RF 2012 Con Report
General | Posted 13 years agoThere is a cure for the Summertime Blues:
Drink this posy,
don these tanooki jammies
and exalt 'til your knees break
swallow a grip of tadpoles
and drown your lover's reflection
This is how we do it.
Except it's not so much cure as inoculation:
bundle your bunnies,
keep them close;
this hair conditioner wards off fennecs
like huskies from a hang glider
swirl this peanut butter around
in yr ivory-coated sine waves a lil while, Broseph,
there ya go...
put on this pinafore and pirouette into a dapper-diaper dandy-lion :
slip into new skin,
black armor under
tawny
and prance
in the final analysis,
it's not so much inoculation as emasculation:
the emascular dystrophy
of a sweet & craven ingenue-cum-puppy.

I Need Your Help
General | Posted 13 years agoIn March, I submitted 3 poems to Write Bloody Publishing's 2012 book contest.
Write Bloody is a small but growing indie publisher that's been putting out high quality poetry books for the past 3 years, I think, mostly by poets for whose work I have a lot of respect and fondness. They are not super well known yet, but their profile is growing. Also, they are not in any respect furry.
On April 9th, I was informed I was one of 20 finalist, 4-8 of whom will be getting books published.
The final submission is a 40 poem manuscript (done) and a video performing a poem. 20% of the final selection is based on how many upvotes the submission video gets. My submission is a performance of "The Puppy Who Would Be Pope" accompanied on guitar by Fiddleback Fox and recorded and edited by Wyvern Aldinger:
http://youtu.be/CWX-NpsYRMY
It is an all furry production, and the book, if published, will have a lot of furry content.
If you are so inclined, please take a look, and if you enjoy it, upvote, and if you really want to help me out, repost it elsewhere, or as many elsewheres as you please.
Thanks for your help.

FC MEME
General | Posted 14 years ago1.) Are you going to be at FC?
FC will be at me.
2.) Is it going to be awesome?
The ocean swells like a slow toast machine to swallow the shallow shadow of crippled memory.
3.) Where you gonna stay?
The turtle has the courage-mistaken-for-cowardice of an animal that carries its home on its back.
4.) Who you gonna roll with?
The star-minded mastodons and the children of sea-funk; the blaze-eyed walrus bashers, and the fast cash sequin dancers with the razorish glib-taught thumb-bellies.
5.) How does an enterprising person find you at this con?
Wrap yourself inside yourself and you might catch a glimpse of my tailfeathers coruscating in the rush of your bawdiest headlamps.
6.) You wanna get dinner?
I want to slicify into the marrow of complacent time and masticate its juicy juicy.
7.) You wanna get drunk?
"If you would not feel the horrible burden of Time weigh you down and crush you to the Earth,
Be drunken, continually.
Drunken with what?
With wine, with poetry, or with virtue as you please." -cb
8.) You gonna take commissions?
I will take them to Vulcan's forge, and heft them into the caldera, weeping.
9.) You gonna take trades?
SHARKYSHARKYSHARKYSHARKYSHARKY
10.) What is your idea of a good time at a convention?
4:20.

General | Posted 14 years agoFiddleback and I are performing a set of music and poetry, alongside visual art based on several of the pieces, on Thursday, January 12th at 8pm (doors open at 7:30pm, $10 cover) at The Lost Church at 65 Capp Street in San Francisco. Much of the set'll have furry content.
If you are coming to FC and don't mind leaving the con for a few hours, you should come check it out!

General | Posted 14 years agoIn his youth, Hercules was given a choice between a life of comfort and obscurity and a life of hardship and a chance for glory. He chose hardship and glory.
We all face this choice in one way or another many times over the course of our lives.
Which would you choose?
Which do you choose?

from Pausanias, as transcribed by Robert Graves
General | Posted 14 years ago"Cephalus retired to Thebes, where King Amphitryon, the supposed father of Heracles, borrowed Laelaps [the hound] to hunt the Teumessian vixen which was ravaging Cadmeia. This vixen, divinely fated never to be caught, could only be appeased by the monthly sacrifice of a child. But, since Laelaps was divinely fated to catch whatever he pursued, doubt arose in Heaven as to how this contradiction should be resolved: in the end, Zeus angrily settled it by turning both Laelaps and the vixen into stone."

General | Posted 14 years agoAll my extant poetry is now archived here.
I haven't written anything since New Year's Eve. It used to be that when I would go a few months without writing, I'd start having dreams about writing... but not anymore. It's possible that that part of my life is done.

Miscellany
General | Posted 14 years agoHave finished archiving Tweetbook. There was a 9th chapbook, "Poems for Dogleaf", but I accidentally failed to retain any copies of it, so I'm no longer 100% sure what was included in it. To finish the archive, I'm gonna start posting everything that isn't in the previous 8 chapbooks, including the stuff in Poems for Dogleaf, older pieces that I never fit into a chapbook and newer pieces (though the last new piece I've written was 12/31/2010).
Tweetbook
General | Posted 14 years agoHave finished archiving "The Secret Medicine", now archiving my 8th chapbook "Tweetbook", released 4/25/2010.
Formal Statement of Presence
General | Posted 14 years agoAfter several years uncertain about the nature and extent of my interest in involvement with this site, I've gone ahead and watched all the people that I know that I could find. If you would prefer I not, please let me know and I will unwatch you, and you are welcome to watch back or not as you please. I'm currently in the process of archiving all my old poetry here, and this will continue for some time.

General | Posted 14 years agoHave finished posting everything from "The Last Temptation of Cactus"--will soon begin archiving the contents of my fourth chapbook, "Juvenilia", released August 6th, 2003. Confession: I only used the title "Juvenilia" so I had an excuse to put a photo of me performing in a diaper on the cover.
The Last Temptation of Cactus
General | Posted 14 years agoHave finished posting everything from "The Profane Document" (except for two pieces I hated too much to ever allow to see the light of day again)--will soon begin archiving the contents of my third chapbook, "The Last Temptation of Cactus", released in 2002.
