Not that my ego is big enough to really think this, but just in case, I'm trimming down my watch list a little bit and thought I should say something. Having several thousand pictures on a daily basis is a bit much. So I hope no one is offended if I unwatch them.

I noticed that I'm coming upon 600 artists in my watch list. That's amazing! Just when I think I've found all the artists I want to watch, FA surprises me by revealing another talented individual.

I don't know if they'll ever read this message, but I have to say thank you to Dragoneer and the whole FA team for making such a wonderful site possible. And thank you also, all you great artists who share your gift of creativity with everyone.

Some people might dismiss furry art, erotic art, or scribbly doodles, but to me, getting to see all these creations is a big part of my life. FA is the one site I visit each and every day, and it's both a constant joy and a wonderful community (drama and all).

The accolades of one fan in a single journal entry might not be worth much, but I say it with all my heart:

The other day, a friend told me their opinion that porn wasn't art, since it was just meant to titillate instead of... well, whatever it is that art is supposed to do for people.

At any rate, I got to thinking about it. Lately I've been doodling a little, and I've been trying to draw some erotic images. Sex scenes, provocative poses, that sort of thing. And you know, it's really hard. Not the actual technique--though I'm not really good at that anyway--but the comfort and ease of producing that kind of imagery. In other words, I have trouble expressing arousal, desire, intimacy, and sex when it comes to creating visual representations of it. It feels a little embarrassing and uncomfortable putting that sort of thing on paper. It's frustrating not being able to draw this kind of pornographic pictures.

Thinking that, I started wondering about artists who do create porn. I really envy the people who are so comfortable expressing sexual feelings so openly. Freedom of expression, lack of inhibition... that's certainly part of the definition of art, right? I think sometimes people try to demean porn because the inspiration for that expression is sexual tension... but to me, that's something really beautiful. At least for me, creating porn isn't "easy" or "cheap," so I really value the people who do make and share it. Sex is something so convoluted due to society's conceptions of it... but, when an artist creates a piece of porn, the convolutions are just kind of drossed away... it becomes an exchange of arousal, ideas, and energy between the artist and the viewer. Not to get all mystical about it, though... But my point is, I think it's wrong to assert that such a communication has no redeeming value. To me, it has quite a lot of value.

So anyway... porn is porn. But it's not "just" porn... I think it qualifies as art in its own right.

I saw this on  krominof 's journal, and thought it would be fun to try! I've already done #1, sooooo.... let's see how it goes!

I have always dreamed of being one of the great artists that I see on sites like DA and FA. But the thing is, I hardly ever draw or write, etc. I usually just consume.

I know the best way to become an artist is simply to practice. So to that end, I've decided to.... take requests. @.@

I don't know if anyone actually reads journals and such on here, but I know several people have kindly decided to watch me. Soooooo.... if any of you lovely people would like something drawn, please tell me!

I'm not that great or anything, but a free picture is a free picture. :) It'll probably just be sketchy pencil, though.
