Any Metal-style Furry Artists?
Posted 2 years agoIm looking to perhaps get something for Halloween and I had the idea of putting my character, Eke, into a metal-inspired scene, or just some kind of waist-up of him sort of in this style. Skulls and bones, fire, and basically just an all-out hellish transformation. I will provide some images below to sorta show what I mean.

BLFC Meetups!

I will be there for the entire duration of the con and then some, so I will have plenty of time to socialize a little. Monster/Beast Artist Recommendations
Posted 2 years agoAre anybody aware of any artists out there that do commissions and are great at doing monsters/beasts/abominations and such? I am looking for people in particular that like Lovecraftian-style monsters, body horror, etc. It doesn't have to be any particular style of art, just as long as it isn't cartoony. I want someone that can draw some visceral stuff!
The Extent of Artistic Freedom

1. This isn't directed towards anyone in particular, just something I've seen recently that has been rubbing me the wrong way in terms of commission culture within this community.
2. I hold no entitlement over how much an artist values their art and wishes for it to sell for. Your price is your decision and if you get people paying that price, then an honest good for you.
For those of you who don't know, which I imagine there are few, artistic freedom commissions are art pieces where the commissioner gets little to no say in the end outcome of the image being made besides what character is being used. Recently, I have encountered a few of these styles of commissions that I feel like are going too far with this model. I will not say who it was, but I saw a post recently describing that the artist would create an artistic freedom art piece for a flat $100 that could end up being anything from a simple sketch to a lined and flat colored piece. So, what is wrong with this model? The fact that the customer who is considering buying this commission is more or less gambling a pretty significant amount of money hoping to get something better than a sketch. I don't know about other people, but this feels pretty predatory to your customer base? "Pay a hundred bucks and HOPE that you get something worth your money from me," really, really doesn't make you look good to your customers, and I'm hoping this isn't becoming a "thing" that people are doing. I would ask anyone that's doing this to please, at least make it so that your customer is getting one or the other and doesn't have to think their money is being gambled on whether or not you feel like reciprocating that payment with something that normally wouldn't cost nearly as much. It really does sound like a scam, and that's what makes me uneasy.
Again, I will reiterate, if it works for you, it works. I can't argue if you're getting the results that you want, but PLEASE also consider the morality of it.

So, assuming weather doesn't kill my flight over to the Chicago area, I will be on my way to MFF this year! It will be my first con and I'll be around for a couple days checking it out, among other things. If you are a mutual interested in meeting me, go ahead and send me a note, or a discord message if you happen to have it. If you are gonna be on the fly, you should be able to see a person walking around with a head looking very similar to Eke! If you see me, feel free to introduce yourself and say hello! And if you will be in the dealer's den and would like me to check out your wares, I will definitely be looking around at all the knick-knacks you people are making, so just let me know where you are and I will be happy to visit,
As for another bit of news, FA got it's new UI update and honestly I'm pretty down with it. I see nothing in particular that looks wrong, and honestly have been cringing a bit at some of the complaints people have. Literally the tiniest gripes that you could just get used to within a week, but oh well. Guess people don't like even the littlest of changes.
PS: I also wanted to say that I have in fact gotten VERY behind on posting art recently and have a lot of stuff to show around once I get the motivation to do so. Plenty of smut to be seen in the coming week so I hope people are looking forward to that.
Anyways, I hope y'all had a good Thanksgiving for those who celebrate it and hopefully have a great Christmas in the near future, again for people who celebrate! Thanks for reading!

MFF Plans
Posted 3 years agoSo I had planned to go to MFF with two other people. One ended up not being able to afford it and the other might just not get the time off work to go in the first place. SO, I could really use some help trying to get there in a way that I'm not spending an absolute fortune; by splitting a room with one or a couple people. This would be my first con, and I have a lot of people I would like to meet/see. Heart Goes Out to Ukraine and Supporters
Posted 3 years agoWith a heavy heart from the news of invasion, I support Ukraine's calls for sovereignty amidst Russia's call to war. I hope that all the Ukrainians out there stay safe and stay hopeful that your home will, at some point, prevail. I also extend my support to all the Russians protesting the war either in person or online. This is not the way of our modern world, and I hope it gets resolved in a peaceful manner one way or another.

Keeping Better Track of Commissions
Posted 4 years agoI am now using a widget to keep track of people I have commissioned and those I am waiting for. Sometimes I will often forget that I even get certain commissions or YCH's until they're delivered to me.
That said, there will now be a list which I will be updating frequently to show who I am waiting on art from!
