I am no longer posting my work on FA. I've set myself up on Weasyl, and have plans to set up on other furry art sites as well. I will keep my FA account, to watch artists who can only be found here, and to keep in touch with people.

Lane & Broderick, I LOVE you!
Posted 9 years agoWhat the actual hell, man...
Posted 9 years agoI don't get it. So many people are dying lately. Not just celebrities. Friends and family as well. This is getting really unsettling, and I'm just not sure how to process it all at this point. There's only so much of this that can happen, before it makes me a conspiracy theorist.

Gift for Jbadger
Posted 9 years agoA good friend and wonderful guy, Jbadger, is very sick, in the hospital with an aggressive cancer. At the moment, I hear that he's still got a chance to pull through this.
I want to commission a gift for him. If you have crafting/sewing skills and want in on this project, please contact me!

Fallout 4 -- "ferret" is a valid name
Posted 10 years agoIf you wanna play Fallout 4 and are a ferret, you're in luck-- "Ferret" is in the game's list of 1000 names that can be spoken by certain NPCs.
Also, Pip-Boy edition, yeah!
Gotta charge my phone tons more, but worth it!

Folder frustration
Posted 10 years agoI've been trying to make use of the new folders feature on FA. Trying to sort things by moving them into appropriate folders, but I can only seem to copy them. copies of the images still remain in the main gallery. Does anybody know how to actually MOVE them instead of making a copy?
Cosplay outfit part needed -- help!
Posted 10 years agoI'm going to be attending FurPocalypse as the Dooktor again, but I've regenerated. I have everything I need, except I can't find my blazer anywhere!!
Please help the Dooktor locate his blazer, or the closest thing to it. Here are some photos of the 7th Doctor's jacket:

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-UP7dlGcF1.....ll_Website.jpg
http://doctorwho-execution.weebly.c.....8/126338.jpg?0
Things to note:
1) material is linen
2) cream or off-white color
3) no zipper. Just 1 or 2 buttons
4) 2 breast pockets with flaps, and 2 lower pockets with flaps
5) OPTIONAL: bottom of the jacket is cornered, not rounded. This is VERY hard to find without a zipper.
I've looked online, and have found nothing that comes close. If you happen to see one in your travels where you live, please send me a photo. If its a close enough match, I will give you the money to purchase and ship it, plus a little extra for your trouble!

Why I am currently wet
Posted 10 years agoI sit down to use my laptop.
Molly climbs up my leg and into my lap, wiggles up into my shirt via the sleeve, lets out the juiciest sneeze ever right into my armpit, and then exits through the other sleeve.
Thanks, girl...thanks for that. You're due for your own bath real soon.

Holy sh*t 40!!
Posted 11 years agoSeriously, what the F happened?! I'm turning 40 next week!
I could swear that not too long ago, I was a kid climbing trees and collecting caterpillars. And what happened to my teenage years? I want my hair, pancreas, thyroid and my twelve erections a day back! Heck, I'll settle for three.
But its not all bad. I traded all that in for good friends, a wonderful life partner, a good home, and some amount of wisdom. So yes, a damn good trade.
...I'd still appreciate more erections, though.
So what do you folks think -- should I delve into the whole "mid-life crisis" thing?
I hear that I get nice car out of it, somehow. I could use a new car.

I met Pinky & The Brain
Posted 11 years agoSo voice actors Rob Paulson and Maurice LaMarche were at this year's ConnectiCon, signing autographs and doing Q&A.
I had to go. I took along my fursuit, a Pinky & The Brain t-shirt and went there with
kiprich
Meeting them both was a real treat, but I have to admit that my experience with Rob (Pinky) was especially memorable.
You see, Rob *really* loves what he does. He also loves going to conventions and interacting with people. There's just this aura of positive energy that follows him around, and its contagious.
So we found the line for autographs early on -- we were second in line. Rob was running a little late. After a few minutes, the people ahead of us started talking amongst themselves, wondering when he would arrive. Just then, Rob comes up behind them and goes, "Yeah, this guy's a real jerk. I don't know why anyone puts up with him!" I was honestly too giddy inside my fursuit to remember the rest of their conversation.
When it was our turn to step up to meet him, Rob looked at me and went, "Holy Christ, a giant raccoon" A common mistake, but I forgave him. "And I haven't even had a drink yet!" After he signed my shirt, we took a photo together and he gave me a hug. Squee! <3

I have to give a ton of thanks to
kiprich
It was a pleasure going to the con with him, and he put up with a lot of BS helping me with my fursuit and making sure I stayed hydrated. I couldn't have done it, otherwise. You are awesome, skunky! <3

Posted 11 years agoThe feelings I get from charity fursuiting
Posted 11 years agoOverall, its a great feeling to go to these things and interact with families, kids and their dogs or other pets. But some moments just stand out more, for better or for worse.
1) When I get a hi-5, fist-bump or a really manly hug from a big, bad-ass muscled guy
My feeling inside: http://cdn.memegenerator.net/instan.....0x/9450601.jpg
2) When a group of giddy college girls surrounds me for photos, and one of them says she wants my babies

3) When a little kid hugs me out of nowhere and says, "I love you!"

5) Whenever parents insist on bringing their kids over to meet me, when the child makes it VERY clear that in their eyes, I am the Destroyer of Worlds and will eat them if given the chance

Posted 11 years agoFor anyone curious, I will not be adding myself to Weasyl, nor will I be removing myself from FA.
After hours of extensive research, I have my reasons and opinions, both technical and political. All of you, like myself, will do what you feel is right and take whichever path that leads you down.
This whole ordeal that has shaken FA hasn't been fun for anyone. I will miss the artists who have decided to pack up and leave. Maybe I'll meet up with them again sometime, somewhere.

FurFright 2013
Posted 12 years agoSorry it has taken me so long to write about the latest FurFright convention. Also sorry if this journal is a little on the long side. But hey, I don't write journals very often, and I've got things to say, so I'm saying it. :P
If you'd rather just see me in the fursuit parade, click on the link at the bottom.
For as long as I've owned a fursuit, I've tried to do a little something new with it each year at the convention. For the first couple of years, I was just trying to get used to walking around in the heavy thing. Then later, I tried wearing different clothes with it. Last year, I tried something fun by gathering the ferret fursuiters at the con and doing a ferret march in the parade with some music playing. It wasn't very well-planned, so there were only 3 of us, and the music wasn't loud enough.
This time, I started planning half a year in advance, slowly gathering all of my Dr. Who parts over the months. At first, it really was going to be just another simple thing -- the hat, the scarf and coat. But then I kept wanting more and more pieces to complete the look. I even got a remote control K9 with voices, imported from the UK!
About 2 months before the convention, I had another idea to try something else that I had never done before. I contacted Belic, and asked him what he thought about The Dooktor being in the Masquerade show. It turns out he's a Dr. Who fan, so his reply was quite enthusiastic.
Just to give you a little background about my experience entertaining on stage in front of a crowd up to that point -- I had none. Nothing. There was my Bar Mitzvah 26 years ago, and that was it. But every time I'd go to a furry convention and watch the Masquerade show, I'd see how much fun was being had on stage. I would think how wonderful it must be to have the energy and courage to be up there like that. And deep down, I was pretty sure that I didn't have what it takes, so I just never talked about it and moved on.
But this year I did it. I think that as scared as I was, my excitement for it was greater, and that drove me forward. I have to admit, the experience was quite exhilarating. It was a rush. Now I'm waiting for the DVD to come out so I can see what I looked like. All in all, I would like to do it again sometime, but I think next year I will stick to the parades. As fun as it was, it was exhausting.
As for the rest of the convention, when I wasn't in suit I was trying to hang out with friends and loved ones, though those plans mostly fell through, due to the chaotic nature of conventions, where everybody wants to do different things and can't be found half of the time. I also didn't have a lot of cash to spend, so very little time was spent in the dealer's room, though I did pick up a couple of small things.
Also, I'm noticing a sad trend -- each year, more old friends that I already don't get to see a lot of either can't go or don't want to go. Because of the distance from their home, or money issues, or simply because they don't enjoy it anymore. They're all valid reasons and I can't argue the matter, but I miss you guys. I wish we could talk more and see each other more. Sometimes I feel like that's my fault. My life is so busy now, and I feel like I often end up neglecting people unintentionally. I want so much to be able to do more, to spend time with everyone. I'm having trouble accepting that it might not be possible. But I'm not suggesting that I'll ever give up trying. Even if I don't get to see you guys as often as I want, I love you and I still think about you.

Absence seizures and staircases -- what the hell?
Posted 12 years agoSo back in the 1980s, I had childhood epilepsy. My parents tell me that I used to have "Grand Mal" seizures, which is the more serious type that most people think of when talking about epilepsy. Blacking out is a part of it, and so I don't remember any of the episodes, so I'll have to trust their word and that of several doctors. Fortunately, I was put on medication that brought it under control, and all signs of Grand Mal seizures disappeared during my teenage years and have been gone ever since, even without meds.
However, throughout my life I have retained a smaller, less talked-about part of epilepsy, which is absence seizures, also known as "Petit Mal" seizures. These are not severe, and most episodes go overlooked because it resembles daydreaming or "spacing out". At the time of an episode, I'll stop whatever it is I'm doing and just kind of stare off and not say anything -- my mind is somewhere else for about 10 to 30 seconds. The trance can sometimes be broken, if someone speaks loud enough, but I will have lost everything that happened in the short time I was out.
I normally don't talk about this kind of thing, but I felt compelled to because lately I have found myself coming out of a Petit Mal seizure at the top of staircases, of all places. So that kind of unnerves me a bit. I have no idea why it happens at the top of a staircase. Thankfully, all I do is stand there rigid until I snap out of it.
Does anyone else have similar experiences?

Recovery
Posted 12 years agoDay 5 of being on antibiotics/penicillin for the strep. While not yet 100% recovered, I'm feeling a hell of a lot better than before. I can eat things now, and I no longer have a fever. The whole thing jarred my system, however, and so I'm still feeling very low on energy. I'm hoping that in a few days I'll have that energy back, because I REALLY want to get into fursuit with my new head.

New fursuit head, and plans for FurFright
Posted 12 years agoSo I've got a new fursuit head made, and it'll be arriving tomorrow if all goes well. Photos to come soon!
I still have the original head that
deezlberries made, and I love it as much as ever, but I needed something a tad smaller that's lighter and lets me see out through the eyes instead of the mouth.
Deez and I spent many hours discussing the design of the original head while he was making it. He warned me about the limitations, but I still wanted to give it a try. Its a wonderful head, so expressive, and I especially love the unique eyes and nose. For a few years I've done my best to work with it, and people seem to love it as much as I do. However, as I knew during its design, it is difficult to interact with people because when I want the head to look a person in the eyes, I have to actually be looking at their chest because I see out of the mouth. So after doing that for a while, and because its rather heavy, I decided it was time to try a more traditional head.
So Deez, I want to thank you again for the truly beautiful head that you made for me, and I'm sorry that I'll be retiring it. I'll always keep it and protect it, and even use it sometimes. And of course I'll still be using the rest of the suit, which is just the BEST FRIGGING SUIT EVER! <3
The next thing I wanted to talk about is my plans for FurFright this October. As it goes with every FurFright, I'll be needing to borrow some room space from somebody who is staying at the hotel. I don't need to sleep there, as I live nearby. I just need a place for fursuit storage and changing. It will involve me coming and going a couple of times each day, but I do my best to be courteous and not disturb other people or disrupt their belongings. And of course, I'll chip in some cash to help pay for the room.
So if you have some extra space to keep a fursuit in your hotel room this FurFright and would be kind enough to help a ferret out, please let me know. I really appreciate it! Thank you. :)
