Update: Where the Hell have I been?
Posted 2 years agoHey everyone, Nelg here. I was initially going to save this until I got the next chapter of the Odyssey out. Still, more than a few of you kind people have been worried about me, so even though the next chapter isn't ready, I may as well give an explanation for everything.
Q: Is the Odyssey dead?
A: Hell no! I am proud of this story, and I only have THREE chapters to go before it's finished.
Q: Where have you been?
A: To make a long story short, I have been diagnosed with ADHD. Nothing too scary; however, looking into it, I have noticed that people with ADHD have short attention spans that cause them to lose interest in things, and they find it difficult to go back to them. AND THAT'S WHERE I AM. No matter how hard I try, I can't bring myself to write. Hell, I have a story over on Fanfiction.net based on Planet 51 that I haven't updated in over a decade, and people are still begging me to finish it to this day. But I refuse to give up The Odyssey after going this far with it! I'm proud of the story I created, the world, and its characters. I've worked too long and hard on it to let it die, and I won't!
Q: So what happens now?
A: I haven't exactly been idle. A trick my uncle taught me is to work on anything. In other words, keep your brain active. I have been working on polishing up the original version of The Odyssey. For those of you who have read my other story, "The Other Side of the Dawn," I revealed there was another version of The Odyssey. The universe of that story is the setting for 'The Other Side of the Dawn.' While I loathed doing sequels, people have suggested other stories set in that universe, and I thought, why not polish it up and put it out.
Q: Didn't you say the same about "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo?"
A: Yes, I did; however, the ending is holding that back. It's a massive info dump, and I HATE those. As I set about polishing that story up, I realised WHY I abandoned it in the first place. The Odyssey Version 0 – as I'm calling it – isn't.
Q: So, what is your next move?
A: I have over half the original version of The Odyssey, so I wanted to ask everyone if they would like me to post a sample for everyone to read. Just to tide people over while I get back into writing Chapter 18 of the True Odyssey. The one everyone loves.
Let me know if you want me to post a sample of The Original Odyssey so you can decide if you want to see the full thing. It's mostly an Anthro Story, but there are Macro elements in there. It's just not the entire focus.

Journal Episode 3: A New Hope
Posted 4 years agoHey everyone, Nelg here. Chapter 14 of the Odyssey is nearly done, but I have something to tell you all before I do.
As the title of this journal suggests, I do have some good news for you. Do you all remember when I told you that I lost my stories when my computer died? Well, it turns out that I did make a back-up. I did save all my stories to an external hard drive. So that means I still have my old copy of the original Odyssey story, "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo," but most importantly...
EVERYTHING CONNECTED WITH THE FUTURE OF, "IT'S A DOG'S LIFE."
That includes my world bible and all four stories that I had been working on. All of them are still alive.
Now that I don't have to start over with this, here's what my plans for the future are; I'm going to concentrate on finishing up "The Odyssey." Once that's done and dusted, I'm then going to knuckle down and finish up, "Tales of Kthura." (That's the working title I have going for the anthology series; Kathura is the name of the Dog's planet.) For those of you who aren't aware, the layout of the book is going to be an anthology series, containing five stories. Here's a sneak-peak at what to expect.
1 - "Secret of the Spine": Will be a prologue, told from the POV of Prince Jedak Mordor and Dog Kinds first contact with humanity.
2 - "It's a Dog's Life": This will be an edited version of the story.
3 - "By the Shores of the crescent Moon":This is the one story that's taking it's time. It's going to be a story about Baron Tarkas Mordho and Gavin's Twin Sisters.
4 - "The Westwater Affair": This is a detective story told from the POV of a Dog Soldier in Military Intelligence as he investigates the mysterious disaperence of the human Gavin from the Sanctuary. (Yes, this IS a sequel to 'It's a Dog's Life.')
5 - "Second Contact": ???????

A Second Status Update
Posted 4 years agoHey everyone, Nelg here.
This is just letting everyone know why I haven't updated in a while. You see, towards the end of January, my laptop died. All my stories were on the hard drive, and after jumping through endless hoops with nothing by delays and excuses...
...I lost everything—all of it, gone. So, I had to start all over again from scratch.
But not before going through a journey to get a new laptop. Boy, was THAT a comedy of errors, and explaining what happened would take another journal entry all of its own. So, long story short, I finally got a new laptop. It's a Google Notebook, which doesn't have windows. So even as I type this, I'm still trying to wrap my head around using it. I've had to transfer most of my programs over to my gaming computer - which is on its last legs - and pray to God it holds while I wait for my new computer to arrive. (I'm building a computer, so everything is coming in parts. Since the pandemic, computer parts are in high demand down under, so I have to wait for everything to arrive.) So please, bear with me while I work things out.
However—despite starting all over again, Act 12 of the Odyssey is progressing. I don't know when it will be out, but I'm about halfway through.
Thank-you for your patience.

Status Update
Posted 4 years agoHey everyone, Nelg here.
I'm writing this journal, more or less to update everyone on what's been going on with my life, considering that it has been Five Months since I last posted something; Christ, that's almost half a year. Anyway, back on topic, I believe I suffered a bit of burn-out because I found myself unable to write anything; But not any more. I've at last gotten back into writing. As my uncle once taught me, the best practice to get into the habit of writing, is to do a page a day. Now, that's what I'm doing at the moment. Slowly, but indeed, Act XI of the Odyssey is at last moving.
Now, the reason behind this journal. I've gone back and made a few, small edits in the story. Starting from Act: VIII, in which I've finally decided to reveal the Sciuridae Healer's name; Tac. And Act: X, where I show the name of the Prime Alpha; Hark. I wanted to let you guys know this, in case you open up Act: XI and find yourselves thinking, "Now who the bloody hell are these guys?"
Another thing is that while looking through my old stuff, I found an old story of mine that I promised to work on, back on Macrophile.com, called "The Dragon with the Girl Tattoo." I was about halfway through it when I lost interest and forgot about it. It had nothing to do with that God-Awful book by Adam Roberts. My version is an attempt at a murder mystery set in a world of Dragon's where humans are mythical creatures. It was my attempt at doing a crime noir story with a Dragon twist.
So, I was curious if there was any interest for me to finish it, polish it up, and publish it here? It would mean a delay in the Odyssey, though. I just wanted to throw that out there. Let me know what you guys think?
