It took a long long time for Discord to emerge from the statue at full power after being changed into stone from the Elements of Harmony. If he was released again, I predict while still very powerful, his reality altering ability would be very very limited being re-released a few months after the Season 2-parter.

Throwing himself on the mercy of Celestia to not be returned to stone, she relents but with the provision that he remain under a type of house arrest.
His big entrance something like...

The palace wagon pulls up and a Hawaiian Shirt and Sunglasses wearing Discord emerges, to the Mane Cast there to see if he'll be trouble out of the gate.

She is amazed at the state of his very strange furnishings as well as his love of pranks. She helps him understand that controlled chaos can still be fun, showing him the fun she has planned for her upcoming birthday, April First.

I've been thinking about stepping into the dodgy and drama filled world of doing commissions.

At the least I am a total novice about such things. I wonder if there is a guide or good set of rule/advice I should look to before deciding if taking such work on is wise?

Just thinking about it.

Ponyville Elementary is taking a field trip to the great museum in Manehatten. Cheerilee has Twilight and Applejack as chaperones for the trip, and while Twilight is in nerd heaven showing the girls the museum and it's vast pony history lessons, Applejack is not as happy to be back in the big city.
"I ain't been here since forever, but I did draw the short straw. Guess a little trip wont hurt none."
The CMC and Twist are looking at the various exhibits, amazed when they come upon the vast recreation of the tomb of young colt king
Hooflankhamane.
"King Hoof... was the youngest Pharaoh of the vast Equestrian desert... "
Twist: "Dessert? I bet that cake was huge!"
Scoot: "No. Desert. As in sand and sun with no surf. No wonder he looks sad."

They look at the stone wall craving and the images of the little unicolt ruler. He seems a bit sad in the carvings.
"Well no wonder he's sad. Lookit!"
Sweetie points to King Hoof's flank. It's blank in all the images.
Scootaloo rolls her eyes bumping a vase, that Twist catches and returns with a wipe of her brow.
"No way! Even this guy! Sheesh."
They look at the sarcophagus and start to wonder if he had a blank flank even when, you know...
"Well, I'm ain't gonna look! Ah, cant even lift the lid!"
They all look to Sweetie and her horn.
"No way! He'll be all mummy and gross!"
"C'mon Sweetie, it'll just be a peek!"
She gives in and starts to concentrate, her little alicorn glowing brighter when trying to lift the stone lid, soon the glowing flashes the room, the stone coffin glowing purple as her unicorn magic flickers out, the lid slides back and as they all screw up the courage to look in, a tan unicorn colt with black hair pops his head out of the ornate box, his bandages falling off his mane.
"Uh... hello?"
They all scream and run to the corner of the exhibit room.
With bravery, Scoot faces down the now emerged Boy King, looking at them with shyness, his bandages completely off as he is in his regal saddle skirt.
"Okay, b-back off mummy boy!"
They proceed to see how scared he is in the unfamiliar surroundings, and with care they help him to calm down and as they share the rest of the museum with him, even stopping at the gift shop. Twilight and the stuffy curator, Mr Teeks, keep almost running into the crew with the resurrected ruler. The gift shop escape happening when Hoof pretends to be a mannikin in a display of his own souvenir merchandise.
They learn he was indeed without a cutie mark, as his long days of being the king never gave him the chance to find that special something that made him special. He was born into his role, and had no time for hobbies or "fun".
So the girls proceed to help him try as many activities within the museum as he can, all while still avoiding Ms. Cheerilee,TS, AJ. and Teeks They try everything from art to dancing, all of which are fun, but never click with the little king. Then in the history of pony sports, a soccer ball is the last of the sports they try, the CMC and Twist all looking exhausted. The king taps the strange ball with a hoof, and then proceeds to dance it between his legs, ricocheting the ball around the hall. TS turns the corner seeing the mess they made of the room and is about to freak when the ball clonks her derpy.
They run from the hall back to the tomb display room and all the while the King is bouncing the ball happy about himself. As he gives a great kick past a few stone guardians in the display, he feels the joy of finding what he loves. A glow shines on his flank and a whooshing Soccer ball is now his cutie mark! He gives all the girls a hug (Twist blushing red as her hair) as the sarcophagus glows pink from within.
"Uh, I think that's my cue... Thank you all!"
He bounces his ball as he enters the stone box with it, and the decorate holder flashes again, looking as if it never was disturbed.
Applejack enters the room as all is back to normal. "Ah found em! Now where have you girls been all this time! Been worried sick about you four!"
Cheerilee follows helping a confused looking TS. "You didn't wreck this room too, the curator is livid!"
"Indeed, why the crayon scrawls on my walls will ne- My word! What did you...do?"
Mr Teeks looks closely with his thick glasses at the wall carving and the ancient artifact now shows a laughing Hooflankhamane, kicking a ball with other pony. His flank in all the artifacts now showing the ball design cutie mark.
All the girls smile to the flabbergasted adults.
Sweetie answers with an honest reply, "Helping a friend!"

A horn is made of keratin as are hooves, thus as magic is focused through an alicorn to perform Unicorn magic, a small form of magic must also transfer though Earth Pony hooves. This being the tactile telekinesis that allows they and all MLP to manipulate delicate things with seemingly blunted hooves. With further study an Earth Pony might find an ability to focus magic through their hooves. Though I think the alicorns natural focusing shape makes the use of arcane powers, more potent and directed through unicorn means.

Pony are generating or tapping into magic and the keratin is the conductor for the use of magic. Those with more magical ability can see this buildup literally coming forth in wild spells and sparking horns, as when young TS was nervous at her audition for magic school and her scare from the rainboom opened the limitation, and her magic flowed out uncontrolled. Even as she used her gift against the Ursa Minor her alicorn sparked as she moved the creature back to it's lair.

Now as Pegasus wings also contain keratin strands, so they also have the properties of this natural psionic magic, focused upon flight and extended manipulation of objects while in flight. As with the magical wagons that pegasi can fly through the air without the pull of gravity offsetting their use. Also it can be said the psychological focus of the flight magic is also taken into account, with the confidence of RD allowing her to achieve a sonic rainboom, and the less confident FS taking a more grounded lifestyle. They focus through the wings for this magical form of flight using negation of aerodynamic principal, as well as overcoming the needed physiological mechanics if such a being had to perform these same mechanics without magic. Guiding this magic is from flapping and without the wings being used in the controlled motion of winged flight, the magical focus is also not achieved. As in, they don't flap, they don't fly. Horn, Hoof, Feather Magic.

The pegasi have the natural ability to walk or lay on clouds like they were solid ground. This gives us a more of an idea about how their magical telekinetic gifts work. A tactile spread of the hoof touch, that allows all pony to use hoof like hand, is transmitted to to the nigh intangible clouds, infusing them with a localized magic solidity in the area that is walked upon or making contact to pegasus body. An observed ability to create gales of wind are another specialized focus of TK gifts, wherein they have the belief that they can move clouds they touch with a breath, and the focus point magic is making this occur. Also the manipulation of precipitation or the creation of lightning/thunder also seem to coincide with the pegasus weather teams physically touching, using their created winds. As an example of lighting/thunder RD giving a small cloud a kick created the ionic charge magically that sent down a bolt and clap.

Now this may explain Pinkie's ability to break the supposed 4th wall(or at least perform feats beyond her Pony kin) Her ability to focus her pony magic though her mane and tail, as discussed in how her psychological states are expressed though her hairstyling, could exhibit a conduit for her to use magic in a massive, yet unconscious way. When determined, she can move as fast, or faster, than RD. When overjoyed she can manipulate spacetime to tout the wonder of making cupcakes. And other feats seen throughout the show.
Yet upon a depressive state her ability is diminished towards psychological manipulation of inanimate objects to project personality traits to the point they can take a life of their own. Yet upon returning to her happy state of mind the projections are broken and she regains the frizz.

Take into account the Pony ability to use their tails(another keratin expression) in a manipulation of physical object. While not as extensive in use, pony like Rarity have grasped objects and moved them about through another focus of these innate psionic gifts. Then pony like Pinkie Pie who have psychological states of mind literally expressed though the styling of her mane and tail, from depressive limp to the happy cotton candy bounce.


A side thought observed by the Earth Pony, mainly Applejack, is how she is able to nearly perfectly buck apples into her carts with a kick to her trees. Now one could say this comes of practice, but as the hoof is involved, I look at this as another use of magic through the keratin focal point from the very first post. She was still able to somewhat manipulate the fall of the bucked apples even in her unfocused and exhausted state, lending wither a manipulation of the falling apple probability, or a directed transmission of how the apples should fall when released from the trees by the force of her bucking.

Mind and body working as one, and using the focal points of hoof, horn, hair and feather. Magical wands from the earliest human histories of "magic" have mostly been believed to create a 'cone of power' or a focal area for the good/bad will of the caster to manipulate their environment. This cone of power, most expressed by the unicorns shows why they have the most affinity for magical gifts of the pony breeds.

Part of my theory connecting the keratin focus of pony magic and the subconscious can also be observed in the story of Rarity finding her cutie mark. She was literally led by the horn by her subconscious casting of the gem finding spell when she most needed her inspiration. Her magic picked her up, cast itself and led her through the air to her fabulous needs. No matter how embarrassing it looked.

Now look at the Princesses Celestia and Luna, they have the Alicorn, Hooves, Tails and Wings, and the level of magical manipulation their part reaches the levels of goddesses. This alignment of ability connected with respective celestial elements as the rotation of the very planet. Though this event will occur even without the manipulation of the two, such as the continued rotation allowing nightfall on the land, even as Luna was banished to the moon. But again this could be explained as they decided upon the division of duties between night and day and both have the power to affect planetary rotation beyond their respective hours. Celestia continued both shifts bringing night and day for the length of her sister's punishment. Observed when Nightmare Moon made it always be night through her rampage.

I also think the hoof bracers, necklace and crowns observed by the Royal duo are helpful in maximizing the use of these abilities as they seem to always wear such items.

But that's another theory set.

When playing poker with the Mane Cast, it's best to know the Tells (Signs that give away their game) of each player.

-Applejack: The eyes. She is never good with holding her gaze steady when bluffing (Watch when she tires to bluff Pinkie in the birthday episode). After Discord took her honesty, this trait is even more apparent.

-Pinkie Pie: Her abundant joy makes her good cards all the more apparent when she starts giggling. When she is trying to bluff, watch for the tone to change in her, and the knowing nods to Gummy dressed as Kenny Rogers.

-Twilight Sparkle: Be aware of the constant flipping through 'Poker for Ponies' open at the table throughout her game. She will reference the bluffing section when doing so, and the calculations she scribbles with her good hand probabilities give those away as well.

-Fluttershy: Hardest to gauge because she keeps hiding her face behind the cards. But she is not one to bluff, because winning through such a trick would most likely upset her. Note that she has the tendency to fold even with a good hand. If she is stopped by Angel when trying to fold, this is probably a great hand.

-Rainbow Dash: She plays fast and loose with her cards. She is willing to give away a sure thing for the chance at the glory of a better hand. Also watch her wings. As she has a better hand, her wings will slowly begin to extend in anticipation.

-Rarity: Hardest of all the girls to play poker with. She has a well set poker face when wanting to win, but she has a very easy tell once you know it. Her OCD makes her organize her pairs and hands into the proper order. Watch the sets she aligns and you can get an idea of her hand. She also has a slight need to go all in when things are in her favor. Be wary.

EXTRA

-Spike: He is not a good player at all. Though he thinks he can keep his good hands a secret, it's obvious by his expressions when he's probably holding. Just be aware that in moments of card playing stress he has been known to send cards raining upon Celestia from a belch of green flame. Bring an extra deck.

-Lyra: The moment you let her know she has a hand she stops playing, laughs maniacally, and runs off with her cards.

-Zecora: You have to watch this clever zebra. Her ability can be as scary as a hydra. The key to her good luck balking, is to get this player talking. As she discards and applies biding her time, her hands are always played set up for her rhyme. When she remarks how the room is so cold. Prepare for this lady to probably fold. But beware most of all when she has the need to say, "I don't know if these cards will make the loyal blush".

-Octavia: Hums while she plays. As she gets better hands you can hear the building notes of Vivaldi's Four Seasons and as she is trying to bluff her humming takes the lilt of Mozart's Cello Sonata in D Major.

They released more clips of the Smurf movie, and I have to say I am changing my mind a bit about the idea. At first it seemed an abomination from the bowels of nostalgic hell, but now I think the movie might laugh at itself enough to make it a fun popcorn film.
Also, I think they did a major overhaul on the CG Smurf design, because they are a lot less jarring than the ones I recall from the prior teasers.

Oh, the Smurfette rule that will spawn from this. It will kill us all.
