cribz
Posted 14 years agoso... somewhere back in the start of 2001, I switched studio apartments in my building from a center unit to one up front that featured big bay windows, and very high ceilings. To make the most efficient use of this new found vertical space, I decided to build a loft bed.
So, I whip up a basic idea of a plan, and head off to Home Depot. I scrapped my rough plan when I got there and discovered they had a kit with plans, steel brackets and all the hardware for pretty cheap.
So, for a few months I am using the loft bed, then find out the same landlord has a huge Victorian house a couple blocks away for rent cheap. I snag the house, and with just myself and a butt-load of square feet to work with, I no longer needed a loft bed. But there was 1 bedroom away from the others, almost hidden away on the other side of the kitchen. Add a lock and people would think it was just a closet, I did just this and with a lil extra lumber, converted my loft bed into a "crib".
Sadly, I never thought about taking pictures of it, during or after the build. But I do have some pics captured from my old webcam, spending many evenings in my crib on cam in yahoo chats and stuff.

It wasn't my finest hour in designing. The side folded down as opposed to sliding to get out, and was weird. After the first week, I just left it up and climbed over the rail to get in and out. That was okies, it gave me the feeling of naughty toddler getting out of bed.
One morning (afternoon?) I am asleep after returning from a huge college party that had went on all night. I am awakened to pounding on my door (ignore it) more pounding on my windows (ignore it, grumble obscenities) then hear somebody outside my bedroom window moving my motorcycle (wide awake now).
I manage to quickly get some sweat pants on over my diaper, pop on shoes and a robe and head outside to see a police cruiser and officer on foot approaching. (oh noes)
The neighbor who was pounding on my windows saw smoke coming from the roof, and called 911. By the time I made it outside, the side wall where the bike was parked, and wall of my nursery, was now up in big flames. The fire trucks pull up, and neighbors gather in the street to look on, as well as a local tv news crew. The firefighters basically tore out a big section of the north wall exposing all. A very kind and considerate female firefighter threw the bags of diapers and plushies inside the crib and covered it with a tarp. The flames spread up to the roof area above, they made a hole and attacked with hoses, then the ceiling in the nursery collapsed. All of these events from the wake-up knocking to now in just a manner of a few minutes. The extent of the damage inside was contained to the nursery and the adjoining bathroom and utility rooms. The living room and recording studio were on the opposite side of the house, so I didn't even make a claim to my renter's insurance. The $500 deductible was more than what I ended up throwing away. It was just an inconvenience, and a major embarrassment.
I was In a neighborhood where I was known by everyone as a *cough* "local entrepreneur". Gossip spreads quickly in scenes, so you have to assume that if a few people know, then everybody knows.
From this point (early 2003), I started wearing all the time instead of just at night, mixing up cub clothes in my everyday apparel. Not running back to take off my diaper and throw on big boy clothes when there was a knock at the door.
Now, besides this change about becoming "more open" of what was before my most deeply guarded secret, I had other issues eating at me. Also from the fire event, many of the firefighters in that city were also police officers it was "public safety department" and they pulled double duty. Well, I had to seriously watch my back, because not only did they see I was a freak. They saw loads of drug paraphernalia and weapons, and I was only briefly questioned/warned about it, but reacted swiftly and got everything off sight. For the next few weeks I was plagued by surprise visits from "city housing inspectors."
Besides this paranoia, I was at an important point in career transition, bored with the current music scene, and hadn't dated for 5 years aside for 3 absurd 1-night stand dealies. I needed to go away and without wait.
I quit my job, cashed out my 401K, found an apartment in a couple of weekend road trips, and moved to Chicago to start over.
My social life started being almost completely AB/DL/BF. In the fall, I hooked up and moved in with my current mate in the burbs'. Kuppy was already planning a move to here in Florida, and that's what we did. (7 years ago Valentines day.)
Down in Florida for a couple years, living in small apartments and sleeping in a boring big boy bed. The need for a nursery was reborn!
I made a plan in CAD and constructed this one to use our queen size bedding, be sturdy, have a sliding rail on one side.
(oh lordy, even more RL insanity)
construction:

A very big piece of furniture:

worth the effort:

Two more cribs (that I am aware of) were made from these same plans/design. One of them I helped build on location for a couple cubs. The other one, an ABDL online saw the plans in one of the many forums where they were posted, and made his own from the base plan and sent me pics.

This had been our bed until a couple weeks ago when a couple sweety cubs came from far away and picked it up.
...and now
Now we have our mattress and boxspring on the floor in the bedroom of our new house, amidst laundry baskets of clothes and plushies and some unpacked boxes.
It's a blank pallet to work with, to create a new and improved dream nursery. So far, the only prep work before moving in, was painting the room a very delicate baby blue.
Next comes the cutting and assembly of this new crib design:
http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5259826/
The sliding and latching system for the rail is vastly improved. Sliding rails will be much lighter, and both sides will slide down. crib is lower to the ground than before, so my mate won't need a step ladder to get in.
* I have received several requests to build and sell cribs, I don't have a space to build these (I have to clear out my nursery and build the thing in-place) and especially the time to do it.
There are a number of different people online that make and sell adult nursery furniture, people with actual carpentry skills that use selected hardwoods, and probably have liability insurance, and look nice.
Mine were built with the idea, that I wanted one for a bed, and can't afford to buy one of the nice ones. The materials used, have proven to be sturdy, and designed to be easy to make with minimal tools.
Comparatively, it's like if Ikea made a big crib.
So if you're in my boat and can't afford to buy one, stay tuned, the plans for the improved one I'm making with accompanying pics and videos will make it so ridiculously easy that anyone can make their own crib.

Moving update and free stuff! (in SRQ FL)
Posted 14 years agoSo...
I spent all weekend working at the old house, trying not to lose hope as the deadline to get out comes closer.
I have always been a bit of a "hoarder", and my mate and I being total slobs and total opposites of the neat and tidy gay stereotype. So every room of the old house was a pile of miscellaneous confusion. I spent both Saturday and Sunday in my "workshop room", where I sorted thru boxes of junk computer parts and electronics and boxes of random mixed stuff that were untouched from previous moves. Before this weekend, you could not step into room, it was piled to the ceiling.
So to keep our new house all awesome and obsessively-compulsively clean, I have been throwing away tons and tons of junk. The closer we are getting to deadline to be out, the better I am about getting rid of stuff.
So, of the stuff that is still usable, I've been able to give away some stuff already. Some computer parts given away, and usable desktop computer already spoken for by local fur that needs it.
But there is more to get rid of. I have a Sun Microsystems UltraSparc server. (have the proprietary keyboard that goes with it) huge thing (can't and won't ship it) blank hot swap drives, no OS on it at present, but will run Solaris or there's quite a few Linux distros that have versions available for the architecture.
A queen size crib, our old one as seen here: http://www.badbabyfur.com/abdl_albu.....des/crib13.jpg it will come apart into sections if somebody cares to move it, or wants lumber. (mattress & boxspring not included)
Otherwise, it's a week away from circular saw and firepit.
Also to give away, have mini fridge, hardwood small dining table, other randomness junk stuffs. these can go with clothes and stuff for Goodwill if nobody wants, but server and crib are too cool to just scrap.

New Year's Resolution meme

2010 Resolution:
"My new years resolution, to do something ...anything, besides just following the same path towards an alkie/druggie grave."
found at the end of: http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1134209/
Did you accomplish this? I guess I really did. ^.^ I did a hell of a lot of productive stuff, and way less of the bad stuff.
3 things you're proud of doing this year:
1) Manly construction work with sledge n' power tools.
2) Performed in many music gigs.
3) Fixed up my credit.
3 things that you regret doing this year:
1) Allowing people to drag me into their drama.
2) Denied myself too much sleep/food.
3) donated efforts to a crooked charity
3 Hardships that you overcame this year:
1) Many vehicle problems.
2) Loss of hopes and dreams...restored!
3) Anger management; I didn't do horrible things when I normally would have sought "revenge".
3 things you're thankful for this year:
1) I have a home
2) Still have a job
3) Peeps that frequently cheer me up on dull days: Ash, Onyx, Drewby, Armi
3 Predictions for the oncoming year:
1) The downfall of FA
2) More mainstream negative publicity of the fandom, leading to protests at fur cons.
3) The economy making rebounds this spring after mergers and aquisitions create some big monopolies in tech and telecom sectors.
5 words to describe how 2010 went for you:
1) Confusing
2) Stressful
3) Tired
4) whimsical
5) victorious
AND FINALLY
What is going to be your Resolution for 2011?
Make a physical "to do" list of all my pending projects, home, art, music, bikes, etc.
Knock said items off the list by focusing on one thing at a time until completion, in an organized and strategic fashion. Avoid getting overwhelmed and quiting. Stay motivated. Stay Motivated! Stay Motivated!!!

Babyfur/Diaperfur Poll
Posted 14 years agoMuira's Christmas Story
Posted 14 years agoSo ...this year with closing on the house, and all the needed repairs, and moving. Christmas was something fairly overlooked in our household.
So, with our bank accounts being tapped from it all, we both were in the mindset that we were going to skip giving each other gifts this year. (Of course that wasn't the case)
Our way expensive Verizon contract expired on Monday, so I got us two of the Samsung Intercept Android phones thru no-contract Virgin Mobile. Full feature, blazing fast, and 1/3 the price...so happy with doing that.
Every year we do whacked out lawn decorating, and wanted to go nuts with the new house, but just didn't have the time. But we did manage to pick up a tree on the way home Monday night. With all tile flooring in the new place we got a live tree, first time either one of us has ever had a real tree. So we get the tree, but we have to visit many many stores to find a place with stands in stock.
Thursday after work I rushed to do a lil Christmas shopping (as I'd not really done any) gah! Mobs of rude, clueless people everywhere, and panicky puppy in anxiety hell.
My mate invited some people over for Christmas eve dinner, as he had to work on Saturday. We clean up the new place Friday morning and decorate as much as we can, and have wonderful meal, getting totally plastered.
I passed out kinda early, Kuppy woke me up at Midnight to do gift exchanging. I got a Certificate to my favorite motorcycle shop, and a couple of new Wii games with a 2nd remote.
Saturday, Christmas Day, I woke up late, and did very little until 3:30 I had to leave for a gig. I go to Kuppy's work with karaoke gear, and we sing Christmas classics from 4-5 before dinner for all the old folks. They most liked the religious slower numbers, "O' Holy Night" and "Silent Night" getting the most of what could be considered a reaction.
After the show I proceed to our old house, fill up the van with a load of stuff to go to the new house.
I get home, unload the van and put stuff away, talk to parents on phone for an hour, then more partying as people that didn't make it the night before stop in and tackle leftovers. One of my biker friends brought a gift of this K2 stuff. I had never tried the fake legal "weed alternative" before, and was kinda shocked at it's effect. Apparently it was only legal thru this weekend in FL, I was told stores can't sell it after the 28th, so him and his buddies stocked up. I was impressed that it actually did something, but not quite enough to go stockpile. He spills a lil bit and one of my cats runs up and rolls around in it. All the time I'm thinking, "dude, did you pay $14 a tiny bag for catnip?"
Sunday, no rest for the wicked. I moved a lot more stuff, including my electric piano, computer desk, and queen matress/boxspring all by myself and all in one load in a lil Astro work van (with a dozen boxes filling the gaps). Most of the nursery is moved, yet the crib frame stayed behind to be scrapped. I am working on a replacement/improved design that looks for like furniture than a big wooden cage or outdoor deck.
belated dramatic reactions
Posted 14 years agoAs I've been away most of this month fixing up a house and cleaning, packing, moving stuff from the old one (still lots to go)
I've missed some key dramatic points that would require a "knee-jerk reaction journal".
OMG cub porn is banned! *runs in circles screaming*
OMG there's been leaks, (and not from my diaper), nobody's safe! *runs into a wall*
Additionally, for the emo and suicidal journals I've missed during this time:
"don't do it, life is precious, your young, it only gets better, get away from the situation, refuse to be a victim, etc"

The end is near!!!

...the end of our horrible stressful government foreclosure house buying ordeal that has lingered on since August.
Finally the crap gets the "super duper top-level mega approval" and a Friday closing! I won't even begin to try to understand the banking industry.
Finally, we can sign paperwork closing crap and get to work remodeling 'n such.
*happy dance*

Weird days follow closely the full moon.
Posted 15 years agoSo as of lately, I can never say "I'm bored".
The nerve-wracking tension and stress of the ongoing event known as "the house ordeal" is a lot to deal with, all of it on top of the full time day jobs, then the nighttime karaoke jobs. I also get a lot of odd jobs, fixing computers, consulting, teaching, performing.
Thursday I used a vacation day from my regular job because I had been asked to be a producer on a chef competition show. Basically, I had done some of those odd jobs of the tech variety before at my mate's work. My mate's boss was a contestant, chef of an assisted living facility. The competition, all the contestants came from this field. (so obviously is was based on healthy eating).
I streamed a live broadcast to the residents sitting in a party room on a huge screen, and at assigned times the live feed went to us, and a woman doing the reporter thing would speak, and the old people would cheer and hold up signs for their chef. (I was on a headset with all the other remote telecast producers and the main event. We were always in first position, and I got a brief "heads up" before switchover so signal the talent.) It was long and boring, but my location was the smoothest running out of all of them. So I was at that all day, then my usual late Thursday night karaoke gig.
Friday, from being away the day before, I come back to a shit-storm of emergencies waiting for me to deal with. I get the office work done, jump in a truck and zoom down the highway to do service call above and beyond what the service techs can handle and get back to the office late. Eating din din after work, I get talked into going to a gay party. I don't really want to go, but Kuppy thinks we can meet more friends locally this way.
Let me first make this one thing very clear. I HATE "gay culture" with a passion, and have avoided much of "the scene" for years. Pretentious attitudes, fashion labels, butchered techno versions of music, and bitchy whiny flamers speaking in fake lispy accents, trying to find subtle and clever ways to insult others.
So yeah, I bring weed. Well, it's a good thing. Not even a freaking hour into the party, the 2 hosts start fighting. It starts as light argument evolving over cocaine and ex-boyfriends (yeah, 85% of all the 20-30somethings we have met in Florida are freaking coke-heads. Just great for me to be around to, having been clean of the heavy stuff for over 6 years now, close to 7.) So we are hanging outside with neighbors, and it errupts into full violent pushing, swinging, and top of lungs screaming fight. All of the party guests are pretending it's not happening, the neighbors hanging outside with us make cracks about it. A common occurrence to them.
Their dog gets out and takes off in the middle of all this...so bam, I am gone, got my "out" to go find the dog. (Didn't find, but it came back the next morning.)
In all this, older coke-enraged one goes violent on younger one. Bulk of party guests are older one's friends, so he beats up on younger one and refuses to let him leave. Party guests are fine with this. I notice the same thing in furry groups as well, don't dare risk becoming unpopular by insulting the group's friends.
So younger one rendezvous back to our house, and with another friend we go to local gay bar (one of our karaoke gigs.) A very dysfunctional drunk drag queen annoys the living shit out of me. "blah blah blah ...I'm famous...blah blah blah...." then our favorite bartender goes off psychotically on a couple people in a row. (None of us, I tip very well.)
So I, out drinking all night, without my backpack and a change of crinkle-pants, not wanting to leak, slip into the restroom in middle of a standoff, and after I pass, the stand-off becomes a full blown heavy duty brawl. "Slamming up against the restroom door as I scream in fake Italian accent "eh' I'm pissin' in here."
We close out that place and head home for more drinking and wii with gay boy sleeping on our couch. At some point into the evening he is on Adam for Adam and invites a guy over in our living room ....big no no for me (paranoid pup getting strangers in house, in the night while he sleeps. Bad.) This gets out later somehow to the older one.
Saturday we get lunch, then drop him off at work for a 3 hour shift. Kuppy and I take advantage of the 3 hours to do some shopping and browsing for stuff for the house. After we pick him up fro work, we are up to St. Pete to go see Harry Potter in IMAX. (yay!)
After big, bright, and loud movie experience. I attempt to find my way from memory to the little gay section on the other side of the highway from there. I stop, thinking I am lost, and Google informs me that I am one block away. We go to this big place George's Alibi in St. Pete and hang out until close. At one point, I walk outside to go smoke and wind up face to face with the exact same queen from the night before!
Sunday, Landlord who we have seen 5 times total since moving in, just stops by. Dog goes crazy, we never told him about her, and there's a pile of boxes on the porch for moving. Surprise! The landlord leaves, and *knock knock knock* , here's the older gay boy looking for the younger one. They go argue, but I make it known that physical assault on my territory would be met with gunfire. We then have to race back to the other place to get his stuff, before the other one throws it out. But older one doesn't go back home, and younger one has no access.
Well, on a happy note, our small messy place with wild large puppy, two guys in a diapers, (pretty sure he noticed the nursery back there, as animals kept opening the door) It wasn't an ideal living situation, and he worked out something else. Win!
Now today, we keep waiting for a call or email that we were supposed to get last Thursday about the state of our house. Notta yet. grrr.

Lack of participation
Posted 15 years agoI have not been on here in a few days for work, and gigs, and so forth. Which is wild, for my obsession to try and watch all the babyfurs and cubs and artists who draw them, I have butt-loads of journals and submissions to sift through every week.
The majority of the month of November, I will not be easily reachable. Closing on a house of our own, and will be away fixing it up and moving, and will not have internet there for some time.
Which is something that bugs me, because I want to stream video while doing the work on the house.
Maybe there are unlocked wifi signals in that 'hood. *ish hoping*
After we are moved and settled, I will be back deep in the animation kick, have so many ideas building up for new and better animations. Including one idea that I believe will be a stronger troll-magnet than the pic of my babyfur tattoo. (here's to hoping :p )

Bullying
Posted 15 years agoSo now the new epidemic is kids killing themselves for being bullied?
Instead of all this political correctness bullshit, whatever happened to standing up for yourself?
As skinny, quiet, weirdo fag-boy, I got plenty of bullying and called a "faggot" every day.
I learned how to level the playing field when teasing got physical. Can of aerosol hairspray and a cheap lighter, a swiftly aimed rock to the skull (followed with a promise to kill their entire family while they're sleeping and sacrifice them to Satan), and my personal favorite; the older HS douche when I was just in 8th grade ...a pocket knife to the lung. (made the paper with that one.)
*Warning: standing up against bullies may result in suspension, legal trouble, and psychological evaluations.

Breaking With the Mighty Poppalots
A 1984 break dancing instructional video.
This exact scene, dancer "Crazy Legs" teaches the art of using mime facial expressions to liven up your dance routine.
When I was in high school, I found this video in a bargain bin at the video store in the mall. My friends and I bought all the copies and watched and practiced, got retro velvety jogging suits from Goodwill, and started our dance crew.

Sailing ...takes me away.
Posted 15 years agoBack when we moved to Florida from Chicago, I knew that I wanted to take up sailing.
My only prior experience was sailing sunfish and laser's on a small lake at summer camp.
I bought a sailboat from, and was taught mastery of sailing by a retired AB/DL that we met here after the move. He had a lifetime of advanced sailing experiences.
Originally I was going to buy a day sailor type, but I bought his coastal cruiser because it was a deal, and he couldn't use it anymore. I had it for 3 years, and with me it saw many adventures. But, it was a major pain in the butt, and a constant money pit. I had to pay to store the thing, drive a fairly long ways to use it (or even work on it), and had to have a big 4-wheel drive vehicle to launch the thing and retrieve it every time from it's trailer spot at the sailing club.
A club which had it's own slew of dramas, egos, and attitudes that I would rather just avoid. So I got rid of the big boat, but kept most of the gear assuming I would get another one down the road.
The call of the ocean has been tearing at me once again. I have even been dreaming about it the last few nights. But I do not want another big boat to deal with (until I retire and sail around the world in a really big boat.)
I actually want a small racing boat. Something that can be kept at our new house, towed with any vehicle, launched from any ramp, and setup/sailed solo by myself, not require a gas kicker motor, and still have room for cruising with 4 adults when visitors come. (something like a Precision 16 or Hunter 17)
So, as with most of the impulsive Muira endeavors, I'm just going to jump in there and see what happens.
The ideal vision would be to recruit a couple of furs in the area for creation of a racing team. (of course the team uniforms would involve having ears on the caps and tails on the life vests.)

B-day Weekend stuffs.
Posted 15 years agoSo, I tried not to plan anything big for the weekend.
With the house purchase in limbo, and funds tight, the taking of any trips was right out of the question.
I was surprised with visits from babyfurs ^.^
Friday night
ArmandNousagi and
noxy showed up, and Saturday after lunch
kbyoshikawa arrived.
This is why babyfurs rule.
Only one of my local friends showed up to hang out for our show on Saturday night, (and that was just by pure coincidence)
We haven't had much luck making local friends (been here 6 1/2 damn years now)
(I theorize in the fandom, it's because we're babyfurs, and too old),
but it's the same with all the other cliques that make up our pathetic social lives.
Yet, these 3 all drive long distance to see me, sending rays of warmth into my lil emo heart. :p
Much thanks and love goes out to them. <3
My mate got me a Wii, which we played much of the weekend (after some amusing follies in setup fail.)
So, my face has really been hurting last couple weeks. I has 3 out of 4 wisdom teeth left, others crushed and cracked and otherwise destroyed, and one in front that never descended ...stuck way up there, messing with my sinuses. This weekend the pain was pretty intense, especially yesterday. I can't get help yet because of the house buying dealie.
Soon, it will all work out. *crosses paws*

Anniversay n Birfday
Posted 15 years ago3 years ago today I got married in a lil Las Vegas chapel o' love to Kuppycake. We have been together for 7 years in total, after meeting at a "diaper party" in Chicago.
Saturday is my birfday! (Yes! I'll still be 3) Will be doing karaoke, and generally being silly if anyone in range of Sarasota FL would like to join us. All are welcome, holla at a pup for info.

Catch Phrase Meme
Posted 15 years agoCatch Phrases, we've all got em'...
What is a phrase or key word you tend to use frequently by saying out loud?
"That's it! I'm going Amish!" (whenever I get angry at a computer or electronic device, which is pretty much daily)
What is a phrase or key word you tend to use frequently in writing/texts/IM's?
"Slammin!" (or variations of, depending on level of excitement) aka.. "slamtastic!", "Slam-bammin'" , "slamf***ingtastic!", etc
Sarasota furs ...check it! Karaoke!
Posted 15 years agoMy mate Kuppy and I have added a new karaoke gig to our rotation.
We will be doing karaoke starting this Wednesday night from 9:30pm to 1:30am at Barrel 87 ...the last surviving gay bar in town.
..of course, it is at a bar, so this is a 21 and over event.
Barrel 87 is located in Gulf Gate @ 6587 Gateway Avenue.
For those that don't know me and got spammed with this journal because you were local, Kuppy and I were the drunken dorks hosting karaoke @ Megaplex this year.
Spread the word! Come out and sing!

Anybody want to start some drama?
Posted 15 years agoAll you have to do is post a journal about how much I suck, and how much I have screwed you over. (just make up some really awful "out there" stuff)
Feel free to leave angry sounding shouts to the same effect.
Then I will turn around whatever you give me,
put a spin on it, send it back.
Then, people that miss this journal and have no idea what is going on, they will jump in to defend your side or my side of made up situation. Starting more drama, and more flame wars.
Many laughs will ensue.
Then, there is the possibility that this idea takes off, like a meme.
Then many many dramas, and flames, and laughter will ensue.
Then the furry world will colapse upon the weight of it's own drama.
Then people can REALLY flame some drama towards me...for being the a**hole that started it all.
(muh ha ha)
...or alternately, we could just all meet up somewhere and go for ice cream.
