Big Wolf Update
General | Posted 4 years agoSorry for the long silence, boys.
I wanted to give you a heads up that I've had kind of a major catastrophe. It's my own damn fault, but...the flash drive I was using to store almost all of my yiff stories - current projects and ideas for future ones - decided to eat itself.
It seems to be actual physical damage, which means reformating and recovery isn't very likely. So in all probablility, I'll have to start all over.
The good news? I do have a few stories still hanging out on my Google Drive so I'll probably focus on those and hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer.
In the meantime, keep each other safe and I'm hoping I can get another story out for you all before year's end.

Big Wolf Update
General | Posted 5 years agoHi, everyone.
I'm sorry I've been so quiet for so long. Life has been hard, as you know. I lost my job to Covid, went into lockdown, thought I'd found a career for myself...and then it fell through. I'm still dealing with the psychological fallout from that. In the meantime, I spent the autumn unemployed and only just now landed a temporary job. So at least I have an income again.
In all that time, you'd think I could pump out a few good loads of story, heh. No such luck. I've been wrestling with all sorts of depression, anxiety, self-doubt, and soul searching. Ironically, so much free time during lockdown meant I didn't have the focus to finish anything.
It's been a hard year for me. One of the worst of my life. I'm grateful beyond words to my mate, who has been my light and joy on the worst days; and to all of my friends for their unwavering support.
Of course, I'm also grateful to all of my readers and those of you who have reached out to me in DMs to ask about future stories. They ARE coming, I promise!
In the meantime, I wanted to give a little howl to let you all know I'm still here <3
A happy holidays to you all. Let's hope 2021 is the Year Things Get Better.

Big Wolf Update
General | Posted 6 years agoHey, boys.
Just wanted you all to know what I'm up to. So I don't normally do this - but I've got a couple of private yiff stories I'm doing as a commission for a good friend. But after that, I'll be back to my old shenanigans, hehe! I anticipate the private stories will take me a few months to finish.
In the meantime, why don't you guys let me know what sorts of things you might want to see me write about in the future? Story ideas, premises, species you'd love to see buffed up in a tale of mine, that sort of thing.
Stay sexy,
Moon-Drummer

General | Posted 6 years agoIf you are a sucker for forbidden romances like me, then you really need to check out the work of
geminisaint.
They've created a beautiful graphic novel called "My Mate," featuring the most adorable foxy boy you could ever want and one hell of a hunky dragon! But it's more than just a sexy read - it's a GOOD read! There's real story and character depth, there. I found myself caught up in both the relationship and the plot!
The comic is also an ongoing one, so you can look forward to more instalments from them in the future!

General | Posted 6 years agoJust Buckingham: Now, what they write IS on the hardcore side of things so be warned. But if you're into that...holy shit do they deliver! I think I made it through maybe a fourth or even a fifth of the first story I read. Lots of good kinky stuff here wrapped up with size, muscle, violence and destructive rampages.
Oh and did I mention they take commissions?

General | Posted 6 years agoHey, boys.
So sorry for the long delay between stories. Rest assured, I am working on some new stuff. Want to make sure you boys get the best fap material I can subject you to, hehehe.
In the mean time, I thought I might share some of MY favorite writers of furry smut. In case anyone was curious who I think does good work.
First up we have XenophilicText
http://www.furaffinity.net/user/xenophilictext/
Wonderful descriptions and very creative ;) Whenever I'm in the mood for something kinky/unusual, they're who I tend to look up.
Second, there is xSini
http://www.furaffinity.net/user/xsini/
Now, xSini's work is borderline stuff for me, in terms of what I think is inherently sexy. But somehow, they have a way of turning those 'maybe's' into 'oh god fuck yes yes's' :P Goes to show you what the power of great writing can do in the hands of a master!
Last but certainly not least, I highly recommend two fellow masters of muscle fiction.
SuperWaffle wrote some totally awesome epic muscle growth stories back in the day and they're still worth the read. You can find his work here: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/superwaffle
Tube is another beast altogether. If you were to ask me who I think the best of the best is, this guy is it. He's also published so if you get the chance to purchase his work DO IT. You will NOT be disappointed. You can still read his "Contraindictions" story in the 'Scraps' section of his profile. It is the best furry muscle story I have ever read.
You can find it here: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/tube
As a bonus, I'll also bring your attention to a story from a non-furry porn fiction site called "MetaBods" that I've loved for pretty much as long as I've been an adult. It's called 'The Minotaur Equation' and I dare you to get through even a few pages of it without getting off!
You can find it here: https://www.metabods.com/stories/the-minotaur-equation
So there you go. Some extra stuff to satisfy you until I can treat you boys to my next excursion into muscle smut! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.
Love,
Moon-Drummer

Update: New Story! Also, Help!
General | Posted 7 years agoYes, at long last I've managed to post another tale for you, boys! It's another one where I try to explore a culture not my own. I sincerely hope I did it justice. I am always trying to write carefully. Please let me know how well I succeeded.
I need some technical help. It seems like I can never get the formatting exactly right on stories I post. All those annoying question marks drive me crazy, but I'm not sure how to fix it.
I've tried:
1. Saving it as a .txt file.
2. Resaving it under ANSI coding (a suggestion by another fur).
If anyone has some insight into how to resolve this, PLEASE help!
Thanks!

Update: New Story, What I've Been Up To
General | Posted 7 years agoFirst of all, an apology.
For anyone who was waiting for more fiction or even looking to me for writing advice, I never meant to drop out of sight for so long. Life happens. In my case, "life" includes studying for my business degree, bodybuilding, spending time with my mate and friends, and working on my first full novel.
I'm entering my final year of university now, and looking ahead with trepidation of what's to come. There are serious financial challenges ahead for me within the next year, which I'm not ready to face as yet. Writing these stories for you boys is my escape valve. So, in a way, I'm getting as much out of these tales as you do. ;)
At long last, I have a new story ready to post. I hope you all enjoy it. I'm trying to take a break from the more romantic stories to focus more on pure erotica. Let me know what works and what doesn't. I'm always trying to improve!

Weekly Update: Keeping Me Honest, Being True To Your Subject
General | Posted 9 years agoSo I recently had a run in with a critic who essentially accused me of racism (see Hero: Chapter 4 comments for details). Now, it would be easy to tell them they're reading too much into the story, but it does highlight one of the risks I take when I write the kind of stories I do.
If you've read a good number of my stories, you'll notice that I sometimes like to insert elements of real world cultures into my work - Arabic culture (Passion in the Desert), French culture (An American Fox in Paris), and Latino culture (Dancing with Mesteno). I do this because I think it makes the stories more interesting. I also do it because I think diversity is sexy.
But in doing so, there is a risk I might offend readers who are really from those cultural backgrounds. I have a background in anthropology, but I don't claim to be an expert on any of the cultures or ethnic groups I chose to portray in my work.
That being said, I do my best to avoid caricatures. I try to make so-called "ethnic" characters just as nuanced and sophisticated as any others. Obviously, I'm not always successful. But I want to improve. So if any of my characters DO come off as some sort of flat ethnic stereotype, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know! Send me a PM, preferably, rather than blasting it all over the comments page. But DO tell me! I am only human, and I make mistakes.
This seems like a good time to talk about one of the principles to good writing - being true to your subject. A "subject" can be anything you're portraying through your writing. It can be a place, a group of people, a period in history, and so on.
But whenever you do write about something that really exists, it is imperative that you do at least a bare minimum of homework. Especially in this day and age, readers WILL call you out on your bullshit and your inaccuracies. And that destroys their trust in you as a writer.
Now, no one can always been 100% accurate. And there is such a thing as artistic license. But a writer always has to choose how much accuracy to balance against how much license.
To use an example from my last story, "Hero," there is a rape scene. It's largely implied and the full consequences of it are glossed over. That was a deliberate choice to avoid taking the readers' attention away from the main themes. But if the story had been ABOUT rape, then certain points must follow in order to remain true to that subject:
Rape is traumatic. Rape can happen to anyone but usually happens to women. Rape is usually perpetrated by someone close to the victim. These are all facts. And if I were to write a story about a rape victim and NOT include every one of these, then people would have every right to be upset with me.
You must strive to do the same in your work, even if a given subject is something you find uncomfortable or difficult. You have to be willing to sacrifice your own comfort zone to tell the story as it SHOULD be told. Readers also may not like the imagery you evoke. But if the imagery BELONGS there, and isn't just there for shock value, then let them get upset.
One of the less acknowledged benefits of having a right to freedom of speech is the right to be true to one's subject in fiction, without fear of being censored for being lewd or socially unacceptable. That's why a lot of libraries will celebrate "Banned Books Month," to highlight this point.
So don't be afraid of those things you find hard to talk about in print. Your writing will be stronger because of it.
Hope this helps!

Weekly Update: Post-Attack and Future Plans
General | Posted 9 years agoHaven't been on FA since the Event. For some reason, the password reset wasn't accepting my e-mail address. But it's all better now, thanks to
Dragoneer and all the other hard-working fuzzies of the FA staff. I owe them a big thanks for getting it all sorted out.
As for what's coming - Still going to post my furry muscle version of the Island of Dr. Moreau because that's done and I want to give you boys something tantalizing to read while I finish up my Father's Day special. ;)

Weekly Update: Formatting Experiments
General | Posted 9 years agoSo now that I've finished re-working King of the Orcs a bit, I can get around to posting new content. I'm thinking of experimenting with PDFs instead of .txt format. Although it won't show up as text you can read right away just by scrolling, I don't think it's too hard to click the 'Download' button in order to read.
I discovered that if the story is PDF, your first click on the Download just makes a nice full page black and white text you can read. So when I post my next stand-alone story that hopefully won't be a mini-novel (why do I always MAKE those?) it'll be a PDF so I can track the metrics of it to see if it makes a difference.
Specifically, I'll be paying attention to the number of faves and comments the story gets and compare it to those from a .txt story of similar length. Because SCIENCE!
Look for the first postings of "Hero," my epic furry bodybuilding sports drama, sometime in the coming week!

Weekly Update: Father's Day, Writing Routines
General | Posted 9 years agoAlright, let's do this!
Not much to report this week, since I've had work and tax filings to worry about. However, it seems like these early mornings are when my furry porn muse shows up. Which is a perfect segue to a bit of advice for other writers out there:
*Puts on some glasses to lend him a greater look of authority as a grey-muzzle fur*
If you are serious about your craft, it is important to set aside some time every day to work on it. And it is important that it be the SAME TIME OF DAY each day. Our brains love routine. Going to bed at the same time every night, you start to become naturally tired around that time after a while. It's the same with writing.
Dedicating a specific time of day to writing will, over time, teach your brain to warm up its creative centers in anticipation. You will find your ideas flow more naturally, and you will experience less writer's block.
Also, adding this time to your daily routine will ensure you make steady progress on your writing.
*Removes glasses*
So there you have it, boys. I'll be hammering away at your Father's Day gift and uploading the other completed stories over the next couple of weeks. As always, I'm happy to answer questions or messages.
Stay good, guys!

Story Formatting and Fan Update
General | Posted 9 years agoWhat's up, boys?
I have a question for you - Does story formatting matter? Do you prefer to read your stories here on the site or download and read them?
I've found that when I go to read someone's story, I tend to ignore the big box of text in favor of hitting the download button so I get the nice white background with black text. It doesn't download the document but it makes it much easier to read.
At the same time, I prefer stories that have the full text on display to those you have to download to view.
So what do my boys like?
I'm more than happy to continue putting my stories into txt format so they'll display on FA, but if it's extra work I don't need to do, it would be nice to know that.
Now, on to what you really want to hear about!
I haven't had a lot of time to write in the last few months due to final exams. Now that it's the summer break, progress should pick up.
The big news? The next big story is finally DONE! It's a monster of a manuscript - 125 pages in total - but I hope it will be well worth the wait. I still need to format it for a txt version, and then it will be all yours to enjoy. You voted, and I delivered: It's the muscle-themed sports drama.
As for what's next - the re-formatting of King of the Orcs is proceeding. Look for significantly longer chapters and fewer of them.
I've also finished up the Island of Dr. Moreau-themed story. I anticipate having that uploaded by July. Why July? Because I have a month and a half to get a little Father's Day surprise ready for you ;)
After that, you won't see much out of me for a while, as I am working on a private story commission.
Other things I'm considering:
1. Posting my work on DeviantArt. It would be good to expand my exposure to a new venue.
2. Starting to create regular weekly updates with the idea that it will expand my fan base.
3. Offering writing advice. This would be included in my weekly updates, but I'm also happy to answer private writing questions you might have.
4. Offering a paid furry fiction critique and editing service. So, you pay me money, I take a look at your story and offer feedback on things like: is the plot consistent? Are the characters flat? What can you cut out to make the story stronger? I will also check your spelling and grammar.
If you have any thoughts on these last four ideas - and they are just ideas at this point - please do share them! Either in a comment or a private message.
Stay furry, fluffballs!

General | Posted 9 years agoI'm going to be removing the story and then re-uploading it with better divisions between the chapters. So if you have the story favorited, just be aware that it will mysteriously vanish in the near future!
Preview of Upcoming Stories
General | Posted 10 years agoThis month has been super busy for me with school work, bodybuilding, and two part time jobs. But when I can or when the muse inspires me, I chip away at more sizzling muscle smut to feed my hungry fans! So, while I don't have any new stories to post yet, I thought you boys might appreciate knowing what's cooking:
1) "50 Shades of Ray": Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like - a muscle fur gay porn spoof on the famous so-called S/M erotica bestseller. Only, in my case, it really is 50 different kinky sex scenes between the huge kinky water buffalo Ray and his super-rich leopard employer.
2) "Hero": A sports drama about a huge buff fox with a heart of gold who develops a rivalry with the biggest reigning champion on the national bodybuilding circuit. Will he have what it takes to stand up to him on the big stage?
3) Untitled cuckhold themed story about a married human who gets swept off his feet and stolen away by a huge, hunky gorilla.
4) Untitled story that's another shameless translation - this time of the classic H.G. Welles story "The Island of Dr. Moreau" - into gay muscle smut. This one's a lot of fun because I get to try writing in a period specific style.
5) Untitled story that I'm REALLY hoping to finish before "Orctober" ends. For all you orcs and orc lovers out there, this is my tribute to our favorite green-skinned badasses. It's a massive project that'll probably be posted in instalments. Pretty simple premise - a human who secretly lusts for orcs saves the life of an orc leader and is adopted into his warband. The human earns a place among his new chosen people by teaching orcs the ways of bodybuilding. This one's actually based on a personal fantasy of mine. So hope you enjoy it. ;)
Which one are you boys most eager to read? Let me know in your comments and I'll see if I can finish them up fast!
I'm hoping in the future to post stories on a more regular basis. Maybe once a month.
In the mean time, if you like what I've written, I'd appreciate it if you spread the word to other guys you think might enjoy my stories.
Stay strong!

AROOOOOOOO!!! I'M BAAACK!
General | Posted 10 years agoYes, boys! The big wolf is BACK, and he has a SHIT TON of new story ideas he's going to be posting just as soon as he can pump them out! Seems my yiffy muscle smut muse has finally found me again and it just won't let me alone until I've given you boys something to whet your appetites with!
So go to my gallery and check out "Sessions." It's a quickie but a goodie. Hope you like it.
P.S. - It's easier for me to post my stories as .docx files, but that does mean you'll have to download it in order to read it. Does that matter to you boys? Let me know! I'm happy to post a .txt version that will show up readable on FA.

DELETING ACCOUNT
General | Posted 11 years agoNot because I have to, but because it's part of a larger effort to sort of clean house and get things in order for a major IRL move.
I haven't been Moon-Drummer for several years, now. He represents who I was when I first joined the fandom, and who I was through my college years. Now that I'm more seasoned and have changed fursonas, this part of my past has grown more and more irrelevant to my future.
I mainly want to say thank you to everyone who has ever enjoyed my writing or encouraged me with your comments and your favorites. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are what make this crazy fandom we're all a part of into something worthwhile.
It's not every day that a shop keeper throws open his doors and invites people to loot him. But that's essentially what I'm doing here. By the end of the month, everything I've posted onto this profile WILL BE GONE. I WILL NOT HAVE OFFLINE BACK UP COPIES.
So if there are any images or stories you don't want to lose, PLEASE download them.

Furry Fine Art To Be Put in Art Museum
General | Posted 13 years agoHypothetical situation: Some major art museum wants to showcase a fine art exhibit in their temporary gallery on the theme of "furry art." As in, artwork from the furry fandom. The idea is that they want to show that such are can be of fine art/art museum caliber. And they want your suggestions for pieces/artists to include.

The Trouble With Furries and Drama Defined
General | Posted 13 years agoOne of the recurring things I've noticed during my research on FA is critiques of immature behavior in the fandom and furs who take being a fur "too far." There is also the issue of "drama," and pinning down what exactly constitutes "drama" is rather elusive.
Then I found this article on TVtropes.org and I think it really encapsulates all the various ways the fandom goes wrong, the bad stereotypes furries have (well, amongst themselves anyway. Let's not get into the 'furries are perverts' stereotypes), and helps to explain all the various activities that come to be classified as "drama."

(Incidentally, if anyone out there reading this knows how to create a link in a journal, I'd appreciate knowing. Posting URLS just looks so sloppy)

Last Round of FA Research Questions
General | Posted 13 years agoI'll be wrapping up my research on FA in the next few months. I just have a few unanswered research questions that came up and I thought I'd share them with you. Not sure how important they are to the overall project, but that's the nature of social science. You don't know which questions end up being the really important ones until much later.
1. Animated avatars vs. non-animated avatars. To what extent are avatars status symbols? Does having an animated avatar vs. a regular one or even no avatar at all affect one's popularity?
2. How does a topic thread on the FA forums get made into a sticky?
3. To what extent are the number of posts one has on the FA forum a status symbol within the forum?
4. Evidence of community in the FA forum vs. journals and art comments. Which community is more active? How much do they overlap?
5. What is the "Rant" section of the forum actually used for vs. what it is stated to be there for?
6. What, if any, social consequences are there for being banned from the FA forum or from FA in general for a time?
Larger topics on the furry fandom I will eventually be investigating:
1. The furry fandom and sexual orientation. I've noticed a pattern. It seems like some furs use the furry fandom as a medium for dealing with coming out as a homosexual IRL. I plan to research this further.
2. Furry art as sex objects and evidence that artists might feel pressured to draw adult content even if they don't intend to. Some artists who originally only drew clean or mildly suggestive art find themselves 'drifting' toward more explicit material.
3. Furs with kinks that make them socially ostracized from the rest of the fandom. For example, diaper furs and zoophiles.
4. The episode with Chewfox and Tyra Banks.
5. References to a "furry flag."
6. Furries' use of Livestream.
7. Furries and anime in general, Otakon specificially.
8. Furry-related blogs, such as those on Blogspot.com.
9. Interviews with the most popular artists/users of the websites I plan to study, FA included.

Looking for Non-English Speakers
General | Posted 13 years agoI'd like to set up a series of interviews with furs who don't speak English as their first language. I want to talk to them about their experiences, feelings, and frustrations in using FA and being in a fandom that is generally English-speaking. I want to include their perspective in my book and find out how they deal with the language barrier.
So if you are a non-English speaking fur or if you know of any, please let me know!

If You Like My Stories, PLEASE READ THIS
General | Posted 13 years agoI'm officially retiring from yiffy fiction. I don't mean I've given up writing altogether, and I may eventually try to get a more "serious" furry story published. But I don't plan to write any more of the juicy muscle smut you all enjoy.
The fact of the matter is I've changed over the years. When I started out writing, I was a fairly skinny guy RL, just starting out as an amateur bodybuilder, and I was all alone. It was just me and my muscle fantasies. The feelings I had - from the frustrations and efforts in the gym to all that pent-up passion - were what I drew on when I wrote my yiffy stories.
In the years since, I have grown from 130 lbs to almost 190 lbs, and I have fallen in love with a sweet, kind, and utterly beautiful water drake who has become my mate and my SOUL mate as well.
So you see, I no longer have those intense feelings of muscle lust that I used to. Now I'M the big guy in the gym instead of oggling them. And my mate is there to fill up my heart, my life, and yes, my lust as well. I'm much happier and more relaxed than I used to be.
But while my personal life has taken a turn for the better, it means that I no longer have the same feelings and passions to draw upon in order to inspire my yiff stories. My "yiffy muse" only gets worked out now in private RPs with friends, and that seems to be enough for me.
I just wanted you all to know that. I feel I owe it to all my fans to give a candid explanation of why there probably won't be any more Moon-Drummer muscle yiff stories.
I can't tell you all how much I've appreciated all the support and the kind words you've had for my writing over the years. I hope you continue to enjoy the stories (I don't plan to take them down, so don't panic ;) ) and if I ever do get "inspired" again, you just might see one or two new ones pop up eventually. You never know.
Keep reading and keep pumping, boys.

Update!
General | Posted 13 years agoRESEARCH: Over 100 surveys sent out! Awooo! Still only got 17 back, but hey, that's close to 1 in 5!. I'm having to delay sending out more surveys because I'm using the website FA Rank (http://popufur.com/) to obtain my standard random sample, and the site is currently down. I started reading journal and forum entries again so I can collect a nice juicy pool of data on what furs on FA generally talk about with each other.
Also, I got some tips on doing online research from a new book: "Netnography" by Robert V. Kozinets. One thing I read that kinda made my eyes bug out - he considers a "fairly small" amount of data for a typical ethnography to consist of 1,000 double spaced pages.
LIFE: My RL body is up to 183 lbs of muscle and I'm shooting to be 190 by this summer, which was my "dream weight" when I started bodybuilding. Plus it's going to be my 30th birthday this year, so I should really plan something super smashing to celebrate both achievements.
Any suggestions? Post them in the comments!
I'd really, really like to see my mate and my fur friends in Wisconsin this summer to help me celebrate.
This has been THE month for losing things: my wallet (lost and found again), my phone (through the wash/dryer, bought a new one today), my house key (lost and found again), my winter hat (almost) and my weight lifting straps (lost 1 and found it again). Thank evolution for that canine sense of smell, eh?
I got by a niiiice juicy tax return this year as well, so I think I may buy myself a brand new laptop, which would be sweet as hell since I could upload all of my tabletop RPG PDFs onto it and that would save a lot of time when it comes to designing and running my games.

Another Update
General | Posted 14 years agoRESEARCH: I've sent out about fifty some surveys so far and gotten back perhaps ten, which about what one can expect from the average survey, I'm told. Did a bit of lurking on the FA forums to read what people are writing about.
LIFE: Waiting to hear back from the graduate schools as to whether or not I've gotten accepted. I had a Skype interview with the department head of the Communication and Culture program at York University this afternoon, so that went well. Actually, his tone and intonation reminded me so much of my high school science teacher I kept picturing them as the same guy!

Big Wolf's Holiday
General | Posted 14 years agoObviously I didn't do a whole lot of research over the holidays. I and my ma flew to Boston/Cambridge to spend the holiday with my sister, her husband and the new pup of the family - Shaelyn.
Shaelyn is only 3 months old but she already seems incredibly bright and inquisitive about things. My mate was able to join me as well, so it was a really classic family gathering, complete with carols and a bit of snow fall.
New Years was kind of the opposite, I just had work the whole time.
Anyways, planning on pumping out those surveys (finally!) and maybe continuing a few interviews if I can swing them, though most of the ones for FA are pretty much done.
