Life Update
Hey it's me again. Sorry I've been so quiet here besides uploading! I'm doing okay, just busy. My summer was pretty sleepy, but now I'm in my senior year of undergrad! Wow! I'm taking a full course load YIKES. But it's already half way through the semester and I haven't died yet! I'm actually having a really good time at school right now, especially compared to last year. My roommates are awesome and my classes are fun (as fun as senior level business classes can be).

In the most exciting news, I got my internship back yesterday! So I have a steady stream of income finally.

Commission Update
Because of school, commissions have been slowed to a snail's pace. I'm trying my best to get them done in a timely manner, though and I keep my trello pretty well updated. As always, you can ALWAYS contact me about the status of your commission! I try to be as transparent as possible!

That being said, commissions are closed right now except for repeat customers.

I expect them to open in earnest at the end of the semester (mid December). I will also have a fursuit slot or two to be completed over my winter break! I will announce more details come November.

Looking Forward in the Fandom
I'm done for conventions for the year! No MFF for me sadly :( However, I will be a NYFB!
My local furgroup will also be hosting a holiday party on December the 9th! If you are around the South Jersey/ Philadelphia area, I think you should come!
For 2018, I'm planning on FWA (crossing my fingers for no delays!) and FTM so far. I will be working artist alley in both! I'm also aiming for AC, but that one isn't set in stone yet.

Oh hey I'm going to another convention this month because I hate my wallet and grades equally...

BUT I WUV MY FRANDS.

This will be my first con with my local fur friends up here (the Rump Squad, as we're affectionately called) and this will also be my first Fur the More! Whoo!

I will be doing watercolors, inks and sketches and maybe print outs of some adoptables I haven't been able to home yet... Hey?? You still there? Did you make it out alive? Good, good. Glad to see you're back.

I don't even know where to begin with this damned year.

On one hand, I had a stellar year by most metrics. I worked hard, and I played hard. Since the beginning of 2016, I began an amazing professional hot streak. I had my first internship in my field, then I had my second (paid!!!) internship in my field! I even got extended! Going in 2017, I'm going for my third one, paid as well, this time at an architecture firm.

This year I also began my solo travels. There's nothing I love more than airplanes and airports and I got to go on two amazing trips. The first to FWA where I met so many friends, old and new, and sparked a passion for this dumb animal fandom I never knew (more on). The second to Wisconsin to visit one of my very best friends in the universe.

FWA ended up being a really defining trip because it caused me to want to get involved in the furry community more. One of the things I did when I got back was to co-found a local furgroup with galaxycoyote. Wild Rumpus NJ was born from a need for meets in my area and it has blossomed and thrived like I wouldn't believe. I've met so many great animals through it.

Finally I started at my first semester at my big deer school. The first couple of months were rough as hell, but I pulled through! Through my writing minor, I really reconnected with my love of writing. It had been so long but now slowly and surely I'm trying to get back into it. I created a full length play in my class that I am insanely proud of. I also created a short form play that was selected to be performed this semester! I'm so excited for that!

But on the other hand, my personal sense of self worth and identity has been so thoroughly dashed this year. I had a bad, bad relationship where I ended up doing most of the bad, bad things. Honestly, I'm still so shocked that I was capable of such vile behavior and I'm scared of myself now. I don't know what to do. I feel like I have to learn to love myself again or at least feel okay about myself. Forgive, but don't forget. Move on. Try you best, moving forward.

And now, as we move forward, I am fully on board with 2017 being the year of treat yo self. Treat yourself to things! Be definitely happy! But also treat yourself kindly. Work to improve, work to feel better about yourself, work to love yourself.

I can't tell you how the new year is gonna be, but I can tell you that I'm sticking it out too and I'll be there every step of the way.

Hello animals!

So.... We're almost out of 2016!

I wrote a journal entry before this year started and wow, I was so naive, so hopeful, but here we are, 12 months later, sitting in a smoldering dumpster fire and wow, is it FUN.

My mental health has sort of been through the ringer for most of this semester, but I'm finally getting back to my old self! Slowly, but surely. Is this based entirely on external validation? Mmmm yes. Should I go back to counseling for that? Maybe????

Anyway, two cool things happened to me yesterday. 1) New internship! I'm going to be the marketing intern for a local architecture company that designs casinos (my school is right next to Atlantic City, New Jersey... you should visit sometime). 2) My short play is going to be produced for my school's sort play festival!

If there's one thing that I've really gotten out of this semester, it's that I've rediscovered my creative impulses. The structured creative writing of my playwriting class has really gotten me out of the perpetual writer's block. Additionally, I've been writing reviews and pop culture pieces for the school paper and I joined the zine club.

In furry news, I will be attending New Year's Furry Ball in Delaware! This is my first one and I'm awfully excited. Plus I'll be turning 21 this month so somebody's gonna have to handle a drank deer.

Hello animals!!!

Just wanted to post a quick life update!

I'm officially a University student! My community college career is far behind me (or at least, I'd like to hope so) and I have been settling into my new school for the past week. It's been a transition... nothing too bad. Honestly, I'm a little under an hour away from home so I can go back on the weekends sometimes. In fact, I sorta have to because my family is moving and I have to pack up and organize my earthly possessions. That's fun.

If anything, adjusting socially has been a bit of a trip. My roommates are cool people but I can't help but feel removed. I like to believe that I'm an outgoing social type of person and sometimes I am but wow.... I spent the last couple of nights watching movies instead of Socializing ™. It'll probably get better.

In an attempt to socialize, I tried out for a play! And guess what? I got called back??? I have no clue how I will fit it into my schedule if I get in, but sure, let's try this.

My internship has been extended into a temp role! I'm really happy about that because I love working for my company and hey, getting PAID isn't a bad gig either! The office is much closer to my school than my home, so the commute is lovely and I no longer have to wake up at 6:30.

Lastly, if you follow me on twitter you know that I broke up with my partner (the one I talked about here in the past) a week and so ago. It was really rough and I miss them. But it's one of those things where it's better that we let each other go. It's a hard lesson, but it happens.

So that's what is new with me! What's new with you? Any cool projects? Had any good meals?

Hello animals!

Summer is finally here! Just thought I'd update real quick!

So I have a real job! Well, it's an internship, but it's full time. I'm working for a really well known retailer as a social media intern. Today was only day 2 and I was basically thrown into the deep end. Managed to keep my head above water today, but I can just feel my acute impostor's syndrome sinking in yikes. Oh well, there's a reason they thought I was good enough. Just living up to my business deer name.
The job itself it really cool! We get free beverages AND an ice cream truck on Fridays!

However this new 9-to-5 means art will be a little on the slow side, especially now while I try to adjust. Luckily I have weekends off. I've been working on a premade fursuit too (if you follow me on my twitter you've probably seen updates).

The premade should be done at the end of the month. Hopefully I can get it sold and visit one of my dearest friends sometime this summer! So if you're in the market for a buff borker, HMU.

Hello animals!

I live in New Jersey and as you might have heard, the Mid-Atlantic region is getting thrashed by a blizzard. I'm basically snowed in for the weekend and I've been spending the time refurbing my Cappi head. I made the original Cappi head in Fall 2014 and it ended up being a really sloppy job. I'm really excited about this project and I just had to type out my thoughts!

That being said- here are the things I'm redoing!

1. New Furring job: My biggest complaint about the first head was how bad the furring job was-- it was saggy with a choppy shave... yuck! The original fur color wasn't even that on model either and I am in love with the new fur colors.
2. Restructuring Foamwork: The symmetry of the head was noticeably off too so I've fixed that and cleaned it up. Unfortunately, in the process I've lost the moving jaw which is okay since the lower jaw was crooked.
3. New Ears: Okay, sort of a combination of the first two, but listen, the foam work of the ears had literally detached from the rest of the head. The ears were only being held on by the fur.
4. New Nose: One of my favorite things about Cappi's character design is her boopable nose with visible nostrils. The original head's nose was plush and had no detail, but I have carved her a new nose that's much more on model.
5. New Eyes: Not much to say here. I kept the plastic of the old eyes to make a template. The buckram will be painted much better.
6: New Hair: I'm still trying to figure this one out. Her original character design/head had a little faux hawk and now it's more of an... undercut type of style? I don't know, some type of floppy side swept deal (actually it's just an exaggerated version of my hair hah). That being said, I'm going to try a whole new technique for me! I'm going to try to do the hair out of a brushed yarn wig... think a jellicle cat wig.
7: New hand hooves: Going to try out a new technique here too! I can't really afford any premade hooves, but I want structure to them, so I'm going to cover a thin foam layer with... pleather, maybe?. ALSO ALSO ALSO the thing I'm most excited about for these is that I'm going to try to make them touch screen reactive! Cappi, as a character, is always on her phone doing business so it's a cute character touch but also super practical.

So those are my plans! I'm currently in the middle of refurbing (ughhh) which is my REAL achilles heel, but I'm making a real effort to make it the best I can . That is actually my philosophy for the entire project and I have never felt so confident working on a fursuit (and I've been making suits on and off since 2009!)

Anyway, at this rate I will definitely have Cappi all cleaned up and nice for FWA in March so say hi if you see me!

If you have a few dollars to burn, I want to start exploring a couple new commissions types!

Sketch Page - $15
So this will be a little different than your usual sketch page.
A lot of times when I draw new characters for commissions I do a lot of sketches to get a feel for the character even if it's for something as small as an icon. I do sketches in one style, tweak it and sketch again. There's a progression about how I draw your character and I'm offering a page of concept sketches culminating in a colored sketch of your character.

Character Design - $10 + $5/pass
A little more straight forward, but I'll use my skill to bring your character to life! You give me initial details (species, personality, color scheme) and I'll send you back a colored sketch. However, the process doesn't end there and I will work with you to get your character pitch perfect.

Plush Head Shot - $30
I love making plush friends and I'd like to eventually open up for plush commissions of some type. I figure I'd like to start small and offer small plush "head shots" of your character that you could clip to a bag or a lanyard or something. I'd also like to experiment with hand embroidery commissions down the line too, which if you want to go on that wacky rabbit hole, I can hash out details with you!

2015.

Holy cats, that year put me through the ringer. I had the best, most magical, Looking up at the Moon and Thinking About How Lucky You Are time of my life immediately followed by a terrible, Crying into Your Ice Cream summer. I still can't believe they happened in the same year. The whiplash was too real. What can I say? I loved, I lost, I lived to like-like again.

But the thing is, I have never felt myself change that much. 2015 made me sadder, wiser, gayer and I wouldn't have it any other way.

2016.

So here we stand on the threshold of a new year. Who am I kidding? We're all ready in it two days, give or take and I have a good feeling about this year!

This year I really want to focus on pushing myself. I have become to complacent with who I was, and the tail end of 2015 really showed me that. I have a lot of potential and I just want to Get Good. Like, real Good. Like, I'm proud to be this person Good. The long and short of it is that I want to become the type of person I want me to be. I want to be better read, I want to be outgoing, I want to be bolder, I want to be kinder, I want to smile more and make other people smile more.

I think I can do it.

I also have a LOT to look forward to this year! I have an internship this semester, I'm going to MY FIRST FURRY CON (FWA), I'm going to finish off my community college career (good riddance) with my associates in Business Management and I'm transferring into a university come the fall! And that's not even counting all the MOVIES coming out too! And people I'm going to meet and dogs I'm going to pet and adventures I'm going to go on!

I'm really excited and I hope that you're excited too.

This is going to be one hell of a year, I promise!

Recently I've been getting into like... Show Culture? I guess? I'm starting to go to back of the bar shows. I've been doing social media for my friend's band but also listening to a lot of small time artists lately. I want to do that, I want to sing fun wry folk songs and entertain people. Make a hipster exhale sharply with a lyric, that kind of thing.

But then also I really like furry music! And by furry music I mean songs that make explicit references to being an animal. Even tough he's disappeared (for better or for worse), I liked Futret's Gay Deer World Takeover EP. It was super campy but was like a real deer person singing and I don't know I am just endlessly amused by the idea of animal people just being people (but also animals!)

Currently, my favorite furry musician is Niic the Singing Dog... even though his singing leaves a lot to be desired. Again, I liked his earlier stuff when he talked about being a dog and pitched his voice a bit higher. He still does his shows in fursuit! And I love it!

Furry music is just an extension of this game of animal people pretend we play and I want to try it out!

If I did, I'd definitely use K.O. as my musician persona. They're actually already based off of the folks that go to and perform at shows (specifically Mal Blum)! Obviously, I'd perform in fursuit and I think my songs would be really off the cuff, rambles almost about love, loss and the small things in life like your coffee getting old because you got distracted... but also being a werewolf!

Anyway, I hope some day I could actually pull this off! My singing isn't exactly the best and I haven't picked up a guitar in years.... but furry music is definitely something I appreciate to the moon and back!
