both companies been friends for a long time.
Last year also mark the time where I finally bought a computer that is the closest to cutting edge that I ever got. Previous to that, most of my computers had been basically hand-me-downs or Frankenstein creations from various parts. I got a great deal (even now the parts still cost more to build that machine) on it.
It is that i7 920 quadcore I mentioned in my other journals. And it is the one I'll be restarting my 3D work this year... finally. Old timers will know of the massive drama a few years back that totally destroyed my attempts of such art. But since things are much better now (and I hit that 20k milestone), I am going to make a concerted effort in that direction.
My 2D stuff largely ignored (severe lack of comments and the like) but my 3D was doing quite well. I was on track of hitting the 20k views in less than 2 years, not in the nearly 4 (the anniversary rapidly coming up on the 6th) like I did. Hopefully that will change once I dip my paw into the 3D cookie jar again.
Oh, the local basketball sports team the Spurs had closed the year on excellent terms. This season the team went a franchise record 28 wins to 4 loses, the best in the current NBA season. The added one more win new years day and sits at 29 to 4. Of course they are still largely ignored by the national media despite having not only the best start in the league so far this season but the best winning percentage of the last 10 years in ALL major professional sports. Something unheard of in this so-called small (television) market team. If they even try to do some sort of promotion, even a tiny bit, they wouldn't be so small market.
Barely a peep and when they do get mentioned, it is almost always in a negative light like they are too old, too soft or even the most ironic as being too dirty when the Spurs are the cleanest, most humble team out there. They don't dance around in the middle of the court and grab their junk like a certain 'superstar'.
The whole team rather be under the radar, quietly winning their games... and championships. It really weird when one of these (un)professional broadcasters kept saying the non-contending Spurs over and over in his cometary a couple of months ago. I wonder is that biased idiot still spread that falsehood now. Probably gone to something else derogatory knowing these knuckleheads. The Spurs could have gone all the way for the last decade if certain, um, let's call them bad breaks didn't occur with bad calls and sticky time clocks that started late. The Spurs could have six rings instead of just four. But still, they did great for such a team that rarely get media attention. I could go on and on about it but I am going to stop here... for those still left reading this ranting monologue.
Other news from last year included my youngest brother slowly declining health. He still smokes despite being in and out of the hospital. Now living in a nursing home, he has to get dialysis three times a week. He can move around on the wheelchair now as he can barely use the walker. I'm afraid the time for my brother is running out. This could be his last year, especially if he doesn't stop smoking.
That was a bit of a downer at the end but it is what it is. So that is a quick summary of what happened the year past and a hint of what to come in this brand new year. Some up and downs for sure.

Well, time is near for the year to come to a close and ring in the new. 2010 has been good for the most part and hopefully 2011 will be even better. We shall see.
I am getting close to hit that 20,000 pageviews on my FA homepage. Just 55 views to go to hit that goal. I don't think I'll get it by midnight, so this reaching that milestone this year is out. However, my four year anniversary on FA is coming up on the sixth and I should go past 20k before then. At least there is a good chance of that.
So if any of you see me hit 20k views, take a screenshot, post it somewhere and send me the link to get a prize. FA doesn't allow such kiriban screenshots (despite having a screenshot category) so I suggest using a picture site like Imaginebin.org or Flickr. The first person that gets it will get a drawing by me, nothing too complicated though. Most likely a headshot like those in my in my gallery.
Also I'll be restarting my 3D works once I hit that 20k. I began my FA life with #3D modeling before a spat of bad real life drama took over. Thankfully I moved on from that and ready to reignite the flames. My 3D stuff got way more attention that the 2D drawings I been doing, so there is that to look forward to in the coming year. I won't have as much free time as I did way back so the progress will be even slower, but better than nothing.
Overall, the Christmas holiday went well over here, nothing fancy. My brother gave me one of those emergency battery/air compressor. Then again, the battery in the one I lent him died so I guess that made a good replacement. Though this one does have that air compressor and a 5 volt USB source built-in, so that is better.
One think I been noticing near the end of the year is that a bunch of new people been visiting my IRC channel #bellyofthebeast on FurNet. A good half dozen names I haven't seen before. Nice to get some fresh blood. Now if I can get some of the old timers to come back, I'll be really ecstatic. But still and am pleased with the mini-rush. Let's see how long they stay before I scare them off like so many others. I have a bad habit of doing that. I guess being a dragon is too scary even though I am the friendly type... sometimes too friendly. *winks*
Too bad my other channels there have been pretty much dead of late. Both #the_lair and #the_tail_underground been quite slow. Maybe things up again next year. We shall see if that bares out as well.
