Darn, gotta update the ref now
Posted 9 years agoWell, after 6 years, I've finally had to cut my hair. I have a new short term job, and one of their appearance standards says hair can not touch the collar, so off it comes.
Shame that every hairstyle I looked up looks stupid as hell, not to mention not allowed. So, I finally just said give it a long windblown look, and got rid of it.
I donated 26 inches to Pantenes Beautiful Lengths, because Locks of Love is for profit and sells the wigs, whereas Beautiful Lengths actually donated the whole wig to those who need it.
God, my head feels weird.

It's a big scary world out there
Posted 11 years agoAnd I'm going in.
I am now a graduate with a BS in audio production, and a minor in computer science. Now on to the really scary part, finding a job.
Ideally I would like to work on sound for videogames, but I know that won't happen for a while. I have a pretty good amount of experience doing post-production work on things like advertisements, TV shows, ADR, and sound design. I also got to work on some on location live TV broadcasts as A1, for things like awards shows, baseball games, and small rock concerts.
I'm sending out resumes to my local TV stations, but I might as well ask in the non-obvious places too.
So, anyone know someone I can apply with, or need an audio engineer themselves?

Summer internship
Posted 12 years agoSo, got a job at a local theater as an intern, running the back of house soundboard for the summer. Along with running the fly rail, working in the prop shop, and the standard intern crap jobs, but the focus is going go be the board.
I've worked with them before, as a volunteer actor onstage for about eleven years, so they know me and what I can do, but this is the first time I have done a technical job for them and I'm a little nervous.
Here's to having a good run, and not burning the place down.

Less than honorable
Posted 13 years agoSo, I should be studying for my multiple tests occurring this week. But I'm not, as I have been helping people with their severe iron deficiency with a gusto.
I's been shankin' foos in Dishonored.
I always seem to forget exactly how much fun this style of gameplay is, as my normal fare is first person shooters and some real time strategy styles. Then along comes Batman, or Deus Ex HR, or Dishonored, and I'm reminded how much fun it is to be a glass cannon. Sure, you can't really take a huge amount of a beating, but picking them off one by one from the shadows is a huge force multiplier, and too much fun to boot.
The mechanics are excellent, and very open ended. Do you run in guns blazing, or go for the more quiet rout, and hide the bodies as you go? Do you help others around the city, or forget about them and focus on your job? Hack or steal? Show mercy, or be savage? Choices like that can make or break a game, and they make Dishonored into a fine game indeed.
Next week, I forsake school for some Borderlands 2. Watch as my GPA plummets.

Bit of a dry spell
Posted 14 years agoI can't seem to find anything that I would enjoy doing a reading for, and it's starting to annoy me.
I love doing some voice acting, but can't find any scripts! It's like an itch I can't scratch. No stories, no game scripts, no movie scripts, no work, NOTHING!
Someone throw me a bone, I'm dying here.
