Product FAQs
General | Posted 15 years agoOkay, so here are some questions I've gotten:
Q. Why haven't you opened commissions?
A. Every time I get my queue cleared and am ready to open, another person approaches me privately and asks for an item, and I'm too nice to say no! I am working as hard as I can muster without my hands falling off to get it cleared!
Q. Are these knit or crocheted?
A. All items are crocheted. I've been crocheting since age 8, which adds up to 20+ years of experience. I do know how to knit, but I only picked it up a few years ago and don't feel my skills are good enough to offer items for sale.
Q. What yarn do you use?
A. Coats & Clark Red Heart Super Saver and Red Heart Classic. These yarns are 100% acrylic 4-ply worsted weight yarns. This means they shed water, retain heat, don't pill, don't stretch out of shape, and are very easy to clean.
Q. Can I get something made in a different yarn, like wool?
A. Yes! Let me know what you have in mind! I can show you many color options for the fiber you're interested in!
Q. Where can I see the yarn colors?
A. Click here for Red Heart Super Saver (118 colors)
and
Click here for Red Heart Classic (68 colors)
Q. WOW! Do you really have all of those colors?
A. I do not have all of them on hand. Some of the colors I can get at local stores, but if there is a color you want that I don't have, I may have to mail-order it, which will add at least three more days until it's completed.
Q. How long does a hat take to make?
A. My record for fastest hat was 7 hours, but figure 1-2 full work days. Remember! These are hand-stitched and made to order!
Q. Can you make a hat in time for (insert event here)?
A. If you would like to have a hat for a birthday or other event, I would advise you to order AT LEAST 1 month in advance. I am a human being with a life, and sometimes things come up. I will do the best I can to have it at your door by a certain date, but I cannot guarantee it. If you want it for a bigger event, like a major holiday or convention, I would order it as far in advance as possible, just to be safe.
Q. Can you make a hat in a smaller size?
A. Most certainly! My Babygirl Hat is a perfect example! If you would like a hat in a size other than standard adult, please send me a head circumference and I will alter it to fit.
Q. Can you make other things besides hats?
A. Of course! If you have an idea for something and want me to make it, PM me with details and we can negotiate a price.
Q. What are the earrings made of?
A. The standard "silver" rings are made of plain aluminum, the colored ones of anodized aluminum.
Q. Where can I see the earring colors?
A. Click Me!
Q. How do I wash my hat?
A. Hand wash only, warm water, gentle detergent.
Using a towel, press water out. Do NOT wring.
Shape gently and let air dry.
DO NOT IRON
If hat has earrings, remove before washing OR dry earrings IMMEDIATELY after washing.
