Dead Account (New at Weasyl)
Posted 11 years agoHey old friends. I haven't touched this account in quite a long time.
I do still plan to update :usernameMookcat:
But I also just started a new Weasyl account:
https://www.weasyl.com/~mookcat
Hopefully this encourages me to draw more.
Let's keep this journey going. c:

A farewell to this account?!
Posted 14 years agoThough I haven't been very active as of late, when I am on this site, my username bothers me.
Something about having a series of numbers at the end just seems to irk me in a bizarre manner.
So, I decided to start over with the account
mookcat
I'd love to continue to provide countless more dumb drawings for all of you wonderful people!
Much Love,
Mook

I survived the Oregon Trail
Posted 14 years agoAnd I'll I got was this lousy snakebite.
I'm back from my extensive road trip, and I'm hittin' the drawing table hard. Thanks to all the fellers who gave me good advice on places to visit!
Gonna be working on more Recipe Illustrations, and may take commissions on them down the road, so keep an eye out.
I also have 4,000 or so submissions to wade through, and I don't wanna miss a thang!
Hope everyone is having happy times! <3

Goin' on a spirit journey.
Posted 14 years agoHaven't been quite as active as I'd like on the site lately, but nonetheless figured I should mention that I'll be traveling 'round the states for the month. Going all the way to Oregon, and probably dying from snakebites or dysentery. But I'll certainly have a humorous gravestone.
But yeah, doing a road trip. Hoping to do more of those recipe illustrations when I get back, so keep an eye out!
Might actually attempt doing commissions again too, but it's far too early to decide.
For now though, I gotta hit that dusty trail. Crossing some rivers, and losing some oxen.
Ciao for niao cowpokes.

So........ Anthrocon....
Posted 14 years agoThat was some good partying!
It was unbelievably good to see old friends again, as well as meeting a few new ones.
My birthday was on the Saturday of AC, and I gotta say, it was one of the best birthdays I've ever had!
I won't even begin listing the people that made it amazing! But everyone I hung out with, mad respect!
The loveliest of Roommates!
Giant Inflatable Beer Bottle!
MIDI party every night!
Pizza! P-I-ZZ-A!
Pool-Jaccuzi-Steam-Shower Party!
Fancy Dinner and Fireworks!
Delicious Drinks! (And a few nasty ones)
Dancin' like no tomorrow!
This was definitely an awesome experience. I miss you folks already.
5 STARS, WOULD FURRY AGAIN.

LE CHAT DU RABBIN - Animated Movie Trailer
Posted 14 years agoI generally try to keep up with the world of animation, and I often find myself spending hours watching new and amazing things, that inevitably lead to even more amazing things.
I just found this upcoming French animation, Le Chat Du Rabbin (The Rabbi's Cat) that looks absolutely stunning!
"Algiers, 1920s. Rabbi Sfar has more than one problem. His beautiful daughter is becoming a teenager and above all, his parrot-killing cat has just started talking! The delivery of a trunk from Russia further complicates matters when a painter is discovered inside, more dead than alive. The painter is on a quest for a hidden tribe and its mythical city in Africa. Convinced that the city really exists, he sets off on an incredible adventure, taking with him the Rabbi and his cat, a wise old Arab Sheikh and an eccentric Russian millionaire."
Definitely check it out!

Joe Murray and the Future of Independent Cartooning
Posted 14 years agoThose of you who don't know, Joe Murray is the cartoonist responsible for the cartoons Rocko's Modern Life and Camp Lazlo, as well as many of my favorite short animation works. A while back, he started a Kickstarter account to help fund his plans for an independent online cartoon, Frog in a Suit.
Well, he got the funding thankfully, and has launched the website http://www.kaboingtv.com/
I've always been a big fan of the guy's work, and would love to see his website to succeed. So if you've got a moment to spare, check it out! It's free, and entertaining. Spread the word about his goals. It's a fantastic idea that deserves to catch on!
"The mission of KaboingTV is to provide an alternative channel for quality animation that serves both the cartoon fan, and the animation community of artists and writers."
Thanks to
sonderjen for reminding me of this man's grand plan!

Posted 14 years agoSo, FWA has come and gone, and it was a real blast as always!!
I got to reunite with a lot of the good folks from the previous year, as well as meet some new pals!
I always fear that I become way more Introverted when I go to conventions, but I managed to enjoy myself nonetheless!
I started the convention off on a bad foot by drinking way too much and eating some questionable tunafish.
I ended up harassing
kilcodo in a drunken fit, barfed on
therapetor's car, and then got married to both
lolautumn and
2x2l. So yeah, that's an average Thursday I guess.
I wanna give so many shout outs, but I'm afraid I'll forget someone in my drunken stupor. And I certainly don't have room for all them dang icons!
It was lovely seeing lil' miss
quaggy again and ruining her sketchbook with my horrid scribbles.
Had a very competitive and intense game of Bust-A-Move with
hazerever like none other!
In a state of hungover regrets, I enjoyed a wonderful dinner with free beer alongside
redacteur
hottapwater
clup and
mushyz, all of whom were absolutely charming. I loved HOT-TAP-H20 comics! They are nuzzled in the depths of my comic shelf. I loved Clup's gin, which is nuzzled in the depths of my liver.
defender and
phylum were just as kind as always! I wish I could've joined you fine folks at the aquarium!
failferret fed me delicious Kraken rum and TRICKED ME at the pool. What a swell guy! <3
I only briefly got to hang out with
scurrow
ante
hulex and
jym and I think I might have played on a keytar that one of you guys owned. WHICH WAS AWESOME.
I met
Henrieke and
Karpour, two artists who I greatly admire, while I was drunk and wearing makeup, which is completely embarrassing!!!
arcarc and I shared tattoo time, and I swam with a bunch of SUPER FUN people, all of who I wish I could remember!
I even got to meet/room/drive with some local folk who I didn't expect to see, which is pretty rad! Nice folks everywhere!!
So in short, I had a swell time and hope that I wasn't too much of an ass.
Gonna try my best to make it to AC!!

I waste my money on cute things.
Posted 14 years agoI own a lot of useless things that I think are cute.
I just stumbled on this little website, and found more useless things that I think are cute:
http://www.koreanfashiononline.com/.....rcelain-plate/
I NEED TO FUEL MY HABIT, but I can't figure out where I can get them from.
LIFE IS HARD.

HEY. Do you like COMICS??
Posted 14 years agoHowdy friends, new and old! I've been scarcely posting as of late due to work and personal projects. I do have some more stupid animated loops in progress however, so worry not!
In the mean time, you should check out my comic blog! I'm posting a comic every day for a year! (Today is day number 42, in case you were curious)
It's mostly the misadventures of my roommates and myself, but I still encourage you to check it out!
http://murkmash.blogspot.com/
Other than that, hope life is treating all of you well! Stay awesome.

An Update of Sorts
Posted 15 years agoI'm still attempting to update now and then, as well as work on a long overdue commission on my off days.
I am also undertaking the difficult task of drawing a comic every single day for an entire year.
I won't be posting them here, but if you'd like, you can view them here: http://murkmash.blogspot.com/
That said, I apologize to any pals on this here site for not being able to keep up with their submissions.
I do what I can with my time, but dang is life quick, and there is so much awesome stuff to look at!
Much love,
Mook

I'd really like to start drawing again. Any pointers?

AC Journal: Mook is the dumbest cat
Posted 15 years agoWhew. So first Anthrocon for this guy.
It was huge. Huge 2.0~
I had a really swell time meeting everyone that I did there! The only problem was that there were just so many rad people there, it was difficult to divide my time!
artdecade and
jellooftheanticrumb were pretty much the nicest roommates I could've asked for. Our room was freakin' rad, and it was nice sharing interests and good beer!
I kinda felt like I sunk into my quiet, nervous mode a lot, and really couldn't draw worth anything once away from the computer, as well as many feats of stupidity, such as incorrect flight scheduling and whatnot. However, I still managed to have a swell time! And that's what matters, I suppose! I also had one of the best birthdays in a long time while there~
I couldn't even begin listing all of the wonderful folks I spent time with. Especially at 2:00 in the morning.
But let it be known that it was a pleasure meeting every single one of you, and hope to do it with far more energy next convention I stumble into!
Let's all be pals!

MOOK versus FWA - Match of the Century
Posted 15 years agoSo, I am just now returning from the convention known as FWA (Future Warlords of America) and I bring with me a memory full of adventures.
I must say I was very worried/nervous/confused about going to this convention, and I didn't have an easy time getting there either, what with driving 600 miles and my tire exploding. I halfway expected myself just walking around nervous and frightened. However, saying that I was pleasantly surprised would be quite an understatement. I had an absolutely mind blowing time there! Everyone was friendly, I never really got weirded out at anything, and I learned that fursuits are actually really adorable.
I had the pleasure of rooming with
quaggy and
hazerever who were both absolutely amazing folks! Also got to hang out with
cubetriangle
defender
kitsunefoxman
ante
scurrow
beerhorse
blitzdrachen
arcarc and a good handful more! There were so many amazing artists there! (many of which I was a bit too shy to talk to. Gotta work on that. . .)
It was an amazing experience, and I miss the friends and excitement already.
But now I'm hooked, so I'll definitely be doing it again!

Commissions de Mook?!
Posted 15 years agoI am dangerously close to being broke after my recent road trip (I REGRET NOTHING!), so I figured now is the best time to attempt taking on commissions. This is my first time attempting commissions, so I'll try to offer a little variety, and see what, if anything, gets sold.
So how about this:
$3.00 - Silly quick drawing
Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3347191
Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3346529
$5.00 - Simple animated icon

$10.00 - Vector drawing of character with simple background

$15.00 - Toony digital drawing of one or two characters interacting
Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3529304
Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3630285
$20.00 - Silly animated dance with audio
Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3227201
Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3269670
$40.00 - 'Painted Cartoon' mailed to your address with a super secret special note on the back.
Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2670766
Examples: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3015972
Please note me if you happen to want any of these offers, or even if you would like something that is not listed. If by some miracle I get enough commissions to become overwhelmed, I will let you know.
Oh yeah! I don't really do explicit stuff, plus it would just look silly the way I draw.

Road Trip Tales
Posted 16 years agoSo, I've been on a road trip for the past couple of days. Seen some amazing things, had some exciting adventures, and plenty of new experiences. Traveled 4,500 miles thusfar!
Went to Further Confusion for about two hours. Wish I could've stayed longer, but had other plans already.
In L.A. I had the joy of meeting
zoemoss and
rabbitshakejake
Many adventures ensued. I poorly drew some comics about the events that I'll share eventually.
Not much else to say, really. I'd like to work on more animation and voice work when I get back home and into the groove of things again.
How goes things with youse guys?
