On vacation a few days, not online much
General | Posted 5 years agoJust to let you know that from tomorrow on for the next 5 days I will be away from home, so I won't online as much, though you can stil contact me via telegram and all, just slower responses.
And I am 31 years old today.
General | Posted 5 years agoYeah, this dragon is now 31 years of age, so stil a many years ahead of me.
Now, where is my cake?
Now, where is my cake?
Didn't get the job, also soon gonna be 31 years of age.
General | Posted 5 years agoYeah, the job at the university library I applied for about two weeks ago?
I did not get it, but aparently it was a close call. My mom knows people in so many places, and she even knows some at the university here. And it seems I was so damn close, was in second place of being picked for the job. The woman that was picked in the end was better trained, having done a university training course as a librarian, so she was better trained than me.
Oh well, have to keep looking.
Also, gonna be 31 at the 30th of this month. Dunno really how to feel about it yet. huffs

How Pizza became an Italian icon dish
General | Posted 5 years agoWe all know and love this special Italian dish.
Pizza.
Known to pretty much everybody in the world. But did you know that before it became an Italian dish, it was allready an international dish? How can that be? Let me explain.
First things first. Pizza Margherita, which supposedly was named after the first Queen of a united Italy, Margherita of Savoy, was not named after here, this is just a myth. She lived from 1851 - 1926, yet Pizza had been served in the area of Naples allready around 1790, maybe even earlier.
But, it was a food that not even peasants would eat. It was the food for the poorest of the poor. A handfull of dough, a spoon full of mashed tomatoes, a tiny slice of mozzarella cheese and a few drops of olive oil, baked in a small oven of a street vendor in the narrow streets of the city of Naples, that is how it started. You could get such a proto-pizza for as little as one Lira, yet even that was too much for some, so people then would have to pay a week after they had bought one slice of this.
One had to know, Naples then was the poorest region in all of Italy. No industry, barely farming, nothing. Half of the populace of the city lived on the streets, the sewers, where ever there was place. So soon tens - and hundreds of thousands of people from Naples fled the country, emmigrating any place a ship could get them, most of them choosing to go to the United States of America, all that happening in the mid 19th century.
Settling there, many of these first generation immigrants of course would stay among themselves, cooking and behaving like their ancestors did. A many would open the first Pizzerias in New York City and Chicago, yet English speaking Americans would frown upon that food. Samuel Morse, inventor of the morse code, would describe it as a piece of goop, vomited out from the sewers. Yet these Italian communities would not be deterred and kept their traditional food.
Then World War II came along. Italy was then overrun from the South by Allied troops, most of them Americans. And incidently, maybe even coincidently, many of these soldiers were of Italian ancestry, some even had living relatives in that region. So when the area was temporarily occupied by US troops, the Italian descendant US soldiers would of course eat Pizza, bringing their fellow US soldiers along to the streets vendors in the streets of Naples. So now for the first time a large group of English speaking Americans would know what Pizza is and how good it tastes.
Coming back to the US in the Post-War period Pizzerias in the Little Italys in all the larger cities would son be more often visited by everyday Americans. Then came the widespread use of television and modern house-hold appliances to truly every American household, like microwaves, electrical ovens and more. Now Pizza started to become a staple dish in the American diet, most noteably, frozen pizza that the happy housewife only had to put into the oven and the average US family of four could enjoy their Pizza in front of the TV, as marketed back then. Allready in the mid 50s, some people warned that this 'nasty' European food would replace the Hot Dog as the most iconic American food.
Yet still at that time, Pizza was pretty much unheard of in most of Italy except the region around Naples.
Now we come in the the 1960s, where again, tens of thousands of Italians from the poor South migrated, this time to Germany. Back then, during the economic miracle years, Germany pretty much had a negative unemployment rate, they needed workers and they needed them fast. So they hired people from Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey and yes, also Italy. They should only stay for a few years and then return home after their contract ran out. But alongside these Italians also came some that saw an opportunity to open up restaurants for their fellow Italian workers. So the first Pizzerias in Germany would open at that time.
And back over the Atlantic again came the Italian descentdant soldiers, this time stationed in Germany, who would also visit these new Pizzerias, intriguing the local German people. Seeing the US as something to admire and strive after, they followed the US soldiers to these restaurants. So many Germans had their first taste of Italian cuisine in these Pizzerias.
Then tourism in Europe started to really take off, most importantly in Germany. Now for the first time ever a large portion of Germans could afford to take a longer vacation and they wanted to go South. Spain, Greece, and of course, Italy. They came to Italy , wanting to experience the country in all its colours and flavours. So they would often order Pizza, since that was the Italian food they knew. Which was a big smack to the face of restaurant owners in places like for example, Milan. A place famous for its Risotto. And now these Germans came over the Alps to visit their country and were ordering a poor-people's food? How dare they!
Yet, to keep their well paying customers from Germany happy, many restaurants started to adapt and offer Pizza alongside their regional traditional dishes. And only now, in the late 1960s and early 1970s would Pizza become a dish that was known all throughout Italy.
So yes, that is the story of the Pizza. It took two trips over the Atlantic and one trip over the European Alps before every Italian knew what a Pizza was.

Had another job interview today
General | Posted 5 years agoJust saying hat out here, had another job interview today at the university here, would be a position at the magazine section in the library, which would also act as a big archive for pretty much all magazines published in my home state here. Not really much to tell here, typical quetsions like 'What made you decide to apply for this position?' and such things.
The only noteable thing though was that I only noticed halfway down to the city, riding the bus, that there was a cut in my jeans on my left knee. So quite hastily as soon as I was in town, I got into the nearest cheap-ass clothing store, a Primark, looked around for like two minutes for some jeans that should fit me, bought it, swapped into it on the shopping mall toilet and went off to the job interview. Funnily enough, that new pair of jeans fits me now better than most of the jeans I bought before with careful searching.

RIP Argentfang

I dunno why this hits me so hard, but aparently a month ago -the furry known as
argentfang passed away after a complication with an aneurysm. I never met him, talked to him or anything, yet seeing the words about his passing has hit me really hard in some ways that I cannot describe. I mean, I know next to nothing about him aside the art he posted, and yet I just feel...sad. Maybe because he was so comparably young, just aged 45. He would have had to many years ahead of him doing things......maybe that is why, it makes me more aware of my own mortality...fuck, why does it always need such severe events to be reminded of such things.....

General | Posted 5 years agoOuch, ow ow ow.
I dunno what I did, but I know what I did wrongly. Too little moving, too much sitting, too little training for my back. And now I pay the price, by having such severe back-pain all of a sudden that I can barely even sit, and lieing on a bed only works in certain positions.
Just took a really hot shower to aleviate the pain some, which worked, also swallowed some pain-killer. But I think I'm gonna head over to the doctor's office.
Fuck. As soon as that pain is gone again, I need to start a training exersice, regularly, to train these muscles, stretch them and make me more flexible. Or by the age of 50 I might end up fully bedridden.
**whinces and crawls away**
Update: Aparently the problem with me is the Sciatic nerve / ischiadic nerve. To aleviate my pain, I got a 10 minute microwave therapy to warm up the muscles and relax them some, gonna repeat that tomorrow. Also got a prescription for ibuprofen and a analgetic salve. Gonna try to get them today asap.

General | Posted 5 years agoNothing to see here, just a big dragon pissed at himself to not get the actual stuff done he was supposed to do, or rather, what he wanted to achieve.
How long have I been delaying stuff now, barely able to follow my own set goals or even checkpoint goals, like writing on my stories, on translations and all... I dunno why I am like that, unfortunately I often feel like the time where I would most likely be the most productive is while I am at work or other times where I don't have time to write, there I have ideas and feeling a passion growing inside me, that I just don't feel when I am at home, where I then only sit in front of my PC, watch youtube, browse FA for hours and just am passive....
Dunno why or what to do against it....

I know, probably not what you'd expect, but I recall watching it for quite some time. The other big anime series I watched back then was...well...yeah, Sailor Moon. Was a biiiig fan of it.

Yeah, I really was a big fan of it, man, I could remember trying to not miss any episodes of that series. ^^'

Take a few days off of messengers by 90% for some time!
General | Posted 5 years agoSo yeah, I just noticed how much time in the past...wow, 3 weeks?... I spent online during this quarantine yet, and while I managed to do some stuff, and gotten things done, I think I could have managed to do more. And I just also got notice that in a week our shop will be open again. No info to what extend yet, but anyhow, in a week or so, I will have to work again.
So, to get a few more things done in that coming week, and beyond, I want to minimize my time on messengers during that time-frame. So during the day from like 10:00 - 20:00 central European time, I will only be marginally be found on Telegram or Discord. Just wanted to let you know, so nobody has to worry about me.

Yeah, that aparently is totally real. I wonder who bought these pics back then in 1993.
In case that video is blocked in your country (aparently in France it is blocked) , to lighten the mood at the end of his Corona-Virus video, John Oliver showed a video of an US art-auction from 1993, showing a number of water-colour pictures of two anthro rats in very very very intimate positions, without acutally doing the deed or being naughty. And now John Oliver ofered 1000$ for one of these pictures, where the rats kiss, plus an additional 20 000$ for a local foodbank wherever the original buyer is living currently. So, if maybe one of you furries here is the owner of that picture, now is your chance to sell it to John Oliver.
And to see the other pictures you cannot see in the John Oliver video, here is the video of the auction from 1993.

Just sad when artists delete their accounts
General | Posted 6 years agoJust rambling here a bit.
Found recalled that a while ago that
jivewriter deleted their account here on FA. He was pretty much one of the earliest artists on FA that I watched. Just sad to see such a cool artist go. I recall he went to the military for a longer while where he was not actively for years on FA, then became briefly active again, only to then delete it all and just went his way. This allways makes me think what makes people go that way, abandoning entirely what they have created.

General | Posted 6 years agoI am now a certified librarian!
General | Posted 6 years agoWell, kinda. It is not a certificate for a full-on librarian. But a part-time / semi-professional one. That kind of position is mostly given to people working in a townhall or the likes, and one of them would work for a few hours in the village library, if the town don't want to pay a full-time librarian.
But yeah, enough rambling. After about 3 years of work into this, including a year-long and stil going on project to improve the situation of my village library, last week I finished my training course and got my certificate and all.
So this pulled off a huge weight off my mind and shoulders, finally not having to think about that so often.
**adjusts my glasses** So yeah, time to find a job in a library would be the best now for me.

Happy new year to you all **hugs you all out there**
General | Posted 6 years agoWaited a bit with this journal, stil will likely get drowned in the flood of journals.
May this year be a great one to you all, I for all intends and purposes will try my best to finally turn around a few things in my life and make more use of my time.
Also, why I didn't wish you a great new decade, that is because the new decade starts only in 2021. Like number 12 is part of the old dozen, 13 is the number one of the new dozen, thus 2021 is the real first year of the new decade.
So, have a great last year of this decade, fuzzies and scalies all around the world.
*waves at all of you*

Less commissions and stuff in the future
General | Posted 6 years agoJust announcing here for all people that were looking forward to get a commission with me together. In the future, I will have to save up a lot more of my monthly salary for the reason I have to gather more cash to get better conditions (possibly) for a loan, because me and family are looking into remodelling the house. Not going into detail here, but it will be quite a bit thing, so I will need to have to save up as much cash as I can as a security, payment for the architect, etc etc etc.
I will still be able to buy stuff here and there, just not as much as I have thrown around as of lately.
Sorry about anybody who was looking into buying something with me immediately. Will now take a bit longer.

General | Posted 6 years agoJust letting you know that I didn't get the library job I applied for and had 2 job interviews for.
So yeah, back to the start and looking for a new job.
Also, that damn report for the librarian training I am taking is taking a toll on my mind. Have to finish it, print it and bind it within a week now.
So yeah. Stress all over.

General | Posted 6 years agoYeah, they called me back 2 days ago, the job at the library where I already had a job interview.
It seems I came into the inner circle of possible candidates, and in pretty much 30 minutes I will have an interview with the library's director and somebody from their HR department.
Will let you know how it went in a bit, folks.
