New Job, New Apartment, Graduated!
Posted 2 years agoAs the title suggests, there's been a lot going on for me in the last month! I graduated college about two weeks ago, and at the same time moved into a new apartment. And then just a couple of days after that I started a new job, so I had to put a lot of art stuff onto the backburner for a couple weeks. Things might still be a little slow until I'm completely settled in, but I'm starting to feel more comfortable and "moved in" so I've been getting back into the flow of doing character designs, and I'm hoping to upload some commissions over the next few days as well!

Sorry for a bit of an absence here. My life has been pretty busy for the last eight months or so. I was doing a study abroad program in the Netherlands that I just got back from at the beginning of February. It was a ton of fun but also took a lot of my time, so I've only just recently been feeling able to get back to my online life and you wonderful people.
I'm going to be graduating college in May, so it's time for me to do that little thing known as "getting my entire life together and figure out what I'm doing here." My passion is writing and storytelling and making things, and I plan to be able to do that for a living. Of course that's way easier said than done. But while I might not have been uploading much, I've been doing lots of character designs and writing and following my passions.
In terms of my own art, expect a lot of new adopts covering a wide range of topics and themes (and of course I always love suggestions). In terms of commissioned art, I have a ton in my backlog that I would love to finally share with you guys. I've got some absolutely stunning pieces from fantastic artists that I can't wait to upload. Most of the characters correlate to the big writing projects I've got going, and hopefully I can share some of that as well!

Where I've been, and What's Going On

I'll start by saying I'm sorry for the lack of activity for the past few months. Every time I think I'm going to have the energy to get back into posting, something happens and I lose that motivation. And it's been a very chaotic last few months.
What's been happening lately
This spring semester was really bad for me. I started on some meds for my anxiety and depression, and dropped three of my classes in the hopes of being better able to take care of my mental health. This worked to some extent (not too well though), but the unfortunate side effect was that I fell out of qualification for my scholarships. Initially I had submitted an appeal to get them back, but this would have resulted in a probationary semester in which I wouldn't have the money anyway, so I opted for taking summer classes instead.
I really didn't want to take summer classes, because I wanted to have the summer to relax and focus on my mental health. Unfortunately my family has made my summer anything but healthy for my mental wellbeing, so at the moment I'm stuck between two very difficult situations that have left me drained with very little free time or energy.
Why I haven't been drawing
One of the aforementioned things that happened during the spring semester was that I dropped three of my classes. For those who don't know, I was majoring in 3D Animation and Visual Effects. The classes that I dropped were in this major. "Was" and "were being the operative words here.
I'm not a good artist. I'll be the first to admit this. In fact, that was why I initially tried to get into the animation program at my university: I was under the impression that the classes would teach me how to draw and how to become a better artist. What actually happened was that I was surrounded in every class by people who had been drawing for their entire lives; these people were great artists, the kind of people who will absolutely go on to do awesome things. And the classes were built with them in mind. Every assignment presumed a comprehensive knowledge and skill in drawing.
At the end of the day that wasn't the kind of person I am. I don't have that impassioned drive and dedication. I was in the program because I wanted to be there, not because I needed to. I was feeling like shit with every assignment I turned in, where my peers were submitting absolutely amazing things. I talked to head of the program, and she told me that she "had no idea why you would major in animation if you didn't know how to draw," which was the last nail in the coffin for me.
On top of this, the classes that I dropped out of can't be repeated for credit hours. This, in effect, means that I can't complete the program. So at some point in the near future I'll be changing my major, though I don't yet know to what.
In conclusion tl;dr
My year thus far has been incredibly rough. Though I've been working on personal characters, I haven't had the time, energy, or self-confidence to post adopts as regularly as I used to. I miss it a lot, because I love showing you guys the designs I create and letting them go to new homes, as well as sharing commissions I get of my own characters.
I'm going to make an effort to at least post the commissions I get, because I have a lot that I really want you guys to see. If I have the energy, I'm going to try and work more on adopts. However it may be a while until I'm back to posting adopts at the frequency that I used to.

Expect an increase in activity soon, too! I've got some commissions in the works, some more adopts, along with some characters of my own that I haven't uploaded here yet. I just moved to my new apartment, so I'm hoping that once things settle I'll have more time to devote to my projects!

I completely disappeared for the last few weeks as school got incredibly stressful. I didn't intend to stop posting, but between not having the money for commissions and not having the time to draw, I just didn't have anything to post.
I'm done with my first year of college, though, and looking forward to spending the Summer drawing and being more active here! I've got an adopt going up right after I post this, and hopefully some more soon after!
Also, huge thanks on 300 watchers! I'd love to do a raffle of some sort to celebrate. It'll probably be an adopt of some sort, but what would you like to see? Would you rather I make an adopt and raffle that, or raffle a slot for a custom. Let me know what you think!

Back From Holiday Break
Posted 6 years agoI'll start this off with another weird apology for my sporadic presence here over the last few weeks. I was really anticipating to be more productive over the holidays, but it just didn't happen.
I'm back from break now, though, so I'm anticipating to get back into the swing of things pretty quick here. Lots of new adopts and personal characters and art. It'll be fun! :)
Also, I'm planning to do a raffle once I hit 300 watchers. It'll probably be an adopt, so keep your eyes open for that coming up :)

I've got a bunch of art that I haven't uploaded yet that I'm going to pushing out over the next couple days, including Kida's art, some reference sheets for characters that you guys haven't seen yet, and some other fun stuff. A bunch of it's NSFW, so heads up for that, but I'm really excited to finally share it all with you guys! If I can get some details finalized, I'm also hoping to upload some information pages about various aspects of the stories I'm plotting, in case that's something you guys might like to see.

I've got some new adopts in the works, though, that I'm hoping to have up in the next few days, and then I want to get a bunch of Kida's art uploaded, as well as the reference sheets for some other characters, so stay tuned! :)

Back from unintentional hiatus!

I moved from New Mexico to Virginia! In my endless hubris, I assumed that I wouldn't be gone for any longer than a week as I got a new laptop and restored internet! That, as can be evidently seen, was not the case. I was able to check up and comment occasionally through my phone, but using FA on mobile doesn't work for much more than just favoriting things.
That being said, I'm back now, and I've got new adopts coming your way! In addition to that, customs are open! I could use some extra money, so any business would be majorly appreciated! Tell your friends, watch, favorite, slap that notification icon!

I don't usually upload anything beyond mature on this account, so I wanted to ask if anyone had any thoughts on me uploading it. Should I do it here, or maybe make an alt account?

Posted 7 years agoI haven't been able to work much on my own art lately due to my schedule, but I've been having a blast doing adopts as the character design and coloring practice is really good for me! So I've decided to open on-base custom adopts for commission!
All customs will be on bases (until aforementioned art skills improve). For any base, the price for a custom adopt or ref of your character will vary from $15-$20, depending on complexity. I can create adopts from a color palette or theme, work entirely with creative liberty, or make a ref sheet of your character from either a written description or previous reference.

First idea: I would combine adopt reference sheets with colored versions of free or paid bases that I have, so the character you buy would already come with a few pieces of art.
Second idea: I'm a writer, so I'm curious if anyone would be interested in buying characters who already have a partial character profile written out (likely not a full profile, but just simple things like some backstory or likes/dislikes).
