Posted 9 years agoWell what can I say about this game? I suppose I should talk about what it's about. Vermintide takes place in the warhammer universe at about the time in the story known as the "end times". Think the apocalypse but less Jesus and more awesome. Essentially every race is fighting one another and death and the chaos gods are jerking off happily to their plan of total annihilation. This game is based more specifically within the great human city of The Empire. You, and your friends are caught up in a horrible attempt by the Skaven (Rat people) to take over the surface of the city and rid the surface of humanity.
If you've ever played Left 4 Dead, this game is basically a carbon copy of the formula. You and three friends take control of different characters and go from point A to point B and survive. However, unlike Left 4 Dead, there are quite a bit more "flavors" that are added to the game to make it, in my opinion, better than it's predecessor.
1) Each character has their own unique style and strengths. For instance the Mercenary is the most well rounded of the group able to be
the defensive tank, or the raw damage juggernaut with a two handed hammer. Or if you wish, be the bright wizard and lay waste to
your enemies with fire magic.
2) Unlike L4D, there is a loot system that makes this one unique. Every time you finish a map you're given the opportunity to "roll" for
new weapons, trinkets, or armor. While the rolls are random, you can increase your chance for that great piece of loot by collecting
during the map tomes, grims, and loot dice that are randomly placed. Keep in mind however that collecting grims makes the map that
much harder, but the rewards are sweeter.
3) Another interesting part of this game is what I call the "hub". Before a map starts, you have access to the inn in which your character stays.
From here you can salvage weapons and armor you don't want for "tokens" that c an be used to upgrade other pieces of armor and weapons.
Or, you can use said tokens to forge new weapons. Also, through the shrine, you may "pray" for new weapons using the tokens or change.
the bonuses on a weapon that you just feel needs different "blessings".
Now let's get down to the things that may turn you off from the game.
1) Despite the additions of this game compared to left 4 dead, it has the same problem I felt that the previous series had, short. While
replay is no problem as this is pretty much the epitome of replay value, there are still not a lot of maps in my opinion. However, the up side
is that the creators know this and are constantly working on releasing new updates with one just around the corner that includes a new area
of the city plus a new game mode "survival".
2) It's a fairly new game so there are still glitches and bugs that pop up from time to time. Most are not game breaking in the least and are
easily ignored, one being audio glitches with weapons. However, on occasion, the game will crash while in the middle of the map.
Final conclusion::
While the game may not flawless or a masterpiece, Warhammer Vermentide is definately a game that is worth buying. Plus, the game is not as expensive compared to other games of it's type, coming to roughly $23.99 dollars. (Note it's on sale at this time at 20% off). If you take that price into consideration, plus the developers constantly making new content, I dare say this is a bargain for such a high caliber game. It's fun, the lore is great, the loot system is cool, and it's just plain mindless enjoyment when you have three other friends slaughtering rats left and right. I would recommend this game for anyone who really wants another version of Left 4 Dead and are just bored to death shooting zombies. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a skaven I need to skin and mount on my wall.

In the upcomming future, I will be posting a comic that me and two friends have been working on for a little over a year. The title of the comic will be known as "Chronicles of the Fallen". This game was a classic shitty FMV that used horrible actors to portray a story that would make the story line to two girls one cup worthy of an oscar. Still, there are so many things to make fun of that you'll just be laughing at the murder scenes and crying at the attempt of the game developers to try and get the actors to take the game seriously. Now you ask WHY did I play this game? Simple, I'm a sucker for torture, and I actually wanted to say "I beat this fucked up piece of shit". So I beat it......now.....I feel very dirty inside. So have any of you played this game? If so, did you like it? Or, how bad did you dislike it?
