Helloooo upstate NY~
Posted 13 years agoYou're really cold! And wet. I feel like I time traveled... from mid-summer to the beginning of Winter, all in less than two days. I'm so glad to be out of Colorado... I'll miss my
kosi-ukami somethin' fierce and my buds from work, but I had to get out of the city. Not to insult anyone from Denver and such, but I must've been surrounded by the biggest douchebags and not even known it. Everybody here is so friendly, and make eye contact with you, and smile and they're just... real. It's not all about the drama, the hippie bullshit, the money, that mine-mine-mine mentality. I am so much more relaxed.
Also, I would love to send a message to those pseudo-hippies back west: if you really want to eat good stuff for you, stop buying into that "organic", "good for the earth", "biodegradable", "50% less packaging" crap and grow it yourselves...
That being said, I've only been really here two days, and like every city-slicker-in-the-country movie, I didn't want to do any farm work at first, but it's not really that bad.

to the woman with the aggressive dog,
Posted 14 years agoI probably should have gotten your name or something, but I digress; Keep your damn dog on a leash. And not on the leash but you're not actually holding it... I mean under control. It's dark. Your dog is black. And he has shitty recall skills. I don't even think he knows his name. So next time, when I come into the courtyard, I don't want your aggressive dog to greet me and my polite awesome dog. I don't want to get to know your dog one-on-one like I did tonight. And I mean it. If I meet him again, you're probably going to get a fuckin' fine. Big whoop, but that shit can get you evicted.
What happened was... I was walking Loki and we went into the little court yard... it's got a gazeebo and plants and stuff. There is also a lot of drama here. There's some old woman who takes pictures of dogs not on leashes. Where was she tonight? Anywho, it's VERY clear that in this area, you must keep the dog on a leash. Loki has amazering heeling skills, but just cuz of the drama, I won't let him off. So I go in the little area and I see a chick with blonde hair and a guy with a white/light hat and a tan shirt. Then I hear "Luke/Logan/lucky whatever COMME! Come! LUKE come!" I see no dog. Like.. ok, maybe it listened? No. No it didn't. He came about 10 feet over to Loki and I, and his hackles were up... tail was poofed and raised high... then he turned his side to us. I could see he wasn't sure. Then Loki did his play bow and tail wag and OHH PLAY WITH MEEE! so the dog dropped his tail and came over and I thought it was cool. He didn't try to dominate or anything. Then the lady comes up and all hell breaks loose. The dog snarls and jumps Loki, who just rolls and CRIES and screams, he's not even trying to fight the dog. Loki is just throwing his feet at the dog, flailing. Loki gets up all quick and runs to the end of his leash, I'm getting pulled and this dog is on top of Loki. The lady and her male friend are just WATCHING. WATCHING!!! So I'm like... GOING IN! And I jump on top of that fucker. Well, I had both of their necks pinned, but Loki is trying to get away so I wasn't too worried about him jumping in and ALL I see in my face is this dog's teeth. It's dark, teeth are BRIGHT. I'm still holding him down and Loki is 6 feet away on his leash and my knee is in the dog's side and he's still trying to go after Loki (or me). The dumb bitch then comes over and GINGERLY PICKS UP THE LEASH. OH WHAT A CONVENIENCE! A GODDAMN LEASH!! Dog is silent, I get up and he darts away, and she's like, "oh, sorry, sorry." and I'm like "JESUS FUCKIN' CHRIST LADY!"
She just goes "I said I'm sorry!" Like, what is that going to do?! I had to find a street light really fast to check Loki so I did, and I didn't see bruising or any tears/cuts. Then I stepped in poo! THEN I saw some other lady coming into the courtyard so I ran over and told her what happened. Her doggie was nice and Loki was happy to see him... so... I guess it worked out...
BUT COME ON. I wish I could slap people around so much sometimes. :| I lubs my puppy and would never let anything like that happen to him. He's been glued to me more than normal since it happened, though. *shrug* As sad as it sounds, he's my bff.

finally, a step in the right direction...
Posted 14 years agoHad a good b-day... but my hubby gave me the best gift he ever could. A push... a shove... in the right direction of where I wanna go in life.
Got me a beginner's tattoo kit. It's got two machines, all sorts of stuff for said machines, tons of needles, transfer paper, fake skin, fancy case and a ton of inks to mess with. I cried when I opened the case... well, I cried when I realized what it was... I thought it was an airbrush at first (hey, leave me alone, all I saw was some shiny shit aaaand I just woke up aaand I didn't have my glasses on.... shh, excuses, excuses I know). And I had been saying I wanted one for a long time...
But I have also been saying for FOREVER how I want to be a tattoo artist. And I've tried several times for an apprenticeship but it all comes down to moolah.. which I have none of, and I can't blame the artists for not doing it for free! I already have four clients waiting for me to get good with it, lol. Not including myself... I'm gonna be my own guinea pig!
Super stoked about it... I am mostly familiar with my machines now, though I don't know how to fix them if something serious bites the dust on it. I practiced on a grapefruit and the fake skin already to get a feel and it's not at all what I expected! I thought my damn hand would be flying all over the place and I'd be stabbing folks... but it's not like that at all. I'm gonna see where I can get some pig skin this weekend and try it on that. :3
I think the hardest part for me is learning how to keep everything clean and sterile. So much to think about!
Ooohhh yeah, then I can become a full-time artist. X3

Posted 14 years agoTomorrow is my birthday. I have nothing planned. I have no life, hah. I wish it wasn't a Wednesday, otherwise I'd party. But I'm going camping this weekend so hopefully I can make up for it then! Weather permitting...
I tried to play that QWOP game, and it's freakin' hard! I only got to 2.3 meters! Lame!
As far as my 23rd year of life has been... it's... okay. I realize that if I'm gonna get ahead in life, I need to embrace my entire being, and to stop criticizing myself so hard. Enjoy my own company.

Posted 14 years agoI'm not dead. I swear. I have a few dolls I'm working on and of course, work. I get vacation time soon. Woo hoo!
Bought my 3ds last weekend along with pokemon black, and I must say, my socks ate completely blown off by this game. It is beyond epic! I'm in the big city, can't remember the name, but its incredible for a pokemon game. I'll make a post about my bro code later.
I may have an addiction! XD
WAHHH FRIEND CODE IS GO: Moonie 2709 1489 1742
I can't remember if your trainer name is important or not, but there it is anyways!

Posted 15 years agoHappy New Year everyone. I'm not dead or anything... just not around online so much anymore. The busy season is final done at work, now we wander around trying to find stuff to do, hah! I also got my holiday gifts for my friends done, which means I need to post pictures of what I've been up to (sculpting) and now I have some free time. I also purchased Mario Kart for the Wii, so if you wanna race (and lose!) we can exchange numbers and stuff. Bowser's the shit. >:3
Colorado has barely gotten any snow! WTF! I love snow, that's like... half the reason why I'm here! D:< Snow driving is the best!
Also hosted a wicked New Years' Eve party in which I... um... I feel kinda bad about it, cuz it was my party, but I passed out on the couch. I woke up long enough to do the countdown and toot my horn, then I was like, "MAKE WAY!!!" and I ran the hell outside and puked aaaaaallll over the place. That's a first for me, hah, and it seriously didn't hurt at all. The next day, I wanted to die. I spent the whole day sleeping with my cats and dog and hovering around a puke bucket and the toilet! Never drinking that hard again, lol!
Also about to hit 40,000 pageviews. Holy cow, I never thought it'd happen! Thanks you guys! I hope I get to draw and art more this year!

Posted 15 years agoI got my car back. $2,754 later... ugh. Holy shit. The mechanic dude showed me my old valves and crankshaft and I don't know much about cars, but even I could tell something was wrong. The valves were all bent out to the sides and the crankshafty thing was like... not cranky enough. And then my timing belt was chewed to shit. Had like 20 teeth left on it and it's supposed to have roughly fifty billion. And then my water pump had leaked into my engine or something so...
I'm glad to have it back, I think. I am worried about it... I mean, I had a crappy Mazda I never took care of and it only died like twice (but they were small fixes), and this car, I change out fluids and oils and all kinds of stuff and it dies on me two years after I bought it. And everything for it has to be special ordered or is stupidly expensive for the same shit BUT it won't run on normal shit and UGHHH I don't know. 3 more years left on my loan, I just hope it doesn't die again. Then my ass is getting a Jeep. *nods* I can only pray that nothing else is going to go wrong. Puuuuhhhlease, VW gods, smile upon me!
I drove it around and got some gas in it after I got it back. Then I gave it a poorman's carwash (ya know those squeedgies at the gas station? Took full advantage of them!) and took it home. The mechanic guy said I should do all these things and tests and said I shouldn't have too many issues cuz it's a manual. Then I got lectured on how my car is going to drive differently and how timing belts work and how every 50k-60k you should check that damn belt.
CHECK THEM GODDAMNIT.
I'm happy I don't have to drive around that cargo van everywhere now. It's huge. I tower over everyone. Now my car feels like a friggen go-kart or something. It'll take some getting used to, I suspect. :P

Alive-n-kickin'... and questions about computers!!
Posted 15 years agoIT LIVES~!
Okay, so I'm hopefully going to be returning to the internet within the next couple weeks. HOPEFULLY. UGH. I had to go out of town for two weeks and I juuust got back. And right before I left, my flippin' car shut off on me while I was going down the damn highway. Kinda scary cuz I have power steering and brakes, and when you don't have power, you barely have EITHER! Now I can't get her running again, we replaced a bunch of stuff, but spark plug no. 4 never fires (according to the diagnostics test and looking at the damn thing). So tomorrow we have to send it off to a mechanic... it's gonna be an expensive trip, I think. D: I do love my car, though. I just have to take my husband's MASSIVE e-350 van to work... it's a beast. I feel like a trucker when I drive it. 8D I even thought of a call name! "Puddle Shuttle"! Just cuz everytime I have to drive somewhere, I have to pee. D:
Art has been okay. I've been workin' on a comic/story while I've been MIA, planning on having it all written out and planned and everything before I really REALLY start on it. I keep changing my character designs! I have a few pages drawn and colored already, but I don't want to upload them just yet. :>
Computerssss... oh my gosh, where do I begin? I'm looking to get a new one, I just haven't been in the market for one in 5 years? I have an Emachine now, everyone says they're junk but I looove mine. It's just getting on in age, slowing down... and I can't upgrade it more than I have. Motherboard can't handle it. The Emachines I was looking at in Best Buy seemed okay, but fuck, I don't want Vista or Windows 7. I don't know if any of my stuff can work on it. Does SAI and OpenCanvas work on a Windows 7 machine? And from what I've heard, Vista is a memory hog... is Windows 7 the same? I don't need a fancy gaming computer, just a standard everyday computer (with loads of RAM and a nice processor!). I just wanted to ask you guys what kind of machines you had, what have you had luck with?
I promise I'll draw more once I get a new computer~ :P

commissions & apologies
Posted 15 years agoTo mah commissioners: oh my gosh you guys, I'm sooo sorry I've been so quiet. I really honestly meant to have all my commissions done by now... but then I got this job and this damn wedding is coming and then fixing the old house... gah. I've had like 15 minutes a night to do anything. Weekends are taken up with house-fixing and chores and getting out of the house in general so I don't go crazy... I miss being able to sit down and draw.
So I guess what I'm saying is that... I have to cancel my outstanding commissions. That's like... all of them. I have one picture I've been trying to finish for like a month now and I gave out a refund! I feeeeeel so awful!
I do adore where I work and I love having some money finally... I just miss free time.
Again you guys... I am so sorry.

RAGGARAGGARAGGAAAAAA~
Posted 15 years agoI AM BACK! UNF!
Would've had interbutts sooner, but we had some... water issues... and our brand new apartment got flooded. We just gotten settled, too! Ugh! Next week we can finally get our carpets back (the floor/concrete shit is still moist... just not to the touch but you can see dryness/wetness and OMG it's so humid in here because of it!).
Water slowly crept into my office and stopped about 2 feet away from my powerstrip and tower. D: COULDA BEEN BAD!
Commisshies will be open again shortly. Like. Monday or something. *shrugs*
This complex has a pool and I've been swimming like everyday. Not really... but a LOT. You think I would be tired of water, but nooo! XD
OH AND THEN I finally got OpenCanvas working for me again, so I might be on the prowl for OC buddies!

FFFFFFFFFFrant
Posted 15 years agoUGH. Work is being... evil! I requested time off to pack a ton of my shit, see my family/hang out with my sister (she is moving to Alaska, I hate herrrr!), chill with my sister-in-law and have a yard sale... and it got denied. Groovy, you just let me know 3 days before my s.i.l's flight and I have to go pick her up. How the shit am I gonna do that if I'm doing stupid shit at a cash register?! Hubby can't go pick her up, either!
Why can't we hire anymore people? To be as busy as Wally Word and only have four people on the floor and ONE cashier... oh my gosh. I haven't been able to leave work on time at all lately! The bosses don't do squat either, they just strut around like proud roosters and sit in their offices. God forbid if you try to get your work done instead of back-up cashiering, they'll get out of their office, walk past the busy registers, find you and yell at you.
I got half a mind to tell them I quit, pick up a few commissions, then go back to work after stuff settles back down. I have enough in the savings to keep my shit afloat for a little, and like I said, I could take a few commisshies, but I dunno.
If I made more, I'd take the bullshit, but I only make 80 cents more than minimum wage...

If I made more, I'd take the bullshit, but I only make 80 cents more than minimum wage...
hiatusy-thing
Posted 15 years agoI prolly won't be around too much the next couple months, I got a bunch going on... work, looking for work, possibly going back to school, movinggggggg...
If I update anywhere, it'll probably be on my personal website (howlingrizzly.webs.com), just so I don't have so many comments to worry about, hehee. :P

Commission and Art info
Posted 16 years agoI have right now:

Then I have to mail out
's book.
Howevah, after these all get completed, I won't be taking any more commishies for a little while. I have to prepare and send off some art to get printed, then I have to do some paintings, do some artwork for some family members, make some business cards and other shit. And on top work working almost full time and taking care of a household... leaves me like no time. D:
Plus, there's a 98% chance we're moving in April. Must pack.
AND THEN the best thing ever: I'm gonna be attempting to put together a webcomic. It'll be porn! Woo! Probably mostly hermy-shemale things on girl action. Fun times! I have like 17 pages of it written (mostly written on work breaks, hahaha) and then I did some character designs and... ohh. This is like the most I've ever put into a story. XD
So it looks like my comic (actually, the name of it is Sushi) is going to be hosted on Blogger.

the plan
Posted 16 years agoI'm gonna start freelancing full-time once I get my tax return.
I have a lot to do. Legal crap, tax crap, finish art that I owe people (lol, Christmas doesn't help that one XD)... ugh. But I think I can pull through (even if my arms fall off from drawing too much!). I need to practice more. There are a lot of freelancing jobs out there that pay really nice, but they don't last too long. And that's okay, it'll keep things interesting. I fail at finding a real fulltime job... there like... aren't any. And the ones that are out there, they want like 30000 years of experience. I just have the schooling, not so much experience.
On some of these freelance art sites, some of the people there want like $20 an hour... and they draw like I did when I was 15. It's not pretty. Loose lines, poor coloring and shading, and the anatomy. Oh god.
So in theory, I should have enough to start attending art shows and cons! Oooh, how exciting! I still need to finish my website. It got pushed back when I had to make Christmas ornaments and candies. But it's over now so yaaaay~
Now I have to go to the DMV. D:<

SECOND LIIIIIIFE
Posted 16 years agoLast night, I couldn't sleep. I didn't have it in me to draw, as I was tired (but not sleepy... and I've been having issues sleeping lately) so I started dickin' around with Second Life. Not literally, lol, but yeah.
In my time there (like from 9 pm - 6 am XD) I didn't see one furry person! I was the only one (but fortunately, people are nice! I was expecting to get flamed or something) and I was just wondering: Where the crap do you guys hang out?
I got that free furry avatar that like... everyone and their moms have. I kept getting called "foxy". I'm not a foxy! So maybe at some point, I'll have to find something that looks more bear-ish. But my little Moonie is soooo cute when she dances! 8D
If it matters (can you look people up on Second Life?) my name's Moonbyrn Snowpaw. Cliche last name, but eh, you can't pick them. :3
I think I'm going to run to the store and get some sleeping pills or something.

Posted 16 years agoJust bumping the old journal off...
Oh man, I've got a bunch to upload... but I totally don't want to deal with my scanner right now. D:
Also, been trying to build a website for myself, but shit, I HATE html shit. Yeah, I'm using Dreamweaver and still being special about it. :P

traditional vs. digital
Posted 16 years agoMy hubby mentioned that traditional art takes more skill than digital. And how traditional art looks so much better than digital.
I dunno... but ever since that conversation, I've been focusing more on my traditional stuff. I used to ONLY do trad. stuff... (oh my gosh, you should see all of my supplies!) then I did half-n-half and now I'm like strictly digital. Computer drawing is nice, you don't have to worry about the care of all your pencils and brushes and colors bleeding everywhere and shit. You just plug the tablet in and go. And you can mask things and lasso things and move shit around. And color correcting and the almightly CTRL Z!
But the traditional stuff... I don't know. I think it takes more skill to master. Er. I KNOW it takes more skill to master. You can't rely on sliders and percentages on paper. You have to know how to fix it yourself.
I do love digital art. I love how crisp it all is. It's just delicious. I love how it pops!
So since then, I bought some fancy drawing pencils. And I've started off at square one. You know. Looking at references and life drawing. I went to the Bass Pro shop (it's a hunting store) and started looking at all their deer, elk, moose and bison mounts. I know on some of them, the taxidermist royally fucked the anatomy up (so obviously I didn't use those) and... uh... yeah. Been 'studying' lots of animal books and drawing books. I'll upload some of my junk later.
In other news, I'm awaiting approval from Rabbit Valley. So then I can sell prints!! Woo!
